The movie is alright, but there is a weird distinction between a movie that wants to tell a story, and a movie that wants to tell a story and also an Oscar.

A standard movie runs better or worse an argument with its beginning and end, a particular style of the director or not, with the viewer leaving at the end more or less satisfied and entertained.

A movie that wants an Oscar, which is not the same than a movie that deserves an Oscar, takes a relatively simple story and adorns it with shots, illumination, miths, philosophy and "food for thought" tropes with an almos baroque density so that when the old farts in the Academy watch it, they think that there is something there because it appeals to their pretensions of Supreme Council of Cinematography and Movimaking.

The first criminal with this charges is, of course, Nolan. Not the only one, but the first in the list.

This movie embelishes the original tale, yeah, it's not even an original idea, with an honestly breathtaking exterior shots and special effects, a great soundtrack, a rythm that frankly plays a little against the movie, because one gets distracted very easily as it is so damn slow, interior shots that are cool during the day but have less light than a heavy metal pub during a blackout, seriously, I can't see a DAMN THING, a correct non-verbal acting, and a screenplay that adapts the main tropes of the tale pretty good, all of which plays to a little bit pretentious movie, which wouldn't be a problem, if it wasn't because the original story has as a main premise to suck up and face the consequences of the colossal FUCK UP of Gawain in the party, because the fucking idiot could've just cut the knight in the cheek with a kitchen knife and be done with all of these nonsense.

TL DR, very nice visually, but this movie thinks I'm dumb
