Anyway I’m bored and Carmen Sandiego renaissance is on the brain. What are these characters like when they aren’t focused on the main plot?? Non VILE/ACME/Caper related dialogue seems so few and far between.. I wish we got to see their lives outside work. So I made some headcanons abt it

CARMEN

Player was her first exposure to the outside world so she probably holds a lot of his nerdy interests close to her heart. She’s not the best at video games but plays them regardless. She especially enjoys sci-fi horror movies from the 80s that go big on practical effects

Finding random trivia about different countries is genuinely one of her favourite hobbies. The little info segments she does are not part of the edutainment show. She is genuinely just like that. This woman is a trove of fun facts please let her unleash them upon you

In the same vein she LOVES quizzes. After missions she will drag Team Red to any bar doing a trivia night in her vicinity and will wipe the floor with everyone there. Fear her

Enjoys people watching. It’s why she’s so good at charming strangers despite her socially stunted upbringing. She’ll sit alone in a busy train station for hours and watch everyone pass her by

PLAYER

Look. We know this kid is a nerd. It’s canon. But which niche of nerdiness does he fall into exactly?

Despite being an avid gamer he isn’t very competitive about it. He prefers single player rpgs, especially ones with active modding scenes. He doesn’t even know what vanilla Skyrim looks like he probably wasn’t even born yet when it released

Shadowsan is the only one who doesn’t care for it but he keeps rolling nat 20’s on the dumbest shit and derailing the campaign and he finds everyone’s reactions too entertaining to stop. They have a rivalry only a DM and a stupidly lucky rogue could have

ZACK

We already know he’s kind of a meathead that enjoys sports and cars and cheesy action movies but I also think he has a lot of softer hobbies that he keeps to himself bc he knows they won’t take him seriously

He’s a secret crocheter. He’ll mend the team’s clothes when they rip but that’s the extent of their knowledge. He’ll sit for hours by himself and knit while listening to music. Sometimes Shadowsan will find a new pair of socks in his bag. When Carmen got sick once she woke up with a handmade blanket draped over her. Ivy has her suspicions but doesn’t wanna intrude

He loves animals. He never really brings it up because no one ever asks. He always checks out local zoos and aquariums if he has the chance. Grew up watching Steve Irwin-esque nature shows and still does to this day

His love of eating is less out of greed and more his own form of cultural appreciation. Idk what happened to his and Ivy’s parents but for reasons he can’t explain their cooking is one of the few things he hasn’t forgotten, so he has a lot of sentimental food-based memories. And experiencing other countries cuisine connects him with that

IVY

PERIOD DRAMAS. They don’t have to be good they just have to be steamy. She enjoys the hot women in pretty dresses. She and Carmen watch Bridgerton together and laugh about how historically inaccurate it is

She LOVES renfaires and similar high fantasy roleplaying communities. Someone please buy this woman a suit of armour

As an engineering prodigy AND fantasy buff she has a massive interest in Blacksmithing and Swords. That’s her designated lesbian hobby. She’s been trying to politely worm her way into a conversation with Shadowsan about the blade he returned to his brother for months now but isn’t sure if it’s too personal of a topic for him so she’s nervous

Her sweet tooth encompasses more than just chocolate. She’s secretly grateful to Zack since he takes most of the flack for being a glutton. She makes note of any bakeries they pass by on capers so she can come back later in secret and go ham on the pastries

SHADOWSAN

I think his interest in Samurai history starts and ends with his love for Hideo. He’ll happily discuss it and he’s studied it passionately, but out of a sense of respect and duty to do right by the brother he betrayed

He will NEVER, EVER admit it to anyone but he genuinely misses the adrenaline rush from committing petty crimes. He was a criminal for over 20 years. Lifestyles are hard to shake and change isn’t linear. He’d never succumb to impulse but he’s just kinda bored

He microdoses on the urge by pranking people. Everyone always blames Zack so he never gets caught. He also enjoys sneaking up on people and making them jump. He’ll always insist it’s unintentional. It isn’t

He’ll read and meditate and train to keep himself centred but he’s still a rowdy young punk at heart. Team Red is the first taste of freedom he’s had after a lifetime of VILE faculty monitoring him. The first thing he bought for himself after settling in at the San Diego HQ was a motorbike. The second was a new tattoo. The third was a potentially lethal amount of whiskey that he drank in one sitting

