Instead of forcing women to go through extreme physical, psychological, hormonal, societal & economical changes against their will, start …
1.) holding men accountable for causing unwanted pregnancies.
2.) creating a better society which doesn’t systematically disadvantage and harm pregnant women & mothers.
3.) creating a society in which pregnant women‘s & mothers financial independence, careers and freedom aren’t limited.
4.) improving the medical system and the knowledge of women‘s anatomy & specific medical needs so every woman has access to the best treatment possible.
5.) eliminating medical abuse and medical neglect.
6.) funding EVERY treatment/support a pregnant woman and mother might need or want to feel as good & healthy as possible (recovery MUST be a priority).
7.) challenging societal expectations and judgement regarding pregnancy, mothers and motherhood.
8.) providing actually informative and female-centered sex ED.
9.) providing free & accessible birth control.
10.) and if you‘re really THAT ignorant and "pro-life", start making vasectomies mandatory.

These Single Women Say They Face a Workplace Penalty, Too
Tumblr media
Youn, S. (2022, April 21). These single women say they face a workplace penalty, too. The Washington Post. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2022/04/21/single-women-workplace-penalty
Soo Youn write: “While it’s well-documented that women with children face a ‘motherhood penalty’ in their careers, researchers are now beginning to study the obstacles facing another group: women who are single and don’t have children. … [S]ociologists recently found that even early in their careers, well-educated women without families are also disadvantaged because they are more often stereotyped as lacking leadership abilities. These women were often seen as too “masculine” for leadership when the same traits benefited single men. They also lacked the “communal, relational” leadership traits expected of women who were coupled and raising children. … Those types of stereotypes hurt career advancement, according to [Jennifer] Merluzzi and [Damon J.] Phillips’s research.”
“In the first of two studies, they created an experiment surveying hundreds of students at one university. The survey asked about two different candidates at an investment bank with the same resume. But one was named Anne and the other was named Tim. When the two candidates were single, the survey respondents considered Anne to be ‘too analytical, she didn’t have the skills to become a leader, it was going to block her ability to manage people,’ Merluzzi said. ‘But when the ideal candidate was single Tim, respondents were more likely to favor him for a significant promotion because he’s quantitative. With Tim, this is just the groundwork to be able to be a good leader.’ The second study examined the career progression of two different cohorts of MBA graduates from the same business program. Again, single women with noted analytical skills were the most penalized in terms of advancement into leadership positions.”
“These conclusions surprised Merluzzi, who noted that historically, single women have not been the subject of this kind of research. The awareness that women who are not mothers can also face setbacks because of gendered stereotypes is the first step toward remedying the problem, she said. Researchers have also noted that women can face compounded penalties career-wise — being discriminated against early in their careers, and then later, too, if they do become mothers.”

Conservatives want women to keep their pregnancies at the expense of their careers. But I’m sure it’s no coincidence that the man to make this statement has three kids and has probably benefits from the fatherhood bonus.
By Danielle Campoamor
On Thursday, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said he didn’t “know why you’d give” a pregnant woman an “important” job.
During an early morning episode of "Fox & Friends," host Brian Kilmeade discussed the newly created advisory board at the Department of Homeland Security, which will focus on "coordinating the department’s response to the potential impacts of disinformation threats," according to The New York Times.
In 2021, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said misinformation posed a "serious threat to public health."
Nina Jankowicz, author of “How to Be a Woman Online,” which details the vitriol and harassment she and many other women face on social media, was appointed to lead the advisory board. She is 8 months pregnant.
This seemed to confuse Kilmeade, who is a father of three.
"I'm not sure how you get a job and then you just — you can't do a job for three months," the FOX & Friends host asked, referring to an assumed three-month-long maternity leave Jankowicz would take after giving birth.
"I'm not faulting her, but I don't know why you would give someone a job that you think is so important," he added.
TODAY Parents reached out to FOX News for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.  see rest of article

