Alternative, Season 2 Episode 14 (Part 1 of 2): "New Friends and New Romantics"
Garden Heights, February 1999
Worthington family mansion
Frances J. Worthington II and his wife Jezebelth Worthington were having a "little" argument with his eldest son Max Worthington, who had been expelled from his previous school thanks to a prank on a teacher.
Tumblr media
Frances J.: And how did you get the idea of putting a pin in the seat of your Mathematics teacher!? Do you want us to take you to a military camp!?
Max: I'm sorry pa…
Jezabelth: We haven't raised you to be a rude young man Max! But luckily for you, your father and I have made a decision…
Tumblr media
Max (Confused): You're not going to send me to the Military camp, are you?
Tumblr media
Frances J.: No, we will send you to study at a distance! Tomorrow will be your first day at that "Academie Le Tour" that is near Veronaville! Our butler has already packed your bags and will take you later to Veronaville!
Tumblr media
Max (Shocked): WHAT!?
The next day at Academie Le Tour
Priscilla, Renee and Crystal's residence
Renee and Priscilla were planning a possible sleepover as they waited for their friend Crystal to leave for school together.
Tumblr media
Priscilla: And I was thinking of bringing some movies I have at home! I'm sure Crystal will like the idea.
Tumblr media
Rénee: I'm going to see if I tell Desiree if she can help us with the snacks or if she can bring us some series that she has in her house!
On the outskirts of the residence were Phinneas and Miranda Vu, who came to talk to Crystal (especially Phinneas, who was very upset).
Tumblr media
Phinneas: How is it possible that she hasn't even come to visit us on her vacation!? Well, her "little game" is already over right now!!
Miranda: Brother, you must understand Cristy, she is a girl who wants to have new friends and study hard! We shouldn't worry about her…
Without realizing it, the two had already entered the residence, leaving the two girls confused.
Phinneas: Good morning young ladies! May I know where Crystal Vu is!?
At that moment Crystal was calmly going down the stairs, but her face changed with emotion when she saw her uncle furious with her.
Tumblr media
Crystal: Oh no…
Tumblr media
Phinneas: Hi Crystal!

Liminal (RL!Mia Winters x MC/Reader)
Fandom: Resident Evil 8/Resident Lover Genre: Fluff and angst and fluff and angst Rating: Idk T? for blood. kind of. Warnings: Major character death, major spoilers (mainly implied) for Resident Lover, minor violence (not in detail) Summary: Mia's memories layer over each other, nineteen lives and hundreds of different loops, confusing and muddling her perception of the present. There is only one constant: Love. Notes: Less of a series of scenes and more like a lot of musing, with a tiny, tiny "scene" at the end. Most of the Mia/MC vibes are implied (referenced past fwb situation, but it's implied that they had feelings beyond that). References to the MC dating a few of the other characters because loops.
She doesn’t intentionally seek the memories out, doesn’t chase the heart-killer of nostalgia, the wretched thing hiding rot behind a shiny facade. But neither does she spend any effort to avoid the trappings of the past. When the moments come, when deja vu greets her, Mia only ever lets it wash over her. Peacefully. Hauntingly. After this many lives, it is the easiest lesson to heed.
Sometimes the memories come with a smile, a soft exhale that flows into a snicker. The first time she watches you on stage, pouring your heart out as Romeo, she can’t help but remember having to help you cram for your Language Arts final. Recalls the way your lips pouted after a particularly exasperated sigh; she can trace the mental image of the way those lips curled back into a smile at one of her dumb jokes. It’s the joke itself she can’t remember. A jab at Shakespeare, probably, the man an easy choice of target.
There’s a moment (it repeats, by God it repeats, a dozen times over the loops, every instance layered on top of the last) where she sits next to you on a couch meant for three. Instinct makes her legs twitch, yearning to prop her feet up on your lap, not letting anybody sit between you. Instead, she suppresses a smile, and watches as one of your roommates all but sits on top of you. It doesn’t matter which one; in Mia’s eyes, they’re both better than Miranda, if only in this moment, for this purpose.
Other memories make her breath hitch in her throat, words stuck to the sides of her mouth like cotton, another stone to sink in her stomach. These are the ones that blend together the most, twisting further with every loop, muddling her perception of which life she’s in. Most come by accident, echoing the way she’s met you before. A bump in the hallway, papers scattering, both crouching down to pick everything up. Sudden rainfall making you scramble to share an umbrella, going back and forth between who gets most of the cover. Teaming up to take down the reigning asshole at whatever drinking game the campus is currently obsessed with.
“You look familiar- have we met before?” You’ll ask, once in a blue moon of a loop, except this time it’s more than reuniting with a childhood friend. This time it’s reaching out to pluck the heartstrings of your soulmate. One of your soulmates, that is. Mia’s response only ever comes with unearned confidence, mirth dancing on her tongue, deflecting, deflecting, denying- a hint of flirting, maybe, when she can afford it. Getting you to blush had been a favorite pastime of hers, once, twice, many times. Even if it never extended into anything more official than sharing a bed.
Seeing you at parties makes her feel like so little has changed. Always the same drink of choice, always too readily egged on by friends. If she squinted, it would be easy to put herself in Daniela’s place at your side, and so Mia never lets her gaze linger for too long. When the cups get too deep for you, it’s far too easy to stop herself from intervening. She never did before. Even when she should have. Those are the timelines where Angie does more for you than Mia’s past self could ever dream of.
It almost makes up for the time she finds your body crumpled in front of the doll’s car, crimson splashed across the bumper. She stares, only for a moment, wondering when she stopped feeling anything at the sight of your corpse. Then she catches a glimpse of three familiar fanatics in the crowd, makes note of the way their horror differs from those around them. Figures their attempts at keeping you out of the spotlight would go too far, eventually. Figures that the real nostalgia greets her fingers as they wrap around the handle of her knife. Revenge was an old friend- just one rarely visited these days.
Hard for her to thrive on revenge when she’s got the bloodiest hands of them all. Strange how the feelings shifted over time, guilt warping into freeing comfort. The first time she killed you, the first time she brought on a new loop across a knife’s edge, she almost threw up. Stared at the deep cuts and lost herself in the memory of finding Miranda cradling your lifeless body, the end of your past incarnation. It made her stomach churn, made her heart drop, and fully solidified her need to make sure the loop would meet a perfect end (the only way to guarantee you’d never meet that fate again).
By now, the blood flows freely, remorse a trinket left forgotten on dusty shelves. It’s for the best. Better her than someone else, better for her to soak your bond in blood than to let it rot in the open. Ending the loop fills her with relief, with joy, as she invokes her promise to give you not just a happy ending, but the right one. She loses track of how many times she’s knocked you down or out, how many loops she’s filled with blood, how many times she’s allowed you the comfort of bleeding out in her arms.
Ironic, then, that you never accuse her of murdering you, only someone far less important. More ironic yet that the finger of blame forces her to recall the life that bound your souls together. But that memory doesn’t perfectly layer over the present, when she’s not burning by your side, dying with your name on her lips. The way you look at her almost makes her miss the flames (the next moment she focuses on has your hands touch in passing, knuckles brushing up against each other, and she feels an entirely different kind of fire).
