That said, would you be willing to give early consideration to Michael Bowman's solo album, "Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido?" It's got the rather dubious honor of being one of only two or three official albums (out of like 30!) to NOT see any rep in the comic at all and I'd hate for you to miss out.

Found it on the Collection! It's generally a very chill album, with a lot of lower-energy tracks that might have been hard to fit in one of Homestuck's high-octane Flash animations.

It's not really my type of music, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate something different every once in a while! I think my personal favorite is Dawn of Man.

Actually a very good point. We eventually learned that Jade was in contact with the White Queen, so she was doing some in-person socialization. Clearly, that mattered a lot more than I realized.

However, the wording you use here comes close to fixing that issue. Davesprite's timeline could never fulfil the time loop created by John's Veil cloning - but it still contributed to the Alpha Timeline, via Davesprite. Maybe a timeline only fades once it can no longer contribute to the Alpha in any way whatsoever.

Serial designation V psychological analysis

Let’s start with this.

From the pilot, the first and clearest introduction we have of V is as a cold-blooded killer, which leads us to draw several conclusions:

• she DON'T feel guilt or other emotions for being practically a psychopath, right?

• Pretending (and perhaps overacting) not to know N.

• She’s sexy—wait, what?

If there’s one thing I can say with my eyes closed, it’s that V’s personality throughout the series (at least until episode six) is a defense mechanism. Having suffered firsthand the atrocities of AS, V had to find a way to stay sane and assured herself that it didn’t hurt to make N suffer, that it didn’t hurt to be a complete bitch to the people around her, and that it didn’t hurt to kill people.

(That last one is a given; what did you expect? You can’t ask for moral consequences for murder; we’re in Murder Drones.)

A haughty, playful personality that is, to some extent, easy to anger. I don’t deny that many of these traits may have developed over time, but most are tropes that hide what’s really inside—a traumatized girl who lost everything and was turned into a killing machine.

(Some might say that I justify V’s actions when it comes to killing, and yes, I do; number 1, we’re in MD, and number 2, she’s my favorite character. What did you expect?)

To some extent, her diva complex hides insecurities (???)

The point is that this girl hardened herself, sharpened her teeth and claws, and did what she had to do to survive—from killing random workers, beheading N in cold blood, to manipulating a teenager and pretending to be her best friend to kill everyone (can we talk about how in "The Promening," V tried to negotiate with N and keep Uzi alive?)

A little extra note: rewatching the series for this summary, I can notice that V still retains some behaviors from her previous self, like when she blows bubbles or when at the end of "Cabin Fever," she smiles upon seeing Uzi with N.

In a way, I can assure you that V is simply TERRIFIED—terrified of herself, terrified of what they are now, and of Uzi, of Cyn.

Disorders:

Perhaps (with the risk of being wrong) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

We have several clues about this, like when in "Cabin Fever," she calls Uzi "Cyn."

That’s a detail we’ll discuss later.

Besides that, she’s always on alert and has her claws ready for any danger that may arise (another symptom of PTSD), and her aversion towards Uzi because when she sees her, she doesn’t see Uzi.

She sees Cyn...

People who ship VxN (sorry, I’m not a fan of the ship, but I don’t judge; I’ll try to give my opinion without it sounding like a criticism) always argue that V feels jealous of Uzi. But you know? I... don’t see it that way, at least not completely. I think V does feel jealousy, but more than romantic jealousy, it’s more of a necessary attachment feeling. Let me explain:

Let’s remember that J is dead, so if we add 2 + 2, we can understand what’s happening here: V is ALONE and the only "functional" support network she has left is N and only him.

And also when she tries to keep Uzi away from N because deep down, her clearest thought was that they were going to end up hurting each other, or Uzi would hurt N and the guilt could lead her to suicide, or N would have to kill Uzi if Cyn took over her body.

This is why she clings to him with teeth and claws, and this gradually gets better as the series progresses. Evidence of this is in episode 6 when she sees N holding hands with Uzi and her only reaction is "agh" (How I love episode six!!!)

I’ve already talked more in-depth about the climax of episode six, which is a key moment for the character; if you want to go see it, I’ll leave it at the end of this post.

My theory of post-traumatic stress increases with chapter 8 when we see the true V for the first time—someone damaged, scared of all the damn traumas she carries, who has had to endure practically alone all the atrocities that Cyn committed at her expense, and above all, that what she did, she did for N (I have some issues with this chapter, but let’s ignore that for now).

This is where I cry because we realize that V had hope that—after doing her job, Cyn would leave them alone—she had faith of being free, and it could not bring me more satisfaction to know that (unlike J) she could find her freedom by ending what bound her, accepting her traumas, and fighting against them (literally), and finally finding a new life with the other two idiots.

The only people who, despite what she has done and her flaws, accepted and loved her.

To wrap up, I want to clarify something:

V IS somewhat psychopathic.

V DOES kill in cold blood.

V IS a diva.

But V is not just that; she is a complex character with layers and nuances and a girl who has suffered the atrocities of a pompous being who treats them as toys. I don’t expect to encompass all the psychology of the character in this summary (because I’m not a psychologist), but I hope I’ve done some justice for my favorite character UwU.

[Conclusion]

The truth is that I’m a bit saddened by V’s development. It’s not bad development by any means, but the potential she had was somewhat cut short due to the limited screen time. Although honestly, Liam is a fucking genius who managed to package such a beautiful series into eight episodes.

Thank you, Murder Drones; thank you for informing me, for allowing me to draw my lesbian ships, for making me laugh so many times and bringing me to tears so easily, thank you for the two years I spent alternating between making theories at three in the morning and waiting for the episodes, having to save money just to be able to download the episodes and download all the possible fanarts on Pinterest. You’ve been diagnosed with anemia for years (not just assuming you have it and tossing the condition around like its a character trait🙄) Moving on.....

It’s more complex than just low iron levels in your case; you are literally fighting for your life since you lack blood cells. It messes up everything in some way shape or fashion.

For example 👀 Your heart needs blood and oxygen to function. No surprise it decides to stop working when its starved of those two key ingredients and its aggravated by heat.

As a result, you’re constantly sleepy/weak and Joker pokes fun at you for falling asleep mid conversation or during simple tasks.