Crocutamancer (Prestige Class)
Tumblr media
(art by ge-oh on deviantart)
(so i heard u leik yeens)
A terrifying hybrid of osteomancy and beast magic, crocutamancy is the art of hyena magic, channeling the beasts' bone crushing jaws and terrifying laugh. Despite its fearsome reputation, crocutamancy seeks to understand and reflect all aspects of its worshiped animal, and it also bears a strong sense of community and a respect for motherhood; societies structured around crocutamancy are invariably matriarchal, and midwifery is considered an essential part of crocutamancy training.
Role: Crocutamancers are melee warriors at heart, but often supplement martial might with divine magic of some variety.
Alignment: Any
Hit Dice: d10
Prerequisites
BAB: +4
Proficiencies: Proficient with a Greatclub
Skills: Knowledge (Nature) +5
Feats: Power Attack
Other: Hyena animal companion
Skills
Tumblr media
A Crocutamancer gains 4+ her intelligence modifier skill points per level
A Crocutamancer’s class skills are Climb (Str), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (Dungeoneering) (Int), Knowledge (Geography) (Int), Knowledge (Nature) (Int), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Stealth (Dex), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str)
Weapon and Armor Proficiencies
Crocutamancers gain no weapon or armor proficiencies.
Spells
Upon taking crocutamancer, a crocutamancer chooses one of the classes she has that grants divine spells. At the designated levels, she gains spells as though she had gained a level in that class. This only affects spells per day, spells known, and effective caster level. It does not affect other class abilities such as channel energy, domain abilities, or wild shape, although it does grant additional domain spell slots.
If a crocutamancer does not have a level in a class that grants divine spells, upon taking a level in a class that grants divine spells, she gains the benefit of this ability.
Crushing Blow (Ex)
When a crocutamancer makes a successful power attack with a bludgeoning weapon, she inflicts an additional crushing wound on the target that provides a penalty. These penalties do not stack with themselves or each other. She chooses one of the following;
A -2 penalty to saves
A -2 penalty to AC
A -2 penalty to CMD
Creatures that are immune to precision damage are immune to this effect. These penalties last for 1 minute or until the victim suffers another crushing blow.
Hyena Companion
Levels in crocutamancer stack with levels that grant a hyena companion for the purpose of determining that companion’s effective druid level.
Noble Terror (Ex)
A crocutamancer may use her wisdom modifier in place of her charisma modifier to Intimidate.
Splendid Growth (Ex)
At level 2, a crocutamancer’s hyena companion becomes Large. It gains a permanent +2 bonus to strength and constitution and its bite deals 1d8+strength mod damage.
Kneecap (Ex)
At level 2, a crocutamancer may treat a greatclub as though it had the trip weapon quality.
Wretched Laughter (Ex)
At level 3, a crocutamancer may spend a swift action to cackle and howl as a hyena, making an intimidate check to demoralize.
Frightening Beast (Ex)
At level 4, a crocutamancer may, as a standard action, make an intimidate check against a shaken creature, as thought to demoralize. If that check succeeds, the creature becomes frightened.
Precise Power (Ex)
At level 4, a crocutamancer reduces the accuracy penalty when making a power attack against a creature that is shaken, frightened, or cowering by 2, to a minimum of -1.
Pack Wounds (Ex)
At level 5, a crocutamancer and her hyena companion learn how to coordinate their attacks to maximize damage. Whenever the hyena companion makes a successful bite attack, if the crocutamancer has successfully damaged that creature since the hyena’s last round or since combat started if it is the first turn, the bite deals an additional 1d8 damage.
Matriarch’s Aim (Ex)
At level 5, a crocutamancer may use her wisdom modifier in place of her strength modifier for attack rolls made with a bludgeoning weapon.

Sunday: The Sun - Day of expression
The Sun is the center of the self, it also relates to self-expression
Today we will start a journal - write down what you feel free to do(“I am free to speak my own mind and free to choose what to eat. I am free to choose what I do today”)
Carry out at least one activity today that you listed in honor of the Sun tarot card
⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・
Monday: The High Priestess - Day of mystery
Perform a simple 5 card tarot reading, drawing one card for today, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Write down what immediately comes to mind for each card - what you think each day will be like, based on its cards?
At the end of the day review the card and your experiences, and contemplate any connections between your divination and the day itself
⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・
Tuesday: The Tower - Day of change
Sudden change is coming from outside of ourselves and there is little we can do other than create new horizons out of the change
Make a list of things you can change
Change something today deliberately and I full awareness(you can write “I can change my shoes, my hair, my desktop”)
Don't forget to revisit Monday's prediction for today
⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・
Wednesday: The Magician - Day of magic
Take the 7 planetary tarot cards(the Sun, the High Priestess, the Tower, the Magician, the Wheel of fortune, the Empress, the World)and lay them out, face-up in this order
Shuffle them and lay them out, face-down in a line
Move your hands across them being face-down while saying “If I don't discover the Magician, I will…” and put a sort of penalty
If your first chosen card was the Magician you have a totally free day
If not repeat until you find the Magician but be sure to do all the penalties
If you have to do 6 tasks then you truly experience the correspondence of the card to the trickster Mercury
After check again your Monday's predictions for this day
⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・
Thursday: The Wheel of fortune - Day of Flow
The task for today is to simply go along with whatever unfolds
Live for the moment, make no plans, hold no regrets
Be present as much as possible and experience the day fully
Make a note in your journal how this day differs from the previous Mercurial Magician day, and begin to observe how all days vibrate between these 2 extremes(from 1 of the Magician to the 10 of Wheel of fortune)
Don't forget to revisit Monday's prediction for today and write about it in the journal
⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・
Friday: The Empress - Day of growth
The Empress symbolizes natural growth, cultivation, care, motherhood, and the divine feminine
This day we should celebrate our ability to nurture all that grows toward the light of the sun
Choose one thing to grow and nurture - you can choose a relationship or a project at work, to teach someone something
Make a note in your journal how this offering, this nurturing enriches your life and how it connects to all that has preceded in the week
Also, remember to revisit Monday's prediction and write about it
⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・⋆.ೃ࿔:・🕯☾🕊️☽🕯⋆.ೃ࿔:・
Saturday: The World - Day of engagement
In this day we consolidate and manifest our work
Saturn is the planet of structure, tradition, and constraint - it can hold us back and challenge us, yet it rewards us at the same time
Today is very a material day - enjoy the material world(go for a walk in the park, go shopping, get out and touch, smell, feel, and sense the world)
Enjoy what you can today and make notes in the journal of your experience to the World

