Oto: In-Law is correct. One of them is already with Ui. The three first boys are training with Bamba and Asuna. Canalo: What about Koh? Me: I... I don't trust him teaching my kids swordsmanship. Canalo: Our 2 other daughters? Oto: They're with me, Melto and Mosarex. Canalo: Oh. What about our new year baby boy?! Me: Isn't he sleeping on your chest inside the carrier? Oto: *facepalm* Canalo: Oh... Sorry. I panicked a little. Yosh yosh... My baby boy. My adorable baby boy. First Son: Mommy is dumb. *giggles* Me: Don't say that... Mommy was just scared for a second. Now apologize. First son: Sorry mommy. Canalo: It's okay, baby. Mommy was just scared for a second, like father said.

MosaRex / Kishiryu Neptune / Gigant Kishiryu-Oh

Gotta love when they give us a new species of prehistoric animal (it’s not a dinosaur), especially one in a prominent Ranger roll. We got a plesiosaur last time we used the dinosaur theme, and of the announced Kishiryu this is the only new species we seem to be getting. (I count the Mirigaia as a stegosaur.)

The Good: I really enjoy this toy. It’s enormous for starters, being considerably longer than...most Zords period. I think the only ones I own that might match it are Build Ressha and the X Trains...which are both trains and are long by design. I love the head; it’s got joints in both halves of its jaw with very satisfying locking points to mess with. The teeth also interlock nicely. The arms joints are separate parts, so there’s now a detachable 8-point ratchet that you can use in any combination ideas you might have, adding a lot of new customization options.

Kishiryu Neptune is also a cool robot. The transformation is very simple, but that head makes it fun. It’s capable of holding a RyuSoul in its mouth while closed, and the neck rotation is smooth and feels great. It doesn’t have as many connection points as Kishiryu-Oh, but is capable of doing a few things it can’t, such as using the heads of smaller Kishiryu as fists.

Then there’s my favorite canon transformation of the show so far; SpinoThunder. I was not expecting to like SpinoThunder since it looked like a huge mishmash of colors in all the promotional shots, but in person everything lines up a bit better. It’s also enormous, maintaining MosaRex’s length, but with more bulk. From an engineering perspective, this is a really awesome idea. I can’t think of another year that took two of their Zords (that weren’t part of the original five) and combined them into something that wasn’t a giant robot.

The Bad: Gigant Kishiryu-Oh is not a good transformation. Aesthetically, the black plugs are distracting, and the giant dinosaur boxing gloves are ugly. Construction-wise, the mosasaur head is very heavy to the point that it causes Tyramigo’s transformation joint in its chest to buckle. It’s not well designed, that’s for certain. Luckily the individual toy is still strong and its other combination is as well.

Overall, I recommend this one. It’s big, pretty cheap, and fun. So far I’d recommend Tyramigo, DimeVolcano, and MosaRex as the three to-gets for this year. The other four are good if you want to utilize the build mechanics, but these three are solid on their own.

… Plot where the Kishiryu get turned into humans and the team needs to find a way to turn them back.

MosaRex is a grumpy, overprotective old man.

TigerLance likes to be tall and is easily distracted by string.

Triken is very anxious about everything.

Ankyroze will periodically pick her friends up and move them places if necessary, and sometimes just to get a rise out of Triken.

Tyramigo is so excited he keeps acting like Zuuban and following Kou around.

MirNeedle hangs out in the back and looks like he has the beginnings of a headache all the time, but always steps in to break things up if they get too out of control.

But they all act all parental over their Ryusoulgers in different ways, and the Land Kishiryu all treat each other like family.

I’m just gonna say it actually I don’t like the direction any of Ryusoulger’s mechs go in after the base forms. Solo Kishiryuoh, Kishiryuoh three knights, its auxiliary forms and Mosarex are the only ones I respect; the rest of them are just really bad and it is bizarre to me that in the line where they make it so everything is modular with lego bricks the final combination is all of three mechs and every ranger’s mech aside from red and gold gets left out of every single combination. I don’t know how you waste potential that much

It was 5 talking Kishiryu, but it IS weird that is only 5 of the 14-ish dino mecha that have that ability, especially Chibigaroo (DimeVolcano's an exception due to beign MosaRex's brother)

yeah it’s like. why do these few “side” powerup dinos get to talk when most of the main heroes partners don’t? it was such a weird selection.

mostly it just makes me sad bc i would’ve loved for like, banba to have the kind of relationship with his dino pal that yukito has with tricera, where this dinosaur loves him so much and he’s like “hmph.” but clearly loves them too.

in the end i guess this becomes difficult when you have a larger cast - there’s just not the screentime for it that there is in a 3-4 person sentai. but. cmon. kids will definitely want the toys more if the mech creatures have fun personalities that’s just logic!

