scu knuckles thoughts

It kinda bothers me how SCU Knuckles both in canon and fanwork is made into some idiot who can't grasp the idea of technology and stuff.. Like, putting aside the fact that game verse Angel Island was equipped with ancient technology, I get that the SCU echidnas are apparently supposed to be some small village with no actual indication of once being a huge civilization capable of making technological advancements (this is all given to the owls instead, see Longclaw's hologram and the entire maze-rising-from-the-ocean thing that kept the Master Emerald hidden) (actually bothers me how much of the echidna aesthetic was given to the owls lmao, like, we didn't even get the echidnas' ancient temple or their art or anything, it was all longclaw and gang)

So like, I get that it would be pretty obvious to write Knuckles as not understanding technology (that and because the writers can't stop themselves from making one 'knuckles is actually dumb guys' joke but whatever. Humor. Comedic relief. That scene where he smashes Sonic's hologram actually made me laugh the first time I saw it would you believe that) on first glance you'd think that all the planets are not really technologically advanced, but there's the owls, and there's Tails, who's an inventor and he's not really talking about how he invented electricity or whatever on his planet, nor is he surprised by any technology he sees on earth so it's safe to assume that there are places/planets in the SCU universe outside of earth that have technology just as advanced, and probably even more advanced.

So what I'm trying to get at here, is that while Knuckles comes from a less technologically developed place/planet/society? (Idk, maybe just a place in time for his tribe? (I'd really love it if SCU at least attempted worldbuilding, man…) ) He's supposed to be the guy who travelled the entire galaxy, has seen things no one has ever seen, fought many enemies, apparently got captured by other people… Like, obviously he's not gonna experience the joys of owning a mixer or whatever but I'm sure that if anyone actually bothered to write or come up with actual adventures or misadventures that he could've had while searching for the ME, they would easily get to a place where he watches something on a screen or sees holograms or turns lights on and off or sees an automatic door or uses a vehicle that resembles a car and multitude of other things I really don't understand why people think that he needs prince Edward from enchanted to explain to him how the lightbulb turns on and off

I cannot believe how many people in the United States of America, are comfortable with vehicles with out-of-state license plates pulling up at a church, letting out a load of masked, heavily armed men, vaguely identifying as 'police,' who refuse to even say what agency they are from let alone their badge numbers, grab someone off the street without a warrant of any kind and whisk them away to some unknown location.

Even if you believe that people who are here illegally should be deported, don't you want to make sure that we know who we are deporting, that we know why they are being deported, that we know for sure that there is no lawful way for them to remain in this country?

Can we really not envision a process of deportation that is not excruciatingly traumatizing and cruel? An orderly system with collaboration between the DOJ and the immigration courts. I actually think such a system is not difficult -- even if you insist on these outcomes, can't we have the means be consistent with the Constitution?

Are my fellow Americans really so unafraid of what it means to live in a country where armed men snatch people off the street?

Another reason I'm obsessed with My Beautiful Man, they completely deconstruct the whole Tsundere trope and make it better.

Kiyoi's harsh attitude is used masterfully to not be seen as vulnerable and he even convinces himself that he's not as emotional a person as the rest of those around him. And Hira's worship of him just adds to this. But Kiyoi is greedy for Hira, even as he can't bring himself to accept just how much he has come to need Hira to love him.

This is why Hira and his insecurities while heartbreaking to see, never make me angry, because if this were every other romance then Hira would keep trying to make Kiyoi love him. But Hira limits himself, cause he's so genuinely respectful and hates the thought of doing anything Kiyoi wouldn't like. And Hira doesn't believe himself worthy of love so the Tsundere!Kiyoi has to break out of his own protective shell to be vulnerable!

Kiyoi can't live in denial about who he wants. His abrasive behaviour, which is a defense mechanism, has consequences! The man he loves just pulls further away. His inability to communicate his feelings verbally leaves Hira without an understanding of what Kiyoi feels. And so Kiyoi is unable to live in denial and is forced to accept repeatedly just how much he cares about Hira, just how much he wants him.

Kiyoi even tries to repeatedly let go of Hira in typical Tsundere fashion, which is a call for attention. But in this case it doesn't work! Kiyoi doesn't get to be chased as his ego demands! HE HAS TO DO THE CHASING!