There are times where she wonders how much you remember. Not consciously, not truly, but which memories are etched into your soul itself. Now those are the moments that test her resolve, that tempt her to chain herself to pursuing the past the same way that Miranda does. All it takes to make her heart stop is for you to tilt your head to the side, eyes not quite narrowed, a sly smile paired with a twinkle in your eye. Something about that expression always lets her know you’re on the verge of remembering something. Half of the time you’ll follow it up with a carefully worded question, never sure if Mia feels the same deja vu that you do.
Your timing isn’t always perfect; she can’t blame you, not with the way her memories layer over each other, fighting to see which controls her present.
One hand in her pocket, clutching her switchblade, the other placed gently on your shoulder. Now that the election is over (again. how many times have you won? why do you never walk away, even when Bela begs you?), she needs to remove you. But your eyes light up as soon as she touches you. Head tilt? Check. Sly smile? Check. You should be scared by the way she’s looking at you, by the way she has you cornered on the balcony, but somehow your mind has skipped past the familiar danger and right into the familiar flirting. Aren’t you supposed to be in love with Bela this time around?
“Care to dance?” You ask, offering your hand. How long has it been since the two of you danced?... Not since Miranda refused to go with you, a lifetime or two or five ago, long before the loop. Mia had been the one to ask you then. Her expression now must mirror what yours had been that day. Surprise, amusement, and adoration. Of course she agrees.
By the time Bela interrupts, the way she does in too many loops, Mia is grateful. It had been hard enough to avoid kissing you in that past life, it was almost impossible now. Still, the Dimitrescu stands frozen for a moment, her own layered memories not finding any match for the sight. She’s supposed to be tackling Mia, knocking her off the balcony, body breaking in the bushes below. Neither of them move, trying to calculate a route to familiar endings.
Mia misjudges her decision, ruins the feelings, guarantees that you’ll harbor a hesitance to dance with her for all loops and lives to follow. She holds your hand, she holds her knife. She holds your hand, she takes your life. For once, Bela is the one who’s two steps behind, her shove coming too late, even if it still carries Mia off of the ledge.
Death never takes either of you for terribly long. Miranda pulls back the fog of limbo, breaks the rules, makes the void spit you both back out, resetting the loop. One wakes up with memories of everything, the other with only impressions. Lingering pieces of nineteen strange dreams, and a hundred futures cycling over one another with interlocking grooves, the only set pattern being love and love and wretched, bloody love. Mia doesn’t chase the nostalgia, doesn’t seek out the ways she knows will lead to love, to the familiar warmth of your heart next to hers. Why would she? All roads lead back to you.

Lmaooo
Hear me out- in the future when season five of PJO, when Lin is standing over Luke's body, sobbing his eyes out, someone makes an edit that takes that clip and then transitions it to Lin as Alexander Hamilton crying over Philip's body this time, with Olivia Rodrigo in the background singing "do you get deja vu, huh?"
If I had a nickel for every time Lin Manuel Miranda's character's son died in their respective medias and it was entirely the former's fault, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Modern Celebrity AU Headcanons
Because I'm writing a thing for it and it's on my mind.
The triplets' matching tattoos were Julieta's idea; they got them when Bruno moved back to New York after the accident.
Casita is exactly like Casita, maybe a little bigger, and is located between Malibu and Santa Monica. Pedro and Alma built it not long after their wedding, and Alma is convinced it's alive and/or haunted by Pedro. It was damaged slightly in the Northridge Quake not long after Los Trillozos broke up.
They don't have their gifts but they KINDA do? Like, following Julieta's recipes is guaranteed comfort food, the weather tends to reflect Pepa's moods, Bruno gets deja vu a lot (and may or may not have prophetic dreams), Isabela has a green thumb, Dolores has perfect pitch and echoic memory, Luisa's as big and buff as canon and a natural athlete, Camilo...see below, and Antonio bonds easily with animals. Oh, and Mirabel is fashion.
Camilo's a VERY good actor; their big breakthrough role was a Tatiana Maslany/Orphan Black-style one actor with lots of roles situation and they killed it. They can morph their voice and mannerisms in uncanny ways, almost like a shapesifter!
Bruno has a tricky relationship with his elder nieces because he was at his worst while they were growing up, and eventually they were old enough to figure out why he did what he did. When he came home after the accident it took a while for them to trust him, but things do get better.
Meanwhile Camilo and Mirabel and later Antonio took to him right away, and their acceptance helped him a lot in his recovery.
Felix was a session musician who worked with Pepa on her first solo album, "[insert storm-related title here]", and fell in love with her. They had a whirlwind (lol) romance culminating in a destination wedding in Puerto Rico. Some jackass whose name rhymes with Schmuno went on a bender and missed his flight. The delayed ceremony took place as a hurricane came ashore.
Agustin is a lawyer. IDK how h and Juli met but they eloped. It was amazing.
Luisa is a Olympian (living the dream!). Do no ask me her sport I go back and forth. Probably some kind of track and field.
Bruno is on record stating that, if a movie is made about his life, Lin-Manuel Miranda is not allowed to play him.
Asks open, feel free to request elaboration or ask about other aspects of this 'verse.

writing patterns tag game
Thank you @rowanisawriter for the tag!
Tagging @theluckywizard and @nirikeehan, if you would like to share.
Rules: list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern!
It seems like I want to get straight to the point, LOL! Not a lot of detail in these, it looks like I prefer to follow up with it.
1) Ashna never thought herself one for performances, but she’s ready to outdo herself tonight. (the orlesian drop)
2) There’s a fissure running through her life. (savior complex)
3) It seemed like the right thing to do, bringing Miranda down to Horizon with her. (trust fall)
4) A Seeker, straight from Val Royeaux, delivers their news. (a heart that laughter has made sweet)
5) It takes two days to finish his verification. (tripwire)
6) She’s been at Skyhold long enough to know when something is wrong. (risky business)
7) He’s yelling at her, and she doesn’t hear a word of it. (shockwave)
8) She can feel the shift in the air the moment the words leave her mouth—her companions’ disapproval and suspicion swirl around her, but it’s nothing compared to the flashes of resignation she sees in the templars’ eyes. (safe house)
9) The whole meeting, he can’t shake the feeling of deja vu coming over him. (a rose by any other name)
10) Josephine digs in her heels and braces herself for both the walk across Haven’s icy grounds and the conversation she needs to have. (hold tight to everyday life)

Ch. 21 Trial
For the thousandth time Donna tugged on her vest, messing up her entire outfit and you having to fix her. She was wearing her red suit, the one she was wearing when you first saw her. It was your absolute favorite outfit on her, the red complimented her skin beautifully and the way she looked so confident in it made your heart flutter. You folded down the collar of her shirt, fixed her necktie, and held your hands on her chest. Her eyes didn't look at you, they looked everywhere else nervously but you reached up and cupped her face, forcing her eyes to momentarily look at you. You smiled at her gently, leaning up and pressing a gentle kiss to her lips, the cold ceramic of her mask made it difficult to press further. She kissed back half-heartedly, breaking the kiss quickly and fidgeting with the buttons of her suit coat. You wore the best outfit that you had, smoothing out the wrinkles one final time before taking her hand into yours. The walk to the cabin was startling quiet, not even a droplet of water to break the tension as you walked beside Donna.