The much-hyped RyuSoul Gold, commander of the aquatic KishiRyu MosaRex is actually a young man named Kanaro played by actor Hyodo Chikai.

Kanaro is described as the prince of a splinter RyuSoul Tribe that lives on the sea and detests fighting. The character will officially appear starting in the 14th episode of RyuSoulger- currently scheduled to air June 23 2019.

Taiga: When it comes

Ultra Galaxy Fight: Zero explains who he is to Grigio and promises she'll be alright. Taro explains to Rosso and Blu that they sent Zero to protect Grigio from Ultra Dark-Killer, but the pair are now trapped in the Ultra Dark Zone. The two rush off before Taro can say anymore. Orb is on O-50 when he is attacked by X Darkness and Geed Darkness, and tries to fight them off, first using Thunder Brewster and then Lightning Attacker.

Zero-One: Hoo boy. Where to even start. Whole I can understand Aruto's position of supporting the Humagear in the daughters image, especially with his own situation, I definitely believe the laws regarding use of a person's likeness are valid, there's a huge opportunity for abuse. It's in this case it results in tragedy. This brings me to the other tragedy of the episode, Jin. Jin's horror at what he's done when recognising what a proper family is with Seine, including his desperate attempt to remove the Zetsume Riser, proves he can learn. This is compounded by Horobi forcing the ForceRiser on him, forcibly connecting him to Metsubou-Jinrai.net, and making him transform. Horobi is now an abusive parent. I genuinely don't know where they'll go from here.

Ryusoulger: Canalo gives up a genuine chance at happiness for the sake of his duty as a Ryusoulger. It's important. Also important is Yui being played by Hikaru Yamamoto. MosaRex is able to detect Nada is an enemy. We see something more resembling an effort to undermine the team here, with him telling Canalo to quit being a Ryusoulger. And the reveal at the end that he is indeed Gaisoulg. I wonder how well he knew Bamba in the past.

Pii-tan / Pterardon / Yokuryu-Oh / King Rishiryu-Oh

And we’re down to the last Kishiryu. It’s been an interesting road. Most of these toys have been exceptional in terms of Super Sentai releases, but as this line was advertised as a build toy that aspect of it got weaker as time went on as well. Yokyryu-Oh sits in the middle of that. (I’m still sad we didn’t get a sauropod equivalent. First dinosaur theme to not have one.)

The Good: As its base body is very similar to Kishiryu-Oh, it doesn’t need to come apart in the same ways as the smaller Kishiryu do which excuses is from most of my problems with them, and has a few good blocks that can be utilized in interesting ways. The arm blocks give you access to another 8-point ratchet with more plugs than MosaRex, the shield provides nice aesthetic flare as well as giving you a more easy to display head upgrade than DimeVolcano’s, and the Pteranodon head is a nice touch.

Pit Mode is surprisingly fun, probably because it’s close to scale with the show. It’s just neat to have it sit around. Yokuryu-Oh is also a nice design. It’s very similar to Kishiryu-Oh in transformation and plug layout, but has its own aesthetic and silhouette. Pterardon is probably the weakest mode, having a ton of engineering to get it where it is, but not looking great. It’s probably the feet. The colors are great in all of them, though. None of the translucents are load-bearing, and the only plugs that can be are on the knees and shield. Any paint on those parts is either recessed or covered in another layer of plastic, and the Pteranodon head, which is the one part you’d worry about breakages on, is tough ruberized plastic to prevent that issue.

King Kishiryu Hyojin

The Bad: Like with MosaRex, Pterardon’s biggest issue is probably its combination. It is more solid than Gigant Kishiryu-Oh as Yokuryu-Oh’s waist is designed to not shift when attached to Kishiryu-Oh’s legs... But I literally have to pull both these toys in half and Frankenstein their parts together. I will say that having the two halves means you can put together another Megazord with the pieces, so it’s not Kyuutamajin Syndrome, but it’s obvious Tyramigo isn’t meant to do this. This was probably a rushed design decision to get a third Megazord out in Q3 that combined with the previous two.

Oh, and you can’t plug anything in Yoku’s shoulders because of the wings.

