Indarias random lil hcs:

Constantly chewed on EVERYTHING. Needed to chew on things or she’d get antsy and even start trying to gnaw on her fellow Yakshas. Bosacius once got bit so hard he couldn’t move one of his arms for a solid week

This was partially because her bite and jaw strength overall are ridiculously strong—she’d been known to crunch through bone and even Geovishap armor with a single bite

Prior to becoming one of the Yakshas, she admittedly hunted adepti, minor gods, and humans alike for sustenance. She was caught by Mountain Shaper in his amber while hunting him, but spared due to Moon Carver’s intervention. She fought alongside and under them for a brief time before joining the Yakshas

-She’s constantly hungry—she alone could eat a banquet’s worth of food and still find herself feeling hungry a mere hour after the fact. This continues on even in her present state. She is willing to eat anything and everything she can catch and then some, but, back then, usually stuck to whatever the others ate to be safe. She’s long since reverted to her old diet

It was due in part to her old ways that she fell first out of all the others to her karmic debt. Both habits prior to joining the yakshas and during her fights alongside them—she had a habit of devouring the remains of her enemies before doing away with what she could not with her flames, always saying it was her unique way of ‘purifying’ them when one of the other Yakshas questioned her. When really, she just needed to satiate her hunger

Used to very vulnerable to peer pressure prior to her fall, no matter how independent she boasted herself to be. Once the other Yakshas settled on smth, she would be sure to follow. It was actually due to Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper’s urging that she joined Morax’s cause in the first place

Then stayed because she’d been admittedly smitten by a certain Hydro Yaksha. Though she never made any conscious choice to bridge the gap beyond the relationship the yakshas had with one another, even with how close they were, prioritizing the mission and protecting them all over personal feelings

She had quite the temper and tendency to hold grudges over the smallest offenses, especially in her early days fighting alongside the Yakshas—only Bonanus was ever capable of talking her into at the very least apologizing, and then eventually start swaying Indarias into letting bygones by bygones at all the more they all got to know each other. Though in their later years, she would ease up on this fault of hers

While she still held her sane mind, Indarias learned to weaponize her karmic debt well, both in using the cursed energy to disorient enemies or to help herself get an extra—even if frenzied—boost in strength against an especially tough foe/task

Her fighting style heavily relied on her flames and teeth to deal damage, with twin swords being her secondary weapon

Her sense of smell is unparalleled amid the five Yakshas—she could identify any of the others by scent alone within moments of meeting them, and could follow traces of their respective scents for leagues. Specifically made sure to be able to, in fact, since Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver encouraged her to look after the others as she would them

Even having been consumed by her karmic debt, Indarias can still recognize the scents of her fellow Yakshas even to make her pause—she won’t readily remember THEM entirely, but the familiarity can stave off her urge to kill and devour in the moment

Is immune to fire—her skin is also impenetrable like armor, due to her kind’s nature

The clothes she wore were made from the fur of a qilin she slew in her years prior to the Yakshas and that of her own brethren—the interwoven fibers serve both to be soft and be just as impenetrable as her own skin was like armor, as an extra protection

She had offered to hunt and get her fellow Yakshas more of the same furs so they may all be able to enjoy the armor and comfort as she did…but she couldn’t comprehend Why they were horrified and vehemently rejected her offer until one had finally sat her down and Explained

Indarias had fallen in love with a human man at some point in her last few decades with the Yakshas. Even knowing they could never settle down and have a proper life together, as the Yaksha’s impossible fight would no doubt continue on past his lifespan, she agreed to let the man fight and travel alongside her so they could still be together, even against the warnings of the others

He would just as soon come to succumb to an early death from the miasma of her karmic debt however, much to her grief and rage

That had been her breaking point, where her hold on herself shattered and lead to Indarias succumbing to its influence herself in her anguish shortly after, even finding herself cursing Morax for having given her the mission before the madness took fully hold

She would become akin to a plague to every malevolent monster and fellow adeptus alike after that, fighting out her heartbreak and resentment alike before she'd vanish without a trace

For a time after her rampage and disappearance, she lay dormant until she was roused from slumber summoned by a desperate exorcist looking to bring back his wife

Oh, how his woes moved her. Oh what a pawn he would prove to be, in swaying him into offering her a meal of someone far stronger than himself

oh my god poor ganyu would be tearing her hair out. those kids are menaces (they get it from their dad) but also incredibly fast (they get that from their baba). it would likely consist of her running around after them, trying to keep them from causing too much trouble, until they eventually are tuckered out and she can peacefully put them to a nap

cloud retainer is probably ecstatic in her weird way (she has very intense maternal instincts in my mind) and insists on making odd and probably only slightly useful contraptions for them, while also insisting that she babysit them for a time (she makes that mistake only once)

mountain shaper is...indifferent. sure. he's "happy" for xiao. not happy about the nuisances now traipsing around Hulao, but he won't say anything against it (maybe passive aggressively)

moon carver likes to see them from time to time, but definitely does not want anything to do w babysitting them. no sir. he's not cut out for that. but he is actually very good with them and his voice often lulls the babies to sleep easily

The entire school was in shock when they finally got their very own hot goth girl.

