Welcome to Murder Drones Reverse AU!!!

It started as something silly, with simply N as a wd and Uzi as a dd, but since I can't do anything without digging a bigger hole, I made an entire au!

Some characters, behaviors, lines and even scenes are changed to adapt to the au.

One thing I'm still figuring out is what to do with the language since technically Cyn and Doll switch... Welp I'll figure that out eventually

I haven't drawn anything in days because I've been WRITING FANFICTION. BAM. AO3 LINK DROP.

Rated Teen and up: Warning for eventual show canon body horror and drone murder(HA, I said the thing, but reverse!).

The Void in Me - High School AU, mostly Uzi focused, slow burn NUzi. Secret agents, teen drama, supernatural solver powers. Humor, angst, horror, mystery, romance.

Summary: High school is already hard enough when you’re a social outcast with no friends—Uzi certainly didn’t need the extra hassle of a mysterious death orb crash-landing on her head and forcibly merging with her systems. Now her sensors are glitching, she’s haunted by visions of places she doesn't recognize, and her processors won’t stop replaying fragmented nightmares of painful experiments she’s never actually experienced—at least, she doesn’t think she has.

Meanwhile, agents N, V, and J have been deployed undercover as new students with one mission: locate the stolen artifact and neutralize any threats before the situation spirals out of control. Trained to covertly protect the public from entities even their own agency barely understands, the last thing they expect is for their prime suspect to be the awkward, snarky goth girl with the social skills of a kicked vending machine.

The fact that the Disassembly Drones were built to murder humans and not the workers is one hell of a reveal and not something I expected at all.

That’s probably why Nori kept making plans about the murder drones before they even arrived, she kept thinking they were after the drones, not remembering they were there for the humans.

Now that we know Tessa is was nothing but a skin puppet, are there any humans left? Are all of them dead?

ALSO WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE TESSA SKIN PUPPET?!

I thought maybe it was Cyn just puppeteering the spacesuit and making it seem bloody, but Jesus fucking Christ the skin suit was absolutely disturbing

Now we see where Uzi gets it from

N immediately screaming at the V hallucination and Uzi noping the fuck away from the wall of flesh was a great reverse on the usual horror tropes

So we’re just gonna gloss over how Nori is not only alive, but one of the weird little squid drones? If that affects drones with Absolute Solver, maybe Doll isn’t as dead as we think.

Just how much does J know? Is she even aware of Tessa being a puppet?

I love how in the fight between Uzi-Cyn and N, we get a callback to the Knife Dance!

“Nori! The truth is Uzi and I-“ and then he just writes “hang out”. They are really keeping the Nuzi fans in suspense, aren’t they.

“Your backups will forgive me” So there are clones of N? Did Cyn turn only N, J, and V into murder drones and then clone them a bunch?

Uzi drop kicked her own mother. This show is incredible.

N killed Tessa to save Uzi!

Elsie and Michael did an incredible job with the voice acting

Between the knife dance, hand holding, the “Hang out. Just hang out idk lol”, and the “We did NOT discuss being gross and stuff!”, I am getting so many mixed messages about N and Uzi’s relationship

I love that even though Nori’s head was scrambled when she married Khan and had Uzi, she actually thinks that Khan is a hunk in her normal mind.

Bit of a personal theory here, but with the way the show sets up both N and V having a crush on each other, and N and Uzi having a crush on each other, I think the show might actually have eNVUzi be canon rather than just Nuzi, Envy, or Vuzi, which I’d be totally down for

The way Uzi bites at the tentacle just so she can go down with a cool pose made me laugh

N just watched both of the girls he loves sacrifice themselves for him, learned that Tessa was fucking skinned and worn by Cyn like a puppet, learned that he himself has killed not just hundreds of worker drones but thousands of humans too, and is now alone in his quest to stop Cyn from destroying the universe.

He is going to need so much therapy if he survives this

Murder Drones: Losing your artificiality

WARNING. Discussion of typical Murder Drones gore and fictional mental conditions. Take care.

There is a trope, pretty much as old as sci-fi itself, where the more one becomes a machine the less human they become. Shadowrun has it as a mechanic, Cyberpunk has its cyberpsychosis and there are many examples where a character forced into a machine body loses their emotions.