JULIA

We know she has a passion for history outside her work in Law Enforcement so she definitely goes to all kinds of museums in her free time. She’s the kind of person who enjoys learning just for the sake of learning (she and Carmen have that in common)

Outside of that she’s surprisingly good at karaoke? She gets stage fright but really likes singing and will go all out if you hype her up. Her taste in music is the exact opposite of her appearance and personality. Lots and lots of death metal

An aficionado for different types of tea. She keeps like 10 flavours in her house at all times. She especially likes floral ones that taste light and sweet. She hates iced tea with a passion though

Goes to botanical gardens whenever the weather is warm and the season is right. She likes the history of the old manor houses but she also loves admiring the landscaping and the blooming flowers. She could sit on a bench surrounded by local flora and fauna for hours

DEVINEAUX

Chase is an entirely different person when he’s off the clock. The unhinged high-energy maniac who froths at the mouth about La Femme Rouge goes dormant once he gets home. Especially after he got stranded on VILE island. That really gave him some introspection about work/life balance

The biggest, softest, sappiest hopeless romantic you will ever meet in your life. Passion is just part of his nature and he gets his heart broken A LOT. It’s why he throws himself into his work

He’s a really good chef. Like REALLY good. Before he was a cop he did a few summers as a line cook in his teen years and he retained most of the knowledge. His pantry is STACKED and he tries out recipes he picked up from his ACME travels in his free time. He’s a tad snobby about it because he’s French but you will not complain about the stuff he feeds you

Old movie enjoyer. His favourites are film noirs, cheesy romances, creepy eastern european animation and german expressionism. He has a fervent hatred of Marvel

⟡ Let me introduce you to my OCs from Baldur's Gate 3, who I love with all my heart and plan to show a lot of content (old and new) with them! I also apologize for any troubles in the text, English is not my native language.

⟡ My “Latander-kissed” boy named Lann, a fighter, believes in Latander, loves good food (sweet melissa tea and hot bread? He's in!). An incorrigible optimist, solves all problems for you by scattering enemies in different directions with a two-handed sword. Sometimes finds problems on his ass, but solves them exclusively by himself, with humor and memes. Infinitely kind, loves animals. All Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength will be drunk by him. His hand was here on the card.

⟡ Ray. Artificer, thanks to this mod. A punctual alchemist who tries to make time to live his life productively. Elven longevity isn't enough for him, huh. Loves discipline, cleanliness, and he is a bit selfish, but that doesn't stop Ray from being a caring nerd to his party. Watches his appearance more than anyone else, likes perfume with lavender and mint. Has an electric homunculus cat, which he has named simply Cat (Kot in russian). The Cat often gets in his way, wreaking havoc at the alchemist's home.

⟡ Nor. As it turns out, he was named after the dark elf deity from Spellforce, which I loved as a kid. Nor is a Dark Urge who has taken the path of good. An oathbreaker paladin who writes his own story, which though full of grief and horror, has a good ending. In my headcanon, Nor after the BG3 storyline, purchases a house on the outskirts of Baldur's Gate overlooking the city, where he cultivates flowers, including lilies, which remind him of his adoptive mother, who was a dwarven herbalist. As someone with borderline disorder, Nor for me has a special place in my heart as a beacon in the hardest times of my life - he reminds me that even from the darkest places of the mind, a way out can be found. I also have a tattoo dedicated to him: an image of two lilies and stars from the garb of a paladin of the Oath of Vengeance. Nor's hand was also featured on a card here.

⟡ Tjorsaudalur. The classic Dark Urge, a white dragonborn sorcerer who was my choice for an evil walkthrough, managed to refuse Baal's will at the end, but as the epilogue showed, it caused him terrible suffering and loss of his identity. I'll be honest, I was shocked by the epilogue. After it, Tjor's identity took on a special meaning for me. Now I can't perceive his image in any way other than as a big and traumatized fragile sorcerer. The trembling and uncertain voice that the character editor offers, as well as the character's introduction further cemented this association. I want to surround Tjor with care, make warm tea, and pay for a therapist. And plant some flowers to grow next to Nor to calm the mind. I drew Tjorsaudalur here, but that was before the epilogue.