If she held your hand any harder she would break the bones, although uncomfortable and painful you didn't want to let go. With your other hand you tightened the cloak around your shoulders; it was the one Donna originally gifted you, Angie finished washing it after your trek through the mud. Donna stopped in front of the cabin door, you flinched when her hand tightened impossibly more on your own. She shot you a look when you sucked in a sharp breath, quickly releasing your hand and holding her own with her other.
"Sorry." She muttered.
"It's fine. I understand you're nervous."
Donna took a deep, shaky breath before pushing the door open into Mother Miranda's cabin seeing it empty. She sighed heavily, her shoulders visibly relaxing before pushing the door further open for you. She closed the door behind you and you walked the same path you did a few days ago, getting a strong sense of deja vu. Donna stopped in her tracks, you ran into her back because you were busy looking at the ground rather than in front of you. You peeked around her to see a huge crowd around the church, Donna started to hyperventilate violently. Acting fast you turned her around and cupped her face again, her eyes were squeezed shut and she instantly held her hands over yours.
"Donna. Donna, look at me."
Donna's eye opened, it was wet with oncoming tears as your eyes darted between the two opposite eyes. You soothingly ran your thumb along her prominent cheekbone, you held her gaze and said nothing until her breathing slowed. With your other thumb you brushed the tears away from her eye, you pulled her head down to your level and kissed the top of her mask.
"You know you couldn't remain unknown forever right?"
"I was doing fine until you came along."
"You're welcome." You replied sharkishly.
Donna glanced at you then scoffed, but her lips twitched upward before she straightened up and breathed deeply.
"Besides, you and I both know that if you don't show yourself, you will only admit your guilt." You reason.
"But I'm not guilty." She countered.
"They don't know that. I do."
Donna nodded her head then turned around, she reached back with her hand and you took it at once. She proceeded to walk again, this time faking her confidence with her head held high and her chest puffed out. She looked a little silly but you weren't going to comment, not wanting her to lose whatever shred of self-assurance she conjurged. The villagers crowded the doors of the church, everyone was yelling something and you couldn't make out anything. One by one villagers turned around as Donna approached, they backed away to make a clear path to the door. Their yells dulled to mumbled whispers, as you walked through the cleared path you made out bits and pieces.
"Is that?" One villager whispered.
"There's no way.." Another whispered.
"Where's Lord Beneviento? That's a woman."
"Murderer."
"Freak."
You tightened your hold on Donna's hand, she squeezed in acknowledgement until she reached the wide church door. She pulled it open and ushered you in first, following behind you with a loud thud from the door. At the podium was, of course, Mother Miranda with Donna's empty seat behind her. Salvatore and Karl were seated off to Miranda's left, Alcina off to the right. You walked down the aisle and glanced at the pews; Bela, Daniela, and Cassandra sat in the pew directly behind their mother, all three of them smiled at you sympathetically. Angie sat next to them which surprised you, how a woman of her age managed to move so fast was beyond you.
On the other side were four other people, they must be the villagers that investigated Mother Miranda. One man was around Angie's age and he had a thick blue jacket on with fur around the collar. The man next to him was younger, his son from the similarities in facial structure and he wore the same kind of jacket only it was brighter and less ragged. There were two women at the end of the pew, also an older and younger one but complete opposites. The older one was wrapped head to toe in a red, wool shawl making you unable to see her features. The younger woman you knew as Ina, Daniela's girlfriend. She was the only one to look at you and give you a small wave before turning her attention back to the front.
Donna tugged your shoulder, indiciating for you to pause. You looked behind at her and she motioned toward Angie, glancing between her and the pew you sigh and move along to sit next to her. You hold your hands in your lap, scrunching the material of your outfit in your fist nervously, another hand unravels yours and interlocked the fingers. You glance over to see Angie looking forward but when you look down you see her hand in yours. You looked over at Donna who was partially shadowed but you could feel her eyes on you, subconsciously making you squeeze Angie's hand. Mother Miranda cleared her throat to gather everyone's attention.
"Thank you all for coming, I now start the trial of Tatiana Linnea Dimitrescu and call forth Mr. Olsen to present."
You watch the older man stand with the help of the younger one, the older one leaned against the young one for support as the two of them walked toward the podium. You lean over and catch Cassandra's eye who locks onto you and leans down across Angie.
"Why does she have your last name?" You whisper.
" Some of our servants take our last name as a source of status, but most of them take it because they were disowned by their families and have no last name." She whispers back.
Angie makes a shushing sound, both you and Cassandra sit back up and look up at Mr. Olsen as he taps some papers against the podium, coughing into a handkerchief briefly then stuffing the material into his coat pocket. He presented evidence pointing to Donna being the culprit, although it was evidence that everyone in the room already knew. Angie was called upon next, recounting in exact detail of what she witnessed the night and morning of the murder. Saying how you were there in the manor that night, and you didn't leave until early the next morning and that Donna ate breakfast. Although it was a huge dent in Mr. Olsen's theory, it now pointed a huge, neon arrow right at you.
Alcina came to your defense which only sparked a further debate of back and forth bantering. Your anxiety died down and now you found it hard to stay awake, your eyes fluttering and your head bobbing up and down in a futile attempt to stay alert. They kept talking in circles, repeating the same information that everyone here already knew: Tatiana was found in the river, blood trail led to Donna's manor, signs of a struggle and fighting near the church, you were seen near the sight, etc.
It was Ina who finally stood and ordered the body of Tatiana to be presented, claiming she had a smoking gun to put aside all doubts. Now your interest has been reignited, although Alcina looked like she was ready to commit another act of violence. Tatiana's body was rolled out on a gurney by two other maids who had the Dimitrescu logo on their uniform. She was covered with a sheet and Ina asked she be kept that way except for one arm. You leaned forward in your seat as Ina took out one of Tatiana's arms to show an unmistakable bruise in the shape of hand print on the wrist.
"If Mother Miranda would allow it, I think we should have Mr. Moreau, Miss L/N, and Miss Beneviento put their hands into this handprint. Whoever matches the print we can say without a doubt struggled with Tatiana, and most likely this handprint belongs to the killer."
The silence that followed was deafening, even the villagers outside the church had died down in anticipation for the results of the trial. You stood up first, Ina moved to the side and you walked up to the body slowly. You looked over the sheet then up at Alcina who nodded at you, giving you permission to proceed. Ina held up the arm while you wrapped your hand around the print, Tatiana's wrist was incredibly tiny, tiny enough that your fingers overlapped themselves when you fully clutched it. Obviously the print didn't belong to you. Donna was next, she approached the corpse and did the same as you, looking to Alcina first before continuing. Her fingers were long and slender, although they grasped the wrist in the exact manner, the bruises were too large to fit her fingers. Next was Salvatore who scoffed and crossed his arms.
"This is stupid. She's been dead for how long? There's no way the bruise is accurate now."
"Sounds like someone is scared their hand will fit." Ina threatened.
Salvatore scoffed again and stood up, he approached Ina with clear hostility in his step which was enough for Bela to grab ahold of Daniela's arm. Salvatore grabbed the wrist away from Ina, and slipped his wrist just enough the print didn't match.
"See? No match." He said proudly.
"Hold it properly." Mother Miranda ordered.
