I remember when I had a friend from Denmark she sent me a bunch of licorice candy and I tried so hard to be appreciative and thankful however actual licorice tastes like demonic asscrack if you didn't grow up on it, yet everyone pretends it's great. So yeah that feels Tyler adjacent. Equivalent to some random dude accidentally walking in on Tyler's sermon and being like, hey what the fuck

As for the narrator I think he should be whatever is the most average and mediocre candy in your area. Completely mid. Like, not terrible, but you'd never go out of your way to eat it, and the experience is always — not good, not bad. Maybe someone out there is real obsessed with them and that's why they stay in business. For me that's like, a Crunch bar

not really an edit but feels like it: I got to the end of writing this and realized I mentally swapped gummie out for candy as a whole. Sadly gummies are not super popular where I am so there is not a vast number to choose from but I think both Tyler and the narrator would be stale gummies from a gas station