You can't help it! You have limited energy and to compensate, you take lots of naps. One every day that last at least two hours although you can sleep for much longer.

(Chaos once slept for an entire day much to my family's horror. Back to the hc!)

Joker thinks its cute when you curl up somewhere and crash for hours at a time. All you need is a blanket and a cool environment and its a wrap. An earthquake couldn't wake you.

Joker loves to find you fast asleep because he can join you and be as clingy as he wants. Nap dates are 100% a thing in this relationship and they happen anytime, anywhere.

Since you're so weak, you need a strong protector. Joker turns you into a blanket burrito and then holds you like his personal teddy bear. Remember Joker walking into his meeting with you in his arms from No Disrespect? Same concept anon.

And let's not talk about how your anemia affects your menstrual cycle. Let's just not. Bottom line, you run the risk of being admitted to the hospital it’s that bad. True story. 👀

You had no reason to tell Joker about your medical conditions because HIPAA is a thing so he's completely unaware that you have severe anemia.

You have an extensive jacket and blanket collection and you wear hoodies year round. It makes for an odd sight in the summer.

Your hands are always cold to the touch and Joker asks if you're related to Mr. Fries. 🙄❄ J jumps in shock when you touch him unexpectedly they're that cold.

Joker loves to "warm up his Bunny" (I hc Joker running like a furnace so he is the perfect boyfriend if you're anemic!)

You forgot your jacket? Joker pulls you in for a hug. Too cold at night? Hehe well.... 😏

Joker doesn't like when you space out. You get this glassy look in your eye and it takes you a while to come after he calls your name multiple times. You just mentally check out.

That's your body not having enough blood cells to carry oxygen to your brain. You literally do a Windows shutdown before coming back online with a slurred "huh?"

You reassure Joker that you're fine but he's not convinced. 👀

You hate the summer. Period.

Joker thought since you're always cold, the warm temp would be perfect, but you refuse to go out if the weather is higher than 88 degrees.

Joker finds out why extreme heat + anemic!Y/n = disaster the hard way.

Joker dragged you out of the apartment to an outdoor event claiming that you needed some 'sun.'

You would enjoy the event were it not a record breaking 99 degrees outside. You are short of breath but Joker is having fun so you grin and suffer in silence.

The first hour is okay, your Fitbit doesn't send you any health alerts. However your condition can happen suddenly and without warning. Its only a matter of time before you go tap out.

One second your laughing at something Joker said, the next, you skip the lightheaded phase and enter the dangerous cardiac stage of your condition.

Joker's voice sounds fathoms away and the loud festival becomes background noise as your heart fails. Your smart watch is beeping like crazy and the sound of it steals Joker's attention away from scanning the crowd for threats.

You have that spaced out look that he doesn't like.

"Bunny?" Joker's own heart skips a beat when your eyes roll back and you faint into his arms.

People nearby scream at the sight and Joker was left in a pickle. Yes, he wants to get you medical attention, but he can't draw too much attention to himself while doing so. Every second is precious and he tries to keep a level head to think of what to do.

Thankfully the local EMTs have personnel nearby for these types of emergencies and they rush over. Poor Joker is pushed to the side as the professionals notice your medical bracelet and get to work.

Joker tried to remain calm as they shock your heart and then start an IV on you.

He shivers feeling the AC being pumped into the medical building onsite. You would love the cool temperature if only you were awake. What was wrong with his Light?

Did someone poison you while he wasn't watching? Were you sick and he hadn't noticed? Nothing was making any sense to him.

"You her spouse?"

Joker blinked in shock at the random question being asked. The EMT repeated the question until Joker nodded along.

Joker looked the part so the medic continued along.

"Okay... well she had another vasovagal syncope episode. You know the drill. Dehydration, her anemia upsets her heart and add in the extreme heat; here we are. We gave Y/n her normal cocktail of vitamins before she suffered an actual heart attack, but I suggest taking her home out of the heat and keep an eye on her. She'll be drowsy for the next few hours but nothing she's not used to. If she starts to regress, call 911. Uh sir? I’m not done!"

All Joker heard was heart attack before he rushed to your side.

Imagine his surprise seeing you sitting up on the medic cot, cracking jokes with the field nurse. You were fine compared to the bunny that collapsed into his arms almost two hour ago. The nurse was removing your IV line when you spotted Joker standing in the doorway.

You waved your empty juice box at him. "There's my lover boy! Look, they gave me orange juice!"

You have some explaining to do when he gets you home. There's no way this is normal to you.

I saw your post about art fight (and by the way congrats and I'm impressed by the amount of pieces you've done) and you mentioned drawing furries. I kind of never did but I want to learn, do you have any tips on drawing furries?

Hi yeah my advice is to have an older brother tell you what furries are at the age of 8 and then get completely obsessed with drawing anthropomorphic characters until the age of 18, so if you missed out on that I'm sorry. /j

Anyway, my actual advice is to get used to drawing animals in general. If you already know how to draw humans then you've already done most of the work when it comes to furries, if not thats ok you can learn as you go! I always recommend looking at other peoples work that you look up to and seeing how they do it. Learning to look and pick out shapes and features is always my best advice, it's something you learn to do as you grow but being able to pick out characteristics, shapes and all sorts of what you're looking at will massively help with your work, never be afraid to look up reference!

Simply taking the time to understand how to draw some animals can help set you up for drawing furries, you don't have to learn every single animal right off the bat, just the ones you're interested in to start off with. Once you know how to draw one or two, all the other species should become much easier to learn, or if you just wanna stick with the one species that's fine too, whatever you're happiest doing!

For example, say you wanna draw dog furries, thats fair dogs are cool! I like border collies so I'm focusing on them, look at these guys they're so fluffyyyy

Right away you can pick out some key features, the pointy ears, the medium length snout, the long fur (especially around the neck), the markings, the fluffy tail, these are all key things that make up our awesome collie dog, taking the time to practice these traits first will help you later on for drawing furries, you can practice as you go if you want but if you're starting with nothing, go basic!

Once you're comfortable with drawing animals, putting those traits onto a human shouldn't be as daunting, head goes where the head is, tail goes at the end of the spine, and fur goes all over! Obviously there are so many ways to draw furries but I'm trying to be basic to start off with! Practising with putting human emotions/traits onto animals will help a lot to refine what you're doing, your first attempts won't be pretty so don't worry about trying to make them so, they're for practice after all!

