I participated the Renegade Bindery's "Tiny Book bind-along" workshop and crafted two little cuties.
First time creating books this tiny, I learned a lot! I can't wait to make more of these fellas.

Paperbacks!
I had some brown packing paper I took from work (we get deliveries every day and everything is wrapped in this sturdy brown paper inside the parcels, and it seemed a water to throw away) as well as some thin board that actually came with an IKEA furniture delivery, the board was layered between components in the box. I decided to try to turn those things into a paperback but hadn’t really thought through how to do it so the first one I made (last weekend) came out a little wonky and for some reason I’d done the turn ins after casing in…it doesn’t look very neat.
But the concept works so I went back to it this weekend and did two more, this time printing titles and a spine symbol on the paper first.
Lookit my very nice breakaway spines in action! Also bonus photo of inside the spine because I used book cloth offcuts to reinforce the spine (instead of paper strips) as I thought the more flexible material would work better.
fics are:
Dean + Cas 4Ever by tuesday (spn, destiel)
A Beginner’s Guide To The Dangers Of Making Out With Your Fellow Athletes At Parties by ineptshieldmaid (yuri on ice, yuri/otabek)
we’re all in the mood for a melody (and you’ve got us feeling alright) by laughtershock (skyfall, 00Q)

All my life I grew up knowing that I sucked at crafts. A year and a half ago I decided to learn how to bind so I could have physical copies of my favourite fics.
This is the first fic book I made then. It contains two fics of different authors: KalinaLea and Textual Sphinx. Both were writers from the first era of my fandom, back in the early 2000s.
I bind it as a journal book, because the stories contained that idea, but also to signify my journey as a fic reader. It didn't look fantastic, but I'm very fond of it.
I'm still not very good at binding, if I compare myself to some of the amazing fics binders out there. However, I've learned a lot of things:
That everything is possible to be learned.
That I have in my workshop a space for myself, where anxiousness doesn't enter.
That one progresses at one's own pace, that mistakes are made and that that is not tragedy.

Trillium and Ivy by @shastafirecracker
Nick Wolfwood is the new director of Conrad-Chapel Funeral Home in May City, located across the street from Saverem Greenhouse & Landscaping. Over time, the owner, Vash, gets to know Nick and introduces him to the rest of the neighborhood, including local busybodies and married feminist bookshop owners Meryl and Milly. Vash and Nick are inexorably drawn to each other until they have to start admitting their feelings.
But Vash's brother, co-owner of the garden center, hasn't left his past as far behind as the twins had hoped when they started their lives over in May.
I love this fic, and I love this book even if it endeavoured to kick my ass the entirety of its binding!!! From realising I had run out of board, to consistent laptop and printer issues and going back and forth on the paper and color choices…..but I loved how it ended up! I also ended up watching the entirety of the Trigun dub again while binding this, as well as all of the dub Stampede episodes lol.
Also!!! Check out the most perfect font I found for the headers!!! All the text conversations have also been transcribed into actual text as well - even if I wasn’t able to print them in color🥲
I have plans further down the line to bind the rest of this series, hence the ‘1’ on the spine, but I have a few other fics on the list above it, including but not limited to a bunch of DE fics and possibly some Yakuza stuff? Also Demon Slayer, and BrownieFox’s Detours, which is shaping up to be a monster of a binding.
And of course as usual, the best quote of all time for the wonderful Vashwood pairing, hidden on the book cover💜

Au where Hollow and Ghost survive and then SILKSONG happens but- hear me out, hear me out-
Hornet was so, so young when the infection destroyed Hallownest. All her abilities in silk are derived from violence and hunting— unlike her weaver brethren, she never delved deep into the arts or healing beyond the basics to survive the destroyed husk of the kingdom.
This has direct consequences when Hollow survives in HK. Despite Hornet’s best attempts, Hollow’s wounds don’t heal quite right.
Hornet can’t forgive herself, never mind the insane reality she managed to save a voided godling from the brink.
(When Pharloom steals her, when she realizes there’s a history of thread, where she can learn how to spin silk maybe to heal-
-at the terrible cost of herself to save people she loves?
Hornet’s never been great about self preservation. All her life, she’s watched other people throw themselves into the abyss.
Now it’s her turn.)
Alas. Her siblings do not agree with that mindset. And they’re going to get their sister back, hell or high water.
ANYWAYS SOME OTHER DOODLES
Here’s more of this au if people wanna see!

On the idea of Theseus's Ship: in the end, it's still his, isn't it?
It was known as Theseus's, and it will continue to be known as Theseus's.
Even after he has returned to the ground which grew the wood of the hammer used to nail the ship's frame,
Even after generations of new wood have rotted and the sails are rags clinging to threads,
Even after millennia,
it will still be Theseus's Ship.
Goodnight, Phosphophyllite.

Sage by Lady Rhian. This fic was written almost immediately after Deathly Hallows. I read it at the time and wanted to have a copy in my library. 16 years later I bind it :D
I added a monogram on the spine with Hermione and Snape's initials. I'll start doing that with all the ships from the fics I bind. Placed the author's name on the cover, unfortunately, it lacked contrast.
Cover: Homemade book cloth made with cotton cloth; PVA-coated paper. HTV for titles.
Body: Cream bond paper of 90 grams. Sage leaves font for titles and Drop Caps. Garamond family for the body. 10 signatures with French stitching.

MISERY LOVES ITS COMPANY • @mademoisellebianx
“Back in the bedroom, I told you the story of the mongoose and the snake. Ring any bells? (…) What d'ya think? How can those two wretched animals co-exist in one burrow?”
After a series of unfortunate events, Clancy Jarvis decides to accept a cameraman job offer for his friend's ghost-hunting docuseries. However, this decision proves to be the worst one he's ever made when he and his new colleagues find themselves venturing into the Bakers' haunted mansion in Dulvey, Louisiana. He soon becomes the sole survivor of the group and is then turned into an unwilling captive of the crazy family that lived there. Clancy is determined to survive whatever horrors he is forced to face but little did he know that he's piqued the curiosity and interest of a genius sociopath hell-bent on keeping him there with him.
Here it is!!!! This is the big one that I’ve been planning out in the back of my mind since I first heard of bookbinding. I originally formatted this out ages ago as the first bind I wanted to do, before deciding that I didn’t have the skills nor experience (or a color printer😅) to this give work the proper treatment it deserved, but now I’m able to give you the double whammy of the Mongoose and Snake Editions to match our two main characters, Clancy and Lucas. Please, please, please go check this out, it was an absolute joy to beta this fic and go give the incredible Bianx some love! She was kind enough to put up with my horrible end of year schedule and my slow ass editing towards the end of this fic, so please go give her all the compliments she deserves!! You can also see all the amazing art she commissioned that made its way into this binding on her page too! Also, check out the incredible @zhalfirin who’s Brelik poems binding was the inspiration for this cover. And don’t worry, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled Disco bindings in no time😆✌🏻
