As a Lion, have you ever been accused of being judgmental? I'm always being told to think the best of people, not to judge, always put the most charitable spin on things no matter what, etc. Example: If you see someone driving recklessly, don't react with anger but assume they are rushing due to an emergency. Obviously I don't want to be a jerk but it feels like I'm expected to brainwash myself.

I have absolutely been accused of being judgmental and holier-than-thou. I suspect most Idealists have.

And there are some categories of people I judge extremely harshly and probably always will. Teachers and parents who use their authority to bully children is a big one. I don't care what the context is, I will grind you into the fucking ground.

But here's a silly one. I used to be SUPER judgy of people who named their kids diminutives. Like if the kid was named "Kate" or "Rick" instead of "Katherine" or "Richard." But then I actually learned about names and realized that "Alison" and "Aiden" and "Nancy" and a million others were ALSO diminutives, and actually diminutives split off into their own independent names all the time, and it would be really silly for me to poo-poo some diminutives and not others, and actually the whole thing was me being elitist and gross. And now I don't judge people's names anymore.

In a lot of ways, this whole SHC project of mine is an exercise in not judging people. It's a lot harder to judge specific behavior/traits when you see the vulnerable, hurting human being on the other side. Because yeah, those platitudes like "you never know what someone else is going though" never did much for me either. Hypothetical knowledge isn't going to cut it. But it really does become much harder to judge the erratic driver, when you've had to calm down some terrified 16 year old who thought they were ready to drive on the freeway, and weren't.

(I actually use my students as a moral tool a lot. I even use it as a tool to stop judging myself - because the idea is what would I tell myself, if I were one of my students?)

Listen, the Outlanders have already been through enough. I’ll only make it worse by killing off their new friends/love interests. Ucheshi, for example, is one of my favorite TLG oc’s now and killing her off would only hurt me. Plus, she’ll just end up outsmarting whoever her attacker is 😉

I will say that Kifo does have a near death experience when she’s about to fall into lava, but is quickly caught by Kenge, who isn’t letting any of his friends die. Not again.

Now my villain oc’s….that’s a different story. I feel like Mpinzani and Mkatili are most likely to die trying to win against the Outlands. Off the top of my head, Mpinzani’s either going to fall into lava at the same time as Kifo or he’s gonna get eaten by Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed after getting knocked out. Mkatili…you know what, he’s gonna have a fate worse than death: He’s gonna get taken by the monsters (humans).

I'm bored, so I'm going to sort some characters from my science fantasy series.

The younger sister: Bird Primary, Snake Secondary - Ends up in our dimension or a version of it after her sister saves her. After recieving some culture shocks and being lucky enough to be found by people who take her in, she adapts to this world. (She's only twelve when she comes here.) She's always searching for truth and wants things to make sense, which ties into her eventual career as a physicist. I'm leaning towards Snake sec for her since for plot reasons she has to find ways around or not telling the truth about her origins. She is also used to having to read people or a room and adjusting accordingly. Has Bird and Badger sec models she built for her parental figures and for achieving her goals.

Older sister - Snake Bird who burns after she thinks she killed her sister and unburns as she starts to recover from some of her trauma/alcoholism and realizes she didn't kill her sister.

Younger sister's daughter - Lion Primary, Unknown Secondary. She burns as a child due to having clairvoyant abilities and not knowing why she knows things or getting in trouble for knowing things she shouldn't.

Younger sister's husband - Lion Primary, Badger Secondary. I think Lion Primary because when he feels like something is wrong, it's wrong and he's not changing his mind. Badger Sec because he will grind as long as he needs to and invests a lot of time in caretaking and in his community. His twin brother is a Lion Bird who works for the CIA and wishes his twin would also put his clairvoyant abilities to use like he does.

Hey, now, no need for that! I don't find that at all surprising that you thought Druig might be a Badger. If that's how you read him, that's fine; he did go off and build his own village after all. And I actually did consider Badger Secondary for him, we just don't get a chance to really see how he interacts with the villagers, and what we did see of how he interacted with his previous community, the other Eternals, suggested he was generally a loner amongst them. Could there be a bunch of Badger Secondary things he does off screen (perhaps in how he helped build his village)? Sure. But until I see them, I'm settled on Bird Secondary.

Now, if you're talking about a Badger Primary, there is no doubt that he has very strong Badger Primary values! I just think he is coming to those values through a Lion Primary. And that can be a tough call to make, between a Badger and a Lion with Badger values (alternatively called a Paragon Lion), because morally speaking, they can be on the exact same wavelength. As I said before though, Druig is initially less concerned about the world ending and all of humanity dying with it, than he is with the fact that he just learned he is an artificial life-form. Generally, I found that each Eternal's initial reaction to discovering the truth of who they are and their mission to be very telling (ex. all of the Badgers (sans Ikaris) were disturbed by the thought of humanity dying).

(And "nice" isn't the right word. As long as I like the media I'm being asked to sort, I truly enjoy taking these posts on. I just unfortunately have been battling my usual business and illness, so I haven't had much time for this blog lately.)

Do you have any advice for how burned Lion primaries can approach making decisions while they try to unburn? I have some important decisions to make and my brain is going nuts and when I go to my loved ones to ask for advice, they just ask how I'd feel if I made X decision. But I have 10 different conflicting feelings and that's why I don't know what to do.

Um. I'll tell you my old strategies, then ones I used to use when I was pretty burned. I'm not positive how sane they make me sound or how objectively healthy they are, but they did work.

Get really really tired. Basically, I'm trying to hack my brain so I have no bandwidth for anything but my deepest core feelings. Then rubber-duck your problems, like literally explain them aloud, to something outside yourself. I've found this technique very helpful in the past.

Stream of consciousness diary writing. But, and this is key, you need to put time between actually writing the diary and making the decision. The writing is to get the feelings out, the reading it back later is for sorting though the feelings which are relevant or not relevant to the core problem.

Practice making small, low-stakes feeling-based decisions. I started by picking out desktop wallpapers I liked, then eventually leveled up to clothes, and on to other aspects of my life.

Sometimes you do just actually need to bite the bullet and do something to see if it feels right or not. It's not ideal, because rolling back a decision is annoying, but unless you're trying to decide whether or not to have a kid, it can be done.

Ah, and while thinking about what they could be talking about, I remembered the onion soup I just ate, and when I tried to think about a monster that could be like an onion, I could just think about ogres... (because, as you might remember, they have layers. Like an onion)

But, since an ogre like Shrek would be a demihuman, I imagined the monster in question as a kind of swamp golem or something...

He'd manipulate you by turning you against your friends because in his eyes you are born to evil that's why you ended up with him , your friends are the wrong influence "And those so-called friends of yours? THEODORE NOTT