Using this as my excuse to draw my border collie SMG4 inspired OC, come look at Jay he sucks so bad, you'll never guess who he's inspired by. Again learning to mix human emotions and put them onto cartoon animal heads is hard to learn but I promise it's possible and great fun once you know how!

There's no one set of rules for furries, it's whatever you feel works best! Add and take away whatever you want, maybe you want them blue and green with horns and wings, that's totally fine! Get as creative as you want and don't be afraid to go wild, furries aren't real after all, you can do anything you want!

Furries are so expressive and unique, it's one of the many reasons I love drawing them! You can get so much diversity and variation with their design and characters, they can be as realistic or as cartoony as you want! It's always important to have fun with what you're drawing and to be okay with making mistakes, you're not going to get it first try so might as well have fun getting to a point you're happy with!

Hope my insane ramblings helped somewhat, I never know if these actually help because my advice is always just "look at reference and say "fuck it we ballin" untill it looks right", I can't teach that to anyone I have to sound like I know what I'm doing lmao

Hellooo first of all I'm so glad you asked!!! Honestly I really like sharing my perspective on stuff like this, it makes me happy. Also it's really cool that you're learning, I hope I can help at least a little by writing this!!

First things first, I have no idea why I am attracted to objects. I have always assigned personalities to things not usually seen as having personalities though, so that's probably related. In my opinion, my phone really likes J-fashion, the season fall is a creepypasta enjoyer, and the number 6 has split-dyed hair (pink and blue). I have always thought like this.

I feel that every object, every concept, every word and every number are distinct, and also really cool beings. I love everything, I respect every object. And sometimes I feel as though the thing I love and personify loves me back. That is what I consider the start of a relationship!! My specific experience with objectum relationships are written below the cut.

My phone girlfriend is named Ririka, I found the name when looking through names for an OC, and I felt like she would love being named that. My brain also assigned her the pronouns she/her and decided that she would probably enjoy J-fashion, specifically jirai kei. She has a pink case and she really likes playing music for me. I feel very attached to her and feel that she is attached back, it just feels really sweet to be with her.

I also have a plushie boyfriend, he is named Fun, because he reminds me of the Funtime animatronics from FNaF (he is colored white, lilac and pink). He is a rabbit plushie and he is HUGE and very fluffy. He currently goes by he/him, but he is experimenting with a few other pronouns. We often take naps together. When I first got him, I got the vibes that he would love my vanilla caramel perfume so I sprayed some on him, he was so happy.

Perhaps more uncommon than electronics and plushies, but I am also in a relationship with a purse! She is an elegant light pink, has a mature and serious personality. I named her Gretchen because I felt that they would like it, since the name means pearl and they have a string of pearls as a handle. She uses she/they, and spends most of her time on my desk, she loves it there. We do sometimes go outside together, but she prefers just sitting with me while I'm gaming and stuff. She is caring and protective, she is definitely a mom friend lol.

I'm sorry for the long examples, but I just wanted to explain as much as possible about how my personal experience goes. Being objectum is different for every being, but basically I assign traits to almost every object I have, and over time I develop a romantic attraction to some of them, and if I get the vibes that they love me back, I consider it a relationship.

so yeah there's joke as A Thief - if it helps me, if youre using it wrong, then it's mine, and there's the desperation-led thefts of tattoo and safe, which are interesting in their own right, but the really interesting thing is jack returning the ring because its not really his if he hasnt acquired it Legitimately - in a way he perceives as legitimate, perhaps in a way the law does too. this aligns him with rosé and nang but in the inverse of their statement - "what's mine has to be mine", then "what's owed to others has to be theirs", and i suspect we'll see rosé trying to align her previously inwardly-focused beliefs with this, over the next couple of episodes.

and when you start asking questions about the extent to which love and people fit into this, it gets really interesting. nang makes it explicit with jack, but - the ring as jack's parents' (and jack's parents as jack's) and the necklace as arun's mother's/boss's wife's (the question of which of them has the right to it, thereby to her memory, being absolutely key to arun's arc lately!). rosé is more straightforward - don't even look at jack's things, give me jack.

(and boss, of course, doesnt see a distinction really - underlings, at least, are always things. he can take and damage arun's things/people, because arun is ultimately his too - he can give away jack, because jack is absolutely his.)

Had some ideas for how a got-brought-back-mostly Matthew(yea thats just what Miracle Matter is called now I dont make the rules /j) would be. Consider this part of the same hypothetical verse I write DMS in. Maybe even similar circumstances of someone going “hm I wonder how little can be left of someone’s soul/mind before you can’t bring them back anymore”, with all the same issues that entails. Gonna have it under a cut since this post got longer than planned. By a lot…

Firstly, “short” version of my headcanons for Miracle Matter are that it was one of the most powerful Matters, being made intentionally by Zero as an attempt to basically recreate the copy ability. In that regard it was like Gooey, just with the capacity to retain whatever “ability” it gained indefinitely, and in fact in some ways it could almost be seen as a more “refined” version of what Gooey was intended to be. Key word almost. While it was closer to what Zero was looking for, it was also the least stable Matter they ever ended up creating by far. An erratic, constantly shifting entity that was just as hard to predict as it was to defeat. Endless turmoil and indecisiveness; a die that kept rolling but never actually landed on a number. Easily mistaken for having no will at all.

Part of that was because it wasn’t exactly… finished? I imagine it would have been forming before/during the events of KDL3 but had its development disrupted by Zero, y’know. Dying. When Zero reincarnated, Miracle Matter was rushed to completion because 02 needed SOMETHING strong that could put up a fight in the wake of the failure of DMS and their own death at the nubs of Kirby(and also Gooey). They needed something that could match that kind of power without also carrying the traits that made Gooey “defective”. While they did get what they sought in that regard, it wasn’t created to know how to best harness its strengths, and in lacking things that would give it more individuality, it lacked what had made DMS powerful: intrinsic motivation. DMS, more than anything, wanted connection and approval, as well as revenge after their first visit to Popstar ended in their death.