But that was nothing compared to the shock of Eddie “The Freak” Munson nabbing said hot goth girl within a few days of her arrival to the school.

“How???” Garett hissed at Eddie not long after you became his girlfriend.

“When I figure that out, I’ll let you know!” Eddie hissed back.

Truth be told, Eddie didn’t actually have anything to do with it, but fuck if he was complaining.

Right out the gate on your first day, Eddie noticed you. He couldn’t help it, he had three classes with you.

You managed to catch his gaze with yours during all three classes to smile warmly at him. Eddie got fluttery feeling every time.

Then Eddie almost had a heart attack that same day at lunch when you came straight to his table and asked to sit with them.

So did all the rest of the guys at the Hellfire table.

Actually, so did several other tables that had been hoping for your presence, including the jock table. The cute and mysterious goth girl had captured everyone’s attention, including Jason Carver.

Which really irritated Eddie since Jason was with Chrissy. Jason never tried to disguise it when he flirted or checked out other girls. Eddie could tell that made her uncomfortable. While him and Chrissy had grown apart over the years, he knew she deserved better.

Two days later, you started asking Eddie for a ride home from school. He was all too happy to say yes, eager for the extra time with you. Eventually he started offering to pick you up on the way to school.

Your house was about ten miles out of the way, but Eddie didn’t care.

A week later, you gave Eddie a mixtape, saying it was some songs you loved. While he was in the process of making one for you, the fact you put the effort in for him blew him away.

He didn’t really understand…well, anything about the music at first but tried his damnedest since it meant a lot to you.

In hindsight, it probably wasn’t a good idea for you to lead with “Bella Lugosi’s Dead” as the very first song when trying to get a metalhead into goth music.

But by the time Eddie got to the rest of your selections, he really found himself appreciating this new style he’d never heard of. It seemed as varied as metal music, which he could appreciate, and some even toed the line into metal, which he definitely appreciated.

But it wasn’t until the last song on the tape, “Love in a Void” by Siouxie and The Banshee’s, that he started wondering in you were trying to tell him something.

Eddie asked you about it the next day on the drive to school.

Instead of answering, you asked him out.

Eddie nearly drove his van off the road in shock.

The two of you were inseparable after that, you being just as over the moon for him as he is you.

Six months in, at Eddie’s insistence, Corroded Coffin had learned to play a metal cover of your favorite song.

Normally, Eddie hated doing covers, but seeing the smile on your face as the opening chords started playing at The Hideout made it all worth it.

He also made an NPC for his D&D campaigns based on you. She is a very scary, but very helpful, witch. You helped him make her as creepy as possible.

Whenever you wear fishnets, don’t expect Eddie to stop touching you anytime soon. He just loves feeling the texture difference between the slightly rough fabric and the softness of your skin.

While it may not be sexual at first, there’s no way Eddie can stop himself from getting half hard as he runs his fingers over your fishnet clad arm when you’re sitting next to him at lunch.

But when you wear lace though? Forget about doing whatever it was you were planning on. Your only shot for plans to not inexplicably change at the last minute is if you don’t let Eddie see you until you’re already out in public.

And, even then, he’ll be on the lookout for some private nook or cranny to tug you over to for a moment alone.

important hc about my take on s.henhe under the cut.  archon quest spoilers ahead.  personals DNI.

shenhe isn’t human, not anymore.  she hasn’t been for years since she brushed her hair with that comb three times as a child & became cloud retainer’s apprentice.  while she’s not an adeptus, she’s something in between  (no longer mortal but adeptus-like, you could say)  because of her inhuman strength, strong chi, etc.  she’s reached a point where she’ll no longer age either due to her power.

shenhe actually had been born with a curse, with both solitary star & disastrous evil being revealed as her fate during moon carver’s reading for her.  the red ropes do help keep the worst of her homicidal nature at bay, but she still has urges & won’t hesitate to talk about violent acts she could commit.  does she do them?  no, because most humans tend to be frightened by her & her threats.  the curse, however, is a beast sealed inside her  (akin to the jinchuuriki in naruto having the tailed beasts).  though it took years, she was eventually able to learn how to channel the beast’s energy but as long as she doesn’t go without the red ropes for long periods of time, she’ll still be able to exercise enough self control so the beast doesn’t take over.

she fought that creature / monster her father had summoned for days, staying toe - to - toe with it though she did emerge victorious in the end with her vision appearing during the fight & tipping the scales in her favor.  for just a child fighting it off for so long on her own with no help, cloud retainer took her in, leading to shenhe becoming a disciple & the other adepti acknowledging her resolve.  while cloud retainer is her master, shenhe does think of her as a maternal figure in her life & still looks up to her to this day.

