Felix Gonzalez-Torres was a Cuban visual artist who excelled most at minimalist art. He worked in New York from 1979 to 1995. One of his most known works is his candy piles. This art symbolized a person losing their fight to HIV/AIDS, for each pill they took was a pill that did nothing to save their lives. Felix, much like the characters in Angels understood the depth and fear of the AIDS crisis. Felix would pass away due to complications with AIDS in 1996.聽