Deranged, Destitute, and Dishonest Dementia Dummy donnie j. dump Doesn't Get To Be The Republican Presidential Nominee Anymore…Mwahahahahahahahahaa!!! A March 18, 2024 Update For All Political Debate Lovers! Part 3/17
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 2013, 456,000 women younger than 20 became pregnant. Some 448,000 of those pregnancies were among 15–19-year-olds, and 7,400 were among those aged 14 and younger. https://www.guttmacher.org/report/us-adolescent-pregnancy-trends-2013.
Those 7400 aged 10 to 14 American mothers would've been in 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade before they and their babies were enslaved and condemned to childhood motherhood, extreme poverty, and physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, and medical abuse and neglect. It's not just 7400 10 to 14 year old child-mother victims, it's a minimum of 14,800 newborn to 15-year-old victims, plus anyone who'd try to help them who'd be subjected to prison and/or the death penalty all in the names of Jesus Christ, the Almighty Abrahamic God of the Jews/Hebrews, and the Holy Spirit of the Almighty Abrahamic God of the Jews/Hebrews. That's not honorable, sacred, or patriotic, that's godless tyranny. That's self-indulgent terrorism and it's undeniably anti-American.
Not including the hijackers, the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks killed 2,977 people, injured thousands more and gave rise to substantial long-term health consequences while also generating at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. It has been described by many as the deadliest terrorist act in human history and remains the deadliest incident for both firefighters and law enforcement personnel in the history of the United States, killing 340 and 72 from each organization. (Wikipedia)
Here's a list of a few Conservative culture darlings whose lives may have turned out quite differently had their male family members and community leaders and members started molesting and grooming them from when they were bottle-feeding newborns, through their diapered years, and then put their members where they didn't belong at least 2 to 3 times per week when these women were just unsuspecting and helpless girls between 10 and 14 years old: Patsy Cline, Minnie Pearl, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle, Barbara Mandrell, Dottie West, Emmylou Harris, Terri Gibbs, Janie Fricke, Reba McEntire, Kay Toinette Oslin, Kathy Mattea, Tanya Tucker, Wynonna Judd, Naomi Judd, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Suzy Bogguss, Pam Tillis, Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, LeAnn Rimes, Trisha Yearwood, Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Lee Ann Womack, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Nettles, Lady Antebellum, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Liz Rose, Lori McKenna, Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, and Lainey Wilson.
An important question for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election is: "Did those age 10 to 14 pregnancy numbers increase, or decrease, during donald john trump's presidency?"

2020: Unknown, but it's known that COVID-19 pandemic domestic violence, abuse, and sex offences were greatly increased during the pandemic when society at-large was severely distressed.
The numbers are clear: If Americans want to make America great again, where women and girls are safer with a future of personal choices and freedoms, the person to vote for in 2024 is Joseph Biden with a proven track record of a considerably greater and safer country during his entire Vice Presidency and Presidency than donald john trump.
The clear and undeniable reason President Joe Biden is far superior in energy, health, fitness, strength, focus, cognizance, appearance, and results is because President Joe Biden actually listens to experts, implements their advice, and has a proven track record of successes to show for it; whereas donald trump is lazy, low energy, weak, scattered, morbidly obese, unattractive, uneducated, unsophisticated, lawless, and uncivilized because he's Joe Biden's polar opposite and rides around in a golf cart instead of walking the golf course every time he plays golf the way he's continuously advised to by actual experts, instead of working on what he's supposed to; like with his 365-day endless taxpayer-funded golf vacation from 2016 to 2021. Dilapidated donald trump honestly believes that swinging a golf club 18 times per day, lying about the results, and riding around in a golf cart is legit exercise that's forged and keeps him a "strong" and "trim" 6' 3" and 215 lbs. The notice of Deranged and Destitute Dishonest Dementia Dummy donnie j. dump's bond and appeal was made with the federal court in New York on Friday. In January, a federal jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million in damages as a result of Tiny Tearful Toddler trump’s defamatory statements denying he raped her, saying she wasn’t his type, and accusing her of making up the allegation to boost sales of her book. Insurance company Chubb underwrote the bond for Trounced and Tenderized Tired trump, which the disgraced and emasculated former president signed on Tuesday. Under the terms of the bond, Chubb will only secure the appeal of the $83.3 million judgment, not any future appeals. (CNN)