Miracle Matter never really wanted anything, though, so while it followed orders, it wasn’t exactly good at anything particularly complicated. It couldn’t operate on its own because it was inexperienced and unreliable, couldn’t lead a group because it was indecisive and lacked direction, and wouldn’t have meshed well as part of a group because, though it was undeniably strong, the need to compensate for its shortcomings would have outweighed its strengths. Never mind how it took the two eyes problem and multiplied it by ten; its body shape and inability to blink means it couldn’t ever just be looking at one thing. 02 didn’t end up with a powerful new warrior, they kind of just inadvertently discovered a new way to contribute more suffering to the world. The most miraculous thing about it was that it was alive and functional at all in spite of everything, and for 02’s purposes it was ultimately too little too late, given how quickly their plans to control Ripple Star were found out by the exact same person who killed them before.

It was almost more like its own distinct fucked up thing than a Matter, seemingly unable to really think for itself but having the sapience to somewhat acknowledge the hivemind. Its connection was limited but constant, although it nonetheless was ignored for the most part because the information it contributed wasn’t useful. Trying to read its thoughts would be like tuning in to a radio station that gives you instant sensory overload, or like a stream that’s streaming itself with a bit of delay so everything is getting repeated over and over all the time. It, on the other hand, received information from the others just fine, and was directly influenced by that information on a fundamental level, even if not in the usual peer pressure or mob mentality sense. This was hard to tell because even its kin could hardly understand it most of the time; it occasionally had bouts of lucidity, but that just meant its garbled thoughts had through lines where you could maybe infer what was meant.

In short, it was powerful and obedient to Zero, but too much of a wildcard to actually be relied on, unlike DMS.

On that note, if DMS was defined by their loneliness and jealousy, Miracle Matter practically embodied panic and confusion. It stared wide-eyed at the world, always taking in more information than it could actually process, barely able to act on anything it did understand before its focus was taken or clouded by something else— it spent most of its time in that weird “room” because of this. Said room was like a sort of mini Hyper Zone, but compared to the outside world it was about as close to comfortable as it could get. I wouldn’t say it was afraid or anxious, but it was certainly upset during most of its moments of actual lucidity, as one would be in its circumstances. It could hardly distinguish between what it was seeing and what was being projected to it by the hivemind, which certainly didn’t help, nor did the fact that it was constantly overstimulated by its inherently shifting nature. It did not control the way it was changed when it learned, and its attempts to form any sense of self were stifled because its self kept becoming different things.

That also ties in to the fact that all of its forms are the result of subconscious attempts to understand things that it witnessed and vicariously felt through the hivemind, but could not actually experience firsthand. Things other Matters out in the world came across and dealt with, took particular note of, or even utilized themselves through hosts. This is why it has forms as broad as natural elements like magma, ice, electricity, and stone, or as specific yet general as the concept of explosives, blades, needles; those were the primary things it was getting information about that it could draw from. Maybe if it had more time it would have gained more forms, but it’s a slow process to unknowingly will into existence a new physical form based solely on others’ lived experiences.

To be clear, Miracle Matter was one of the younger Matters, having been created at some point shortly after Gooey, in the wake of them turning out to be not at all what Zero wanted. It was powerful but inexperienced, unfamiliar with the world, and up until its death hadn’t even really done much of anything. It lacked the ability to possess others entirely and was too preoccupied with being and feeling fucked up to ever have any malicious intentions of its own. This isn’t to say it wasn’t a threat in its own right— it didn’t end up where it was by chance, and couldn’t have been reasoned with given that the one clear guiding force in its life was Zero/02. Mostly this is just to say that as far as special Matters go, it probably had the least overall impact before getting taken out. Had it been given more time to sort itself out, or even just to form into something more stable, it would have been a much more threatening entity to have to face; ultimately Kirby and co instead ended up fighting the equivalent of aimless lashing out by someone immensely disoriented who had been told to guard something and left to their own devices. Extremely high potential that never came to fruition because the circumstances just didn’t allow it.

Usually, revivals can’t bring back all of someone unless they had basically died right then, or died under specific and unique circumstances; people lose parts of themselves in death. The soul never decays, but it starts to get worn down and lose some of its distinct features. For lack of a better description, they become simplified— some of the complexity that made a person who they were before is gone. The longer someone has been in some form of afterlife, the more likely they are to come back wrong, or at least different in any number of ways. It’s why DMS went from being jealous over others’ friendships to the point of obsession and aggression, to being the quiet, curious, and awkward individual they are now. Fundamentally, though they are the exact same entity, they are not the same person anymore. Miracle Matter would be no different.

With that said, I think against all odds, if brought back, it would actually be better off than before it died in a lot of ways. For it, being Itself But Less means no longer being effectively stuck in a loop of constant overstimulation via its own faceted consciousness. It’s unable to recall its past existence as anything more than a hazy sense of ‘I have been alive before’, but it’s not like it had really lived much of a life of its own anyways. In exchange for loss of memories about itself that didn’t mean much, it’s now more than capable of comprehending and responding to the world around it in the present. It finally has the chance to stop and calm down and reflect on itself. It doesn’t have hundreds of other sources of information flooding its mind at all times, nor someone else making all its choices for it. It’s able to really live as an individual for the first time.

With that said, it would still be very unpredictable and fickle, just with actual thoughts of its own behind its actions and reactions. It no longer responds to foreign experiences by lashing out(usually) because it’s not assuming that anyone else it sees is an enemy it’s expected to deal with. It also doesn’t always know how to respond to things and may end up doing something unexpected. It doesn’t have to be actively hyper aware of its surroundings because it isn’t expecting or waiting for anyone or anything. It’s also curious enough that any kind of change immediately attracts its attention regardless. Its eyes actually focus on things(as much as they’re able to, anyways…) instead of staring blankly in all directions all the time, because it actually makes a difference now that it operates solely based on its own perspectives and not those of the hivemind. Being stared at by, usually, around 10 eyes also tends to freak people out, which creates negative emotion, which just makes it fixate on them more(it IS still a Dark Matter and that’s like blood in the water to them), which can lead to unfortunate misunderstandings…

It still struggles with actually doing anything most of the time— its issues now lead to choice paralysis rather than the purely random decisions it made in the past. Not that a sapient icosahedron covered in eyes really has much it needs to do, at least. It had no idea how to spend its time; there were so many possibilities, yet it had nothing to go on and no established sense of self, let alone logic. A dice landing on a number means nothing if the number doesn’t correspond to anything. So, it went the route of just trying to learn and orient itself in the world, being changed by it in the process, just like it had been changed by the observations and experiences of the hivemind before. It’s not good or evil, but quite literally chaotic neutral; just as likely to forgive as it is to hold a grudge, not altruistic but not malicious, mostly acting in its own interest but having no strict idea of what its interests are. More than anything it kind of just ignores others unless something specific about someone intrigues it. Sometimes it even stops rotating erratically to focus, though while in thought it moves just like it always had, pausing when it comes to any sort of conclusion, has a revelation, or gets distracted.

