I finally finished Bugsnax

#I know Grumpus Bean has a unique tag but I don't remember what it is and I think I was gonna change their last name #so new tag time #OC: Bean (grumpus)#that'll do for now #but yes I am like three years late #mainly bc my old pc lagged to all hell and then I never redownloaded it on my new one until like yesterday #well I actually had to repurchase it for steam bc I was not gonna get that epic games launcher just for bugsnax but no big #although for some reason the game still lags but only when I am in snaxburg so the last quest was extra stressful! fighting a hoard at 2fps #I did know what was gonna happen bc I'd watched the ending #but still! it's a different experience to actually play than just watching someone who is also talking over most of it #and they didn't do most of the sidequests nor any of the DLC (tho I watched it before the DLC so they could not have ljksdgfkj)#so that was all new to me!!!#there's so many fuckin quests but I did them all!!!#except like two of them and catching that fast little coffee bastard #I will probably return to do that but for now I have to draw or I will explode #we will return to PT things but don't mind if I have snax on the brain for a bit #I have some funny moments I want to draw

I've tried to run BG2 again (I need to finish my modded playthrough) and my laptop is in such a bad state it prectically lags BG2. BG2, which could be run on a determined microwave, on a laptop that has 8GB of RAM! It is heavily used and it has a lot of apps, but I've uninstalled everything I didn't use and cleaned the registry awhile ago. I suspected the antivirus, but the system manager shows it actually doesn't consume a lot of resources. It's not the disk space, since it's got plenty. It turns out it uses 100% of its disk all the time, and the main culprits seems to be.... *drum roll* system and Windows telemetry service! I now have to spend the evening elbows deep in frankly confusing system settings to find a way to turn the telemetry service off, and it may or may not improve the situation.

Once I finish this playthough, I'm definitely switching the laptop to Unix.

#personal #you know I'm annoyed by the number of completely useless apps win10 runs in the background #I don't need 5 processes of edge I really don't!#I don't need windows game overlay #or a separate service to launch office in one-click #also kudos to the designers for splitying settings into 3 different apps!#I've disabled animations and everything and it didn't improve things at all unfortunately #I don't want to reinstall the system just yet bc mods are easily messed up during reinstalls #but I bet. that this dying laptop will suddenly run like gold on unix #my old work pc did and it was two times weaker than this one in every possible aspect #thankfully I have a better computer now but it still annoys me to have a laptop I just can't use bc it effectively boots for 15 minutes #and lags afterwards #I don't know if it's planned obsolence or something #but I put a lot of energy in the maintenance of this laptop and I'm losing patience #if it is planned obsolence #then... well. I'm not going to buy a newer presumably more resource intensive system #for a laptop that wheezes in effort under an older one #oh no #If they make their product unusable I'll just cease to use it #I've got another pc on windows anyway

Have you ever thought that if you have trouble running an online game it may be because of your internet or your pc specs? Just a thought

#my friend asking me if i have trouble running Paladins #me playing Paladins ans having the best experience with full graphics on #it's never been smoother #and we're using the same pc #only difference is the internet #and his is better #idk how that works #i just know i have never seen the details on the maps since 2017 when i started playing #until now #i could cry of how beautiful and smooth everything looks #but also this post was about another game that i see a lot of people complain about #i even played THAT game on my phone when i was at the beach cause i needed to do dailies #my phone isnt new #yet I was able to run the gsmr in the highest graphics possible (it didnt look as good as in my pc) but i didnt have lag issues #and i even used data cause no wifi at beach #and it didnt eat my data like other games (im looking at you tears of themis why tf do u need so much data for!?)#zey rants

number 4: try to play killer with bad wifi AND while mmr cap is altered so good killer players (me) are primarily playing against good survivors (usually swfs)

#thoughts about media #man I want to play dbd SO BAD.#I've not been able to play since reset because my PC had issues and now the internet is struggling.#I don't care about hitting iri 1. I just want to progress the rift!!!!#and boy does it grate on my nerves to go against players I KNOW I could beat. but lose bc lag.#it keeps stopping me for periods of several seconds.#if you play dbd you know that losing even 3 seconds of time is a fucking disaster.#because that's all it takes. one mistake. and the whole game will go in the other side's turn.#especially if you're the killer. and especially if you're playing against swfs with even mediocre skill level.#like am I glad to have learned that. yes. I am high mmr and therefore good at both hux & ghostface? eeeyes.#I have self confidence issues. Of course the affirmation is nice.#but does learning this in the most blood boiling. skin tearing. teeth gnashing way possible piss me off a bit? also yes.#am I ultimately angry about losing though? no.#my priority is the rift and completing it so I get the exclusives & earn back the currency I used to pay for it.#I'm going to have to grind the bloody rift when this internet issue resolves itself.#it is doable within like. a week. i'd wager. but ugh that is a lot of gameplay nonetheless. to go from tier 35 to tier 83.#ah. the joys of living in the middle of fucking nowhere.

finally bought a pc because my laptop really can't handle this many hours of work a day ;; no more burning my fingers with the keyboard ueeeeee

Bro... what happened to my copy of OMORI...

WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE THAT??? I use 2x Resolution, Windowed mode (I have a fear of putting anything in fullscreen). And the last time I played the game, it did not look like that. It looked like that when I booted it up and thought loading a random save might fix it maybe but no.