Glossary

Warframe has a LOT going on so, hey, here's a big list of terms and what they mean - please don't use this as comprehensive guide. Gonna add to it as I go along.

There'll be some mild spoilers without Context

Currencies

Affinity - The fancy name for Experience Points.

Aya - Regal and Normal varieties, for trading for Prime stuff and Relics from Varzia in the Mars Relay, Maroo's Bazaar.

Credits - The Basic Currency for paying for pretty much everything.

Ducats - Currency mostly exclusively used for trading with Baro Ki'teer. Acquired by selling Prime parts at the kiosks in the Relays

Endo - Currency for ranking up Mods. Each rank up requires an escalating amount of Endo.

Focus - A secondary kind of Experience Points that is accessed after completing The Second Dream, allowing the player to gain a kind specialisation; the 'Roles' from FFXIV actually make a handy explanation.

Unairu - the 'tanky' specialisation

Vazarin - the 'healer' specialisation

Naramon - the 'melee' / 'stealth' specialisation

Madurai - the 'offensive' / 'ranged' specialisation

Zenurik - the 'Caster' specialisation.

Hollars - The Currency of Hollvania in 1999. They're actually just Credits again, but they switch automatically depending which 'era' you are in.

Kuva - Red goo that you use to Reroll Riven Mods as well build a few Warframes. Acquired from a variety of sources.

Platinum or "Plat" - Premium Currency acquired with real money, but can be traded between players, making it possible to collect without spending any money.

Standing - Currency for various Syndicates (Factions) that is used to rank up the Syndicate, and trade for various items and services.

Character Names

The Lotus - Space Mum, mission coordinator

Baro Ki'Teer - The Void Trader, pompous dude who somehow finds cool stuff in the Void and then sells it to us every other Friday

Teshin - Uncle Teshin, High Ranking Dax, trained the Tenno. Runs conclave

Varzia - Thirstiest Woman in all of Warframe, former Dax. Sells Prime Resurgence stuff for Aya.

Maroo - A thief who runs the Mars relay where players can trade, also melts Ayatan into Endo.

Ordis - The Best Boy, if you mute him, you are a weenie. Runs the Ship.

Cephalon Simaris - The biggest nerd in all of Warframe. Runs a syndicate where you scan and capture stuff.

Loadout Terms

Warframe - Your 'Class' / 'Character'

Weapons - Your Primary, Secondary, and Melee Weapons.

Primaries: Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Bows, and Spear Guns

Secondaries: Single Pistols, Dual Pistols, Throwables, and The Grimoire

Melees: (oh boy, deep breath) Single Swords, Dual Swords, Big Swords (plus Axes), Samurai Swords, Big Samurai Swords, Dual Samurai Swords, Swords with a Whip attached, Swords and Shields, Machetes, Hammers, Rapiers, Scythes, Big Scythes, Whips, Fans, Fists, Fists & Boots, Claws, Polearms, Staves, Daggers, Dual Daggers, 'Glaives' (The throwing death frisbee kind), a Giant Buzzsaw, Nunchaku, and Gunblades.

Focus - your chosen Focus School, which has various benefits and abilities.

Heavy Weapons - A large gun, often very powerful, with limited ammo that can be summoned once unlocked by progressing through the Fortuna syndicates and story.

Companions - Essentially pets and robots that can accompany the player, attacking automatically. Pets are larger and run around independently. Sentinels float bythe Player's head, and follow after them.

Parazon - Essentially a techno-hidden blade a la Assassin's Creed / Robo Cop which the player uses to hack computers, and also perform special 'Mercy Kills'. Can be modded to offer certain benefits upon a hack, or Mercy Kill.

Movement Terms

Bullet Jump - A large jump towards where you are aiming, by pressing Jump while Crouched. You can bullet jump of any surface, or off an enemy.

Slide - Sliding along with momentum, by pressing Crouch while moving.

Aim Glide - Slowing down your descent, allowing you to stay in the air for longer, by aiming while in the air.

Wall Latch - clinging to a wall, allowing you to stay 'up'. Hold aim while touching a wall.

Dodge - By tapping the Sprint or Dodge button while moving, you perform a move in that direction. A Dodge will reduce the damage you take during the animation, but can also dislodge anything that 'latches' to you. Often adds a burst of speed. Some Warframes have custom Dodge animations.

Sprint - Essentially just normal moving in Warframe, running speed.

