So, for all the time that I've listened to Sleep Token (been a hot minute now, jeeze) there have been three songs that I have avoided like the plague; Atlantic, Fall for Me and Missing Limbs. I haven't been avoiding them because they're bad, not at all, but because the first time I listened to them, they brought out a Hell of a lot for me. Never in my life had I had a song, let alone three, do that to me, so, I avoided them. Distraction and WTBB cause me enough pain, and these three inch out of the boundary for songs that just push me over the edge.

Even when I did my massive SFX post, I kind of zoned out when I listened to them, mainly focusing on little sounds rather than lyrics and breakdowns. In a weird way I dreaded listening to them again just because. Plus, one of my first ST posts on here is a clip of Fall for Me, which I heard, had to sit down for a minute at, posted it, and refused to look at again (bear with me here I know I'm sounding disastrously dramatic and overly sensitive).

So, today, I decided to take a little re-listen. And Christ Almighty I need a minute. Atlantic had my lying down on my floor having to take a moment, Fall for Me took me right back to one of my first relationships and Missing Limbs had me contemplating how I've loved and been loved. What the fuck man. You all will definitely be getting a little lyric analysis soon, but, here are some of my favourites so far;

Just finished Rings of Power and there’s a lot I can say. Liked some of it. Disliked some of it. It got me back into Middle-Earth (like I ever really left, some part of me is always there, but like the Star Wars sequel trilogy (which I despise with no remorse) it kind of revived general interest and gave me something new to see in a world I love so much) so I am inclined to give it a chance but overall a mixed bag. I love the books, I love the movies, there was some stuff that should definitely have been changed (or left out) in the series but other than that I liked it. (And if you disagree, good for you)

But what got me in the finale was the misunderstanding. Those cult... lady... things- whatever they are. Them mistaking the Istar for Sauron. That is fucking gold. If he ever finds out what they did he is going to be so offended. The very idea that he, Sauron, would look like a bedraggled, bearded hermit. The gall. The insult. He is Sauron! The bitch who gave himself so many pretty names because everyone else called him Mr Stinky. The right-hand Maia to Morgoth himself. He may not have shown himself in the guise of Annatar in the show (something I mourn because I would dearly like to see a live-action slutty twink Sauron helping poor flustered Celebrimbor make the rings before using him as a banner) but Halbrand is an attractive human form. If there’s one thing Sauron values, it is his own vanity.

And they thought he was the hermit in rags.

went back to my second home for a few days, ate my way around the city, had dinner with one of my oldest friends who i met on tumblr.com ten entire years ago, met one of the squad and ate bitterballen after discussing it for weeks, it's been so fucking perfect, i won't be leaving it so long again.

it's pretty interesting how marvin's defining characteristics in pop culture are the blowing up earth to see venus motivation and 'where's the kaboom' "catchphrase", both things that come from and occur only once in his very penultimate appearance of the golden age era. but in addition to that, are more associated with his initial green/red design, not the gold/green palette actually used for those final two shorts.

what Does also contain that green/red design is duck dodgers and the 24th 1/2 century, one of the two marvin shorts included in the bugs bunny/road runner compilation movie, which also named him and uses a new illustration with the "classic" palette, and I'm guessing that's what embedded those elements into newer generations' public perception and later marketing. I dunno I just think seeing what factors are picked up most by pop culture surrounding classic media is neat!!