To become too much of a machine is to lose your touch with emotions and empathy. In the worst cases, even to your morals. A machine only does what it feels is logical.

So, what would happen if the situation was reversed? What if a machine suddenly started becoming more flesh?

Murder Drones discusses this with its titular drone type and with infected Solver Drones.

Now, the basic worker drone is a very human creature. They have emotions, they have faults and they often aren't logical. They are the concept of an AI replicating humanity put to its logical endpoint. However, even if Uzi mentions hormones, it is all simulated.

Sure, to them it feels real (and let's face it, a lot of our own functions are mostly our brain making stuff up), but it is all code and simulations. Something they could technically turn off at will.

What happens when a worker drone gains flesh through the Solver? If Murder Drones was playing this trope reversal straight, it would result in the drone in question becoming more 'real.'

In a way, that is what happens. But instead of the drones becoming more human in an emotional and moral sense, they instead become more human in a baser way. Or, rather, they become more like a flesh and blood animal. Just like humanity is at its core.

The Disassembly Drones and Solver Drones gain urges that are very real and cannot be turned off. They hunger, they seek out something to satiate themselves and they draw pleasure from the process.

The drones gain an id to their already present ego and super-ego. An id that pushes them to consume and revel in it. Yes, it is used to stall overheating, but the way it appears to affect the drones is clearly also tied to hunger.

While a human becoming more machine loses touch with emotions and empathy, a drone becoming more flesh loses parts of its autonomy. They are now driven by primal urges that affect how they think and how they act. And these urges have no 'off' switch.

This change to the primal is shown with the Disassembly Drones having animal parts (tails, wings, extra eyes, claws, etc.) and some Solver Drones literally creating fleshy parts for themselves.

The way the show depicts this goes into the horror of losing your bodily autonomy and control. But it also goes into how these instincts and urges change you as a person as readily as becoming a machine does.

One loses its humanity to cold logic, the other to primal urges. In both cases, what makes one human is gone.

Using machines as the baseline for a story of primal horror is clever because the wet body horror then stands as a stark contrast to the mechanical and clean default.

This theme of the flesh twisting machines is further depicted through the main villain. The Absolute Solver is a singularity, but everything around it draws more from demonic imagery than the horror of an evil AI. The Solver brings it the horrors of the flesh, wrapped in the guise of sci-fi.

Underneath the exterior of a megacorp and its killing machines, you find vampires, witches, demons and even a form of lycanthropy. Creatures of urban horror, of the flesh.

What makes it all interesting, is how we see Tessa combine the two first in the timeline. She dug up both drone corpses and human ones and combined them by giving her reanimated drones human hair. We also see in her room hints that she was interested in alchemy.

Neither machine nor beast can take such an action, it needs a human to show them how.

Murder Drones proves with its use of subversion and tropes of another genre, that a sci-fi story doesn't need cybernetics to depict the loss of humanity. Humanity's own primal nature can be just as effective.

let's start from the obvious, it's a crossover that nobody waited for or asked for, but autism is an infectious thingie, and when two friends share a fallen london/sunless sea hyperfixation, and one of them also has a murder drones hyperfixation, creating a silly crossover is just a matter of time

from the less obvious side, i've made this in uhh TWO HOURS??? THREE????? this thing was just a small distraction, and it was definitely a good distraction, and it's funny that i was going to say in the next post that i need to learn to draw faster, DRAWING FAST FEELS NICE BUT, UH???

sometime in the future i want to make a full detailed post on this situation i think, but i'm gonna say that earlier we also had fl with characters from md, because of KHANate (fraction in the Neath) and because Neath has a lot of bat-related stuff in general (hehe mr bites), and we also joked about N being a sequencer, and about a CYNQUENCER (and that the Commodore would adopt Cyn, therefore N as well, cute)

but literally NOT TOO LONG AGO something happened and now it's all in reverse

AND WHO COULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD CREATE EVEN MORE SITUATIONS THAT BEFORE

and one of those is

a sequencer with the solver

i've thought it would be fun to make the Exile a host of the solver, because she's a sequencer, and because of the dawn machine in canon she can't entirely follow her philosophy (which includes uhh, giving her name away?? honestly i still dont fully understand what's it's all about, but i assume its one of the not so many ways to die permanently in the neath, or something close to that?), and in this case it's also affecting the solver in some way (at least visually for sure lol (i don't advise you to look at it for too long))

