Fanfiction Prompt

When Adrien got the ring, he saw it as the way forward with all his dreams. Not just being a hero, not just being loved, not just a chance to escape from the four walls of his home, but to finally get away. So, shortly after dealing with Stoneheart, he starts on his plan. First things first: he tells Chloe that he's Chat Noir, he'll need her support. She takes it pretty well, in his opinion, and it's nice to have a confidant that he can trust. Secondly: he quietly starts to move some of the things he truly cares about to Chloe's room at the Grand Paris. It's not much, but it's his, and she promised to take care of it. And then, finally, he transforms, climbs out his window, and doesn't come back. Adrien Agreste is officially missing. Unofficially, people know that he's in Paris, they see him sometimes (he can't stay Chat Noir forever, after all). But no one can catch him, no one can pin him down for long enough to do anything about it. He runs, they chase, and then he just... vanishes for a little while, before turning up again a short time later where the entire thing will start over again. Chat Noir, meanwhile, has been enjoying going to school and making friends. Sure, it's not the easiest thing to have a normal school life as a superhero, but he's somehow managed it (a lot of the more annoying people backed off when they realized that Chat Noir is a gigantic dork, and any boost to their popularity is not worth being seen around such a massive goofball. The rest backed off when it became clear that Chat had absolutely no interest in fake, vapid friendships, and that he was pretty skilled at identifying them). So this is Adrien's life now: a superhero and a runaway. But it's his life, and he finds that he rather loves it, despite the difficulties and the hardships that it brings.

Make fun of Adrien to his face and to a national audience. Chat Noir keeps arguing with Félix’s Adrien about his own opinions so the next day all the news is about how much everyone thinks Chat Noir hates Adrien Agreste

Why on earth was the miraculous movie that was 1hr 40 mins better than the series that was carefully curated over around 8yrs? Thomas Astruc should be ashamed that that movie made his series and god-forsaken season 5 finale look like dogwater from the animation, to the ACTUAL ROMANCE DEVELOPING ,the songs , and that ADRIEN AND GABRIEL IDENTITY REVEAL! Cannot wait for the inevitable sequel based on that little end bit, and *loved* the running gag of ending the film right before they kissed :)

Marinette and Adrien are dating and they are so, so happy but Marinette can’t help feeling like something is missing. Adrien is the perfect boyfriend, the perfect gentleman, so she feels like something is wrong with her—and then she realizes that what’s missing is Chat Noir.

She’s in love with Chat, always has been, and now that he’s moved on and found a girlfriend and stopped flirting with her she feels like something got carved out of her chest. And yeah they’re still best friends, still partners, but something about their easy camaraderie feels poisoned.

And Adrien simply isn’t Chat. He doesn’t have the same goofy side to him that she’s come to love.

She’s torn. She loves Adrien, she does, but she loves Chat too, and how is she supposed to choose between them? But she knows that if she did have to, she’d choose Chat, and it’s tearing her up inside.

Eventually, she tells Chat everything. How she feels like a monster for it. How she can barely eat because of it. Because she is in love with her boyfriend, she wants to marry him, but she is in love with Chat and she needs him like she needs air to breathe.

She and Adrien end up breaking up because he realizes she’s unhappy with him, even though he can’t figure out why. (Surprisingly, Ladybug’s confession is not part of his decision. He loves Marinette and wants her to be happy, even if it’s not with him.) That night, Ladynoir meet up, and Ladybug confesses to Chat again, and asks him out.

They decide to reveal identities.

About four blocks of Paris get to hear a very loud Ladybug scream of “SON OF A FUCKING BITCH”

(Luckily they both take it very well and they’re back to goo-ily dating each other within the hour, if slightly more goofy and relaxed with each other going forward)

André Bourgeois decides to gift the heroes of Paris some boons, as a reward for their service (and it's good publicity for him). These are mostly ceremonial items - keys to the city, a statue, meetings with famous people, etc. - but then Chat Noir says what he'd like out of all this: An apartment. It takes some shuffling of resources, but Chat Noir is now the tenant of a rather spacious four-bedroom apartment. In completely unrelated news, Adrien Agreste has been missing for three days now. -- Adrien rather enjoys his new home, because it's the first time he's ever been anywhere that's his! Sure, he misses things from the manor, but this is better for him, he thinks. His father has been getting progressively more erratic, and Adrien honestly starting to get a bit scared (he overheard a shouting match that his father and Nathalie had when he was sneaking back in following an Akuma attack). And Nathalie is... she cares, yes, but Adrien is well aware that her first priority is his father. So he got his own place, left a letter explaining why he was gone, and snuck out. -- It takes exactly nine days for Marinette, Ladybug at the time, to find where Adrien has disappeared to: Chat's sofa, playing Ultimate Mecha Strike III and eating junk food. Adrien, for his part, has absolutely no idea how he's going to swing this in a way that doesn't make it look like Chat Noir is holding him hostage, and the look she's giving him says he doesn't have very long to work it out.

an unexpected identity reveal

summary: the last thing you expected when you turned on the tv, was to see chat noir detransform into none other than your boyfriend adrien agreste...

"turn on the tv!"

"wha–?"

you barely had any time to realize what was going on, as your roomate burst into your room. 

"turn on the tv, now!!"

you did as you were told, quickly grabbing the remote and turning on the tv. you immediately saw what was going on. it was on every channel!

chat noir and ladybug were fighting hawkmoth on top of the eiffel tower. there were news helicopters circling around them, trying to film everything. it didn't look good for the two heroes, as they were cornered by hawkmoth, only able to defend themselves instead of getting offensive. 

and then it happened. 

hawkmoth landed a devastating hit on chat noir, slipping the hero's miraculous off his finger, before tossing him to the side. within seconds, chat noir detransformed and all the cameras were on him. 

your heart stopped when they finally managed to get a clear view on him. the blonde hair. those familiar clothes. you knew the boy behind the mask. you knew him very well. 

"is… is that… adrien..?"

your roommate stuttered out, in complete shock. you wanted to tell her she was wrong. you wanted it to be anyone else. just not him. you wanted to tell her that the boy laying there couldn't possibly be your boyfriend. that it wasn't adrien. 

but it was. it really was him. 

"n-no… he…" you tried to get up, but your legs felt so heavy. your body didn't react anymore and you just sat there helplessly. you wanted nothing more than to get up and run out there. but you just couldn't. 

"why..?" you gasped out, as your eyes started to fill with tears. 

why had adrien never told you about this? why did you have to find out like this. about adrien, your boyfriend, and chat noir, the hero of paris, both being the same person. 

and why wasn't he moving anymore? why didn't he get up and fight? why was he just laying there? 

you stared at the screen, desperate to see him move again. desperate to see anything that could indicate he was doing alright. the cameras were switching back and forth between your unmasked boyfriend and ladybug and hawkmoth fighting each other. 

until a few seconds later, the screen went black. 

you could still hear the noises from outside, the helicopters flying through paris. but you couldn't see him anymore. you didn't know if adrien was alright! all you could do was sit here and wait, hoping that the cameras would turn on again and that you would get to see him again, alive and well…

"I know," he says. Her fingers dig into his back as she hugs him tighter. "So, no more lies?"

MLB Identity Reveal Idea

okay so my favourite idea for Marinette learning Adrien's secret identity is for him to tell Marinette that he's Chat Noir

but he only tells Marinette

like, post season 5, Ladybug and Chat Noir discover that someone is using the Butterfly miraculous to akumatise people. they decide not to tell each other their identities in order to keep each other safe, just like they've always done.

and one day, Adrien and Marinette are on a date when an akuma attacks. in the panic to keep everyone safe, they get locked in a room, alone, together. the only exit is a skylight that Adrien could reach if he was Chat Noir, but there's nowhere for him to hide and transform, and he can't wait it out because he has to stop the akuma.

so Adrien figures 'if there's anyone I can trust with this, its her' and just tells her. he looks his gf in the eye and says "Marinette I have a secret but you have to trust me" and he transforms right there and then.

she's staring at him in my-bf-is-my-crime-fighting-partner shock, which he misinterprets as my-bf-is-a-superhero shock. he promises to explain, kisses her cheek, and jumps through the window

Marinette transforms after him and they stop the akuma and she gets back before him so that he can let her out of the room and he won't realise that she ever left

but now Marinette knows and he knows that Marinette knows, but not that Ladybug knows

he starts taking her on Chat Noir dates (think dating spider-man style), not realising that she swings around Paris every other day. he confides in her about feeling weird that he still doesn't know who Hawkmoth was even though Ladybug knows she realises she can never tell Chat Noir. he asks her to cover for him when Akumas attack and he needs to duck away and transform. he tells Marinette about problems with Ladybug. he tells Ladybug about problems with Marinette.

at some point, Marinette asks him about his crush on Ladybug, because she's trying to understand how their love life ended up so ridiculously complicated. he immediately reassures her that he and Ladybug are "just friends now" and that "Ladybug has a bf" and that Marinette "shouldn't be jealous because she's way cooler and prettier than Ladybug anyway." Marinette is fighting to keep a straight face.

and she just has to deal with this just because he had a valid reason for telling her, but she can't just tell him because she wants too yes she can, and she can't tell Ayla either she totally could because that would unnecessarily compromise Chat Noir's identity no it wouldn't

so she's just. dealing. she does her best not to flirt with Chat Noir when she's Ladybug. she tries not to reference inside jokes that Ladybug has with Chat Noir. Tikki is going crazy

the reverse of this idea doesn't work because if Adrien discovered that Ladybug and his gf were the same person, he would not hesitate to reveal his identity