Salvatore stood there, he twisted his grip and his hand, of course, matched the bruise perfectly. No one looked surprised except the three other villagers on the other side of the aisle. The older woman gasped loudly and covered her mouth with her hand. Salvatore dropped the arm with an audible thud against the table.
"That doesn't prove anything." He started with his voice raised.
"Enough!" Mother Miranda stood from her seat next to Donna, "return to your seat Moreau. Miss Hansen, thank you for your input, you may return to your seat."
Mother Miranda waved her hand toward the table, the two maids went to the opposite side and pushed the table out of view once again. Mother Miranda stood at the podium, your heart shot to your throat feeling it throb and choke you with each beat.
"I have heard all the evidence. I will take into consideration any last testimony before I voice my verdict."
Salvatore opened his mouth but was shut down by Miranda raising her hand, "I will consider any testimony we haven't heard already. Simply stating you're not guilty is neither helpful nor wanted."
No one said anything, everyone was leaning in their seats, even Donna looked more rigid than usual. Angie and you held hands so tight that both of you were slowly losing blood flow to the fingers.
"I have something to add."
Everyone looked at Heisenberg, he had his feet propped on a turned over pew but dropped them as she stood up from his chair. You could feel Alcina roll her eyes and scoff under her breath.
"Always with the dramatics." She muttered loud enough that you heard, but seemingly no one else.
"What do you wish to add, Heisenberg?" Mother Miranda asked.
Salvatore grabbed onto Karl's jacket to pull him down to his level, whispering something in his ear. Karl shoved him off hard enough he stumbled back but managed to catch himself on a nearby pillar.
"I didn't want to say anything because frankly I'm over this whole bullshit, but if I don't then we'll have to do this all over again and I don't want that. The day of our meeting where you ordered to kill my dogs, Salvatore and I were talking when he spotted the wench eavesdropping on us. He asked me to help dispose of her but I refused not wanting to get wrapped up in his crap any further."
"And what, pray tell, were you two talking about that was worth taking a life?" Alcina snapped.
"Shut the hell up Karl!" Salvatore yelled.
"Prince Charming here had me order my dogs to chase Y/N, he wanted her to go running to his domain but things took a turn and, well, you all know what happened. Because of that, you," he pointed to Mother Miranda, "ordered me to kill off my babies. I care more about them than I do this pathetic worm so I'll tell you everything I know in exchange that my pups don't have to be punished."
"I'll consider it, but you still need to be punished for your original crime."
"Fair enough."
"Karl I swear-" Salvatore started.
Karl turned to him, "you swear what? I'm twice your size, you overgrown fish with legs, not some dainty woman you can toss around. You lay a finger on me and my dogs take all ten of yours ya hear?"
Salvatore swallowed and took a step back, Karl adjusted his coat and cleared his throat loudly and exaggeratedly.
"After our meeting a few days ago, Salvatore approached me to ream my ass about my dogs not going along with his plan. That maid overheard us and Salvatore attacked her, saying she was going to tell you or super bitch over there" he waved his hand toward Alcina, "that he planned the whole thing. Then he asked me to help him dispose of her."
As if Angie read your mind, her grip on your hand turned into one made of iron, her other hand grabbing onto your upper arm to keep you in place. You wanted to bash Salvatore's face in, scratch his eyeballs out, never in your life had you felt more violent and angry than you did now.
"That is very serious." Mother Miranda stated.
"If you want more evidence, check his house." Karl chuckled.
Karl made eye contact with you and gave you a wink, you lunged from your seat but Angie's grip was true as she held you in place. You were trembling with anger, in fact, almost everyone was as their eyes turned now to the slimy, disgusting creature of the deep known as Salvatore Moreau. You could hear the girls shift in their seat, waiting, begging for a word from their mother to do something. You looked over at Donna but couldn't see her face in the shadows yet her body language was rigid, if she hadn't been wearing gloves you would swear her knuckles were white from how hard she held her hands.
"In light of this new confession, I have made my verdict-"
"But-" Interrupted Salvatore.
"Silence!" Miranda screamed.
She recomposed herself and took a deep breath, "I hereby find Donna Beneviento in the case of Tatiana Dimitrescu, not guilty. I also bestow my deepest apologies to you and Miss L/N."
Everything released, everyone around you let out an audible sigh of relief that even the building seemed to shrink as if it had been holding in a breath too. Your eyes remained on Donna who leaned into her chair, her entire body caving from how tense she had been. When you tried to stand to go to her, Angie tugged you back down and shook her head when you shot her a glare.
"As for you Salvatore Moreau, I hereby-"
"I invoke the right as lord to a challenge. I challenge Donna Beneviento."
"What?!" You and the girls all screamed at once.
Mother Miranda turned to face Salvatore fully now, "challenges have been banned for over a century."
"For the villagers, yes, but not for lords. I checked."
Mother Miranda snapped her fingers, and in came a woman running from the very back of the church dressed in a simple black robe, with white and gold stole around her shoulders. Miranda leaned over and whispered in her ear, the woman nodded and scurried back to the back of the church behind the altar. Minutes passed when the woman returned with a large book, Miranda took the book and opened it on the podium. While she searched for whatever she was looking for, you leaned over to Cassandra again.
"What's a challenge?" You asked.
"Before this village had actual laws, trials, even before their first Mother, villagers used to settle disputes by fighting. One would invoke the challenge, the one being challenged chooses the means of fighting. Sometimes it was to the death, other times until one is knocked out. Most disputes died before any actual fighting took place, many people chose to forfeit according to records."
"They were banned around the time the third or second mother took over a couple hundred years ago." Angie added.
You sat back up, looking between Salvatore and Donna before Mother Miranda slammed the book shut and practically threw the book back at the young woman.
"I'm afraid Mr. Moreau is correct. Miss Beneviento, do you accept this challenge?"
Donna stood up, she took a step into the light that reflected off her mask and made her look as though she was glowing. She fixed her coat by rebuttoning the button she undid then brushed her hands over the top of it.
"I accept. My weapon of choice is the rapier." She answered.
"Very well. Ceremony site, dusk. We fight to the death, the winner is absolved of all crimes, takes the other's portion of the village, and Y/N." Salvatore added.
"No." Donna answered.
"Then you forfeit."
"Y/N is a human being, not a good to be traded. I accept everything else."
"Fine." Salvatore spat.
Salvatore approached Donna, he stuck his hand out and Donna shook it before he stormed out of the church. You sat there dumbstruck. As much as you would love to see Moreau's head on a spike, that meant Donna would have to fight. You launched yourself off the pew and approached Donna with such hostility that she took a step back from you with her hands raised in front of her.
"What are you thinking?!" You scream, hitting her square in the chest with the side of your fist, "now is when you decide to let your pride take over? You're no better than a man."
Donna took your hands into hers, holding them tightly to keep you from hitting her any further. You panted heavily, now trying to headbutt her but giving up and resting your forehead against her chest.
"This has nothing to do with my pride, love. If I did not accept, he would have taken everything from me. Including you."
"I can handle myself. I would fight him again in a heartbeat."
"I know." Donna leaned down to your ear, "but would you kill him?"

Brain go brrrr I'm sorry
The aftermath angst of this whole "Miranda-shifting-into-Alcina" thing would be wild.
