Once Amity got curious and let her get involved and Boscha proceeded to get a tooth knocked out of her skull with absolutely no warning.

Camila is very worried about Luz’s friends. Gus seems alright but he’s so Young and doesn’t seem to understand personal space, Amity fluctuates between shy & polite to catty & aggressive depending on if she knew Camila was around, and Willow looks and smells like she deals weed. She wants to believe that Luz wouldn’t hang out with a bad crowd, especially since they have lil Gus there, but she’s certainly Concerned.

Eskel wasn’t sure how this had become his life. He was sneaking through the stony cold corridors of Kaer Morhen with Lil’ Bleater stuffed into the front of his armour. Luckily she was only a little goat, but that also meant she struggled in the extreme cold of the mountain winters. He kept a low Igni in the palm of his hand to light the corridors in the dead of night, the tiny flame prickling heat against his face. He’d used Axii on his goat whilst carrying her to keep her from bleating the keep down and waking the others but still the bastard kept kicking him in the chest, not particularly grateful for Eskel’s rescue attempt.

“Little shit, that’s what I should have called you,” Eskel groused, pressing his nose against her forehead.

Lil’ Bleater didn’t respond thanks to Axii, but she butted her horns into Eskel’s cheek. He chuckled under his breath. “Lil’ Bastard.”

When he got to his room he settled Lil’ Bleater with some blankets, bribing her with some bread he’d snuck up to his room. She bleated loudly as his sign finally weakened.

“Shh!” He hissed “You’ll wake everyone up.”

She just bleated even louder in response. Eskel rolled his eyes, scooping her up so she could sleep on the bed. She trampled his chest as they both settled down to sleep. He grunted, a little winded from her hooves, but didn’t otherwise complain… she had him wrapped around her little hoof and she knew it.

“Night, little one,” he hummed as he fell asleep; not noticing his bedroom door was still open.

“Hmm,” Geralt agreed “fine.”

Jaskier cursed, pulling a blankets around his shoulders as he tried to shoo her from their room. Geralt, the bastard, just laughed, watching as Jaskier hopped around the room looking from some trousers so he could go racing after the goat. “It’s just a goat, Jask. You hardly need a witcher.”

Jaskier spun round with one had on his hips. “You are no help!”

Jaskier hands shook as he made his way along the steep and narrow path. There were tears blinking in his eyes but he wouldn’t cry over Geralt, not after everything that had been said. He was stronger than that, he had to be. The dull ache of unrequited love burned in his chest, stabbing his heart with every gasping breath. He gripped his lute strap tightly, knuckles going white with the ferocity of his grip. If he let go then he would lose the last thread of sanity he had left. He would crumble like the world around him. The sun beat down on him, hot, blistering and totally unfair.

He wished for rain.

It was more poetic with rain.

Perhaps the rain would hide his tears as they threatened to fall.

His throat ached as he choked back a sob. He’d had his heart broken before, but never like this. Losing your heart for a weekend to whichever lover warmed your bed was nothing compared to the searing agony of losing your closest friend for twenty years. He’d yearned for something more romantic, unrequited love was a bitch after all, but to lose Geralt like this…

He’d never even dreamed of this.

And after that fluttering of hope when he’d suggested that the pair could go to the coast together.

“Fuck!” He yelled at the sky before falling to his knees, sobs wracking through his body; pitiful and pathetic.

He missed him, fuck. It had barely been an hour and he missed him so very terribly. He missed what they had, what they could have been… all that wasted potential. He missed Geralt’s eyes, twinkling with silent mirth. He’d spent hours staring into those eyes whilst Geralt stumbled to find the right words to say. He laughed bitterly, he's spent just as much time avoiding the burning golden gaze when he’d fucked up, got injured or just spoken too harshly; the awkward silence weighing heavy between them.

He missed the campfires under the stars. How many more could they have had together? How many had he ruined by going to bed early, or complaining about the cold; teeth chattering as he huddled closer to Geralt for warmth. He scraped at the ground with his finger nails, begging for someone to take this pain away from him. He could use it, weaponise it… but…

He couldn’t.

Not against Geralt.

He’d spent so much of his life trying to improve Geralt’s lonely existence. He wouldn’t undo that.

He gasped a breath as his tear pooled on the dirt beneath him.

He missed the long days walking beside Geralt. He wasn’t getting any younger but he had so much more to give. He gritted his teeth. Geralt had never been so fond of those days. Jaskier was too loud; playing his lute until his fingers began to bleed and his throat felt dry. No wonder Geralt wanted to get rid of him.

“Fuck…” he whispered, wrapping his arms around his chest. He had to keep moving, he had to… he had to get out of here. Numbly, he got to his feet. Each step was heavy but he kept going, trying desperately to not think of every lost day.

All because he couldn’t keep his fucking mouth shut.

“Please, forget me,” he whispered to the absent witcher “you were right dear. I am cold, and self-involved…”

He’d been too distracted by his music, his mission to change the public’s tune about Geralt. He been so obsessed with his ballads and poems that he’d never stopped to consider that his attention had been unwanted, he thought of nothing except his own art.

One more song.

He’d write one more song, about Geralt and about Yennefer…

And about him.

“I’ll write my loneliness, if I can just think how to start.”

He thought about the unfinished song in his notebook, it was shit but… if he could draw on this feeling. He could make something spectacular and something that wouldn’t ruin Geralt.

No.

It would only ruin his heart. He sniffed, wiping his eyes as he glanced back up at the mountaintop. He wondered if Geralt was still there, gazing solemnly out at the horizon.

“I hope, for your life,” he breathed, desperately trying to ignore they choking burn in his throat, the way his chest felt like it was collapsing beneath his fingers, “that you can forget about mine. I’ll grant your wish Geralt. I would do anything for you, darling.”