Parkour Velocity - A stat that affects how far a Dodge or Bullet Jump will go.

Void Sling - Essentially an upgraded Bullet Jump, an almost instant teleport where you're aiming, that can bypass enemies but not walls. Unlocked after The War Within.

Enemy Terms

Kuva Liches - Bunch of guys and gals hopped up on Kuva. Based on the Nemesis system from Shadow Of Mordor. You fight them, they get stronger, but eventually you figure out how to kill them.

Sisters of Parvos - Like Kuva Liches, I call them Biches, all ladies, super capitalists.

Eidolons - Big fucking Sentients that roam around the Plains of Eidolon, gotta fight them to get Arcanes.

Orb Mothers - Big robot spiders, there's three of them but we can only fight two so far. Tied to the Fortuna story.

Nullifiers - The most hated enemy in all of Warframe, they're Corpus / Orokin enemies that project a field that cancels out Warframe abilities. Avoid them and kill them. Weak to rapid fire weapons.

Eximus - Glowy 'elite' enemies with special powers and Overguard. Pain in the arse to deal with, kill these ones quickly.

Weapon Terms

The Various Upgraded Versions - Various weapons in Warframe will eventually get a 're-release', usually with a direct increase in stats. The type of upgrade usually is dictated by which faction the weapon comes from stylistically. There are a numberPR called, just needed to confirm that Good In most cases, the re-released weapons can use augment mods, Riven mods, or other 'weapon specific' upgrades but will need new generic upgrades like Catalysts, Exilus, and Arcane Adaptors.

Prime - the most common, we get new Prime items about every 3 months (approximate) and they're almost always a 'Tenno' or 'Orokin' weapon with some exceptions like the Helios Prime sentinel (the original Helios being Corpus in Origin). Gets a shiny gold aesthetic.

Wraith - Usually Grineer weapons (with exceptions like the Latron Wraith), with a black and red colour scheme. These originally get released as Event Rewards, but overtime have been fed back into the game, usually as Invasion Rewards or Baro Ki'teer.

Vandal - Usually Corpus (Except the Braton Vandal and Lato Vandal) in Origin and given a cool metallic blue aesthetic, usually with a big Lotus symbol somewhere. Much like Wraith weapons, they were originally released during events, then have been trickling back into the game via Invasions or Baro Ki'teer

Syndicate Weapons - Rakta, Vaykor, Sancti, Secura, Synoid, and Telos weapons. These come from the six main syndicates (Red Veil, Steel Meridian, New Loka, Perrin Sequence, Cephalon Suda, and the Arbiters of Hexis) and are upgraded versions of existing weapons from pretty much any faction in the game. (Note, the Vaykor Hek is one of the only examples in the game of a re-released weapon not being able to use the Hek augment 'Scattering Justice')

Kuva - Weapons wielded by Kuva Liches, these not only have improved stats but usually have key distinct upgrades over the originals in how they function. They also have the quality where each Forma (up to 5) will add an extra two levels, allowing them to reach rank 40 instead of rank 30.

Tenet Weapons - Weapons wielded by Sisters of Parvos, basically just the Corpus equivalent, same deal where they can go up to rank 40 if you put in 5 Forma. Tenet Weapons often have an extra mechanic where many of them will reload their magazine while holstered, or the melee weapons will pause the combo timer. Notably, the melee weapons (and Speargun Primary) are acquired from Perrin Sequence instead of from Sisters of Parvos.

Coda Weapons - These are actually not in the game yet, but they've been announced. They'll be purchased from a very special lady in 1999, as a reward for dealing with the Technocyte Coda (Infested Liches)

Dex - A small number of weapons that have been 're-released' and given out for free to players to celebrate the anniversary of the game in March. They often have Lotus aesthetics with a blue/silver/purple aesthetic. Always Tenno weapons

Prisma - a variety of Tenno, Corpus, and Grineer weapons that have been exposed to the Void in some capacity, and are sold by Baro Ki'Teer.

Carmine, Ceti, and Mara - these aren't really true sets since there's only one of each category. But they are upgrades with new paint jobs. The Mara Detron is basically a Prisma Secondary, acquired the same way, has the same glowy effect just in orange not blue.