Because, it would fuck with the daughters (especially after seeing Mia go shit wild.) Miranda or not, seeing Mia stab what looks like their mom will fuck them up (canon event). They all have nightmares about it. They aren't necessarily wary of Mia, they don't think she'd ever do that to Alcina for real, but still. They're definitely more clingy to Alcina after (Bela and Dani especially) as well, for a while anyway
Alcina just has... so much to process. The person she looked up to as a God(/mother figure) just stabbed her in the back in the worst way. Left her to rot under the influence of horse tranquilizers, locked in a cage, tried to take her place. Miranda could have done who knows what to Mia, or any of the girls, and Alcina would have been powerless to stop it. There's just so much hurt, and anger, and fear.
And Mia's just... tired. So tired. There's a lot of things on her mind. The fact she didn't catch on sooner, the knowledge that Alcina was in trouble and she had no clue, the thought that she was intimate with Miranda in any way (it makes her shudder to think about. Among other very confusing feelings on if this means she cheated and ideas of consent. A discussion she'll have to bring up with Alcina eventually.). That she killed a deity. The mental image of murdering her wife (even if it wasn't her wife) (This in particular is giving her mild deja vu)
Among other repercussions for general witnesses of the murder. (Some are relieved, some are pissed, most are just scared of Mia in particular)
So many feelings.

Spotify end-of-year overview!
Tumblr media
So that is what Spotify claims.
However I requested a download of my data through Spotify to find the truth, because once again I was missing K3.
Tumblr media
(^Because the GDPR is the thing that makes this all possible, it should get some recognition)
This year seems actually less off than other years, but again I was right in missing K3.
These are my actual top artists:
1) Taylor Swift (with 7432 minutes listened) 2) K3 (with 5683 minutes listened) 3) Olivia Rodrigo (with 1981 minutes listened) 4) Ed Sheeran (with 1779 minutes listened) 5) SIX (with 1048 minutes listened)
This seems pretty comparable to what Spotify is saying, of course with K3 inserted. HOWEVER, Lin-Manuel Miranda is only 9th on my list?? The Matilda the Musical cast, Queen and Shania Twain are all ranked higher. A possible answer to this is that it seems like the data Spotify gave me has trouble with tracks featuring multiple artists. All those songs only list one artist. It could be that all the musical ensemble songs are therefore not properly taken into account.
Okay, so moving on to my top songs, I once read that your wrapped top 10 is supposed to be accurate and the other 90 songs are more randomly placed to give a better division of songs in the playlist, so lets list all 10 songs they gave me:
1) The Man 2) All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) 3) good 4 u 4) Would've, Could've, Should've 5) We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor's Version) 6) Man! I Feel Like A Woman! 7) brutal 8) Promises 9) Anti-Hero 10) Eyes Closed
And the top 10 songs I got from the data:
1) The Man (with 110 streams) 2) All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) (with 104 streams) 3) Kijk ons nou (uit Liefde Voor Muziek) - Live (with 89 streams) 4) Would've, Could've, Should've (with 85 streams) 5) good 4 u (with 84 streams) 6) We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor's Version) (with 84 streams) 7) Part of Your World (Carly Rae Jepsen cover) (with 81 streams) 8) deja vu (with 79 streams) 9) brutal (with 78 streams) 10) Oya Lélé (with 77 streams)
And these are the spots of the songs not in my actual top 10:
11) Man! I Feel Like A Woman! (with 74 streams) 12) Eyes Closed (with 74 streams) 13) Promises (with 73 streams) 15) Anti-Hero (with 71 streams)
There are 2 K3 songs in my top 10!!
Some things to note here is that while the order is kinda fucked up beyond missing K3, it might not be as bad as it seems, because 1) I don't know the exact cut-off time for the data collection for Wrapped. I think it was up to november 14th, because that gets the minutes listened to Taylor Swift closest to what the slideshow was telling me (3 minutes off), but it could also be November 12th or 13th (I barely listened to Spotify on the 13th, so I can't say anything about that, but the 12th brings my top song amount closest to what Spotify tells me).
And 2) when I pause a song and later continue, it gets listed as two plays in the data. This could be fixed in my stats program, but I haven't done that (yet) so that might put the number of streams I counted a bit higher than the number of actual streams, and especially since some numbers are very close together this might change the order. We can also see this when I sort the songs by number of minutes listened. This will obviously put all too well (10 minute version) on top, but with only 835 minutes listened, instead of the more than 1000 you would expect from 104 streams.
And that was me dragging Spotify for this year, however it actually sort of made sense this year so it wasn't too bad for them. The only question I still have is: WHERE IS K3???

Alternative Season 2 Episode 4: "My Plan"
Riverblossom Hills, early 1998
House of Catherine Viejo and Betty Goldenstein
The two great lifelong friends Catherine and Betty have experienced many things over the years, from failed marriages to the loss of a great friend... But not everything is bad as it seems, apparently Betty has set her sights in that Scottish farmer named Leod.
Betty (Washing her hands as she stared at Leod, who was helping to plant some crops): "To his bad luck, there aren't that many young women here in town, but I get the feeling that Leod has feelings for me... Is this going to be a joke and try to take my money?
On her way to the garden, the 65-year-old woman ran into her friend Catherine, who was talking to a couple she had never seen in her life.
Catherine (smiling): What great memories of caring for little Irene and baby Ashlee! And I'm so much happier that you all moved to Riverblossom Hills!
Tumblr media
Trisha (Hugging her husband Ryan and looking at her friend Catherine with a smile): We're glad to see you again Katy too! Irene and Ashlee will love this news so much, especially Ivy who will be starting classes soon there. very popular academy called "Academie Le Tour" and will need some help haha!
Ryan (Thinking about everything that happened in these years): Hey Honey, how old are Ivy and Ash?
Trisha and Catherine laughed at Ryan, noticing Betty's presence.
Betty (a little uncomfortable): What are you doing Catherine?
Catherine: I was here talking to some friends of mine: The Thaaroth family! This is Trisha, This is Ryan and they have two lovely daughters: Irene and Ashlee!
Trisha and Ryan: Nice to meet you, Mrs. Goldenstein! It's a pleasure to meet you!
Betty (looking at Leod, who was waiting for her): Anyway, nice to meet you, gentlemen Thaaroth... if you'll excuse me, I'll be right back.
The woman went out to talk to the farmer, who was smiling at her.
Leod (While grabbing a shovel): Ready Miss Goldenstein, I've finished everything in the garden! I hope you can grow a lot of vegetables...
Betty (with a big smile at the brown-haired man) Thank you so much Leod, you're super nice!
At that moment Leod hugged Betty very affectionately, causing confusion in the older woman, who responded to the hug.
Tumblr media
Leod: I love you so much, Miss Betty, I've really fallen in love with you!
Meanwhile in Downtown
Park family house
Clementine and her daughter Desiree were having breakfast while they talked about a possible move.
Desiree (while she ate): Mom, One question, don't you think the house is too small for both of us?
Tumblr media
Clementine (finishing eating): Honey, this house belonged to your grandparents, and although it would be nice to expand the space, I mean... You need a room of your own haha! Although your "room" is very nice, don't you think? .
Desiree (Looking across the room): Mom, my bedroom is a part of the living room...
Clementine (Getting up to go to work): Well honey, I have to go!, I'll be back later, you know, in which case it's late, you can order a pizza or there's bread for you to make sandwiches!, I love you!.
