The Daily Telegram: 7/17/13: Mr. Clay Bakes His Buns

 One day, Mr. Clay was sitting on his front porch, taking a break from his sculpting (He made clay figures and objects, you see) and enjoying the warm summer day. Since he was very hot, he had poured himself a nice, cold glass of orange juice. When he had drained his juice, Mr. Clay began to put on his wet suit, preparing to dive down to the ocean floor to get sand, which he made into clay.

Mr. Clay lived on an ocean island far from land, so he provided everything he needed for himself, planting fruit trees, catching fish, growing vegetables and harvesting sand. He had made a nice little wooden house out of driftwood for himself, with a bedroom, a bathroom with a glass sink, and a kitchen.

Mr. Clay had suited up by now, and was just about to dive into the ocean. He whistled, and Shiny, his Axlotl, surfaced, full of krill she had just caught.

Shiny waited patiently while Mr. Clay attached numerous saddlebags to her, making sure that he had enough room to carry all the sand. Sploosh! In went the odd pair, Shiny carrying Mr. Clay down tho the richest sand mine. When Mr. Clay looked around, he saw three baby octopi sitting on some vibrantly colored coral with their mother and father. A smack of jellyfish gently undulated, gliding across the sand and floating past a great, big eel, and two angelfish swam together in squiggles and wiggles.

Finally, the axolotl and her luggage/ owner alighted upon a large flat rock that Mr. Clay used for a mining base.

Mr. Clay took out his coral box, and, swimming over to a large coral plant, plucked several flowers from it. He would fry these later, when he got back home.

Then he swam over to the spot he had found to yield the finest sand for making clay models and took a small drill and a container for sand from his bag. He chose a large clump of sand, then dug into it, placing the fine sand dust into his container.

Since Mr. Clay was running out of Oxygen and had procured enough sand, he hopped back onto Shiny and told her, “Please swim back up now.” SHe did as she was told, and before you could even say Zippety-zap-zoom, Mr. Clay was back on the surface.Two hours later, all of the sand Mr. Clay had harvested was hardening into clay. While the sand hardened, Mr. Clay thought about what he should make. Eventually, he decided to make another chair for his table, since he only had one and would have liked to have another, just in case his friend, Mr. Shay, came over for tea.

When the sand was clay, Mr. Clay set to work sculpting a chair. He made the chair identical to his current chair, and when he had finished, he stepped back to admire his work.

Setting the chair outside in the sun to bake, Mr. Clay decided to try it out. It looked so comfortable. When he sat down, he was soooooooooo sleepy that he soon dozed off, and when he woke up, he discovered that he had accidentally baked his buns to the chair (The sand residue on his fanny had hardened and stuck to him- and the chair)!

And so, Mr. Clay had to learn how to live with a chair stuck to his butt.
