Finding the Four-Eyed Samurai...With You?! - this one is a given but I’ll recommend it until my dying breath. Post-canon, in-depth historical research, fantastic storytelling. Chefs kiss. Linking the Ao3 version as those are the chapters the author has re-written, but there’s way more on FF that she is working on eventually re-writing. (I also love her to pieces she’s on here as @ryukyuan-sunflower !)

Though the Heavens Fall - another longtime favorite that is sadly unfinished but worth checking out.

Opportunity and Motive - a quick two parter.

Birthdays - short and sweet, the third chapter is so so so cute.

Birthday Booty - my one modern AU recommendation 🥲 (There’s just so few… I’m really doing my part in the fandom lol) Hear me out on this one: it is hilarious and surprisingly cute? Mugen cracks me up in it he’s so gross. I also think the author nailed their personalities. Jin gets the short end of the stick per usual but it’s funny anyway.

Currently Obsessed With: I am currently making myself sick with my renewed obsession with the anime Samurai Champloo, and specifically the OTP of the two main characters, Fuu x Mugen. I have been scouring the internet for fanfics, mainly oldies but they still bang and slap. I have also been obsessively listening to the shows soundtrack, along with remixes and tributes- plus downloading them on my iPod. I've been reblogging posts from 2015-2015 of gifs from the show. I am obsessed and it's to the point I'm thinking about buying the whole DVD set of the show off eBay.

The commonality in my ships

I really like pairings that are based on respect and being equals. They have a strength of character and have determination which inspires each other to push each other, and themselves.

Things to keep in mind:

They are allowed to be flawed

They are allowed to make mistakes

They get it wrong to sometimes get it right

They understand one another, or at least try a best they can

They can catch each other when they fall

They know their partner can make it throughout without them, but they want to support them all the same

They squabble and bicker to deal with the tension

They notice the little things

They are grateful towards one another

They are each others biggest fans

They inspire each other

They can see the good in them, even at their darkest

Alright alright here’s the full (full as in its six thirty in the morning so it’s what I can think of) list of Shorter Wong headcanons. these aren’t organized or anything but anyways enjoy

-he’s one of those people that listens to an absurd amount of music. Like he’s always got one headphone in, his phone has two million spotify playlists, you put on the radio and it’s playing Spanish pop but he’s like “oh I’ve heard this one!”

-adhd. Both hyperactive and inattentive type. He never got it diagnosed but it’s one of those things he and Nadia just Know.

-the back wall of his room is just one massive collage of STUFF™️. It’s part collage with newspaper articles, magazine cutouts, and printouts from shows and movies he likes, and part photo album. I think he had one of those cheap disposable cameras and just carried it around with him for a year and that was the result lol.

-chugs that respect women juice. Need I say more?

-I know I mentioned previously that his favorite anime would be Samurai Champloo (but tbh he just strikes me as a Watanabe person) but i have REASONS. i think maybe nadia would put on some random ass show to keep mini! shorter from burning the kitchen down and then he was like “WOAH THEY HAVE SWORDS”. I also think he would have a small existential crisis if you asked him to choose a favorite character because like “Mugen...so fucking cool but hes also a dick? So maybe Jin. Jin’s fucking awesome. Plus hes hot. And nice. But I also love Fuu! So all of them I guess?”

-he was a dinosaur kid and still has a fossil collection

-lives and breathes x-men comics! his favorite characters would probably be Logan or Gambit, but he has a soft spot for the flashier or more absurd members like Jubilee, Dazzler, Kitty Pryde or Nightcrawler. He definitely simps for Ororo Munroe. (but lets be honest who doesnt)

-has a multitude of stick n pokes! theyre really messy and some are deformed and ugly but he loves them anyways (thank you to @hearteiji for this idea! i love you so much i hope you’re not dying at work rn)

-for obvious reasons i think he’d be really good at helping people through panic attacks and such but i also think it contributed to him developing this complex where he feels as though he can’t talk about his issues or else he’s being selfish which, by the way, is bullshit!!

-david bowie fanboy (PUT ON YOUR RED SHOES-)

-steals his sister’s nail polish a lot

-very impulsive. and i mean VERY.

-also oddly self sacrificing? its kinda concerning

-periodically closet cosplays various fictional characters just to see if anyone would notice

-ash was his bi awakening

-hates anything with artificial banana flavoring

-when nadia’s busy he survives on instant ramen, trail mix, and gas station coffee

-literally in love with eiji okumura (but who isnt tbh) (wait that’s canon /j)

-has dyed his hair more than seven different colors 

-he was a recorder kid. like the type they’d give you in elementary school? he had one and named it benny or some shit and pissed off the neighbors with it until benny mysteriously disappeared

-didnt realize eiji and ash were dating until he saw them like. actively making out in front of him and then he was like “WAIT-”

-raised Sing like they were relatives. and by raised i mean he taught him the basic life skills: pickpocketing, flirting, and lying to authorities
