I just watched a youtube video that asked if it was possible to beat minecraft in superflat mode without any structures (no villages, no strongholds), and the answer was yes, only if you go against the spirit of the challenge by changing your world to an earlier version of the game that didn't have superflat mode whenever you got stuck. I'm sorry, but that's cheating. Why give yourself a challenge if you're just gonna subvert it? If it's not possible, then it's not possible, in which case it was an ill-conceived challenge from the start and you should have picked something else to do. I get that nobody wants to watch a video that's like "is it possible? No, sorry," but you can't legitimately claim to have beaten the game in superflat mode without structures if you have to leave superflat mode and turn back on structures. You failed the challenge. Sometimes when MythBusters would bust a myth they would then spend a few minutes at the end of the episode changing the parameters to see what it would take to recreate the expected results, but they wouldn't then turn around and say "well, in that case it's myth confirmed!" It's still busted.

One fun idea for a life series or Minecraft Challenge would be "High Life."
In which there is an overabundance of luxury high-tier items but a scarcity of food and other low-tier items, so the players have to play games, trade, or murder one another to get essential lower-tier items. Imagine being surrounded by diamonds but the only player with an iron pickaxe is on the other side of the map wasting it's durability on cobbled deepslate. Coal spawn rates would be depleted, making it difficult to obtain torches.

me n @mintiestkitkat have been playing through a slightly modified version of the old mc 404 challenge. for anyone unfamiliar, you can only stay on the surface til the first time night falls, and then you bring everything you gathered down with you into the caves, where you'll be living from then on. also you can't use torches, and have to use alternative light sources, and can't branch-mine for resources
(most of) our base!! i did not take screens of the huge bamboo cluster, the tree field, the chicken torment nexus, or the kelp pit, but next time we play i'll prob get pics of the entire base

Going to start a new MC challenge!
Tumblr media
So, I've been wanting to do a solo challenge for a while, and I've been watching way too much LukeTheNotable. (he's great, go check him out)
I enjoy the idea of a single biome challenge, but I don't like the idea of having a separate world for each biome.
So! I decided I want to do single biomes in a large biomes world, and the idea will be to build a "kingdom" in each biome, and expand the world's "lore" as we move to a new one.
The folks hanging out in my discord decided to torture me for the first biome, so we're starting in the Badlands... Decidedly, this is in survival, not hardcore, cause... I expect to scream into the void a lot. lol
See you Thursday at 8:30pm EST on the purplewitch site?

I came up with a random Minecraft challenge for myself
Basic Challenge Premise:
Every 20 in-game days, you must travel at least 500 blocks away and live there.
Rules and Notes:
- Where you spawn, is your first home. - Whenever you move, you must take ONLY essentials and rare/hard-to-obtain items. (Food, Tools, Armor, Ores- mainly iron, coal, diamond, gold, and emerald. You may exclude anything else) - you can go any further than 500 blocks away - you may spend 3-5 extra days if something happens that requires you to linger. (such as creeper attacks your stuff) - You can take pets with you.. good luck with that though. - you may use inventory storage tools like bundles, donkeys/mules or llamas with chests, boats with chests, and shulker boxes. - You CANNOT go back to any of your previous homes after you've settled into a new one. You may not even go back in their direction unless you are going at least 500 blocks past them. (exception is if the stronghold is near them) - days spent looking for your next location do not count for the 20 day limit. You are considered "settled" when you place down a chest and put your things in it. (?) - I highly recommend writing down the coordinate of all of your homes. Especially since you'll need to know your coordinates to know if you've traveled 500 blocks yet. (press F3 and look for XYZ)
Once you start looking for the stronghold..
- You must NOT settle anywhere until the eye of ender indicates that you've reached the stronghold. (this doesn't count temporary shelters to sit out or skip the night in, as long as you immediately leave the next day) - where your stronghold is, is your new home- not to the EXACT location but you must live on the ground above, around, or inside the stronghold.. this is probably just most convenient anyway - after you beat the dragon, it's up to you whether you'd like to continue the challenge or finally settle down somewhere for good!
Most importantly:
- Have fun! Break any of these rules, change them to fit how you'd like to play the challenge! Keep in mind I play exclusively with keepinventory so I'm not even playing with the full "challenge" involved with losing my stuff at all. Found are particularly amazing location you just don't wanna move from? Go ahead, you don't need to keep the challenge. No one's gonna judge you mate :)

Potential Minecraft MerMay Prompt Challenge?
I’m wondering how many people would be interested in a Minecraft MerMay centered fic and or drawing challenge. It would be one of those things that you really don’t need to make much of a commitment too. Kinda like Inktober or Whumptober. I’m thinking, the first day you’ll get a choice on a setting. Then after you complete each fic, or chapter if you’re going long form, you’d ‘unlock’ a set of prompts that will lead you down a certain route. By the end everyone will have had a unique list of prompts they’d have followed for the month.
I’m still thinking how this would be done. Maybe I’d have two “game modes”. One like any other monthly prompt challenge with a set number of prompts with switch ins at the bottom. The second would be the “Adventure Mode” where you go down routes, not knowing what prompt selection you’d get next to either build off of or start new.
If you find this interesting please let me know! I might end up setting a small thing up for next month for those who’d like to join!

Minecraft Challenge Idea!
Survival Challenge: Be vegan.
I'll make the exception for hostile mobs but for the over all idea you can't kill any mobs or eat anything that is involved with a mob like cake. Just crops and bread and what not. If u need wool you sheer the sheep, if you need leather either find a way to get it like trading/bartering or find it in chests. Certain mobs become practically useless to you, like pigs.
I've done this briefly before I took a break playing the game for a bit and it wasn't that hard but it was easy to forget sometimes. My rules were I was only allowed to kill negative mobs that attacked me or posed a direct threat to me. And everytime I killed something I had to either kms or burn a diamond.