Kiyoi has to learn to be honest with himself and with his lover. And that's why they're soulmates! Only Hira could have pushed Kiyoi into smashing out of his shell. Just as Kiyoi is the only one who can motivate Hira to grow and fight to overcome his own shell.

I know it seems like I'm obsessed with Kiyoi, but I'm actually completely in love with Hira and don't know how to verbalize my thoughts on that man. He's insane and completely amazing.

"it was awkward to see colin flirt and behave like a rake" "he gave me the ick" yes ! that is the fucking point!! congratulations! you have the media literacy skills of a fucking monkey because my 4-year old niece could understand it better than you do.

we are supposed to find colin cringey and annoying and get the ick because that is not who he is. he is not anthony, or simon, or even benedict. colin (apart from gregory) is the sweetest of all bridgerton brothers (i'm going by book canon) and his most identifiable character trait is the fact that he values an emotional connection above everything. he runs away to the continent because he wants to feel that emotional connection. he has meaningless sex in brothels because that is the example he has seen growing up, that is the norm. he tries so hard to fit into the norm. he goes out drinking, adopts an entirely new personality, learns flirtations because that is how he thinks he will fit in. he's got armour on, as violet said. he puts everyone's needs above his own, he stops rambling on and boring his family with details of his trip because he knows no one cares. he doesn't talk to anthony or benedict about his heartaches because he knows they still, somewhere in their heart of hearts, view him as the annoying younger brother. he's so devastated by his closest friend not responding to him that he adopts a new personality in the hopes that it might mask the hurt better. he runs after penelope in episode one because he is so attuned to her emotions that he knows she's hurting, and tries to comfort her even when she's spiraling and lashes out. he must have been hurt by her words in the "good night mr bridgerton" scene but he puts it aside to genuinely apologise to her when literally no one else in that family would do that. colin, instead of brooding over his own feelings, goes and corners penelope in her family's garden and apologises to her, disregarding his own hurt at being cruelly dismissed by his close friend.

penelope asking colin to kiss her is not a mark of how "pathetic" she is. she has written and shamed herself in a manner that is almost entirely unsalvageable. she is at her lowest point, and then portia comes in and reminds her of how undesirable she is, and she sinks even lower. she asks colin to kiss her because she sees it as a final act, after which she can quietly wave goodbye to her dreams of ever getting married and leaving her mother's home. colin kisses her because he is also keenly aware of how she's feeling. he knows how hurt she is, he wants to do anything to alleviate that. be it cracking a joke, or kissing her. he is gentle, because he wants it to be something she can dream of when she's by herself. penelope, at this moment, has no hope for herself, and their kiss is an act of letting go for her. no, it's not a pity kiss, no he did not like her after her glow up, he has always loved her. him being struck dumb is a reaction to her physical transformation, nothing more. he does not flirt with her in that ballroom scene, he only approaches her when she's in distress. he's not flirting with her. i can assure you penelope could wear the frumpiest most neon yellow gown of all time and colin would still go "<333 my pen" for her.

colin jumps to catch the balloon's ropes because he sees that penelope is in danger, he does not give a shit about anyone else lmao. he feels temporary relief when he sees eloise run to safety, but the moment he sees penelope in immediate danger, he rushes to take action. afterwards, when he sees that she's being comforted by debling (all my homies hate debling, even if he is aro/ace coded i do NOT claim him) he does not approach her. it would be easy for him to do so, but he does not, because he respects her boundaries. colin bridgerton is the only man in the ton who respects women (the featherington sons-in-laws are too pretty to have a thought) he calls out fife and his friends for treating women like objects and calls them cavalier. the only way he would have been more explicit about his demisexuality was if he tap danced on the club table (entertaining thought, luke newton please)

colin also rapidly takes action, something which no one in the show has done so far. simon would have died instead of accepting his feelings for daphne, daphne would have been content with a loveless marriage forever instead of asking for help. kate would have pushed edwina down the aisle and gone off to india instead of confronting her own feelings, and anthony would have married edwina if she hadn't been brave enough for the three of them to run from the altar and ruin herself. penelope stood on the sidelines for years and loved him quietly because she had no hope of him loving her back. colin, the moment he is assured of his feelings, runs to penelope, almost kisses her in the middle of a ballroom. when he hears that debling is about to propose, he goes to the ball, just to dissuade penelope one more time. he cuts into their dance because he's desperate. when he runs after her carriage, he asks her if she has been proposed to, because he would not have touched her otherwise. he confesses his feelings to her only when he knows that she hasn't gotten engaged to debling, and when she says "but we are friends" he moves away. nothing more. he would have let her go, if she did not return his feelings.