MK1 Weapons - a semi-retired set of weapons that are actually WEAKER than the true versions. They look the same, but have worse stats, intended for early game players but they've since just been phased out. Can still buy them though if you'd like, they're easy Mastery Fodder.

Alt Fire - Some weapons have a secondary effect, mine is bound to E but I think its clicking the mouse wheel, not sure about controller (sorry console players, I'll look it up later). Sometimes it fires the alternative effect first, sometimes it switches the weapon's mode. E.g. the Stalhta fires a big explosive round when you press the alt fire, the Ambassador switches its firing mode to "big explosive round" when you press alt fire, then you actually fire it with the normal trigger. All melee weapon "alt fires" fire the Heavy Attack, usually a big heavy swing, but some weapons are thrown (glaives) or shot (gunblades)

Incarnon - Added with the Zariman update, these started out as weapons that usually build up charge by landing headshots. Additionally you would complete challenges with the weapon, and unlock upgrades to the weapon's base stats. This was then expanded with the Incarnon Genesis System which were essentially 'add ons' to older weapons that you earned via Steel Path Duviri (The Circuit). They are very, very, very powerful and are currently the 'Hot Shit' Meta choices.

Knockback / Self Stagger - Explosive AoE weapons are a very popular choice in Warframe for dealing with large crowds of enemies, so to balance them they almost always inflict a self-stagger upon the player if you're in the blast radius. (It used to be self damage but people kept killing themselves). If you can make yourself Immune to Status effects with things like Unairu, Atlas's passive, or Knockdowns, through abilities or mods like Sure Footed, you can make yourself immune to this stagger however.

Vehicles

Arch-Wing - a kind of Jet Pack for specific outer space missions, certain nodes on Uranus, Open World Maps, and Railjack missions. Mods like a Warframe, on top of your Warframe. Has their own separate set of mods and weapons "Arch-Guns" and "Arch-Melees"

Necramechs - a large, bulky, Mech suit that can piloted instead of a Warframe in certain missions. They have their own mods, abilities, and stats. They can wield Arch Guns.

K-Drives - Hoverboards that can be deployed in Open World Enviroments like the Plains of Eidolon, or the Orb Vallis. Can perform Tricks.

Kaith - Essentially a weird Skeletal Horse, capable of flight, that can be used in Duviri missions, but later also summoned to Open World Areas.

Railjack - Essentially a pilotable space ship, operated with a small Crew of NPCs or players, for Spaceship Combat missions.

Atomicycles - A vehicle that can be summoned in 1999 missions, but due to a Bug that the Developers have allowed to remain, can also be deployed in almost all missions. Can't be modded, but does have its own abilities. Very fast.

Build Terms / Mechanic Terms

Health - HP, the Red one, nothing fancy here. In most cases, it doesn't naturally heal over time.

Armour - Stat that adds a percentage of damage reduction, to Health. E.g. having 300 Armour gives you 50% damage reduction, halving the amount of damage you take. Armour scales such that it has diminishing returns, as 600 armour only gives you 66.67% Damage Reduction.

Shields - the Blue One, regenerates if you don't take damage for a while.

Energy - the fuel for various Warframe abilities.

Sprint Speed - a Warframe's base movement speed, also affects their Parkour Speed.

Abilities & Ability Stats - the Unique Super Powers of each Warframe, that are governed by a series of Stats:

Strength - Usually governs the 'magnitude' - stuff like more damage, more armour, more stuff.

Range - Usually governs the 'reach' - a bigger Area of Affect, a longer reach.

Duration - How long an ability last, like Buffs, Debuffs, as well as how long some abilities spend 'spreading out', and the efficiency of some abilties

Efficiency - How much Energy abilities costs. Caps at 175%, which reduces the cost of an ability to 1/4.

Casting Speed - Not really a true Stat, but makes certain abilities have a faster cast animation.

Damage Mitigation - a somewhat nebulous function, essentially a form of percentile damage mitigation, separate from Armour. Often applies to Health AND Shields.

Invisibility - Some Warframes, Arcanes, abilities, and other means allow a player to turn Invisible, making it difficult for enemies to target you.

Finishers - Special Animation Melee attacks that deal bonus damage and ignore armour / shields. Comes in three kinds - Back, Front, and Ground (when the enemy is knocked down)

Mercy Kills - Certain enemies, when at a low enough health, can be finished off with an animation kill, sometimes skipping large parts of their health or activating certain effects.

