I have no one else to rant to so I’m gonna just drop this here. If you don’t particularly care for LarPhee/Museum Dads, go on ahead and scroll 👌
You know we specialize in crack here. If that’s not for you, that’s completely ok.
Anyhow, I’ve just been thinking about them and their dynamic. More so with headcanons than anything.
Larry and McPhee are much more similar than one might think. I believe they’ve both experienced the same type of loneliness and abandonment in their life. Larry more so than McPhee, but I think I could make an argument for him as well. (Bc it’s quite clear that hes affected from Larry leaving the museum in the second movie. He literally seems jealous of a monkey, which I find hilarious. That might not be the case, but it’s funnier to think about it that way. There’s also this deleted scene in the third film where Leslie quite literally hugs Larry.)
Though, I believe that they go around treating their abandonment issues in two different ways. Larry has the instilled belief that people are going to leave him sooner or later. I mean, why shouldn’t he? Not has he lost most of his love interests, but as well as his family at the end of the third film. There could be argument that’s why people are driven away from him (at least romantically) but I think this idea is more so taken into play by the end of the third film. So he just goes around and acts like they’re going to leave.
Meanwhile McPhee is a little different. He does have the same idea in mind, but he goes around it in a different way. Instead of accepting that people will leave him, he constantly pushes people away before they can do it themselves. Why else is he so harsh? Aside from the wellbeing of the museum, of course. He’s cold because the world has been cold to him. And if we go into my crack headcanon that Dominic Badguy is his brother, that does not help with the fact that he must feel like he’s in a state of danger.
But! But but but, this where I believe the two could help each other. It’s clear that the two of them have severe issues they need to work through, but why not together? The two of them could learn together that neither of them are the problem. That they do deserved to be loved! Whether it be by one another or the people around them.
This is what makes them so interesting to me, in my opinion. They’re clearly damaged and heartbroken people who could rebuild upon each other. And truly, I find that beautiful.

also. amber gris as a character is really important to me as an appalachian.
not just her accent or the specific type of person justin based her off of but like
the feeling of losing someone to addiction/overdose while the government does nothing to help, just criminalizes and stigmatizes and makes things worse. which obviously happens in more places than just around here, but we have one of the highest rates of overdose death in the whole country and that whole set of scenes felt like they were really informed by growing up around that
#eliot posts#taz#taz ethersea#the adventure zone#amber gris#drugs cw#death mention#i've made posts like this and deleted them cuz i never feel like i'm wording it just right but just. god.#i'm lucky enough to have never been addicted or to have a best friend or immediate family member die from it#but i've lost or nearly lost extended family to it#and it's like.#my own accent isn't that thick and neither is my immediate family's or best friends'#but i've known ppl who talked like her.#specifically a man named larry who lived with us when we were real young#for some reason especially the way amber says ''come on'' just always reminds me so strongly of larry's voice. he said that phrase a lot#he was the one who taught me to tie my shoes even after my parents lost patience with me for being 'too old' to not understand#he drank excessively like my dad did but he never got mean with us kids#he came and went a few times over the years. the final time he left was when i was in late elementary#he died of an overdose when i was in high school. i didn't feel much of anything at the time.#it had been so long since i'd seen him but also i was at a point in my life where i'd've been numb to big emotions like that anyway#so my parents got drunk about it and i did nothing. just went to school and shit as usual.#i did not expect those feelings to get dredged up by a goddamned comedy dnd podcast#but they did it well i think#even though i had to pause it to take a breather multiple times. i enjoyed it overall. cathartic i guess?

Big fan of the trope where there’s a big enough age gap between the oldest and the youngest sibling that the youngest sees their oldest sibling as a second parent. It’s a bonus if there’s a whole storyline where they’re all being raised by one parent due to a dead or absent partner so the oldest steps up to help a lot. I love when it shows a lot of angst but it’s brilliant when it’s used in comedy.
Please recommend any shows, movies, games or books with this trope if you can please!

Pact commander who has spent years building up a series of normal and measured responses to situations in his head but overthinks it all anyway. You cannot tell he does this. Will curl up on the floor and shrivel if he feels like he isn't being useful to someone 24/7. Great with kids and huge swords, though.

Hello! I was just looking through your blog and even though you’ve just started doing classpects, I really loved reading through your Heir of Doom analysis. It was really well done! I was hoping if you could do an analysis on the Knight of Life along with personality and land? I’d really appreciate it!!
The Knight of Life [symbols: shield, vines]
The Knight class has its basis in the classic knight from Arthurian legend. An example would be Lancelot.
The Life aspect’s main theme is growth. You can find its official description here.
A Knight of Life is among those who use energy to influence. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Knight, Page, Thief, and Rogue of Life/Doom. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that use the Life/Doom dichotomy (energy to influence). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.
The Knight of Life actively utilizes the Life aspect. Active classes tell themselves what to do and do so for their own benefit. They are more likely to stand up for themselves, but more likely to be cruel. Knights and Pages use their aspect and everything it symbolizes as a tool. Simplified, the Knight of Life is motivated by themselves to utilize growth.
In personality, the Knight of Life puts on a front to hide an insecurity and keeps trying even if they fail. Personality descriptions can be found here.
Their archetype is the Defender Child, defined by guarded growth. Archetypes are explained here.
Their opposite is the Page of Doom, who passively utilizes caution.
Their inverse is the Rogue of Doom, who passively steals caution.
A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.
This means that the Knight of Life begins life motivated by others to steal caution. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead utilizing growth for themselves. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to utilize the Life aspect actively, in a positive way.
They share their archetype with the Heir of Doom, the Child Defender.
The Knight of Life would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Haze [Knight] and Life [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Mist and Wildflowers. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.
Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Hebe (Goddess of Youth) or Asclepius (God of Medicine). Other Life aspect denizens can be found here.
When the Knight of Life completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of butterflies (symbols of pollination). A list of soul animals can be found here.
The characters that I have currently classpected as Knights of Life are: Aveline Vallen from Dragon Age, Delrin Barris from Dragon Age, Preston Garvey from Fallout 4, Larry Daley from Night at the Museum, Orisa from Overwatch, Applejack from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Dad Egbert from Homestuck.
If any of the links not connected to my blog break, the content can be found on my Google Drive.

I think those who have followed my blog or looked through its contents would know I'm a whore for dads with kids. Fankids especially, if they don't have them.
So, here's Larry's young daughter Laura from WhippedLuna's Plaindoughnutshipping fic "Anything But Ordinary", in the hopes they like it! ^^; The academy she goes to was deliberately made ambiguous, so I did both so you can decide which one for yourself.