And the most hilarious update to all of that is that LIDDLE Cognitively Crippled Cuck connie j. chump defamed E. Jean Carroll so many times since his Fat Elvis connie Chubb(y) self posted his $91.63 million bond, that he's now Upgraded his life to a Brand New Defamation Suit WHILE he appeals the $5 million Rape Case AND the $91.63 million Defamation Case. Patriarchy is the power of the fathers: a familial-social, ideological, political system in which men by force, direct pressure, or through ritual, tradition, law, and language, customs, etiquette, education, and the division of labor, determine what part women shall or shall not play, and in which the female is everywhere subsumed under the male. . . .
At the core of patriarchy is the individual family unit which originated with the idea of property and the desire to see one's property transmitted to one's biological descendants. Simone de Beauvoir connects this desire with the longing for immortality—in a profound sense, she says, "the owner transfers, alienates, his existence into his property; he cares more for it than for his very life; it overflows the narrow limits of his mortal lifetime, and continues to exist beyond the body's dissolution—the earthly and material incorporation of the immortal soul. But this survival can only come about if the property remains in the hands of its owner; it can be his beyond death only if it belongs to individuals in whom he sees himself projected, who are his." A crucial moment in human consciousness, then, arrives when man discovers that it is he himself, not the moon or the spring rains or the spirits of the dead, who impregnates the woman; that the child she carries and gives birth to is his child, who can make him immortal, both mystically, by propitiating the gods with prayers and sacrifices when he is dead, and concretely, by receiving the patrimony from him. At this crossroads of sexual possession, property ownership, and the desire to transcend death, developed the institution we know: the present-day patriarchal family with its supernaturalizing of the penis, its division of labor by gender, its emotional, physical, and material possessiveness, its ideal of monogamous marriage until death (and its severe penalties for adultery by the wife), the "illegitimacy" of a child born outside wedlock, the economic dependency of women, the unpaid domestic services of the wife, the obedience of women and children to male authority, the imprinting and continuation of heterosexual roles.

Personally, I believe that the ability & power to create a new life is unique and remains unmatched. Women deserve a lot more recognition, respect and especially support — after all, women preserve our species and yet are punished for being able to do so.
Nevertheless, just because we belong to the sex class that owns this, not every woman can, and NO woman has to.
We can appreciate the wonder & the fact that women as a whole are a force of nature, REGARDLESS of whether or not they have children eventually, and see the positive & lovely aspects of it whilst STILL being truthful about the experience, risks, complications and overall negative aspects.
Talking about the truth of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum & how women are pressured or forced into it and get abused and disadvantaged further by society and even their partners/friends/family in many, if not most, cases is not "demonizing" it. We can talk about the positive aspects and experiences AND spread awareness about the harsher reality of it.
Every woman deserves to be fully aware of EVERYTHING, and every woman deserves to be able to make an ACTUAL choice, not a "choice" that is the product of manipulation, socialization, conditioning and/or a lack of information.
Creating & giving life is unique and powerful, but no woman is "less than" when she CHOOSES NOT TO, or simply can‘t.

Unsurprisingly, I see a lot of conversation about the infamous ‘gender pay gap’.
A lot of opinions, and strongly held believes, and plenty of information that is not accurate, or at least… not anymore.
For the nature and shape of the pay gap has changed. And so out of the outrage, garbled conjecture, and political agendas; must come a new conversation that once again asks, ‘why are women paid less?’
Because the truth is, it’s not ‘women’ who are getting paid less, but rather ‘women with children’.
Mothers who are out of work, either full or part time, whose lower income drags the average down - they are a large piece of the conversation, too often missing.
No. Women are not paid less than men, and such slogans belong in the museum, not upon the placards of today.
Now it’s time to talk about parenthood.
To honestly discuss why mothers are paid less than fathers, and ask if this is a result of societal expectations… or women’s own free choices?
Do women want to be part time parents?
Do men? Who wants to work full time at a job they don’t even like anyway?
Do you?
We rightly talk about the price of motherhood on women; but what is the price of barely seeing your child at all?
What is the price of the late nights at work, or early morning shifts; or the second job, to make ends meet?
Also if mothers are to get equal pay, are they willing to share their parental leave with fathers in order to get it?
These are better questions.
And one’s I don’t see asked.
Instead I find the pay gap conversation to be a broken record; that redirects energy from logic and reason, into outrage and anger instead.
Yet another stick to hit ‘men’ with, another patriarchal poster child, and sermon preached from the pulpit.
It is a gap that is never closed, because it is never truly discussed.
So tell me, what’s in the gap?