idk whether i should be flattered or offended at people misunderstanding this season because on one hand it is offensive, but on the other hand, it means only smart people get polin. seriously. your minds have been rotted by insta-love and enemies to lovers that you can't even appreciate the innate beauty of friends to lovers. being friends with someone and then holding all those feelings for them. the trepidation of possible rejection. the fulfillment of being loved by the person who knows you the best of them all. the privilege of loving someone whose feelings you know better than your own. love is gentle and kind and yes it is a violent, uprooting force but above all, love does not hurt anyone. it does not hurt you. i could love someone quietly for years and it wouldn't bother me if their feelings were requited or not because my feelings are none of their business and i consider it a privilege to love and be loved by them, even if it is not in the way i would want it to be. polin are privileged in the highest sense. they know each other better than anyone else, they know how to love each other better than anyone else. to think they are rushed or they dont deserve each other is a disservice to both of them. they would be miserable with anyone else.

in other matters, if i see one more person talking smack about luke or nicola behind the safety of their screens i will personally get a bazooka.

hating on game of thrones in current year is a bit cringe like girl move on etc. However my complaints are more specific than the average person so I can at least feel like I'm bringing something new to the table. Instead of writing the one bilionth 'they butchered dany we were robbed' post I'm instead going on coke rants about how they character assasinated jaime by making him unfunny and how they didn't give my favorite irrelevant minor characters enough emotional depth and actually now that I'm saying it out loud that sounds worse

Look I'm just saying in the finale one of the brothers was forlorn and talked about missing Castiel while the other was happily eating pie and dismissively said that he missed Castiel too and then proceeded to continue to happily eat pie and maybe JUST MAYBE it would've made more sense for Castiel to profess love for the brother actively mourning him

The Stars are the immensity of the universe that is way bigger than any kind of human hybris, this thing is so much bigger than us, yet we are a little portion of it. We don’t own space space own us, and by far.

The transformers of course is every problematic with AI along with Theseus’s ship. You know the whole replacing parts of yourself until you are not you anymore, or are you ? (There’s a lot of my character with this thematic but I haven’t draw them I fucking drew TRANSFORMERS)

And the Bird ? The other. The totally different society, they have wings. They don’t fucking care about humanity, they exist on their own and even if I made them look like us ? This is not about us really. It’s them and their traditions and their own specie and world and stories. We don’t even really know them, we can’t, we just exist somehow in the same very large world. They may look like us and act like us, but we human are only the sketch made in order to create this specie.

when will people understand that skinny shaming is a thing and that it is as wrong as any type of shaming? stop telling us to eat. stop telling us to gain weight. stop telling us that we're anorexic and should start taking care of ourselves. well in fact stop telling whatever you may think about our appearance. many of us aren't skinny by choice and if you're uncomfortable with our pointy bones then stop looking at us or deal with it! friendly reminder that inclusivity doesn't only work for larger body types. you never know what struggles lie behind a frail silhouette, but shaming will never ever be the solution

Listen. I DO love Mark, but I don’t understand why we’re all acting like he’s such a prize in the first place, to the point we need to have wars about it. I mean I think under ideal circumstances he could be a great bf/husband, but he’s got a loooot of issues that get in the way, and it’s unfair to his partner.

What if neither Helly nor Gemma are with Mark at the end of the show?? What then? What if Mark works on himself for a while. Goes on some adventures with Devon (and maybe Ricken if he turns his shit around, but unlikely). Does some hard work on his trauma around baby stuff and falls in love with being Eleanor’s uncle. Maybe finds a therapist that has NEVER been affiliated with Lumon once they’ve all duly burnt the company to the ground.