Once her mom left her, Desiree called her best friend Bianca Monty to spend the day with her. The two girls were watching TV and talking.
Tumblr media
Bianca: Apparently Kent will continue studying remotely, his dad is too strict with him... I wish he could study with us... While Priscilla, although she doesn't want to say it, is in love with my brother, she even scared a girlfriend! from Tony!.
Desiree: Really? I can't wait to get back to school.
Bianca: Relax Desiree!!, next week we'll go back to class!
The two girls continued to watch television. Meanwhile in Strangertown, House of the Vu family
The young Crystal was insisting her mother to enroll her in "Academie Le Tour"
Tumblr media
Crystal (pleading): Come on mom!! Academie Le Tour has a lot of interesting things!! Besides, Strangertown is too horrible!..
Miranda: Crys, are you sure you want to go to that academy? Don't you think it's better to stay here?
Crystal: No mom! Plus there are now scholarships to get into Academie Le Tour!
The blonde girl left the house, where her uncle was talking with some friends and in the distance she saw Lazlo Curious (that boy she didn't like at all)
Tumblr media
Crystal: "Oh no... Here's Lazlo... When will it be the day he decides to take a shower?"
Lazlo: Hi Crys, you look so cute today!
Tumblr media
Crystal (disgusted): Uhh thanks...
Lazlo (moving closer to the blonde): Hey Crystal, I want to tell you something...
Tumblr media
At that moment, the black-haired boy tried to kiss the blonde, who, very disgusted, rejected him, while Dr. Vu looked at everything seriously.
Tumblr media
Dr Vu: What are you doing so close to my beloved niece!? SHE CAN'T WASTE HER TIME WITH YOU!!
Lazlo: Mr. Vu, Crystal can already decide what to do even if she wants to go to that academy that is far from here, she can do it!
That made Phinneas turn to see her niece furiously.
Dr Vu: Crystal comes home, let's talk now!!
Upon entering the house, the well-known doctor began to scold Crystal about this idea that she had
Tumblr media
Dr Vu: How come you're going to Academie Le Tour without our permission!? Didn't your mom tell you that place is very dangerous!?
Crystal: But the descendants of the Capps and Monty study there! It doesn't seem so bad!
Dr Vu (Serious): I'm just trying to show you that the world outside is very dangerous, I don't want any idiot to treat you badly and take advantage of you... Go straight to your room and finish reading the books I brought you!
Crystal (angry): Ush!!... It's okay!!
This was not going to stay like this, Crystal already had a great plan with her friend Renee Aguilera, which was to escape (well, Crystal, since Renee did have permission from her parents) to go to Academie Le Tour . Once she had changed her clothes, Crystal looked at herself in the mirror and smiled, since at last she would be free from her uncle's laws.
Tumblr media
Crystal (Thinking): "Will my mom be up? I want to say goodbye to her before I go."
When she left her, her mother was indeed awake, who hugged her and decided to advise her.
Tumblr media
Miranda: Daughter... I'm sure you'll live many adventures in that place, I know you'll have a great time... Although your uncle can be very overprotective, he loves you very much... We want you to be a very intelligent girl and that you don't fall in love with the first idiot that crosses your path.... Like I did... Please take care of yourself
Crystal (hugging her mom): Okay mom, I'll send you a letter every week, see you later!

Billy is very much a crier. He will cry at the drop of a pin. In 1994, he took his three year old nephew, Damien, to see The Lion King so Max and Lucas could have a date night. Needless to say that as soon as Mufasa died, Damien had to put down the popcorn and give his uncle the wad of butter stained napkins just to keep him under control. And when Damien was ten and his little sister, Miranda, was six, he took them to see Monsters Inc., Damien had the strangest sense of deja vu at the end when his big bad uncle Billy broke down at the sight of Sully and Boo reuniting.
-Because I love the idea of Billy taking his niece and nephew to see movies, here’s some of the most memorable ones. The Lion King was one, and Monsters Inc. was two, but some others include taking Damien to see Iron Man in 2008, taking Miranda to see Freaky Friday in 2003, and taking both of them to see Avatar in 2009. Probably the most memorable, though, was in 2010, when Miranda wanted to see Tangled, but she was 15, and she didn’t want her friends to make fun of her for geeking out over a Disney Princess movie. So, of course, Billy decided that if his niece’s friends would make fun of her for something as simple as a movie and take the joy out of it for her, he was going to have to do something to fix that and take the attention away from her. So, this 43 year old man goes out and buys a purple dress, a plastic tiara and fixes himself up to look like Rapunzel in the movie, then goes to pick up his niece. They both loved the movie, and after seeing her uncle walk into the theater and not even care about who was staring at him dressed like that, Miranda decided that she didn’t care either. If her friends were going to laugh at her for liking a fantastic movie, she could find better friends.

SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS / SPOILS

Hiii lovely! <33
For the ask game: 😨 🏆 🥳
Cause alkslajsk I love your writing!! *mwah*
Hi darling <333 thank you ahhhh!!
😨- The fanfiction that made you leave your comfort zone ooh. I haven't written much that is far out of my comfort zone, do you get deja vu when she’s with you? was the most angsty thing I had written up until that point (and with no happy ending) so that was a bit out of my usual comfort zone. but I am writing a Miranda fic currently as well as a Jan Stevens fic which are both kicking my ass as I'm very nervous about getting characterization right, that's one of the things I'm most worried about in all of my writing tbh.
🏆- The fanfiction you are the most proud of answered here :)
🥳- The fanfiction you had the most fun writing You Don’t Have to Pretend With Me - I loved writing young!Larissa and I'm going to do that more in the future, and I also LOVE Mean Girls and the specific song this one is based on and just djhsfjkhafdlk it was such a joy to write this!!

Teacher-AU Part 3!
This time I would like to discuss among other things a fact from the first part more in detail! It is about the sealed memories of Oz's friends. Interestingly enough, they are not 100% locked away. Somebody must have messed up.;)
Since his old friends have returned to Spooky High, they keep having glimpses of memories of their former lives. It especially involves memories of events that they have already experienced once during their school days. The whole thing is usually triggered by certain memorable events, which were particularly important to the respective character, or by specific encounters. Like for example the first meeting between Amira, Brian and Vicky and some of their six popular classmates.;)(We're only talking about the first year of school at this point for now. That's why Cal is left out here for now, and we'll definitely come back to Zoe later, because she's a special case). Of course, at first it's extremely confusing for the characters when they experience such little flashbacks and have a feeling of déjà vu because of it. It's only as it becomes more noticeable and regular that Vicky, Brian, and Amira begin to talk about their strange memories, realizing that it wasn't just them.
In comparison, the rest of their classmates remain silent on the subject.
Whereas Polly most likely assumes that she is just on a trip when she has such flashbacks.
Vera, on the other hand, takes a more analytical approach, but is too suspicious to talk to anyone about it until she knows the cause.
Miranda may think it's a strange new confusion tactic by the air people.
Damien is extremely irritated every time it happens. Which means he compensates by arsoning and beating up some classmates until he feels better.
Scott, on the other hand, finds it rather funny and is probably the first one out of the group to say a word about these funny "dreams".
Liam. Well I think Liam will also be rather puzzled about it like Damien, but more like Vera will keep quiet about it and think about it in silence.