What's in the gap is different choices and different priorities. It's sexist to act like men's choices are the default, correct ones, and if men and women make different choices and get different outcomes, there's a problem that needs to be solved.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18179326/
Abstract Previous research suggested that sex differences in personality traits are larger in prosperous, healthy, and egalitarian cultures in which women have more opportunities equal with those of men. In this article, the authors report cross-cultural findings in which this unintuitive result was replicated across samples from 55 nations (N = 17,637). On responses to the Big Five Inventory, women reported higher levels of neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness than did men across most nations. These findings converge with previous studies in which different Big Five measures and more limited samples of nations were used. Overall, higher levels of human development--including long and healthy life, equal access to knowledge and education, and economic wealth--were the main nation-level predictors of larger sex differences in personality. Changes in men's personality traits appeared to be the primary cause of sex difference variation across cultures. It is proposed that heightened levels of sexual dimorphism result from personality traits of men and women being less constrained and more able to naturally diverge in developed nations. In less fortunate social and economic conditions, innate personality differences between men and women may be attenuated.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27000535/
Abstract Men's and women's personalities appear to differ in several respects. Social role theories of development assume gender differences result primarily from perceived gender roles, gender socialization and sociostructural power differentials. As a consequence, social role theorists expect gender differences in personality to be smaller in cultures with more gender egalitarianism. Several large cross-cultural studies have generated sufficient data for evaluating these global personality predictions. Empirically, evidence suggests gender differences in most aspects of personality-Big Five traits, Dark Triad traits, self-esteem, subjective well-being, depression and values-are conspicuously larger in cultures with more egalitarian gender roles, gender socialization and sociopolitical gender equity. Similar patterns are evident when examining objectively measured attributes such as tested cognitive abilities and physical traits such as height and blood pressure. Social role theory appears inadequate for explaining some of the observed cultural variations in men's and women's personalities. Evolutionary theories regarding ecologically-evoked gender differences are described that may prove more useful in explaining global variation in human personality.

On Gretchen
Someone asked about Gretchen from Goethe's Faust, but so long ago that I don't really dare @ them anymore.
CW: Grim stuff below, relating to gender roles, reproductive rights, judicial history, child death and so on. Long post too.
So Gretchen / Margarete (etc.) was invented by Goethe. She doesn't really exist in previous versions of the Faust legend, where Faust mostly lusts after various mythological figures, demons, or men.
But in Goethe's time, the fate of unmarried mothers was a huge topic and widely discussed. See, having children outside of wedlock was basically illegal and was considered very shameful for the women who it happened to. So, fairly often, these women would hide their pregnancies, and then abandon or kill the child when it was born. This mostly affected working-class people.
And the public hated them. Obviously killing children is wrong, but people also thought that a woman killing her own child went against the very principles of womanhood and motherhood. So the women who were convicted of killing their new-born child were often punished with the death penalty.
(What were these women supposed to do? Well, just put up with the social shaming and give the child to an orphanage, where it would more likely than not die anyway.)
But it was not consensus that death was the appropriate punishment. Many people argued that child murder should get a different sentence, some out of compassion for the mother's difficult situation, others because they felt death was not enough of a deterrent compared to a loss of reputation.
Goethe himself was a jurist and discussed the question of the child murdering mother in his dissertation. That text is lost today. He also started working on the Faust material around the same time, including the Gretchen plot. So he must have had some sympathy. In the 1780s, Goethe himself was involved in a trial of a servant accused of murdering her child and he voted for the death penalty; the woman was executed. (Goethe's vote may or may not have mattered; scholars have different opinions. Consider this book review for additional info).
Either way, the Gretchen episode fits well into the general theme of Faust's adventures. Wanting to fall in love with some girl and sleep with her is quite natural and not a bad thing. But in Faust's case, it results in four deaths, and every attempt he makes to help the situation just makes things worse. Because the actual devil he's invited into his life is helping / not helping.
But Gretchen is one of the few people in this story who are not corruptible. She rejects the devil's offer to free her and goes to her death willingly. So logically, she must go to heaven, because she resists temptation and accepts justice.
But is this really the best thing to do? Is it actually fair that she must die? Is this something Goethe really believed? Couldn't she have escaped jail and the devil? Couldn't she find a happy life and repent at leisure? One wonders.
However, this aspect is also based on something that happened in the real world, namely the case of Maria Flint who was actually abducted from jail by the father of the child that she killed, and who actually chose to come back and be executed.
Anyway I can't help but feel this story about a very real and horrible problem of jurisprudence became the foundation of the whole trope of dudes being saved by the Eternal Feminine, which plagues all works of the 19th century from ETA Hoffmann through Don Juan Tenorio to the way Richard Wagner resolves literally every one of his operas. Woman-hating behavior. Annoying. And all because Goethe felt bad about killing someone.

