Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ooooh, I love OCs!! Especially those related to Kaldheim and Littjara! Excited to see what you make 👀
Unfortunately I can't give you too much in the way of canon information. This is her bio in the Legends of Kaldheim article:
Moritte is an enigma. A shapeshifter from Littjara, she was born a Gladewalker. While many grown-up shapeshifters leave Littjara to explore the realms, Moritte wanted more knowledge. To reach that end, she took the form of a young Covewalker. Living among the Covewalkers, Moritte absorbed all their knowledge and secrets before vanishing into the mists. She now wanders the realms, the most knowledgeable shapeshifter of all, seeking the solutions to new unanswered questions.
It's vague, I expect delibrately so, but that's a little frustrating when you want actual details. I wrote a more in-depth post about expanding Littjara and changeling lore a while back, which might help if you're looking for headcanon inspiration.
As to the "knowledge" Moritte seeks, I'm inclined to believe it is cosmological, since that's a major part of Kaldheim's functioning--the way realms are formed, what happens to them when they break off the tree (they become planes!), and how Cosmos monsters are born. As a creature especially attuned to aether and the Cosmos, Moritte learning more about Kaldheim cosmology would also mean deepening her knowledge about herself.
Perhaps her quest for all-encompassing knowledge leads her to a revelation about the Multiverse even before the Phyrexian invasion forces everyone to be very, very aware of it. It might even entangle her with forces far beyond her comprehension. Namely, the Eldrazi. After all, what are Eldrazi but much larger Cosmos monsters? Wouldn't she want to find out?
After March of the Machine, I am almost positive that Moritte has left Kaldheim, traveling to learn the lore of other planes. (I know it very likely does not work like this but it would also be funny if all changelings were now planeswalkers, because of how Kaldheim cosmology works.) Some fun places for her to be: Arcavios for its repository of knowledge in Strixhaven, Kamigawa for its overlap of mortal and spirit realms, Zendikar for its history of entanglement with the Eldrazi titans.
I have correctly predicted major canon at least twice with my Kaldheim posts and I'm still riding that power trip a little bit.

What Do I Need To Prepare For? | 12/9/2024
Original post for the spread.
There's nothing like the Christmas season to make you uneasy about things, especially when you have a family as volatile as mine.
The Thinker | The Explorer | The Balancer Tameshi, Reality Architect | Moritte of the Frost | Zimone, Quandrix Prodigy
(Once again, my Internet is actual ass, so no pictures of the cards for this post.)
Gods, I hate when I get told to think logically instead of emotionally. When you've got a family like mine, it's near impossible. But I'll do my best, Tameshi, even though it makes me wanna smack you.
At least Moritte is here to give advice, even if that advice is "get outside of your comfort zone". You know, the most generic advice there is. I suppose the best way to deal with family stress involves figuring out how to stand up for myself. Rehhh. I know it's right, I just don't have to like it to do it.
As for what else I should know, Zimone's coming through to remind me to balance shit in my life again. I'm something of a hermit, so this is just a good time of year to remind me that I can't waste away on the computer forever.
I mean. They're all correct, obviously. I just hate that it's gonna be a bitch of a situation to begin with, ya know?

D&D 5E | Feat: Boon of the Rime Wind
Last week, I wrote up a feat inspired by the Charm of the Storm from Dragon of Icespire Peak. In Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, a player could similarly receive a gift of Auril's power. While gaining a level in a potentially new class is a great way story-wise to show a story moment (I myself am in a campaign in which I picked up a level in Warlock for similar reasons), I wanted to design a feat that could get the same message across while leaning more into the frosty side of the Frostmaiden's powers.
Tumblr media
Art. Moritte of the Frost, by Eric Deschamps. Magic: the Gathering.
Boon of the Rime Wind
Prerequisite: None
Repeatable: None
You hold within yourself the cold might of ice: a gift of power from a frost giant, a god of winter, or maybe even a silver dragon. You gain the following benefits:
Increase your Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
As an action, you unleash out a burst of freezing wind. Each creature within 15 feet of you that isn’t behind a wall or barrier must make a Dexterity saving throw, with the save DC equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Constitution modifier. A creature takes 2d6 cold damage + Nd6 force damage (where N equals your Proficiency Bonus) on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If a creature fails by 10 or more, its speed is reduced to 0 feet until the start of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest.

with how much synergy I was able to get by combining a bunch of cards that work with +1/+1 counters, this almost felt less like a chaos draft and more like a masters draft. with one exception
Tumblr media
I was really hoping I'd get another sliver from the m14 pack I opened third or a changeling from the kaldheim pack to my right, but no luck with either. aside from the moritte I ended up getting on the second pass, but it did not seem worth trying to support double blue

Moritte da Geada/ Moritte of the Frost
Tumblr media

There's a frog-themed Midweek Magic this week where you make a historic brawl deck with any cards (even ones you don't own) and you get two emblems. One is a gimmicky sacrifice ability-manipulation thing, and the other is THIS FUCKER
Tumblr media
So obviously, everyone is stuffing their decks with frogs and changelings to take advantage of this absurd cost reduction effect. Except they're not. It seems like everyone except me is stupid and is playing a regular historic brawl deck that just happens to have a frog commander, and they're all getting stomped by my pile of frogs, lead by Grolnok to make sure I never run out of frogs to cast.
This is the first time I've ever done well in a constructed event
btw @thatonebjp you probably want to get in on this if you haven't already. If you'd like to jump right in, here's my decklist to copy for importing:
