Okey so my personal headcanon: this but with Red and Ramona.
Red didnt have a very good mother which is why she's trying to be better mom for her daughters and to be there for them.
The cycle of generational trauma pased from mother to daughter ends with her. Shes determend with it.
And i hate don't like when she's pictured in fics as distant from Ramona or favors Cerise. No. She loves them both equally.
Ramona is her firstborn and Cerise is her baby. No matter how old they are they will always be her little girls.

🟄 AMARA CHARYS • human • noble • wizard
She had been performing a role all her life. Daughter, orphan, heir, counselor, stoic matriarch. Endless hours spent studying ancient tomes sat on a windowsill, tedius meetings and excruciatingly long social gatherings prepared her for just about anything. Well, maybe not an illithid abduction. But how much harder could it be to navigate than an evening ball? Talk about a change of pace in your forties.

I'm really curious as to how Portia will react to the engagement, since unlike the book, Penelope was about to get a proposal from a real catch, Portia was already high on the power, money and opportunities it would bring her. Like yes, Colin is a Bridgerton, but he's also a third son, still a catch but to her eyes compared to Debling, I don't think she would be pleased. Not entirely at least. Plus, not only is she going to marry Debling's huge estate, her plan of having Pen to take care of her (cogh, lowkey slave, cough) is out the window as well.
However, this season Portia seems less harsh to Penelope, I definetly wouldnt say softer, but she seemed a bit closer. This might be due to them spending the off season alone since Phillipa and Prudence are married and away. There's a moment when she confronts her about what LW wrote about her and Colin, at the end of the scene when she sees Pen is actually hurt and she tries to awkwardly comfort her, and when her words don't work she almost reaches out to offer physical comfort but then turns around and leaves. And on ep 4 after Debling leaves, when Pen asks her "do I only matter to you if I have a lord's engagement ring on my finger?" it might be the first time one of her daughters stood up and told her how she makes her feel, because she was stunned into silence, while she does not follow after her but the realization is clear in her face.
So this makes me wonder if she'll take the news well, badly, or she will be visibly disappointed but offer not opposition.
Either way, I'm Colin will not let her continue to mistreat Pen any longer, whatever Portia has to say, I trust Colin will have an answer to it.

Shouto: my brother just read something I wrote and called me an emo.
Shouto: he’s now making fun of me for it
Shouto: he is correct, and all his points stand, but this was not necessary