Your post about Daniel's LinkedIn page reminds me of a theory I had awhile back. I think Daniel wrote a "fiction" novel called The Devil's Minion back in the day, but he never got it published. He'll be reminded of it in s2 and as he's reading the old manuscript, we'll see the story onscreen
oh, that would actually be pretty cool. like we know daniel never finished the book he was writing in 85, from that one trailer. the part where they mention alice and daniel says something about never finishing the book and leaving without paying the bill. that could have been the book he was writing! i mean, probably a straight (and maybe even white) washed version of it, since it was 80s. and daniel seems to struggle with his sexuality. unless he was writing under a pseudonym, which is what he did when he wrote iwtv in the books. and
(also book lestat used a pseudonym to write his books. do you think he used daniel's pseudonym, and has basically been plagiarizing him this entire time? or did he publish under a different pen name and publish what was technically fanfic of daniel's iwtv? you don't have to answer that. i just wonder these things)
but yeah, that could have been what he was writing. maybe he meant to publish it as a sort of goodbye, or as a romantic gesture toward Armand (maybe trying to win him back? perhaps armand is tired of sharing daniel with his family? or maybe armand left him so he could have his family, but he didn't take his memories?)
then alice tells him she's pregnant. daniel realizes he can't leave her now. one kid she could manage by herself, but not two. bc it's the 80's and even though the EPA was passed in 63 it wasn't exactly strictly adhered to, and there's still that wage penalty for motherhood thing going on, and while maternity leave was given, it could still get given unpaid or underpayed. it all depended on where you worked. we didn't get fmla until 93. daniel could literally be leaving his wife and children for at least 6-12 weeks. even at 6 weeks, or hell, maybe she got those weird mom hormones and liked hulked it out and only took 4 weeks. That's still a month with no income, so the only she'd have is what's left in her and daniel's joint account, bc that's a goddamn crazy thing that married couple's do, like to this day. and daniel is drug addict, that bank account is probably in the red. and alice is probably smart if daniel falls for her, in the books his two relationships are armand and marius. armand is extremely clever. but also a manipulative bastard. marius is basically a fucking philosopher. and also a manipulative bastard. so my theory is alice is also probably smart, and at least a little bit of a bastard. so that girl definitely has a run fund.
(let me explain the run fund thing to y'all that is too young to have heard about this. when you get to a certain age--it differs depending how far down south you are--your momma pulls you aside and tells you that you need a run fund. she may not call it that, there are different names for it, or she may try to phrase it more delicately so you don't think this is just about your father, bc it applies to all men. (and if you're mom is progressive, she'll say something like, 'or maybe a woman if that's how you turn out') i am from the south. i am telling the southern tale of this, where most of us are brought up baptist, so we're supposed to not think lustful thoughts, but at the same time, there's kinda this assumption that girls are like naturally chaste. like girls don't watch porn, girls don't masturbate, girls can enjoy sex, but never desire it. at the same time there are those women. whores, sluts, hoes, bad women. and their was a tight fucking line you had to walk to prevent yourself from being one of them. you know, typical virgin/whore complex shit. anyway i think i was around 16ish when my mom told me. it's your emergency stash of money you have hid away somewhere, something secret that he (or she) doesn't know about it. it's your 'get the fuck out money'. it's your 'if something happens' money. and your momma ain't gotta tell you what if something happens means, because you already know; it's if he hits you, if he hits the kids, if he forces you into it, if he touches you like that without your permission, if he touches one of the kids like that. it's your grab the kids and go money. if you're lucky it'll get you back to family or friends who can take you in. or maybe you have enough to shack up at some cheap motel for awhile. but don't sign anything with his name, use your maiden name if you can get away with it, and never ever use any of the checks or cards with his name on it, use your cash. only your cash. take the first job you can find, no matter how shitty. but always look for something better. leave the kids with whoever you can find to keep them, and then you just keep going til you find something better and you find something better and then one day finally you can fucking breathe and you realize that you're okay that got really long and over winded but i am, so fucking high rn.
anyway, what i'm saying is alice could have reasonably had enough money to float by a month or two hidden away, but daniel wouldn't know about it anyway. so from his point of view he'd be leaving his kids with zero income for at least a month. so he couldn't be a dick and do that, he'd have to stay until at least she could go back to work.
but of course he could always leave before she has the baby, like as soon as he fucking finds out. but there's a 50/50 chance she's on his insurance because sometimes it's better to be on your spouses insurance than use your own. so he could hypothetically leave his pregnant wife without access to medical care.
maybe he decides to try to 'do the right thing' and stay with alice until she's able to make it by herself. hell, maybe he decides to stay long term bc he decides he wants to be a good father and not abandon his kids.
or he does the easy thing and is like, 'armand, babe, could we send them money? i'd feel really bad about leaving them if we didn't' and then makes puppy eyes at armand, or something more x-rated if you're nasty.
and armand is either going to erase his memory 'for his own good' so he can go live a normal human life. or daniel is going to try to call things off for good, and armand knows he won't be able to give up what they have, so his erases his memories so he can go live his mortal life, but he's like, super bitter about it. or worse option, daniel could ask armand to wipe his memories of them so he can move on.
god, i have been rambling so much. i have strayed far from the original point into what seem like random tangents, but i promise on link together in a beautiful spiderweb in brain. like that silvery stuff in that one windows loading screen or screen saver or something. i think this may be back from the windows xp days.
but my point is i really like your theory. and kinda want write fic about it one day, far away (but only with your permission of course)