Standard Items

Blueprints - A single use, or something reusable, set of Instuctions for the Foundry to construct something else, if you have the raw materials and credits.

Gear - Items which can be used in missions, like healing items, exta ammo, or even 'Summonings' like summoning Vehicles or NPC allies.

Materials - Raw materials found in missions for Crafting, or sometimes trading. Each Planet has its own set of Common and Rare Materials.

Mods - Essentially a Collectable Card Game, that upgrades pretty much everything in the game. Much of the game is spent adding to your 'Deck' as these are the main means of becoming more powerful, and making 'Builds'. Augment Mods - Specialty mods that fit into a Specific Warframe or Weapon, and change its Functionality. Aura Mods - Special Mods that apply a bonus to everyone in the squad, but also increase your Capacity rather than Decrease. Stance Mods - Similar to Aura Mods, but for Melee Weapons, changing the 'moves' a Weapon performs. Some Stance Mods have Moves that have special effects or bonuses.

Prime Parts - Components that can be used to craft Superior versions of 'Tenno' weapons, and Warframes.

Relics - Essentially a 'loot box' you can earn as a reward from various missions and other sources in the game. Once you have it, you can enter 'Void Fissure Missions' to open them, usually containing Prime Parts.

Special Items

Archon Shards - Items unlocked after completing The New War quest, that will allow you alter Warframes with a Variety of small buffs.

Azure / "Blues" - Base Stats

Amber / "Yellows" - Utilities

Crimson / "Reds" - Weapons & Ability Stats

Emerald / "Greens" - Combined from Yellows and Blues, offers specialised abilities focused on Toxin and Corrosive elements.

Topaz / "Oranges" - Combined from Yellows and Reds, a series of specialised effects focused around Radiation, Blast, and Heat.

Violet / "Purples" - Combined from Reds and Blues, focused on Electricity and Energy

Arcanes - Special 'add on' units that add unique effects to Warframes and Weapons. The colour of the Arcane indicates its Rarity, the colour of the Symbol indicates the type of item it can be added to, and the dots indicate the Rank.

Ayatans - Rare-ish loot, that can be melted into Endo, or Traded. There are Ayatan Sculptures, which can be rarely found around a mission's map, and Ayatan Stars, which drop from Lockers and Containers around a map when they are opened. Ayatan Stars can be inserted into Sculptures, at the Mod Station to make the items worth more Endo.

Exilus, or Exilus Adaptors - Items which open up a 'utility' slot in Warframes and Weapons. Some mods are marked with the Exilus Symbol, and can be placed into these slots. Usually these mods don't affect 'damage' (with some exceptions) but are nice to have.

Forma - Item you spend to reset a Warframe, Weapon, Companion, or Vehicle to rank 0, but in exchange you get an extra polarity so you can fit more mods in, creating the "Build" Aura Forma - Variation of a Forma that can only be added to a Warframe, changing the Polarity of their Aura Slot to 'universal' Stance Forma - Variation of a Forma, like the above Aura Forma but for the Stance slot on Melee weapons Umbra Forma - Very rare Variation of a Forma that applies an Umbral Polarity to Warframes or Melee weapons. Unlocked upon completing The Sacrifice.

Gravimag - Item you add to Archgun weapons, to then use them outside of Archwing as Heavy Weapons. Requires you first install an Orokin Catalyst.

Medallions - Tokens which can be found scattered in various missions attached to a specific Syndicate. These can then be traded for Standing.

Potato / Orokin Catalyst or Orokin Reactor - A pair of items colloquially referred to as Potatoes. Orokin Catalysts have a blue colour to them, they are added Weapons. Orokin Reactors have a yellow colour to them, they're added to Warframes, Companions, and Vehicles. You can only add one to each item.

My Terms, and Other General Community Terms

Essentially common phrases I might use to describe common elements in my builds

Energy Solution - A means for a loadout to gain all the Energy they need for casting their abilities.

Armour Solution - A means for a Loadout to deal with Enemy armour.

Flyers - Any warframe that has the capacity to stay up in the air for an extended duration; Hildryn, Titania, Zephyr, and Jade.

"Procs" - General term for any kind of status effect. I think its short for something but I forget what, probably something boring.

Survival Strategy - Essentially how each Warframeplans to stay alive.

