I have to share a soft experience about my dad.

A while back I told him about the whole "at some point your parents picked you up, set you down, and never picked you back up ever again" thing. He took great issue with the concept. He now goes to the gym at age 63 and finds any excuse to pick me, a 25-year-old, up.

Just now, he needed to get a cooler down from atop a tall fridge, near the ceiling. He called me over and picked me up by the legs so I could pull it down for him. He then made sure to point out that the last time he picked me up was today.

This man. He's an awesome dad. (...Even if his jokes do suck.)

so,yesterday i was unusually quiet and was basically like a monk who took a vow of silence in the car.as we pull up to the garden center,my dad says "so,tell me about hamilton."i say "what about it?"he says like "where did you find it?"i respond "internet."

then in an attempt to connect with his teenage daughter he asked "whats it about?"i say "founding fathers"to which he responds "give me a bit more detail than that."

i proceed to talk his ear off for an hour,explaining the characters and the plot and the music and the setting track by track.you'd swear that i had drank seventeen,se-se-seventeen,se-se-seveteen,1789 iced coffees.

This is my dad and he could really use help. I’m trying my best but we love ten hours away with two little ones.

Feels weird asking strangers on the internet for help but whatever you can give, prayers, donations, or well wishes mean every thing.

He took me in when I was an awful bratty preteen and stuck out all the mood swings and hatred I flung at him. He didn’t have to. His kids were grown but he took me in and my siblings and made sure we had everything we need even if he had to go without. He has shown the world so much kindness I hope it can show him some.

Just last august they drove so far so they could give my babies the best birthday ever. He won them so many tickets playing ski ball.

Someone in one of my classes mentions that Saw the Musical is in my area, I bring this up to Dad, and the next thing I know he’s already bought tickets.

Keep in mind I’ve never seen the movies because the gore is too much even for me.

I’m always a fan of theater gore though, so this will most certainly be fun!