.headcanon 05:  memories long past & irminsul trees

Much of Retuo’s story and lore has to deal with memories. Though he isn’t the first to be directly connected with Ley Lines or Irminsul Trees (hello, Dains), the ability read the memories of stones/rocks is quite unique thus far in the story of Genshin’s world.

Retuo has a direct connection with the earth and the Ley Lines that run throughout Teyvat. That is confirmed through him being able to channel various elements contained in them and the fact that humans mining into the Lines directly damaged him and caused his Erosion to speed up. 

Also, before 1.5, if we spoke to Jiu under the tree in Nantianmen she mentions that the ‘creature’ dwelling beneath will awaken and regain control of the Ley Lines of the world.

Implying that his dominion over them goes further than just using it for energy or to sustain himself. 

His link to the Ley Lines is quite interesting as they play a large role in Teyvat’s lore. His tail that sticks out of the ground and continues to grow, fed on his blood, resembles the Petrified Trees (the irminsul trees) in the Domains we farm in game. 

Yes, the tree is much larger than the boss we see inside the seal, but remember that it is located within a Realm (mentioned here in my previous hc post) constructed by Mountain Shaper, Moon Carver and presumably Cloud Retainer. So like our Serenitea Pot, objects are placed within their own dimension. 

His talent material the Blood Jade Branch resembles the Ley Line branches dropped by the Abyss Mages.

What if Zhongli hadn’t meant literally carving memories into stone walls, but rather a stone dragon. An archival unit to keep the memories and history of all things in Liyue. Thinking back to his ability to read memories of ores and rocks and his control over the Ley Lines, it isn’t entirely far-fetched to believe that Retuo also had the abilities tapped into the their memories as well. If we take what Jiu!Azhdaha says here to be true, it is indeed very possible.

In A Record of All Things (Historia Antiqua Chapter, Act I) Zhongli says:

And Retuo as Kun Jun echoes this sentiment in No Mere Stone:

He had seen what happened to his companion and sought to preserve history in a new way: through the Traveler as its new vessel.

As to whether those rests are good? Well...they used to be. Now, it's just kind of a 'muscle memory' type of deal. Rylen has a lot of nightmares of how Carver, Bethany, and Leandra died, but he's gotten pretty good at hiding just how tired he actually is. Especially when he becomes Viscount. No weakness, right? *cries*

And at the Hanged Man, Rylen will just drunkenly scream the tavern shanties with Varric or Isabela because he's a disaster. XD Fenris just looks on with a thousand yard stare and internally reiterates, 'I love this man? I love this man. Fenehdis.'

HEADCANONS - M.ENOGIAS & MOUNTAIN SHAPER

okay i said it was coming, and here it is. get ready to dive into the chaos that is my meno brain- also, for reference, i have a deep hatred for the npc treatment both mountain shaper & moon carver received in game, so my visual for a humanoid mountain shaper is more along the lines of this artwork. (source - includes moon carver!)

i've already touched on this a little in this hc post, but i believe m.enogias & mountain shaper are connected, beyond that of allies and friends. we know from this year's lantern rite that he and moon carver knew m.enogias well, with hints that they were close as old friends, both of them reminiscing about his craftsmanship skills. (i also have some theories about the unknown third adeptus who helped to seal a.zhdaha alongside mountain shaper and moon carver, which i may touch on in another post one day-)

but then why specifically mountain shaper, lauri? well, as briefly touched upon in that other hc post, there are elements of mountain shaper that lean more towards an affinity with geo - his colour scheme is common amongst other geo characters (also pyro, i recognise, but let me cook), and his use of amber rock, which is considered a geo construct.

of course, my brain has taken these things and run with them - thus it is my opinion that m.enogias & mountain shaper had a closer bond through their affinity with geo. it's already a hc of mine that m.enogias felt drawn to z.hongli for the same reason (which is partly why he was the recipient of a lot of m.enogias' designs - the man has bias, what can i say?), so why not be drawn to other geo-aligned adepti, too?

