She was fine. It kind of went against my idea of what the orphanage was like for them, but I guess it's canon-compliant in a book that largely wasn't.

yes its been five years but i am not over emma hallucinating that she severed all parabatai bonds while coming back from thule, just to turn and see jem bleeding as he asks "emma, emma how could you?" i mean WHAT a perfect scene to show how powerful the parabatai bond is. throughout tda the bond becomes an antagonist as julian and emma struggle against it, and its hard to remember that its actually a beautiful way to connect two souls. one of my favorite parts of the shadowhunters books is how cassie shows how powerful and overwhelming platonic love can be, and will and jem are the embodiment of that. the bond isnt just a symbol of their love but the physical manifestation of its endurance, and thats why the seelie queens proposal to break all bonds is so tragic. to take away that kind of connection is sacrilege, even at the cost of romantic love. one is not greater than the other, and thats one of the subtle but beautifully written themes threading through tda.

thought about it some more and if nobody else will hype up the Luke & Jocelyn story i will. especially if the "in the past" is referring to the circle era like. I'm always excited for circle content they never fail to make me insane

Valentine from their perspective, the two people who loved him the most, while they're in the thick of it is going to be crazy. his wife and his parabatai. also I'm fairly certain there's a quote where Jocelyn says if she knew that Luke loved her back then she wouldve made a difference choice like this story is going to be great i can feel it. just the fact CC is going out of her way to include it over something more popular means that it's something she really wants to share & that makes me really excited. I hope it rewires my brain <3

rant about kit being hated by julian

maybe this is just me but i am personally getting frustrated with the idea that julian hates kit or just has a problem with him… like julian is protective okay? he’s not an asshole. and he knows kit has his reasons and emma still likes kit and i see so much portrayal of julian just being angry or disliking him. that goes for dru too. when cassie wrote about dru being okay with kit leaving, i don’t think that at all meant that dru was happy with it or mad at kit. she was disappointed in him but she’s learned from her family and NONE of them are the type to hate someone for a decision they thought was right… getting so tired of this trope i’m sorry

I have a sneaking suspicion that after a while Miss Clare unfortunately had to ban birthday parties at the orphanage, and Eugene’s little stunt here was the reason why. He meant well but in his constant excitement for who the lucky boy was he would spoil all the presents.

I don't think so. Eugene disliked who Eugene was so much that he pretended he was never him for a good chunk of his life. And Lance is pretty go with the flow, in that regard. By the time he and Eugene went separate ways, the orphanage and Miss Claire were distant memories.

y’all just imagine how much better it would have been if most of the series was from Alastair’s pov and we could have had thomastairs love story from the very beginning and see it fleshed out. imagine the pov of Alastair about his no good deadbeat daddy. just imagine y’all how much better it could have been.