So now that we know that it is possible for old memories to leak out, some of you may be asking the question:
Can it happen that Oz appears in one of these memories?
The simple answer is no. But, as we all know, it's never that simple.
Oz's existence in the memories of his old friends and acquaintances is as if erased, although it is sometimes noticeable. For example, someone remembers that another person (Oz) was present at a certain event or conversation, but not who it was or what the person looked like or how the person's voice sounded.
The more the others remember, the more noticeable it becomes that there are strange gaps in their memories of these past lives.
Most from both groups can remember Coach during the first year. With the rest of the teachers it is much more difficult for them to remember if they were taught by them at that time, because they usually don't associate too strong memories with them. That's why no one notices that Teach is not the same teacher who used to teach them history.
However, at some point the color squad starts to wonder why they can't remember someone like Teach, who stands out from the mass of (faceless) teachers because of his endearing manner.
So what is the relationship between Oz and the individual members of the Color Squad?
Let's start with Vicky.;)
Of course, at the beginning he is mainly her teacher, which creates a certain distance. But it helps that Oz is quite engaged and, at least on the outside, clearly more self-confident and less shy in this role. Vicky is one of the students who has pretty quickly taken him up on his offer to come to him at any time with questions - even gladly during recess. Oz is always happy when Vicky asks him various questions or for tips on books that focus on certain historical topics in order to improve her presentation.
At some point, they happened to talk about novels in general and began to exchange opinions about their favorite works. Oz had already loved to talk to Vicky about novels in the past, especially those they had both read.
From that point on, Vicky would occasionally come up to him during break time if they happened to run into each other and would tell him excitedly about how she liked his last book recommendation and how far he had progressed in the book she recommended.
Next, we would have Brian.
Oz immediately scored points with his first lesson with Brian when he announced that he wouldn't hold it against anyone to take a nap in his class. All the better that Oz sticks to his words. Occasionally, however, Oz has woken Brian up. But only when he noticed that his sleepy friend had overheard the bell ringing for the end of class.
In case that Brian encounters Teach in the hallway while he carries around some bulky classroom materials, Brian will help him carry the stuff from point A to point B. Oz is extremely grateful for the kind help.
On a short walk, during break time outside on the grounds, he once found Brian reading a comic book by himself and approached him about it. In the process, they got to talking about their genre preferences in comics. Oz still remembers well how it was Brian who first explained to him what a comic book was and awakened in him his love for the medium in the first place. Similar to Vicky, Brian and Oz talk about the comics they read now and then. Oz just has to be careful from time to time not to say anything about comics that were released a few years later than the current time.
And since all good things come in threes, here comes Amira.
With Amira it is more complicated. In the past, the self-confident djinn was quick to take on the role of big sister to him, but this time she shows less interest in getting to know him. After all, he is just one of the teachers. And admittedly, she even finds it rather suspicious that his character traits make him stand out among the other teachers. She finds him just too nice - and not in a crazy way, as it is the case with Coach, for example, who "for the good of his students" throws crocodiles and other dangers at them - and therefore thinks it is just a facade. As a result, she becomes suspicious when she notices that Teach is often talking to her two friends. That's why she is usually neutral or sometimes even dismissive towards him.
The first real conversation between them took place when Amira collapsed at the party tree. Oz, who has made it a habit to stroll around the school grounds in the evening, checking the parties to see if there are any students who need help because they overdid it a little, is alerted to the unconscious Amira by someone in the upper grades. Of course, he doesn't hesitate and brings her to the unoccupied infirmary, where he takes care of her.
Probably it went off something like this:
A pained groan escaped her lips as she felt the dull pounding in her skull. Oh crap. Her head was throbbing and she felt exhausted. Still she couldn't manage to open her eyes. And she didn't want to. What had happened anyway? The party. She had been at the party at the old tree and... and... she had a total blackout! She must have overdone it. She would have preferred to keep her eyes closed longer and crawl even deeper under her covers. How had she gotten into her room in the first place? She frowned. Besides... there was this strange feeling of being watched. Maybe by Vicky? Or Brian? Maybe her friends had dragged her back.
However, when she finally convinced herself to open her eyes, she was surprised to find that she wasn't back at the shared apartment at all. Instead, she found herself in a strange room with dim lighting. The frame of the bed was made of metal and everything seemed a bit clinical. There was a faint smell of sanitizer in the air, but not as penetrating as in a hospital. Confused, she pushed the covers aside and a lukewarm hot water bottle fell next to her on the mattress while she sat up to get a better look.
Her eyes paused on a familiar figure. However, it was not the cheerful frankenstein monster or the stoic looking zombie as she had hoped. The figure was considerably taller and dressed in a tattered cloak, as it often was. Pitch black skin, white eyes that almost glowed a little in the dim light. Teach. "Ah. You're awake." For a brief moment, Teach's telepathic voice drove away the pounding in her head. Unfortunately, it didn't last. "How did I... ?", Amira somehow managed to bring out as she was still trying to grasp how to judge the situation she was in. "I carried you here," Teach explained in his usual friendly-sounding way, throwing a small smile at her. The little black things he had once introduced to them as phobias stared at her curiously. Creepy. "I hope you don't hold it against me too much that I didn't ask your permission before. But... you were unconscious. That's why I assumed it would be better to take you to the infirmary so you could rest here until you felt better." Oh. So that's where she was. Now that he mentioned it, she also noticed the cabinets that contained bandages and medications and were standing against the wall further to her left.
Okay. If all of this was true, then she was still on the school grounds. She hadn't been kidnapped by some crazy person. Probably... She wasn't quite sure yet, considering that she was currently here all alone with Teach, without anyone else knowing about it. Cause honestly? She didn't really trust him. Since the first day of class, he just seemed... way too nice for her liking. To her, the always and constantly friendly smile seemed put on. Like a facade behind which he hid something from everyone. Usually, the more the person tried to convince everyone of the opposite, the more sinister their secrets were. Either way, she found him suspicious.
"Coffee or tea?" Teach, who until just now had been standing by a small table with an electric kettle, held two steaming cups in his hands. Apparently he had just finished making both.
There! That's exactly what she meant! Suspiciously, Amira sat up a little straighter and narrowed her eyes skeptically. The hot water bottle came back to her mind, and her eyes wandered to it again briefly before turning back to her teacher. "O-oh. That was me. I... had heard once that fire elemental monsters prefer heat sources when they're not feeling well." Surprised, Amira noted that his voice sounded apologetic, for trying to help her? Maybe she should have stood up and told him she was going home to get away from the whole situation. Maybe she should have refused his earlier offer. But damn she still felt a little dizzy. And heavens! She could really use a cup of coffee to feel better. Amira decided to put her concerns aside at least for a moment. If worst came to worst, she could always figure something out. Besides... if Teach hadn't done anything weird so far, maybe it would stay that way.
"... It's okay." she mumbled therefore, before continuing with a sigh "Coffee sounds good." Teach who had actually seemed a bit insecure until just now, which she found interesting, found his smile back, even if it didn't seem quite as exuberant as before. "Here you go, then." Carefully, he stepped up to her bedside and handed her a floral patterned red cup that gave off the lovely scent of coffee. Without hesitating any longer, Amira took a hearty sip. Hah, that felt good. Teach, meanwhile, had sat down on a chair that stood at a little distance from her bed. With both of his hands he held a yellow, white striped cup and turned it slightly back and forth between his fingers.