MT. HULAO

m.enogias chose mountain shaper's domain to act as his "home" because of this close bond. he could often be found within the vicinity of the mountain when not with his yaksha siblings and his favoured spot for meditation was at the mountain's peak, above the entrance to mountain shaper's abode (he had a secondary meditation spot, too, overlooking the water outside the entrance - pictures of exact locations found at the end of this meta, under a cut bc Big).

due to their bond, mountain shaper even permitted m.enogias to live within his abode whenever he wished, and accommodated him well - there was even a chamber dedicated to his craft where m.enogias was free to work in his preferred solitude, as few were (and are) permitted within the adeptus' abode.

despite this internal space, m.enogias also had an outdoor workspace that he would use frequently - though he claimed it was entirely because of the natural light it offered, this was in fact only part of the reasoning for his use of an outdoor space: another was simply that he wished to allow mountain shaper his own privacy given that it is his home. it was out of respect for his fellow adeptus that he did not 'overstay his welcome' inside the abode.

this outdoor workspace was situated atop an elevated area at the peak of the mountain, overlooking qingyun peak and beyond (where the teleport waypoint is now located) - this was a favoured view of m.enogias'. he constructed a vast stone table upon which to work, carved with geometric shapes and lines, amongst which could be found symbols that represented his siblings, r.ex l.apis, g.uizhong, and the three adepti of the peaks: mountain shaper, moon carver, and cloud retainer. the table was a work of art in itself - and sadly is no longer there, as when m.enogias fell, the great table cracked into pieces.

it is rumoured amongst the adepti, however, that mountain shaper kept the pieces - they sit on display within the chamber he gave to m.enogias, surrounded by sketched designs and half-finished garments, it is said.

because this was m.enogias' favourite place in l.iyue, and because of mountain shaper's importance to him, m.orax buried the crystal heart left behind after his death deep beneath mt. hulao, to act as his final resting place (in his resurrected au verse, this is also where m.enogias reawakens).

A DEEP CONNECTION

listen... if you didn't expect this, you clearly don't know me well enough yet-

though it was never named or really addressed formally, there was a romantic element to the bond shared between m.enogias & mountain shaper - at least, from m.enogias' side. whether it was reciprocated or not i am deliberately leaving vague (on the rare chance a ms muse will pop up, please i am begging you-), likewise whether or not it was acted upon is... also vague.

i will say, however, that m.enogias' views on romance and relationships are... fairly open. he is content both with fleeting and committed bonds, and he is happy to be involved in poly relationships as well as monogamous ones. the connection he had with mountain shaper was enough for him, regardless of what form it took.

An Eclipsa a day keeps the doctors away

Late night doodles of Eclipsa!!! I can’t describe with words how much I adore her also there’s a glossaryck as filler, I hate that fucking smurf

I believe clothing is a very important factor on SVTFOE and Mewni. The royal family seems to have clothing inspired by the reinassance and rococo, while Eclipsa has her style modeled by the 1910s-1920s era, meaning she was ahead of her time.

In my AU, Eclipsa is the daughter of Solaria, the monster carver and lost her in one of her many, many battles. Dunno why, but people seem to always forget Eclipsa also lost her mother at a very young age.

Eclipsa was bethrothed to Shastacan ever since she was a little kid, even though neither of them showed any interest for one another.

Eclipsa and Globgore didn’t meet again after the blood moon ball, until she had to step into the war her mom was fighting on. Recognizing eachother, the peace treaty went on smoothly, and constantly went on “political” meetings and tried to close the monster-mewman gap.

Shastacan and her did not have any desire for eachother, even after married, so, both of them had affairs with others, Shastacan didn’t really bother with Eclipsa seeing another man, as it would most probably provide a heir without having to deal with that “dark, monster sympaticing witch”. What really caught him off guard was that the ‘man’ was a monster, instantly giving away that he, or a mewman for that matter, was not the father, and opted to get rid of her.

In the future, Eclipsa becomes part of the royal court and an advisor to Star. Star offered her the crown but she gladly declined, telling her she forfeited her right to the throne once she ran away with her monster love, instead, she offers aiding her in her training and helping her with her duties.

Eclipsa’s Mewberty was scary, not only because she is a Butterfly princess but because she is insanely powerful. Long story short, she got all the boys within a 1 km radius trapped on her webs, also her room had to be kind of rebuilt. whoops.

so, do you think its pretty likely that the following series will follow on from acowar then? I know a lot of people have theorised that it would follow the Miriam/Drakon story or even with entirely different characters in a completely different court, but tbh sjm seems way too invested in the acomaf characaters - especially nessian (she mentions them in like, every single interview she does) and from what ive gathered the ending is really ambiguous and prominent ships not yet established!