The End: And with that, we’re done. That’s every Kishiryu. It’s weird because I feel like there’s actually a pretty dynamic shift after you get out of Q1. With the first five releases (Tyramigo through MilNeedle) they were decent building blocks and had a good number of usable parts. Once we get into Q2 with DimeVolcano we start seeing the building block aspect take a back seat to canon combinations, and if I’m honest I really like a lot of them. SpinoThunder is great, CosmoRaptor is cool, the interplay between Pachygaroo and Chibigaroo is cute. If the entire line was just “not only can you combine it with the Megazord, but you can make other Dinosaurs by combing them with other Zords,” I would have been way more into this line (not that I’m not already). I hope they take some of the things from this line, like the combining Zords, and use those ideas again in new and exciting ways in the years to come. Y’know, so long as the ratings for this season were good enough to warrant them not winding the show down into cancellation over the next few years...

Overall, I like Yoku. I wish he combined differently, but he’s a solid standalone piece with some good combination parts.

If you plan on picking this line up after the show finishes, my recommendation for the minimum package is still Tyramigo/Dinomigo, MosaRex, and DimeVolcano, but if you like those three then I’d strongly recommend CosmoRaptor and Pachygaroo as well. They may not be good blocks, but they’re pretty awesome Super Sentai toys.

The third quarter toy catalogue for Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger is here. This summer, the sea god will dominate!! Riding the waves of summer, it’s going to be a lively Ryusoul festival!!

In July, Ryusoul Gold’s cold Kishiryu partner will arrive; Mosarex, the blue mosasaurus Kishiryu that swims throughout the open sea! Mosarex can combine with the ammonite Ammoknuckles to transform into its own robo mode: Kishiryu Neptune! By combining with Dimevolcano, Mosarex can also form Spinothunder. Finally, when Kishiryu Neptune, Kishiryu-Oh, and Dimevolcano combine together, they form Gigant Kishiryu-Oh.

Releasing in July is the movie-exclusive Kishiryujin, a redeco of Tyramigo, which will come with the howling ByūByū Kyō RyuSoul. RyuSoul Set 04, which includes the hearing KikeSoul, the reversing GyakuSoul, and the inflating PukupukuSoul, will also release in July.

In August, the Kishiryu of Light, ShineRaptor, and the Kishiryu of Darkness, ShadowRaptor, will come together to create the Kishiryu of the Cosmos, CosmoRaptor! CosmoRaptor can combine with Kishiryu-Oh. Using the Cosmo Kyō RyuSoul, Ryusoul Red receives a power-up that has the power of both light and darkness. ShineRaptor and ShadowRaptor’s Ryusouls, the shining Kagayaki Kyō RyuSoul and the dark Kurayami Kyō RyuSoul, will both be released as a set, which will allow the Ryusoulgers to utilize their powers individually.

In September, the powerful parent and child Kishiryu combo arrive, Pachygaroo and Chibigaroo. Together, they can combine with Kishiryu-Oh. Using the thudding Doshin Kyō RyuSoul, Ryusoul Red will gain a new power-up that has the power of the earth.

Kanaro has a skin condition. He has trouble bathing in normal water since his skin is accustomed to salt water. He usually uses bath salts to try and best remedy that. This is also why he may often wear his whole tribe outfit while in unsalted water. This doesn’t apply to diving however, as diving in large bodies of water act as portals to reach MosaRex quickly.

Oto has actually gone home. She hides among the public from time to time to check in on Kanaro every once and a while. But when monsters often show, she goes through specially made paths for herself to get to large water source so she can go back to MosaRex.

Since Tyramigo has learned to speak Japanese, he’s acted as a translator for the other Dinoknights and the team.

In terms of bond, Ankyrose and Asuna are second best to Tyramigo and Kou. Asuna often goes to vent to the Dinoknights when she’s extremely stressed, Ankyrose let’s Asuna punch her tail.

Melt likes stargazing! Triken will often help the blue ranger see from up high via their blade horn.

Towa has shrunk down Tigerlance into a mini-tyramigo size bot once or twice, to pet it’s head and scratch it’s ears.

Mirneedle is affectionate! They will headbutt Bamba gently, and often bugs the Black Knight until they are petted properly (not just a slight tap on the head with his palm). Most assume this annoys Bamba a lot, but in reality he actually likes it when Mirneedle is affectionate.

MosaRex acts sort of like a grandfather in terms of the zords, so being hugged by Oto (or even rarer, Kanaro) makes him stutter and blush profusely, which Oto teases them for.
