Gotta love Farid Chenoune, writing about the muscadins and it’s like 0% about their beliefs or politics and 100% about their clothes:
Muscadins were the odd heroes of the frenzy of extravaganza and pleasure-seeking that gripped Paris right after the Terror, and again during the Directory period (1795-1799) when they became known as incroyables. These flashy youths revived not only neoclassical garb, but also an Anglomania-inspired casualness that went so far as to promote a “used” look. Le Messager des Dames even claimed in 1796 that the height of fashion required that the tailor’s scissors “slip” when finishing some detail. Many muscadins, in fact, were craftsmen, shop assistants and errand boys in the luxury garment trades (wig-makers, tailors, shoe-makers, hat-makers). All were drawn to the idea of distinguished appearance.

We planted muscadine vines today. I’m awaiting trellis parts, but the posts are in the ground.
Each vine can produce 100 pounds of grapes. That’s a lot of jelly!

So much hard work put into this cabinet! Such a fulfilling task. Growing the veggies, preserving them and placing them neatly on the shelves. 😌😌

4/22/24 ~ got 2 cuttings of muscadine from school to propagate. I read how I can still do it this time of year as long as I clipped soft limbs with at least 4 nodes - so we shall see how it turns out! 👩🔬🧪🌱

Hey, Bel! So there’s a good chance I might move out of my current neighborhood, and I’m feeling a little nervous. Got any suggestions on how to get rid of stress?
Well, sometimes change can be a good thing! Think of it as, like, a new chapter of your life. As for stress relief and stuff, what I do personally is light a lavender scented candle and do some activities like color in a coloring book. They have some adult coloring books that are super intricate, but honestly I prefer the cartoon ones WAY more because they're just SOOOO cute!! 🥺🩵