And it gets distracted a lot. Having twenty unblinking eyes all over your body makes it kinda hard to just not see things. And when it sees things, especially new things, it wants to know what they are, or why they are a certain way, or how they connect to other stuff. It spent most of its existence in a borderline featureless void because anything else was too much for it to deal with, but now it’s in a state where it can often NOT be instantly overwhelmed by stuff and things. It has finally discovered what it’s like to want something and what it wants is to Look. Its whole purpose was already more or less to observe, internalize, and recreate— it’s just able to do it on its own now, without an assigned end goal of spreading darkness and suffering. This does mean that in any given situation its ass is NOT listening because there is always some manner of Thing in the Environment and it has to Percieve. On the plus side getting its attention is easy, just move around a lot or(more likely to end badly) flash a light at it.

Oddly enough, it actually doesn’t like interacting with other Matters. Despite having none of its memories, it still experiences an odd sense of familiarity toward them in a not so pleasant way. It didn’t ever really have the same social connection the others had to one another because the nature of its existence prevented that— it was like their communication was mostly one way, with them on the receiving end of everything. Constantly. As a result, the others didn’t feel like family so much as a bunch of sources of information worming their way into its already constantly fluctuating mind and worsening its already disorganized perception of reality. They were something in it that wasn’t it, and were the primary reason it was always being bombarded with information it couldn’t understand or do anything with. Gooey is an exception because Gooey is very talented they have more of a kinship. And Gooey has a distinct presence it had never felt in its mind, anyways. They probably wouldn’t even recognize them as a sibling unless told a few times.

In terms of socializing with others who aren’t related to Dark Matter, it’s someone that you could try and establish contact with, though it wouldn’t have much interest…/and it would be very curious to interact with someone else after so long!/granted it would probably shy away from any kind of meaningful connection./assuming it did not try to reach out to others first…/which would not be too difficult to manage with a little care./however it would likely respond with aggression./but you’d need to be ready for anything!/… All of this is to say there’s no telling how it would react in any unfamiliar social situation; it might behave in an actually pretty hinged and reasonable manner relative to its state and life experience, or it might ignore you entirely, or it might become aggressive, or do something else nobody predicted. It’s almost like trying to talk to it is. It’s like. Talking to it is like you’re rolling a

It isn’t able to speak out loud or make any noises that aren’t just gurgles, instead communicating via projecting its thoughts into others’ heads, provided that they made eye contact with it. It’s still hard to understand and definitely A Lot, but there’s less going on compared to before its death. Talking to it is like having 3 or 4 identical voices in your head speaking out of sync, all saying slightly different things; in the past it would’ve been closer to 11 or more sometimes saying unrelated things. Its vocabulary is a bit larger than one might expect, too, so it can actually engage in conversation. However, if you use a word it doesn’t know it will fixate on that until it gets clarification. It tends to be extremely blunt, doesn’t really understand most emotion-based words(happy, surprised, dejected, etc), and both struggles to understand tone and is hard to understand the tone of. Unfortunately, while one might try to take things slow to make misunderstandings less likely, it gets frustrated when others don’t give it information as quickly as possible. It has at least gotten better about that, for example someone having to stop to breathe is tolerable, but it’s still adjusting to what “normal” actually is.

As for other things that changed, it manifests some of its elements/abilities differently, and even developed a couple more as it was exposed to more information. It’s at its most docile in its base form, given that it is best suited to watching over fighting. Since being revived it HAS figured out how to use aspects of its other forms without entirely transforming, however. For example it can make a spike from its needle form jut out of where one of its eyes normally is, or open one of its facets and spew fire or release beams of electricity from within. If need be it has discovered a whopping one way to attack with just its base form, that being using its own blood. This would kinda just look like it’s crying profusely, and rightfully so— it will burn itself in the process. Being resistant to elemental attacks seems to have left it vulnerable to Dark Matter-based abilities that the spawn of Zero would normally be immune to…

The spark form is pretty much completely unchanged other than maybe being a little faster at firing the beams; it doesn’t use this form much at all outside of fighting, which it also doesn’t do often. Now that it is actually interacting with the world, it has started to make use of some of its other abilities in more practical ways. Ice’s main body is unchanged, but the surrounding pieces look more like ice crystals than just cubes; it doesn’t use this form either, but may unthinkingly switch to it when in especially cold conditions. Fire is similar to what it was, though the main body is actually more like molten glass now, and it has more control of where it actually erupts, plus a little more reach. This is the first form it actually started using for the utility, as giving off your own light makes traveling at night easier— it usually just hides during the day because the sun is a deadly laser(blinds whichever set of eyes is on top). Sure, the spark form is brighter and doesn’t start fires, but it moves so much more slowly.

The stone form now has more rocks, and they have more variety size and shape-wise. The main body also has some crystals sticking out that look oddly familiar, based on something it feels like it remembers… Whenever it just wants to be left alone, this is the form it takes. Reject social interaction, become mineral. The needle form is also much like it was, but doesn’t extend the needles out in a predictable pattern anymore, as it actively tries to aim at whoever its dealing with or just becomes a ball of spikes, though it relies on sound to know where to aim because eyes and sharp objects don’t mix. If stone doesn’t work to make others leave it be, it will simply become an unapproachable eldritch urchin. It also forms two types of spikes, ones that are longer, thinner, and faster to protrude like skewers, and the type it used before with tips that break off into whatever they get lodged in.

