There is some podcast conspiracy this week to release as many episodes as possible. Camlann with regular episode and a special, Victoriocity with first two episodes of s3, Hello From The Hallowoods with first episode of s4, The Amelia Project x Midnight Burger crossover, The Magnus Protocol, Mission Rejected, Inexplicables, Welcome To Night Vale, Travelling Light…
I am not complaining but I am drowning in episodes

If the unlikely group of unprepared weirdos thrust into the center of a horrific, existentially Earth-shattering crisis doesn’t end up as a loving found family, I don’t even wanna hear about it ✋🙄

Audiodrama Sunday 3/31/24
Writing this at 11pm, don't tell me I'm procrastinating. On Wednesday I briefly thought it was Sunday and got halfway thru writing this post before realizing, not sure how that happened.
Well anyways @camlannpod this week was incredible, my favorite episode of the show yet. I think that one of the reasons that I liked this episode more than the others is that I am familiar with the source material, as opposed to Arthuriana which I am definitely not. It was such a cool modern take on an ancient character, the sound design was incredible, and it also raised more questions about the worldbuilding.
Also episode 2 of @worldgonewrongpod! Really liked this episode. Maybe its just because I've been obsessed with time loops recently, but this episode interested me more than werewolves did. Can't wait to see what the teaser for the third episode was about.
Two new True Tales of the Illuminati minisodes. I love the humor of this show, glad to see that the next season got funded.
@midstpodcast holy shit what an episode. I don't want to put spoilers here, but wow they really did just totally reshape our understanding of the story in 1 conversation.
I started s2 of @kingmakerpod! I really like how this season has a little bit more of a focus on geopolitics and various political figures, it's super interesting to me. Also the Flat Stanley fleshcrafter who helped with the jailbreak was horrifying. He can fold other people???
Part 2 of Mission Rejected's s5 pilot episode came out this week. I think that was one of my favorite episode of the show, it did so much for Skip and McGrath's characters and their relationship. I already made a much longer post raving about it, so I won't say any more.
The next season of @midnightburgr starts in 2 weeks, so I decided to relisten to some of it. I decided to listen to the 4 episodes in the last season after "Pockets", because I already relistened to that one shortly after it came out . The Pyrophyte is such an insane episode, in so many ways. Cannot wait for the next season.

why is it so hard to find good spy genre media that doesn’t have all the big problems in the spy genre (misogyny, racism etc)
like all I can think of is the podcast Mission Rejected and the I Expect You to Die games

I think if Skip Granger of Mission Rejected and Hampton Fawx of Fawx and Stallion were in the same room, world peace would happen or the world would explode. There is no in between.

Now that I’ve had some time to sleep on the new Mission Rejected episode, (spoilers if you haven’t listened yet!) I love how during that conversation at the end McGrath was the only one who stuck around to listen to Skip. And it was only once it was just the two of them that he really let his guard down and showed how tired he was. Their friendship is actually so important to me they’re platonic soulmates and I love them

My personal theory on the season 4 finale
This focuses primarily on Skip's outburst monologue, with the idea that skip was talking in code the whole time, with only McGrath seemingly catching on.
The way skip begins the conversation feels very similar to the conversation he had with McGrath and Athena that was done in code, both having variations of Skip talking about 'really listening', with him having a large amount of emphasis in the scene.
During the ran Skip says 'Do I even know semaphore McGrath?' I think this is his way of trying to 100% confirm the code or continue the code on because semaphore is a method of silent communication with flags, and I honestly believe that Skip would know semaphore
In the scene, they were all being listened in on by Terry Millionaire, and everyone knew that, if Skip did have something he needed to communicate to the team, he would need to do it covertly, through some sort of code.
Given that Skip resigns at the end of the monologue, McGrath seems incredible calm about it, especially considering her reaction to Skip attempting to leave the EMF on the American Spydol mission. I don't think she'd do that if she didn't know what was going on. Plus, despite his resignation and things he said during his outburst, she still said 'I'll see you around', meaning she doesn't think this is the end for them, and doesn't even sound remotely concerned
Finally, despite the things Skip says mirroring his feeling from throughout this season, and I can imagine that he is absolutely hurt by everything that happened with Gloria and the promotion, I don't think Skip would be so aggressive just because she kept it a secret. Yes it would hurt him, but going to the extent of not calling them friends, only coworkers, after all the time together, it just didn't feel right. At this point he still admitted that he thought he could help Athena become good despite already knowing about the lies from everyone at that point. He may not be completely ok with what's happening, but Skip understands how compromised they are, and realises the only way to deal with this is from the inside.
I don't know though haha, this is just a theory, and may just be me trying to hang on to the dynamics and relationships skip has created, but I feel the theory has some backing to it.

I’m so not normal about the new Mission Rejected episode. They’ve been setting this up for the entire last season. Skip and his friendship with McGrath are everything to me. Only Mission Rejected could turn the guy whose job is coming up with code phrases for spies to use into a badass hero while maintaining his personality throughout. He’s the best spy in the world, and he loves filing systems and doesn’t like violence. And McGrath is the perfect foil to his character. The chaotic good to his lawful good. They understand each other so well, and their relationship is completely platonic and not romantic. McGrath coming out to Skip as gay for a supervillain by talking about cake was later a crucial plot point. I wonder if the writers knew the gold they had struck when they first wrote these two characters. The show has changed so much since the start of the first season, and we’re finally back to the status quo. Except Chet Philips is the secretary of defense, Athena O’Brien is running a megacorp, and somehow, The Admiral returned. Can’t wait for the rest of this season!
