Antigone by Sophocles — her defiance, grief, and burning sense of justice hit me every single time.

I've read this play many times and it is still one of my favourites. The emotional intensity and moral dilemma never get old.

Antigone by Sophocles feels spiritually close to Shakespeare's Hamlet or even Macbeth—where personal duty collides with social expectation.

Unforgettable line :

“I was born to join in love, not hate—that is my nature.”

If you love powerful women, impossible choices, and a story that echoes through history—you should absolutely read this play. It's short, intense, and absolutely unforgettable.

My April wrap up📚 I read the books that I wanted to read this month and all three books were amazing👍🏾(I also listened to the secret lives of church ladies by Deesha Philyaw, on audiobook and that one was amazing as well). Now it’s on to my May TBR 🥰. I’m currently reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert and I’m listening to the Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare and I’m enjoying both books, so that’s a good sign right?!? 😁. I’m thinking about adding two more books to my May TBR but I literally have no idea of what I want to read 🥴. Oh well ,I’ll just let my mood decide😁. What are you reading for the month of May? "It's okay to not be okay and say that." QOTD: What are you doing for yourself today? AOTD: I will be zoned out in music because that is my happy place at the moment. Lately I pick up books and only read half. I try to read but nothing sinks in. The stress of my life just won't allow it right now. As women, especially WOC we are always under so much pressure to shrink our emotions, act and look a certain and be strong all the time. We are supposed to keep it all together. We are expected to be all things for everyone inspite of ourselves. To society we have no value outside of our proximity to someone else. This past week has been one of my roughest this year. I have an important medical test to take tomorrow which was scheduled as an emergency. Physically I feel the worst I've ever felt. Mentally my anxiety is trying to take residence where it doesn't belong. Spiritually, I'm a little bit broken. And I'm not okay. But this is perfectly normal. Don't force yourself to be all things for everyone. Don't pretend to have it all together. Take time to participate in the things that bring you joy. Don't smile if you don't want to. Take care of yourself first if that's what you need to do. Step up for yourself before you step in for someone else. I have a snow day today!! Yay! I also didn’t have school on Friday or yesterday. What is this thing called school? 😂 Anyway, what’s a genre you would like to read more off? I need to read more high fantasy! There are so many on my tbr that I’m exited for. I didn’t include ADSOM because I’m not sure if it’s considered more of an urban fantasy. The ones that I have read have either been a hard hit or a miss. These are a few that I own, but also want to read The Remnant Chronicles, Snow like Ashes, Furyborn ect. 📚 My Current Read!

I keep coming back to this story—and each time, it unsettles me in a whole new way. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is brief, brilliant, and eerily claustrophobic.

If you're drawn to the quiet madness of The Bell Jar or the gothic shadows of Jane Eyre, this one will absolutely grip you. It sneaks under your skin.

 Line that lingers:✨

I’ve read a lot of novellas, but The Metamorphosis hit different. This post is just my take on it—hope it resonates with you.

I've read Kafka before, but this one devours you slowly. A man wakes up one morning as an insect—and somehow, that’s not even the strangest part.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re changing into something unexplainable, or like the world doesn’t recognize you anymore—this book sinks deep. Right into your bones.

Haunting line ✨: “Was he an animal, that music could move him so?” Even as a bug, he feels everything. Maybe more than ever.