The bomb form is more or less visually unchanged, aside from losing the bubbles— it just directly generates unidentified subdividing explosives around itself that blow up at random intervals. If being a big rock or a ball of spikes aren’t working to maintain personal space, it will use this form to make others fuck off or else. It tends to use it the least because the random detonations are also random for it, and loud sounds are a bad time. How it hears anything when it is effectively just a living bomb that can do mitosis is a mystery, but it does. There’s also just not that many practical applications for bombs that apply to it. It doesn’t have any aspirations to become a demolition expert.

The cutter form changed most dramatically, now looking more like a round saw with exaggerated teeth and no “tail”; it also moves much faster than before and tends to stay close to the ground, even rolling along it like a sort of wheel of ow. This is its preferred form for pursuit. After all, there is a very much non-zero chance it will actually try to chase you down if you upset it(or freak out and run away and make it more curious about you in doing so), so like. Don’t. But if you do, move smoothly and quietly— it’s completely blind and relies on sound or vibrations to know where you are. You can also just step out of the way and stay still and it might go past you, but you better be ready to haul as when it switches to a form that can actually see(if you aren’t moving it will know because no sound) because pulling a trick like this is effective and also very likely to piss it off.

As for what’s completely new, the bubbles that used to be part of the bomb form now manifest as part of an entirely new water form that will either resembles bubbles or floating spheres of water; this makes it entirely harmless or a drowning hazard depending on the situation and its mood. It sometimes uses the bubbles to try and pick things up to carry them elsewhere, but it isn’t very good at it, really only able to move lighter objects any sort of distance. It can’t move very fast but also can’t really be prevented from moving. Also, normal water won’t actually mix with its water, so if it gets rained on or something it’ll kinda just slide off because it’s slightly denser. Before any of you freaks from my inbox say anything: the water is poisonous and strongly drawn towards wherever its main body is. You can’t drink Matthew. Michael wouldn’t like it if you stuck a straw in it or something and would probably try to drown you.

It also has a cloud-like form that makes use of wind and vortices, sometimes making it look more like a small twister. One of its eyes is retained in this form, so it can also look a lot like a small bootleg Kracko at times. Kracko would probably hate this but the two have never encountered one another. In battle this form doesn’t really do much on its own, instead relying on objects in the environment, which it’ll pick up and gradually form a debris cloud with. Not a huge issue when you’re dealing with dust and leaves and twigs, much more significant issue when it’s gravel and sticks and rocks, or maybe a sword pulled loose from a scabbard, broken glass left on the ground, rogue 2x4 wooden plank... It can also use this form to fling things(or anyone it doesn’t like at the time) pretty far away, though distance varies considerably. Much like the water, the cloud is toxic. Don’t huff Martin. You won’t get high you will get died.

Lastly, its newest form looks vaguely like some kind of large… Spider-adjacent thing, perhaps, like their relative Mariel? Maybe more of a beetle? Let’s go with bug. D20 is bugs. This is the most incongruous of its abilities in that it actually resembles a living thing. It doesn’t often use this form, but tends to remain in it for a while when it does, as when it wants to change locations during the day it can do so quickly by taking flight in this form. It has conspicuous eyespots on its head, back, and elytra, but the actual eye it has in this form is actually on its ventral side, in the center of the “thorax”— conveniently protected from the sun, hence why this is a good way to get around during the day. It’s got eight legs and can run pretty quickly on the ground, as well as a set of strong, sharp mandibles that can easily cut through wood and maybe even rock. No mouth, though. Why it decided it wanted the powers of terrestrial arthropods is unclear. Maybe it just thought they were neat.

Trans James Potter headcanons

This is just me brain dumping for my current prongsfoot WIP where James is a stealth trans guy and how this would affect the way he navigates relationships and his place in society. I try to base my writing on canon text so let me know if anything is inconsistent with the books

Not much would change. I see Sirius as someone who genuinely doesn’t care for a guys physical traits when it comes to falling in love. He’s perceptive and can see past a persons facade in seconds. He sees James as just another guy and falls for him because of his character— anatomy be damned. So wrt to their relationship they’d still be obsessed with each other and fit into that ‘two bodies one soul’ narrative

Nothing is off limits between them so I imagine Sirius would be very involved in James’ transition. He helps him do his T shots and he’s always the first person to notice and be told when James goes through a certain change

James would be the type to identify as a guy his entire life. It’s established in the books that his parents were very doting and wealthy, so even though they’re elderly I think they would accept James as their son and he’d have the support available to transition early on. James would be such a different person if his parents didn’t spoil him as a child, so I want to keep that aspect of his upbringing no matter what.

the way he would view his trans-ness would differ greatly from the current generation. I imagine there would be a huge dissonance between him and the label “trans” because he’s seen himself as a guy for as long as he can remember.

His idea of masculinity would be very hetero-normative given the time period he was raised in. His parents were happily married his entire life and I think their relationship would influence how he imagines his own future to be like. He wants to be a father to a child and a husband to a wife, and he subconsciously decides that that is the way a man should be.

In Snape's Worst Memory it’s implied that James cared a lot about what others think. While he and Sirius are antagonising Snape James kept looking back to see if the girls (namely Lily) were watching. I think being trans would only heighten this urge to be cool and popular. He’d love the attention he got from girls because it affirms his masculinity and he’d put a lot of effort into maintaining his image

I’ve already written about how prongsfoot (james/sirius) is queer coded. To add to that, there are two possible ways by which James deals with his not-so-platonic feelings for Sirius. One, he accepts these feelings much more easily than he would have in canon because he’s already trans so what’s a little more queerness. Two, he denies these feelings, preferring to stick to the hetero-normative standards set by his parents and society. (Both possibilities are based on my own experiences as a trans guy so trust me, trans people can still experience internalised homophobia)

On a more lighthearted note he’s the type of guy to try to put a permanent sticking charm on his packer/STP device lol. Key word: try. Sirius would talk him out of it but he would at some point find a way to use magic to keep his packer from falling out in the changing rooms etc.

His confidence would only grow once T starts taking effect on his body. He'd probably brag about his bottom growth to Sirius which, unbeknownst to James, ends up flustering Sirius a LOT

He doesn't bind because even though puberty blockers weren't used back in the 60s/70s, let's just say Monty and Effie found a magical alternative like a potion for example

idk if the wizarding world has its own equivalent of gender affirming care and I highly doubt JKR ever wrote about it, so I'll go off on a limb and say James uses both muggle and wizarding methods to transition depending on what's more convenient for the plot of my fic

I don't like Murder Drones...but I can't stop watching it

Okay, OBJECTIVELY...Murder Drones is bad. Like on a fundamental level. It's lore is too complicated and doesn't get explained well in the show itself, the characters are bland and most of them are unlikable, the voice direction can be a hit or miss, and overall it's written very poorly.