These men just don't want to be around kids otherwise they would be the fun uncle, volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, be ok with dating women with kids and have a good relationship with the step kids. They just think they were entitled to biological offspring.

Father’s Day is dangerous for Robert Nurden. Childless not through choice but, as he puts it, “complacency, bad luck, bad judgment”, he tries to stay indoors and ignore the family celebrations outside.
But one year, he went for a walk. “I met family after family. There were children everywhere,” he remembered. “It was terrible. Just so painful. So many ambushes and triggers for my anguish.”
There is very little research into men who have not had children, although that is beginning to change. Research by Dr Robin Hadley has found that 25% of men over 42 do not have children – 5% more than women of the same age group.
Half of the men who are not fathers but wanted to be describe a huge grief and isolation from society. Almost 40% have experienced depression and a quarter feel a deep anger
Now 72, Nurden had a sheltered upbringing. Reaching adulthood, there was a lot he wanted to experience. “Having children was a very low priority. I was complacent: I just assumed it would happen,” he said.
It was not until he was in his early 40s that Nurden started to get broody. But by that point, he discovered, women of a similar age had already had children, if they were able or wanted to.
“I went into this 15-year period of not going into relationships or ending relationships quickly because I knew that person wasn’t going to want or be able to have a child with me – or that the relationship wasn’t going to be strong enough to last if we did have a child,” said Nurden.
He said high-profile older fathers breed complacency in ordinary men. “If I’m honest, even when I was in my 50s I believed that it might happen for me. But in real life, the Mick Jagger and Jon Snow-age fathers are actually very rare – and in any case, it’s medically not wise, as regards sperm quality.”
What compounded Nurden’s pain was that there was no public or private discussion about how men feel when circumstance leaves them unable to become fathers.
“There’s lots of publicity, quite rightly, about women and childlessness but men are very mute about this. Married men don’t want to hear it either: I’ve had men with children react with anger, as though they feel threatened, when I’ve tried to talk about my pain,” he said.
“I was mute too until recently, because as I aged, I found the regret grew into a great pain,” he added. “Unlike many other forms of grief, this compounds itself as it gets older: I wasn’t a father but now I’m not a grandfather. When I’m even older, I might find myself entirely alone.”
Nurden has published a book, I Always Wanted to be a Dad: Men Without Children, about his story and that of some other men. “It turns out that there is a lot of pain, regret and sadness out there,” he said.
Hadley, the researcher, is childless because although his wife had wanted children, by the time she and Hadley met, her age meant the risk of having one was too great. “I chose love but that doesn’t make the pain of not having children any less,” he said. “When a close colleague had his first child, I was so jealous that I couldn’t be in the same room as him.”
Being a father is a marker of status in many countries, said Hadley, but not in the west. “While there has recently been a lot more public discussion about how to be a good father, we still don’t have any narrative or celebration about how important it is for men to become a father in the first place,” he said.
Paul Goulden, the chair of Ageing Without Children, said that, along with the lack of public dialogue about becoming a father, he was “not convinced that there’s this Game of Thrones genetic push felt by men to have children”.
Instead, he said: “There’s this mistaken belief that men are fertile across their lifespan, so there’s no imperative to get on with it.”
That complacency persists because men without children historically have not spoken about their grief. But, Goulden said: “I hope Robert’s book will trigger a change in public dialogue around this issue. I think there’s an overwhelming sense of loneliness and fear out there about who is going to be there for these men, when they’re old and all alone.”
I wonder what their exes for these men would about them. Because the bar for Father's is so low that women showing they didn't want kids with them should really be a sign to do some soul searching.
Personal experience.......I think of my ex fiance who constantly said he wanted ro get married and have kids. However his actions said he wanted me to have the kids while he worked full time, he didn't believe in daycare so no job for me, and he would have to go to the gym almost everyday, he had a physically demanding job, and of course have his weekly card night with his buddies. And yes I stated all my objections but he had tunnel vision when it came to his fantasy family life. There's more but those were the issues relevant to this article.

