This beauty was celebrating a milestone birthday, 30, with an outdoor portrait series for herself. We styled, scouted, and shot this on a Sunday afternoon; perfect way to spend a Sunday, if you ask me. Together, we came up with a series of looks and this was one of the favourites. Overall, it just felt like a day of bonding with friends, as we went on a mini-adventure outside of Vancouver for this one. The HMUA came along, doing touch-ups throughout the session. One of the last nice, hot weekends in August. And doesn't she look freakin' gorgeous? She IS gorgeous, not just on the outside but on the inside as well - through and through beautiful. #291 #366photochallenge A selection from today. . This weekend has been mostly about helping to get this collection of miniature locomotives tested, photographed and up for sale. Well with very little profesh photography kit on hand and speed being of the essence, with so much to list, I settled for this photo as the lead photo each listing. I’ve learned a lot about 00 gauge this weekend - not sure how useful this info will be going forward!! 🤷🏽‍♀️ . And then a selection for our walk earlier today with Floss along the path by the canal. . Our path led us through a sea of tall brown thistles wavering gently in the slight breeze. . My neighbour went out for the first time on their new narrow boat today. We saw them off and watched them go through their first lock. How did you know how to do the locks? I asked. I didn’t. Said my friend. I’m learning now! . . And off they chugged toward the next lock. . . I’d love to have a boat but not having enough time / opportunity / budget to buy one yet plus nit know how to go through the locks have been a bit of a stumbling block for me. This is from my wedding photography account @josephinegphoto but I love the image so much I couldn’t resist reposting it here too. . And why do I love this image so? Well I guess it’s because this is another example of what really makes my heart sing and why I love photography so much. And what is that exactly? Well, I guess you could describe it as being; when I notice, what can be the most fleeting of moments that are gone in a nanosecond yet, if noticed and captured well, can speak volumes, now and across the years, and even across generations. Those fleeting moments shared between human beings. The connection of emotions for just maybe a split second - a fleeting moment where there is real energy and emotion shared between people. This can be perhaps on a wedding day, beautiful authentic emotion shared between a wedding couple like in this photo here. Or perhaps it's just a look out of a window or really lovely natural peel of laughter when you feel relaxed and comfortable in the studio and I'm capturing portraits for you. Day 65/366 Whenever I can, I try to go and visit my 100 year old mother-in-law at the weekend. Today I was able to pop in at lunchtime. The original version of this photograph was on her windowsill. And this is my digital iPhone photo of the original printed photograph. The youngest child, front left, with the short brown hair is my (now 100 year old) mother-in-law when she was aged around 6 or 7 yrs old. She was the youngest of 7 children. All shown here with her parents. I love the formality of the original photograph and at first I was a little disappointed that there is a reflection of me making my photo now showing in my photo of the original photograph. But after looking a little more closely I realise that, I really like that I have become part of the original photo and I especially like that you can see a reflection of my hands in it. The hands, to me, now look as though I am nurturing the children in the original photograph in my own hands, especially Rebecca, my mother-in-law. For me this symbolises that I cherish the friendship I have with the remarkable 100 year old lady. And the original photograph once again, demonstrates that photographs so often become more precious as time passes.. . And this is another reason why I love photographing families and weddings.