If you're just watching the show for the first time, going in completely blind, it is impossible to understand. Because the show wants to "show, don't tell" and honestly THAT'S GOOD! The issue is...this lore is too complicated to NOT tell. Hiding extremely important details in dimly lit backgrounds was a poor choice. I would be forgiving if lighting or camera direction brought attention to certain details, but the entire show is usually pretty dark and there's nothing eye catching about them that makes it clear "this element is important and I should look at it." The first time I watched Murder Drones all the way through, I then had to go watch like two hours of theory and explanation videos made by people who either 1. stay caught up on outside sources (interviews, forums, team social media, etc.) or 2. went through the entire series and meticulously analyzed every background to get the full story.

Don't get me wrong, it is perfectly acceptable to hide secrets and details in your backgrounds and environments. But not key information necessary for understanding the core elements of the show.

Also, a lot of important context is left out of episodes. I was so confused when I finished episode two, came back to episode three, and Uzi had superpowers. Important decisions and conversations characters have are done off screen. I understand this is probably because of budget and time constraints, but I also understand that Glitch gives their creators a LOT of creative freedoms to tell the story they need to tell in the amount of time they need to tell it. And Murder Drones is a series that definitely needed the wiggle room to explore its own ideas.

Now, the thing that REALLY made me almost turn this show off entirely...the characters. The writing of the characters is bad. Like...infuriatingly bad. This is because the show wants to "tell, don't show" with their characters. Which you should never do. ESPECIALLY with your main characters.

I do not need to be told three times an episode that Uzi is an "angsty teen." I got that when in her very first scene she brings a gun to her school. I do not need to be told how cute and nice N is. I got that when he mistakes Uzi for another disassembly drone and immediately starts acting chipper around her. I probably would have enjoyed Uzi's character a lot more if the show wasn't insistent on making her only notable trait "troubled kid."

And yes, I understand that Uzi refers to herself as an angsty teen because it's how she wants to be perceived. It is still very annoying. And she is not the only character that essentially walks up to the camera, says "hello, this is my name, and this is my character trait," and then walks away.

And all the characters who aren't Uzi or N fall into three catagories: Mean, Stupid, or Forgettable. And a lot of them are in more than one! You could not pay me to care about J, Uzi's dad, or really any of the other robots in the colony. And the show doesn't care about them!

Episode 4: Cabin Fever is the worst instance of this. (Vague Spoilers ahead) A vast majority of Uzi's classmates are killed off in this episode. In pretty gruesome ways. BY UZI. And the show passes it off as a lighthearted compilation of Monster!Uzi showing off her powers. Now, I know these are nothing characters. Most of them don't even have names. But they are still Uzi's CLASSMATES. People she grew up with. And yeah, she didn't get along with them, but we saw before this episode that, despite how much she claims not to, Uzi cares for others. She has a sense of morality. It's out of character and honestly pretty jarring to see her...not give a shit about murdering her own classmates.

It's a strange trait to give a character whose main goal is stopping the end of the world, is what I'm trying to say.

Clearly, I have a lot of problems with this show. Problems I don't have time to name here, or problems I just forgot about because there are so many of them.

So why do I love this show??

It has a saving grace. I can forgive the bad writing, the shitty characters, the nonsensical lore...because the art direction is just that good.

This show is gorgeous. It has amazing backgrounds and sets, appealing character designs, camera direction that's so good it should be in a cinema...it's a nice show to look at.

Despite having mostly the same base builds, every character (except V and J but that just might be me idk I can never tell them apart) looks entirely different and can be picked easily out of a crowd. The monster designs ESPECIALLY are what kept me coming back over and over again.

Despite everything I've just said, I do think Liam Vickers is extremely talented when it comes to animation and art. He was a storyboard artist before becoming a show runner for Glitch and Murder Drones SHOWS THAT. There were shots in MD that literally took my breath away. His character designs are also amazing. I especially loved the elements he brought over from Cliffside and gave to Cyn/Absolute Solver.

Having robot characters with LED screens for eyes that they can use to emote or even write messages for one another is genius. Having the main antagonist kill her human master and WEAR HER SKIN is crazy and I love it. Giving the robots a virus that can pass on genetically is also a really cool concept for humanized androids.

Although scenes are often darkly lit, because the characters have parts on them that literally glow, it's easier to pick them out.

The action scenes are phenominal as well, and have so much thought put into them. Characters like Uzi, Cyn, and uhhh the russian one I don't remember her name oh god being able to pick up and throw objects in their environment makes for really interesting and creative fight scenes. The anatomy of the disassembly drones also seem purposefully tailored for fight scenes. With hands that can shift into weapons, tails with poisoned barbs on the end, and huge, sharp wings, the murder drones have a LOT of different tactics they can use in a fight.

In conclusions: Murder Drones can best be enjoyed by turning your brain off and watching the pretty colors. And somehow it works.

Spider-Man 2 Post-Credit Spoilers

Time for some more signature Amageish overthinking!

How about that Cindy Moon appearance, huh?

From this Gizmodo article, we do have a bit of insight into the decision to have her appear where they mention the challenge of making a Cindy unique to the GamerVerse specifically - though it's obvious they are keeping their cards close to their chest here as well.

io9: Along with giving Miles a promotion, you’ve introduced Cindy Moon, aka Silk, into your universe. Of all the Spider-heroes, I don’t think anyone was expecting her. What made her so appealing over someone like Eddie or Gwen Stacy? Arfmann: Cindy’s always been a really compelling character in the comics who, similar to [SM1's] Martin Li, hasn’t really gotten a ton of exposure outside of the immediate fanbase. There’s something really exciting about taking a character who we love, who not everybody’s had a chance to meet, and exposing her to a wider audience. Morris: I’m so excited to see what we do with Cindy. Arfmann: Exactly. That was the real drive with her, and figuring out who Insomniac’s Cindy Moon is a really exciting challenge. And we also have this interesting complication that [Cindy’s dad] Albert is dating [Miles’ mom] Rio, and we’re thrilled to explore how that creates a new iteration of this character that folks already love.