Here's my idea for Uzi's human family for your human Uzi AU

I have 3 ideas

1. Khan finds Uzi inside the factory from episode 6.

He was in a factory because he wanted to take some stuff that could be useful and maybe to impress Nori. While looking for some stuff he finds her human parents dead. Her human parents were living in the factory after core collapsed and they survided. But after a while they were killed by sentinels. Khan was about leave after he sees her dead human parents until he heard Uzi cooing and laughing. When he hears her, he finds her hidden under the desk in the box. He also finds out that Uzi's original name was Susie by her name bracelet but was scratched a bit. As he was about to leave with her, the sentinels attack which leads to wild goose chase but they manage to get out alive.

This was inspired by one scene in Tarzan movie how Kala found baby Tarzan

2. Her human parents accidentally left her behind.

Her human parents and other human survives had escaped through escape pods before core collapsed. They were about to leave but they couldn't get their daughter on time. As they flew and watched the core collapse they were devastated thinking that tgeir daughter was dead. But she wasn't and was eventually found by Khan, Nori or both

I think about how you can make the squad go to the planet where the rest of the humans are alive or make humans come to copper 9 to help the squad. And maybe maybe her humans parents see their daughter after so long or her relatives find her

You can make her parents good and her relatives bad guys or reversed

3. Her human parents are dead but have relatives

The same thing as the second one. You can make Uzi ask tons of questions about how were her parents like or something. I also think that humans would tell her about human stuff and how they work since she barely knows anything about her kind. You can make her relatives good guys or bad guys.

I'm quite curious how would her human family react to her being raised by drones

Anyway that's all. I really hope to see a fanfic about this au or a fanart. I really love this au. I had the same idea.

Originally I planned for Uzi to be found inside the last working cryogenic chamber of the bunker where the drones live, but you know what? It works better that way. Thanks for your suggestion @blue-fanlady!

To better understand WHY Uzi was there, however, let's just imagine that the industrial facility had a kindergarten where workers could leave their kids while they did their job, and that when Nori went on her murder spree the biological parents of Uzi tried to save their daughter by putting her into a cryogenic chamber before she murdered them. With the passage of years, the facility began to break down and all the chambers either began to malfunction and kill their hosts, were found by the Absolute Solver, who used the humans inside as biological components and materials for its creations or both... All except for one.

Years later Nori, after some visions of the future that showed her some worker drones she knew torn into pieces by a disassembly drone, decided to go back to the facility in search of something that could help the drones living inside the bunker to fight against disassembly drones after her attempts to convince the workers to add more defences the the bunker failed. Khan saw her leave in the middle of the night and decided to follow her and, after almost being killed by a dozen of sentinels and a baby worker drone with parts of various deceased disassembly drones crudely stitched to it, is found by Nori. After being chewed out about having followed in secret in such a dangerous place and then complaining that he only did that because she left in the middle of the night without telling anyone and he was worried for her safety, they get attacked by more sentinels and are forced to run, but as they try to find an exit they get briefly separated and Nori gets hurt by one sentinel and forced to hide in a room.

A room containing multiple broken down cryogenic chambers with corpses inside... except for one.

Nori is shocked by this, she didn't expect to see a still alive human on Copper 9 after she... the Absolute Solver blew up the core of the planet. She stares at her in silence, not knowing what to do. Then one of her eyes shifts in the symbol of the Absolute Solver and she slowly puts an hand on the glass of the cryogenic chamber, preparing herself to kill the child: while she is an innocent baby, she's still a member of the race that turned her into a monster, and as such she has to pay for their crime...

Then Khan barges in the room and forces her to stop before she can kill the baby. When he sees the chamber he is shocked to see the baby floating inside it and doesn't know what to do, but isn't ok with the idea of killing her:

Khan: Nori, you can't kill a baby!