A thing that makes one of the major points used against Rhaenyra ludicrous (what she does for her children, no matter what - her motherhood experience in any form) is that is the the ONE endless defence used for Alicent instead, on the other hand.
For Rhaenyra it's - "She had children out of wedlock, she brought death on them herself. It's hypocrisy to stand up against people calling them bastards/go to war/threaten/etc."
For Alicent it's - "Aegon is a rapist but she is her baby! Aemond is a violent sadist but he is her baby! What is she to do? Of course she does unscrupulous things out of motherly love! Of course she wants a conflict if she has the slightest suspicion they can be in danger!"
There's also of course the part where motherhood in itself as a burden/trial is a contender of sympathy for Alicent but none at all for Rhaenyra. Both women have multiple almost back to back pregnancies as is their duty. Alicent receives endless sympathy, but Rhaenyra at most indifference, and in many cases even exasperation with her audacity to be shown it's a dire struggle for her as a woman, too, and that it comes with strong motherly feelings and bodily danger.
It is also the fact that even before Rhaenyra has her children to be considered liable for, Alicent's side of motherhood in offence against the 'threat' of Rhaenyra already started. The narrative paints Alicent as not even 'at fault' for their existence, due to how the relationship between her and Viserys is presented in the show (there's pushback against even moving the 'fault' to Otto, if it means being in a negative connection with Alicent's family feelings association).
So suddenly Rhaenyra has the fault of her own existence to carry then, cut short before even introducing the grace of either blameless or guilty motherly feelings in her case.
Before she does anything, she gets disqualified from any grace allowance whatsoever. For one can discuss the faults of Viserys here, but it only comes down to the fact that not only is she not given the same grace of "protective mother, even when in the wrong" that Alicent gets, she doesn't even get the allowance of the "protected child, even when in the wrong" that Alicent's children get by extension.
(And I'm not saying Viserys has any ground for the same "graces in faults" as a parent that are extended to Alicent - and yet not to Rhaenyra - but even to Otto as "acknowledged bad doer, but father").
The point I am trying to make, I guess, is that the obvious partiality is very outstanding when it comes to people raising such "graces" for Alicent.
(And, yes, I've given thought as to whether it happens in reverse when to comes to defending Rhaenyra and her children instead, but it only gets quantified: there is no excusing children making mistakes and being protected when a 6 years old Luke ends up taking Aemond's eye, but "grace" is expected when an adult Aemond actually kills Luke (we can only assume Alicent will not only forgive him but protect him from consequences - the lawful penalty for killing - instead of giving him up to be convicted for manslaughter - killing someone even if unintentional, as the show painted it - for "peace" - essentially, that she would give a son's life for a life, as she once asked for an eye and was appraised as "in the right" in commentaries); there is no "grace" expected for Rhaenyra standing by her children while having the 'fault'/'crime' of being bastards - which even if put on her is not on them - but "grace" is expected in Alicent still standing by her son while a rapist - even of her own daughter! - because of motherly feelings - which is his very own fault and crime, etc).

Francesca Barigozzi of the University of Bologna, Helmuth Cremer of the University of Toulouse Capitole, and Emmanuel Thibault of the Toulouse School of Economics find that women who take a temporary absence from the labor market after childbirth experience long-term or permanent wage penalties relative to individuals who do not do so. The authors develop a model of on-the-job human capital accumulation and wage rates, in which the temporary absence slows the growth of on-the-job skills and may induce working mothers to enter a cycle of lower effort and lower wages relative to identical counterparts. The authors argue that temporary subsidies to mothers' wages, such as Earned Income Tax Credits, incentivize mothers to maintain their labor supply and mitigate the loss of human capital, helping to close the wage gap. This creates a positive spiral of increasing labor supply and wage rates, alleviating the gender gap in earnings both in the short and long run. In contrast, mandatory maternity leave policies and cash transfers induce women to lower their labor supply and reduce the likelihood of closing the wage gap.