This ^^^ is an old screenshot from last time I played where there's no unnecessary black void wasting space.

SO WHAT HAPPENED TO IT NOW??? THERE'S A VOID EVERYWHERE! I didn't touch this game for nearly a year bro, I also didn't touch any of my Steam settings so what the fuck is that.

#aria rants #i was thinking of finally revisiting OMORI but i aint playing this game like that bro. the black borders aint even balanced ugh...#its also either that horrendous looking thing or 1x res which is the tiniest lil box i aint playing with smth as tiny as that #also the reason why i have a fear of putting anything in fullscreen is that in the past we had a different pc #it bluescreened once while i was playing osu! and bluescreened another time while i was watching a vid on fullscreen #and no matter what game or even just a youtube video. the moment i put it on fullscreen itll start lagging and freeze for a bit #and i just start praying that itll recover long enough for me to get the thing off fullscreen so i wont have to ctrl alt del #all bad things happening whenever i play or watch smth in fullscreen that i just have a slight trauma of it #so i never play a game or watch a vid on fullscreen at all even in this current pc #cuz ngl even if i had to put smth in fullscreen for a bit my heartrate just shoots up so much id be scrambling to get it windowed #tbf i think our old pc is alrdy gettin in on its years when it started getting problems but the absolute horror it gave me when #it bluescreened for the first time and it just kept going downhill will never leave my mind.#it was also the first time i saw a pc actually bluescreen. it aint even instant. there were glitchy colourful lines appearing #and i couldnt move my mouse. ctrl alt del didnt work either. the lines kept increasing. panicked so hard i called my sister #i dont remember what happened after. dunno if the pc blacked out entirely to show a bluescreen after or if it showed before blackin out #so anyway our old pc gave me some insane pc trauma that i still fear fullscreen to this day

alright hot take: people are way too outraged about the rdr1 port. like yeah $50 isn't Great but good god i don't see y'all demanding ppl boycott skyrim anniversary edition on switch which is like 80 dollars now if you buy skyrim on switch it was 60 dollars and to upgrade to anniversary edition it's another 20. where's the half hour DON'T BUY THIS GAME rants for that.

Is it just me or is the achievement "Der Freischutz", aka "shoot a monster's weak point from very far away", impossible to get playing mobile

I've been pretty exclusively playing mobile because I frankly don't have a computer that can render the game without complete and utter lag, but I've been trying to get this achievement for like two days now in various different locations using various techniques because it was the last one of that set I needed, and it really was impossible

Like I was hitting the weak points from as far as it would render the monsters before they just disappeared and I still wasn't getting it

I tried poking around in the settings to see if it was possible to get them to render the monsters a bit farther away and I couldn't find any setting that made an impact on that, and I hadn't turned my settings down or anything I was still working at default

So anyway, today I finally downloaded it on my computer, went to the exact same location I had been trying, got it in two shots even with the excessive lag

I took pictures for comparison purposes

That's exactly where I was standing when I got the achievement, the red dot was what I was shooting at, and the yellow circle next to the tree was where I'd have to be standing in order to see the exact same monster on mobile

And here's a picture of me standing in that yellow circle area, if I moved even a step back that monster in the red circle would have disappeared completely, the ones on the higher platforms already had

It just doesn't really make sense for a game that kind of markets itself as mobile centered to have an achievement you can't get while playing that version—

#genshin impact #I was getting so frustrated over it too #I didn't think they would make an achievement so difficult to get and it looks like I was half right #Has anybody actually been able to get that on mobile?#One of my theories is that it was a working achievement in the earlier game back when they didn't have as much content to render #But that was pulled back to fix loading issues #But I swear I couldn't find anything that seemed to affect render distance in the settings #No way in hell I could ever play it on pc though #I almost died like three times getting to that location #I'll blame it on the fact that I was using a track pad and the game was just lagging excessively #Definitely not a skill issue—

im starting my 5 day mental preparation program for starting patho 2 again this weekend

#yknow when like 2 years ago or something i had just gotten to the part where the inquisitor comes to town #but then the ps4 gave me irrepairable damage to my brain and spirit by chugging and crashing the game even more than it already did #maybe this time my immunity wont be gone immediately bc loading screens took 10 seconds and froze my controls #but the immunity still kept going down while it loaded 💀💀💀💀💀💀#oh no now talking more abt it is giving me war flashbacks and making me lose enthusiasm to play it again HDJFKDJDJ #no but rlly its such a cool game and im rlly looking forward to playing it in a playable state #and its one i think everyone should play. but its SO inaccessible #you need a very high end pc or. well i havent played it on the ps5 but the ps4 is not enough #like i said i got to over the half way point on the ps4 t and yes it was hell bc of the lag and frame drops and the amount of #extra items you had to use bc of the lag but then i had to stop bc at the same point on that day it crashed everytime i reached it again #which was frustrating bc i had finally gotten to the point that artemy wasnt starving 24/7 despite eating 4 2-course meals a day LMAO #but yeah starting it again is so daunting bc of the reputation of the game of course #but i need to keep reminding myself that the gameplay wasnt THAT difficult like at the end of the day i got through it and wasnt stressed #but that the thing that made me rip my hair out was the lag and the crashes leading to lost progress #which hopefully will be fixed when i play on the ps5!#i just finally after such a long time got the desire to play it again and i have to use it while i can