CC / Crowd Control - A means of making large groups of enemies easier to manage. A variety of flavours:

Gather / Clump - a means to gather a bunch of enemies into one spot so they can be hit easier with an AoE

Slow - Not stopping enemies entirely, but slowing them down to make them easier to hit.

Confusion - Making Enemies target each other or something other than you the player.

Blinded - Making enemies unable to see, similar to Invisibility on the Player's side, often opening them up to Finishers.

Silenced - Unique to Banshee's Silence ability, prevents Eximus and other units from using Abilities, but also Deafens them, making Stealth much easier.

Knockdown - Enemies knocked down, opening them up Ground Finishers.

Lifted - Enemies lifted up into the air, floating.

"Animation" - enemies trapped in an animation, such as panicking, thrashing, or their weapons jammed, caused by various status effects or abilities.

maybe an unpopular opinion but like. lae'zel's allowed to be tiny and a fighter she's not necessarily Badly Designed just cos she's tiny. githyanki are All little and wiry she doesn't have to be a break from that. do you know how many tiny fighters i know. do you know how often they kick my ass. and a long weapon is the perfect way to compensate for this especially if she's got strength beyond what her physical appearance would lead you to believe (which she does, she's the other party member who starts with it at 17), and she starts with a longsword so, she's doing that, it gives her more reach, don't githyanki sorta use longswords as their predominant Thing? yeah.

karlach's ONE kind of strong. it's perfectly ok for lae'zel to be an OTHER kind of strong. personally I usually run her with a polearm for flavour because polearms are GREAT for small fighters - I have a friend at practice who uses a glaive for this reason and again, ALWAYS kicks my ass - i'm bigger both in height and weight and glaive is actually relatively weak against sword and board but she's more experienced and using a weapon that amplifies her strengths.

anyway. i don't, think it's necessarily playing into stereotypes about women to let her be small. she's really not particularly conventionally How Women Do in any other way ( just look at the amount of nexus mods that 'fix' her appearance -_-) and if anything it's kinda like. women don't have to be of a match with men in height and weight to kick their asses. it's good when there are characters who ARE because those people ALSO EXIST but that's not the ONLY kind of woman who can hand a man his ass in a fight. let there be variance. this has been your late-o-clock meds-running-out ramble from your local queer nerd jock.

Been thinking about making a Doom mod that lets you play as a few of my favorite characters, and have some ideas for balancing. Doomguy: He's the Doom Marine. You know him. He's a good, well rounded character, got all the tools to beat Doom. Uses only ultimate doom weapons. (I may implement certain weapons doing more damage to certain enemies, like in the Doom bible, to play up this aspect). Samus Aran: Very powerful progression. Based mostly on Metroid and Metroid 2. Starts with only power beam, can collect Spazer, Wave, Plasma, Ice, Missiles, and Morph ball Bombs (all separate weapons). Max Health can be pushed very high with energy tanks, High jump boots and ball morph increase mobility. Quite squishy, has no intermediate armor, and the varia is rarer then the combat armor (though it is permanent). Healing less effective, and limited ammo pool (only uses cells and rockets). Master Chief: Very durable. Armor absorbs all damage, and heals itself up to 100% over time. High caliber guns chew through demons like candy, but their ammo is quite rare, and you can only carry two at a time. And he needs to reload, like a NERD! (probably not actually). Also has a very powerful melee. Uses the Halo 1 armory (pistol, assault rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun, missile launcher). Link: Very slow progression. Does high damage with magic sword and silver arrows. Heart containers raise max health. Starts with only 50% max health. Bombs can open up secrets.

i like playing lots of video games like skyrim and stuff. im also a witch who loves enchanting things. i was thinking of combining the two and making some enchantments heavily based off of magic items in video games. this sounded like something you mightve done before or enjoy the thought of, so, have you done something like this before? if so, whats been the coolest one you came up with? id love to hear about it, both because theyre topics i find interesting and because i might take some ideas for inspiration for my own projects 👀

Oh yeah, this is right up my alley. The name Scroll of Thought came from the fantasy rpg concept of a scroll of [insert spell]. Also I'm a witch, gamer, indie game dev, and huge nerd. I was also a youtuber for a few years and I've got like 100+ episodes of modded skyrim. The whole channel was largely fantasy based. So yeah, right up my alley.

