I love misremembering song lyrics.

Here's a fun misremembering of this scene, or maybe a dream, that kid me had...

WARNING: DEATH DEATH MURDER CHRIS MCLEAN IS DEAD?!

Ok so, here's the misremembering! (Not gonna call it a mandela effect cuz it wouldn't even make sense within the context of the scene.)

The way I remember the scene is this.

I remember originally, the scene involved Chris and Chef arguing. Likely over Chefs pay, as him complaining about how much he made was a recurring thing at this point in the series. I remember, atop the cliff, Chef and Chris were having this argument. Chef got so mad at Chris (who wasn't fazed by the argument at all,) and likely was talking about not paying him at all, that Chef grabbed chris, lifted him into the air Darth vader and Palpatine style, and THREW Chris off the cliff.

Not in an attempt to kill him, it was like, a 2nd degree murder type thing, and he was like "oh what have i done!"

Then when he looked down, Chris revealed his death was faked and Chef was just 'acting' (Chef didn't realize it was part of the bit,) and Chef laughs nervously while peering off the cliff, before walking away awkwardly after thinking he'd just actually killed Chris.

When I was a kid, I didn't fully understand how Chris' death was faked, and so it made it easier to dream up something like this I guess. Just an interesting thing though.

Animorphs really has a way to turn every scifi trope on its head. "Why do alien invasions always start in America?" Actually the body snatchers first landed in a Middle Eastern farming community where they kidnapped the first guy they saw, read his mind, and concluded that, since he was terrified of the US soldiers who had brutally destroyed everything he knew and loved, the US would be the ideal place to center their invasion. This is revealed in the spin-off "Visser" which is an excellent stand-alone book that can be read without any prior knowledge of Animorphs. So about this film...

Everyone has been talking about Goncharov, the one film directed by Scorsese, and II have to say,

I really remember this shit differently than yall.

Some stuff lines up, like the characters Andrey and Katya. But events don't really seem to make sense with what everyone else is describing. Everyone says the film was released in 1973, but I distinctly remember watching it as a child. So that would have been at the EARLIEST 1999. It could be that my family had it as a physical release somewhere, but my mother wasn't born until the 1980s, so it would've had to be in my grandparent's collections, and neither side of the family has a copy (though they distinctly remember the movie)

And the story doesn't seem to line up either, like yall talk about Goncharov and Katya like they're married (and in some cases say they are), but I remember Andrey and Katya being married (or at least divorced) prior to the movie. My memory recalls Katya and Goncharov being lovers, but nothing more. It added to the sexual tension between Andrey and Katya because they still had a hint of love for each other in between the action. Also, more jealousy between Andrey and Goncharov, as Gonny boy was living the kind of life Andrey wanted, with the woman he once loved.

Am I just being fucking crazy, remembering a different movie? For all I know I could be thinking of another Scorsese film or a similar movie in the genre. Yall help me out here.

I will never get over the fact that Jude and Cardan just kissed in bed after their wedding vows. Because that's?? The sweetest thing ever?? Like Jude was stuck in the Undersea for a while and Cardan got poisoned and almost died as well so they were both tired and probably wanted to be vulnerable with eachother after their vows of "partnership" (ahemMarriageahem).

Just imagining them all tangled up and in eachother's arms... Exchanging soft kissies under the covers after Cardan made flowers bloom in their room... Them probably caressing eachother and holding eachother as they kiss, their eyes closed but then they sleepily open them from time to time to look at eachother under the moonlight. I abduzjejzjsjzj

at this point its my headcanon that camilla was having a whole vigilante justice arc while on new rho and nona just didnt know about it. like she definitely killed that neighbor that was abusing his wife and i do not think she stopped there. <3

i remember seeing this one long post awhile ago of someone getting really pissed about people having lighthearted headcanons and writing silly fanfiction about disco elysium and saying stuff like "these people are not friends. this is not a happy fun story. this is a real story and you are trivializing it by writing 'goofy workplace antics' about corrupt cops" and if all you got out of that game was that cops equal bad and nothing else? nothing else about hope for humanity? or the joy of living in a bright and vibrant world and experiencing everything that life has to offer? the beautiful complexity of the lives of strangers? requesting a song for your partner on the radio? failing miserably and yet still moving on? risking everything for another chance even if you thought you had no more chances left? how the right 'ending' always comes from giving back to your community? un jour je serai le retour pres de toi? I love you cuno?

anyway what was i saying im not trying to take a big stance here but for real oh my god can you play touys or something. if all you have to say about the people in revachol is that their life sucks and they are going to live nothing but a miserably, dreary existence because thats how "real life goes" then i hope your own life gets better