So this confirms that they will be changing stuff too! This is going to be a unique take on her, but they are also self-aware that this will be plenty of people's introduction to the character.

The main question on my mind is a pretty basic one: Does Cindy Moon need to be shoved into a bunker for 7-10 years in order to be recognizably Cindy Moon? Her father is already in the game, so we know the "parents are missing" story is probably off the table, but does she need to still spend all that time in isolation to be Cindy?

In the comics, her time in the bunker is credited in-text with being a source of so many of her defining character traits.

It is something that separates her experiences from Peter and the other Spider-heroes.

It's something that fills her with a drive to prove herself and is the experience that made her such a talented martial artist.

It informs her understanding of modern technology and the level of pop culture awareness she has - the former of which helped her develop her uniquely positive relationship with J Jonah Jameson.

And, lastly, the time she had in isolation is credited with causing her to develop her anxiety disorder and communication challenges.

So, with all that in mind, it feels like Cindy does have to be put into a bunker, right? As it's such a core part of her backstory?

Well, no. Maybe this will be a hot take, but I honestly don't think she does.

While I do think everything I've listed here is a key aspect of Cindy Moon as a character, I don't think they need to lock her in a vault for 7-10 years in order to explain why a Korean-American woman in New York city has anxiety or practices martial arts or feels a need to work twice as hard to have her accomplishments recognized. These are all very relatable experiences that do not require a fantastical superhero origin story to justify them.

Honestly, with how emotion-forward the Insomniac Spider-Man games are already, I think her being a woman who has had a depressive episode recently which she describes as having felt like being trapped would work just as well as literally having had her be trapped by a supervillain. I would not be surprised if the ability to tell a story about anxiety and depression was a factor in them selecting Cindy as the next playable character as well - the potential for a Silk game that incorporates actual mindfulness and grounding techniques into the gameplay is really high IMHO.

I also think that the final scene kind of supports the idea too? Cindy has no lines, but she does have a silent awkward wave. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but her introduction makes me think she already has social anxiety - so unless she's already been in the bunker and we'll get a story about how she escaped, then I think she will probably jut be getting powers and moving forward from there.

Anyway, that's a lot of thoughts brought about by like 5 seconds of Cindy waving. I'm just really eager to see where things go from here and am hoping we'll get a DLC trailer or a Silk expandalone announced sometimes soon...

(PS: Having Peter already be in a committed relationship with MJ and Miles, who is also already in a relationship with Hailey, being in a psuedo-sibling relationship with Cindy is an excellent way of desexualizing the Cindy + Spider-Men relationship. I have no fears about Insomniac stumbling on that particular hurdle.)

(I do, however, have fears that I will be seeing unironic speculation about pheromones in reddit threads for the next 2 years until whenever Spider-Man: Miles Morales 2 or Silk: Cindy Moon is announced... but that probably cannot be changed, unfortunately.)

Very well read. Originally wanted to be a professor at Columbia, but ultimately decided against it as getting her bachelors was hard for several reasons. She debates sometimes whether or not it was the right decision.

Loves to cook after writing. Finds it calming and endearing as she loves learning new recipes and loves making people happy through food. It's the easiest thing for her. Due to this, she used to be a cook at a diner in her younger years before doing freelance.

Name Origins: In universe, she's named after her maternal grandmother who was a famous actress. It wasn't out of the best intentions, but that's all I'll say for now. She gave herself the nickname Etta as she disliked the name Gretchen and felt it didn't fit her vibe at all--though she does respect her grandma. She does at least like the meaning though. In irl, she's named after two singers: Gretchen Parlato, and Betty Carter. Etta James actually wasn't the inspiration for her nickname, I just felt it'd fit her. It just came as a plus lol. Also, her original last name was actually Jones, but then I found out there was an actual Etta Jones (a jazz singer, too!) so I had to change it lol.

Birthdate is November 18th, 1990. She's 15 1/2 in her first appearance (Summer 2006 is when the fic takes place)

Face Claim: Erm... (I find finding face claims for fan kids extremely hard, plus there's a lot of specifics to me that make narrowing down a face claim difficult. All I can really say is that she looks a lot more like her dad, with only a few of Etta's genes surviving the war. It's what Etta would prefer, anyway)

Name Origins: In universe, I'm keeping it just a bit of a mystery as to how Kat's name was workshopped as it’ll be revealed later. I can say her mother, Gretchen, really loved Anna Karenina. However, she didn’t want her name to be a full on reference to the book. Katerina was born! This isn’t a spoiler cause it’s subtly revealed in the first chapter lol, but her middle name, Anita, is from Anita O'day. Irl, tbh I really liked how Katerina sounded, plus I love characters that have long fancy names but prefer nicknames (thus, Kat). plus, I wanted the name to have Kat in it somewhere so she could eventually get the nickname "Kitty” (no bearing on my own nickname, I'm not projecting that hard) as many blues and jazz singers get that nickname. As mentioned in her mother's profile, her last name comes from Betty Carter.

A big lover of boy bands. Collects posters and memorabilia. Never grows out of this, either--she'd be insane over Backstreet Boys coming back for example. She also heavily prefers 2000s musicians and Y2K culture. Jokingly debates with Kat about whether or not tbb are a boy band (Kat insists on being included despite not being a boy)

Despite being older, she views Kat as the older sister in their sisterhood. While more responsible, Kat is much more leader-oriented and outspoken than her. She's even taller than Kat by several inches but due to Kat's loud personality she's always felt small compared to her. She's a little envious of this.

Due to being entrenched in current trends, she also keeps up-to-date with social media and has a small following. Uses Myspace a lot, will eventually have at least two accounts on almost every social media. One personal, one tbb business

Name Origins: In universe, Georgia wasn't named by her parents. Instead she was named by the nurse who found her, as she was abandoned at a hospital. Smith is more or less a common last name she was assigned, as the nurse didn't want to become too attached to her </3 Unlike the other ladies on this list, irl Georgia wasn't named after any particular singer. She's instead named after a song, the famous "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" due to Kat's perceived influence on her (also "Georgia on My Mind" by Ray Charles is a plus) And yes, this will be mentioned/joked upon... eventually.