Nori: Of course I can. (Grabs a steel pipe from a broken down cryogenic chamber)

Khan: B-but how??? How you can kill something so... so...

Nori: Jeez Khan, it's not that hard to kill a baby. (Prepares herself to swing)

Khan tries to convince her to stop from killing the child, stating that she's the last human on Copper 9, she's completely harmless and she has already lost everything, while Nori claims that the baby will probably grow up to become like one of the humans that enslaved the worker drones and since she has nothing left on the planet killing her would be a better solution than remaining inside a cryogenic chamber until it breaks down. Khan then says something that changes everything:

Khan: What if we raise her?

Nori: What?

Khan: What if we raise her as our daughter? We'll raise her like a drone, so that she won't become like the other humans!

Nori: Khan, that the most stupid idea I've ever heard. How do you think you'll be able to hide to the other drones that she's not a drone? How would you manage to keep her alive since this planet doesn't have an atmosphere anymore? How you will justify things like her hair growing or her having the need to eat and drink? HOW???

Khan: Well, I've heard of special drone types that are completely indistinguishable from humans, and the bunker where we live was built to house humans in case of danger, so...

Nori: ...

Khan: Please Nori...

Nori: ...

Khan: ...

Nori: ... Fine, you won. You can keep the human.

Khan: I knew I could...

Nori: But I still think that's a terrible idea and because of this I won't help you raise her.

Khan: Oh.

(Nori starts to walk away)

Khan: Were are you going?

Nori: I'll go check if there are more of those lizard things around here.

Khan: Can you help me at least find a way to transport the baby out of here without deactivanting or damaging the (Khan realizes that Nori has left the room) oh, alright... No problem... I'm sure I'll find a way...

After slaughtering hordes of sentinels in rage, Nori manages to create a safe way out from the building but before she gets out she decides to go back and check if Khan is still inside that room. When she finds him she discovers that Khan managed to find an old but still functional generator and has combined it with the cryogenic chamber, allowing it to be transported, but has failed to move it of a single inch due to their combined weight. With the help of her AS powers, Nori, reluctantly begins to help Khan transport the cryogenic chamber to the bunker, all while Khan rants off his desire to teach the baby all about doors and tries to find a good name for her...

Also yes, Uzi does have some still alive human relatives off planet, but since all files about human workers have either been damaged buring Nori's murder spree or cancelled by JCJenson IN SPAAAAACE! in order to hide their secret experiments with the Absolute Solver none of them know that she's alive. I'm currently toying around the idea of making Uzi a distant relative of Tessa, but I'm not very sure to add that and even if I add that it won't be important to the plot.

Murder Drones Predictions [containts spoilers for previous episodes]

Once I posted these prediction theories for what will further happen in Murder Drones on Twitter. These came up through a lively discussion on the Cartoon Universe Discord server.

Let us get through them one after another.

1. Uzi will meet her mother

This one proved to be true, hurray! Even it was through odd means. And Uzi wasn't aware that the core-crawler was her mother till N told her after, so...

2. Tessa wants Uzi dead

Also true! Even though it wasn't really Tessa...

3. Tessa is a cyborg

I mean... kind of :/? What we understand behind 'cyborg' is human with robotic parts. But in episode seven we saw Cyn wearing Tessas skin and probably her hair as well. So a robot with human parts. Is that a reversed cyborg of some sort? Tessa (human) being revealed to be Cyn (drone) and Cyn (drone) wearing Tessas (human) skin and hair. So... I was halfway true? Maybe?

4. The gang will find other colonies

This didn't come true and I don't think that they will use the finale to introduce or reveal other colonies. The only ways that this could still happen is if there will be a second season [wich isn't likely to happen TT v TT] or at the very end of the finale, like maybe in post-credit showing how the survivors (if there will be ones) find other colonies and how everyone works together to maybe build a real home for all the drones. Wishful thinking probably.

5. V will come back corrupted

For this we will have to wait till the finale. But I don't see why Absolute Solver would revive V other than to mess with N and Uzi. Well... it IS pretty sadistic so that happening isn't far fetched.

In summary I got 2 and a half out of 5 right. 3 and a half if the finale proves me right.