That being said, my style of enchanting isn't really based on anything game related. I developed it through years of reading various witchcraft books and blogs, experimenting with my spellcraft, and figuring out what works for me. I have realized that some game developers over the ages have had similar ideas and coincidentally figured out some similar systems for their games, probably drawing from similar inspiration as I did for my actual practice.

Basically that's a long winded way of saying "oh yeah, this is totally a thing you can do. I've done a handful of things that should be video game enchantments/spells in the past"

My style of enchantment is heavily symbolism based. A good example of that, I used to do a lot of sword fighting as a teenager. I broke A LOT of wooden swords, and every time I did I'd realize there was something specific I focused on while using that waster or boken or whatever it was. Like, I learned a lot of parrying and defensive stances with one of my early wooden swords, so when it inevitably shattered I took a piece of the wood and carved it into a charm with protection in mind. I did that for most of my swords, internalizing what I learned with them or what they seemed to excel at into a physical object. Just having that charm, I feel like the the memory of that sword is working it's way back into my 36 year old muscles.

Another fun project I'm currently working on is rings based on the souls games. I have the exact ring that the Silvercat Ring in dark souls 2 was based on. It's actually only a slightly rare antique ring. Unfortunately it got lost in a move, but it's around here somewhere.

I have not tried to enchant it for reduced fall damage, but I mean, can't hurt, right? If I find it, I'm going to design a spell to do that.

The big ones I'm working on is the Serpent Rings from the souls games. I am so disappointed, I found an exact Covetous Silver Serpent Ring (because the design is also based on a real antique ring) but I couldn't afford it at the time and the jeweler retired around the start of covid.

So I've taken it upon myself to make other serpent rings in the spirit of those rings. If you haven't played the souls games, the silver serpent ring gives you 10% more souls (exp/currency) when equipped, and the gold serpent ring gives x2 to rare drops chances.

Taking these as templates I've made two new ones, based on the rings I've found and how I found them.

On the left is my newly made Steel Serpent ring. I found it while traveling and finding a neat new place to explore. It increases the chances of discovering new adventures, even in places you've been before.

On the right is the Brass Serpent ring. It was given to me by a friend, the milliner who made my favorite hat. So it's purpose is to increase the chance of friendly encounters and making new friends.

The process of enchanting these was pretty simple. Cleansed them of any residual energy they encountered before I found them, while clearly keeping the thought of what they represented in my mind. Made a sigil that described and represented that thought and the new job the ring had. burned the sigil and mixed the ash with water and then transferred the sigil to the ring by rubbing the paste into the ring with my fingers, polishing it. The important concept in this form of enchanting via sigil, is that the sigil is never destroyed, it only changes shape from a thought, to a symbol on paper, to a polishing paste, to a ring. The sigil is the ring, just n a different form than how it started, in my mind.

I'm trying to think of any other video game-like enchantments I've done, or that you could do. Oh, an obvious one is something to fight and threaten spirits. I've got heaps of enchanted blades for dealing with malevolent spirits. All my enchantments for them are usually ritual based and incorporate traditionally apotropaic materials, like herbs and stuff, but you could totally silver a blade by rubbing it with old coins or sterling silver jewelry.

The nice part of enchanting is that you can put pretty much any spell into a physical object, so the limits become your imagination and a little bit the reality that enchantments in games are always going to be cooler than the spells we can actually do irl.

This may be one of the meanest things I say all year but I hope the FNF, VRChat and Roblox communities of child-creators with way too much time & fan-knowledge, and not enough skill or care for quality & originality all migrate to Beat Saber mapping/modding

You know what I love? Searching for fan-mods of my favorite songs from games & anime (nerd shit) in one of the greatest rhythm games of all time (also nerd shit), only to find not that, at best maybe a handful of tracks, all exclusively locked at the inhumanly-tryhard Expert Plus difficulty which I am physically unable to keep up with, therefore not fun.

Oh but you can bet your sweet ass you can find random individual pop songs from 10 years ago, obscure Vocaloid tracks, and more Remixes in place of original tracks than you can shake two swords at. All wrapped up in one of the least user-friendly search engines one could imagine in 2024.

Sorry, we don't have even one of each godly vocal track from that new Sonic game, but here's a 600th Camellia remix you've never heard of.