Yeah, I think it will follow where ACOWAR ended. They still have to contact the queens (Nesta wants to kill them), they need to work on a peace treaty, and stop any Fae that are hostile to humans from crossing into the human lands and enslaving or harming humans. 

Theories/What I think we will get a spinoff that will entail:

The Archeron sisters discovering why Vassa said Mr. Archeron was like a father to her (that was a BIG information drop!) 

Lucien helping Vassa break her curse. Koschei of course will be the dark lord they have to defeat the free Vassa/that will be a Swan Lake inspired plot line (that will feature Vassa as the Swan Queen/Odette, Koschei as Von Rothbart, Lucien as Prince Siegfried, Elain as Olide/Black Swan but not in an evil way probably in a curse breaking love proclamation kind of way.)

Elain’s journey from loving Graysen to figuring out what a mating bond means to her/what Azriel means to her/what being a seer means (all that)

If Elain is a shadowsinger or not, because yeah that was left open and unclear. 

Nesta and Cassian will 100% be a big part of the next few books. We got a lot about Cassian’s fears of what Nesta’s future could hold/what she might be

I think we’ll find out that it wasn’t an accident that Cassian was referred to as the Prince of Bastards, or a god of warriors. Same as it wasn’t an accident that Nesta was referred to as having the power of Death/a death god. I think we’ll find out that the Fae Warrior who would have been the Bone Carvers “salvation” is distantly related to the Archeron sisters, or maybe Vassa.

Lucien will have to decide if he values someones choice to love him over someones innate compulsion to want to be with him. (Mate bond with Elain v the love he had/still has for Jesminda)

Lucien is no DOUBT going to find out about his paternity, and that “Spell-Cleaver” ability will absolutely play into saving Vassa.

I think we’ll get Miryam and Drakon and this mysterious “artifact” that made Miryam immortal (and let’s say I think this will tie into Vassa’s storyline if she isn’t already somehow immortal)

I think the Archeron sisters might replace the now dead gods. Elain is a seer just like the Bone Carver, we saw her predict someones life and death just as he was able to do. 

It was pretty clear that Nesta is some kind of ancient death god/has those abilities. Although it wasn’t clear if that was because of the power she stole, or from how she was made different. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a stand in for the Weaver/the power the Weaver had. 

And Feyre at several points was either wearing or talking about the moon phases/she wore that crown with the moon phases and some people seemed to know who that crown belonged to, but it wasn’t clear. I think that will be a thing. That could be a Koschei thing, or a “first fae” or “mother” kind of thing (that idea was something @sparkleywonderful mentioned to me in our musings).

Nesta is def a witch tho…but what exactly that entails is not clear. I have a HC that Nesta needs her own bones for Scrying and that she maybe stole one from the king (an evil Fae/her first kill), maybe took one from her father’s ashes (a human who loved her), one from the Bone Carver if he left one in his cell (a death god of Life), and one from the Weaver (a death god of death)… I mean Amren said four bones and three stones.

hc. Moon Carvers Kindness

Moon Carver has been noted to be the ‘kindest’ of adpeti, which begs the question - why are they so cold to Ningguang and distrust the Qixing so much?

I believe that it has to do not with Ningguang herself, but the past members of the Qixing. Underhanded deals and deceit have always had a place in the business world, and it wouldn’t be too far fetched to think that some past members of the Qixing thought it best to try and get rid of the Adepti. Why exactly could be for many reasons; for wealth, as imagine how much even a piece of an adepti could fetch for? For power, getting an adepti on their side or proving that they could slay such a powerful creature would get others to fear them. The list goes on. Since Jueyun Karst is known to be the home of a number of adepti, Moon Carver is normally the first these greedy humans would meet.

At first they volunteered for such a position, knowing full well that this could come to pass. But they were convinced that they could speak with the mortals and persuade them to reconsider their actions. But even the kindest souls only have so much they can take before they reach a breaking point, and eventually they began to shun those of the Qixing especially. This is also why they don’t hesitate to have the traveler deal with the forces that chased after them, for those soldiers were servants to the Qixing and Moon Carver did not care what happened to them.

Their trust and kindest is hard earned now, but if you happened to get on the short list, you will quickly find out why Moon Carver has been called the kindest. They have a protective and caring personality, deep down. They truly wish to protect humans, as they are frail in body and mind. They would much rather put themselves sin harms way than let a mortal experience pain. But you can’t always get what you want, and you can’t always trust everyone, this is something that Moon Carver had to learn the hard way over the years.