It still felt somewhat strange to be alone in a room with Teach. Especially since neither of them said anything. "Do you do this kind of thing often?", maybe she would become wiser about him when she found out more about her teacher. Teach, who had just taken a sip from his own cup - at least that's what Amira assumed, it was hard to tell if someone without a mouth was really drinking - lowered the cup again and looked at her questioningly. It looked like he didn't understand what she was trying to say. "I mean taking care of students who aren't doing well and bringing them here." Now he appeared to understand. Teach took a hand from his cup and let it wander to the back of his neck. It seemed a bit like he was embarrassed. Oddly enough, the gesture felt familiar, even if she couldn't have said why. "Sometimes. If I notice." "That's pretty strange," at least she thought it was strange. Most teachers wouldn't even bother with something like that during class time, let alone on their free time. "You think so?" "Don't you?" she just didn't understand him. Why would anyone willingly do something like that? "Honestly, do you really care?" she decided to just ask what was on her mind. That way she could observe Teach's reaction to such a direct question. "Of course it worries me when one of my students isn't feeling well." The answer had come faster than she had expected. And without the slightest hesitation. Teach looked at her in genuine surprise. Almost as if he could hardly believe she was asking him such a question. Strangely, Teach's reaction struck her as sincere. Had... she perhaps misjudged him the whole time? She could have sworn that such good monsters as her friends could hardly exist twice.
So... was Teach just a little too good-natured and weird in that regard after all? "I know I'm probably meddling... too much, but still... " Huh? What was coming next? "Amira? May I give you some advice?" Questioningly, the djinn raised one of her dark eyebrows. Was Teach going to give her a lecture now? Or was this some older-person-sharing-their-life-wisdom-with-younger-person thing? "Do I have much of a choice?" she asked pondering, which made her teacher smirk.
"Not really," he confessed. His voice sounded amused, almost a bit cheeky. Amira liked that. It made him sound more like a real person than normally. "But it's up to you what you make of it, of course," Teach added more kindly.
"All right. Out with it." There was no harm in listening to it, after all. Teach looked as if he was pleased with her answer. "To tell you the truth, those words aren't directly mine. But a good friend... she once said to me... It's good to have fun and test your limits. But better than that is to have fun and know when you've reached your limits and should take a step back. So that a nice experience doesn't turn into one that you regret later on." Teach spoke the words calmly as usual, but still it seemed to Amira that he was somewhere else with his mind right now. Maybe he was thinking about that moment in his past when that friend he was talking about had said those words to him? "You know, I also want you to fully enjoy this time. I want you to collect memories you'll be happy to think back on one day without regretting anything." Now he looked directly at her again.
Amira felt a sensation that she couldn't put her finger on. It was strange. It seemed to her that she had heard this advice before, without being able to remember when or where exactly. She gave up thinking about it as her headache begged for her attention again. When she thought about her current situation, the advice didn't seem so stupid to her.
"Sounds like your friend has a good idea of what she's talking about," she replied half-jokingly, allowing a small smile to creep onto her face before taking another sip of hot coffee. A soft laugh echoed in her head as soon as she had uttered the words. Only... somehow it sounded a little sad. There was something sentimental in Teach's eyes as he looked over at the window. Maybe a little pain, too? She didn't know him well enough to pinpoint it. And it was even more difficult since he usually looked so cheerful.
"Mmm. She taught me alot about how the world works... " Amira felt it would be better not to probe further as to where this person was now. She had a vague suspicion that the person Teach was talking about might not be part of his life anymore. In whatever way.
The patter of feet sounded from the hallway outside. The door was rushed open and both Amira and Teach turned their heads to the monster that had just burst into their conversation. Vicky stood there quite out of breath. "Amira! I was so worried!" she hurriedly came running into the room, past Teach and over to her at the bedside, where she immediately fell around her neck. After some delay, Brian came shuffling into the room. Even though he kept a more leisurely pace, Amira could tell by the subtle way his mouth twisted that he, too, was worried about her. However, seeing her safe and sound now seemed to help him relax. While Vicky was still half strangling her with her affection and her arms, which were strong for such a little girl, Brian approached Teach's side and handed him a note he was holding. "Thanks for letting us know Teach." Their teacher took it and shook his head just slightly. "Don't. I was sure you would want to know."
Huh, Teach had brought them both here? But when? How? At last Vicky loosened her grip a bit and threw Brian and her teacher a beaming smile before looking to Amira again.
"One of Teach's little friends found us and gave us a note saying we could find you here!", Vicky excitedly explained to her. "I didn't even know they could detach from his body!" she looked over at Teach almost excitedly. He just smiled. "It is possible. But I rarely resort to that option," carefully Teach raised himself up from his seat now. "Stay until you are better," this time he directed his words back to Amira. "I think you are in good hands now. So I will take my leave. Take good care of yourselves on your way home," he gave them all a friendly smile and was already about to go. "Teach!", Amira heard herself call out before as he reached the door frame. He looked back over his shoulder at her. Curious. Huff... okay. "Thanks for today." A smile flitted across his eyes. "Anytime." Amira had the feeling that this time he had aimed his words only at her. He waved at them again, and in the next moment he disappeared silently out of their sight.
After that day, Amira felt like she could trust Teach and was more open towards him. From this point on it also happens more often that his three friends visit Oz together to just chat with him or to ask him a question or two.
Here some general facts about the color squad and how they stand to Oz after this event:
Sometimes a strange sense of familiarity or nostalgia comes over his old friends/acquaintances when they talk or hang out with him
The color squad often involves him → once they wanted to convince him to go out into the city more to meet others or date someone until they find out he can't leave the school grounds
They thought it was just a joke at first until they try to take him out beyond the grounds and he shows them that it's not possible for him to leave the grounds beyond a certain distance
Oz is constantly torn in his feelings → on the one hand he is infinitely grateful that his friends are alive again and talk to him, but at the same time he still feels alone and rootless because they can't remember him and there seems to be a distance between them due to the teacher and student relationship even if it becomes better over time
On the one hand he still hopes that someday someone will say his name, but Oz also knows how unlikely this is and is afraid that the others will leave him behind again after their graduation without ever realizing what kind of connection they once had with each other if he does nothing about it
When the color squad invites Teach to lunch at their table and they are together as a group of four, it feels familiar and right to all of them as if an empty space has been filled → More and more often, they forget the fact that Teach is older than they are
Oz would love to have a field trip with his class from time to time, but unfortunately this is not possible because he can't leave the grounds → instead, he hosts an astronomy lesson on the sports field one evening (where participation is voluntary)
The color squad thinks about how to realize Teach's wish and come up with the idea of holding a field trip via video call or a similar method so that Oz can instruct and teach them from school while they are on the field trip → as expected, the field trip gets pretty chaotic, but it's still an experience they can look back on with a laugh in the end
Haha, that was a whole lot this time! Honestly, I wasn't quite sure how I pictured Amira and Teach's relationship before, but as I thought about it more, one or two things came to my mind. And then when I tried to describe it, it struck me that it wasn't so easy to explain via a simple description. So I did it in the form of a little story. I hope this doesn't bother anyone too much?;)
