This fanfiction is born from my dissatisfaction with the way Kai was criminally underutilized in the TVDU. Honestly, I found him annoying at first, but he grew on me as season 6 went on. Thru Chris Wood's charming performance, Kai stole the show for me. I'll never forgive the showrunners for a lot of things, including underutilizing Chris Wood in this role & not allowing this broken king to have a real redemption arc.

On the topic of the showrunners, I'll never forgive them for how they did Bonnie Bennett or the Bennetts in general with how they were limited to magical plot devices for everyone else's use without any appreciative focus on their power & how it could really benefit them. Even though I love Bonnie & Kai, my otp endgame for her has always been Bonenzo, but I also adore Klonnie ❤️.

My AU changed and added plenty of lore around his coven & certain events. The plot follows the life of Bonnie's younger sister, Rosalina "Rose" Bennett-Ruiz. I go on to describe her below, but I'd like to state that she acts as Kai's antithesis as an innocent, fledgling witch. She's also Bonnie's support system. I always hated how the show often ignored that Bonnie lacked family around her that were unconditionally there for her. Bonnie's mom left when she was small, she lost her grams in season 1, and her father was a non-factor in her life until he returned... just to get killed off in front of her.

I wrote Rose & Bonnie's dynamic keeping in mind everything I hate about older sibling/younger sibling dynamics, like the one between Buffy and Dawn in BTVS. Bonnie deserves family that consistently supports her, encourages her to prioritize her well-being, and actually tries to lessen the existing load on her shoulders.

Another thing I kept in mind when adding Rose to my TVD AU is not to have her replace or take away Bonnie’s space in the plot. Now, I do give her Bonnie's plotline of being sent to the prison world in season 6, but this is essential to the story, and the way Bonnie was treated that season made me so sad that I have no problem taking traumatic experiences from her (of which she has more than enough) and giving them to Rose.

Rose was raised in Summersville, North Carolina. She was a child model until 13 when her father tragically died. She was the captain of her high school majorette dance team. Her life drastically changed when Bonnie arrived on her doorstep.

Rose was 16 when she & Bonnie would finally meet. Bonnie and Elena came to Abby for help with a spell. Rose was shocked to find that she had an older sister as Abby never mentioned Bonnie or the life she left behind in Mystic Falls. She was even more surprised upon finding out about her magical bloodline and that supernatural creatures walked the earth. Unlike Grams, Abby never mentioned magic throughout Rose’s life and even went as far to suppress her magic with a charmed necklace

After Abby is turned by Damon, she decides to leave her family to learn control and find peace as a fledgling vampire. Rose moves to Mystic Falls with Bonnie where she learns magic from her.

Magic doesn’t come naturally to her. Admittedly having a 50% accuracy rate with her spells. She struggles with her confidence & focus when chanting and spells drain her much quicker even when she tries channeling the energy around her. Despite this, Rose is determined to improve, valuing her one-on-one time with Bonnie and spending late nights on her own practicing & memorizing spells. She is determined to use her magic for good, prove herself and lessen the load on Bonnie as the resident Bennett witch of the group.

Her role in the Mystic Falls gang is the “Bennett witch in training” or “the bringer of baked goods” (according to Damon), since she often supplies their gatherings with fresh pastries. Everyone underestimates her power, even Bonnie. She tries to keep Rose out of danger unless she can’t help it.

Can be hard to read but that’s because he struggles with expressing his emotions which stems from his abusive childhood. He’s cold and relatively unfeeling with people, but once he lets someone in, he’s fiercely loyal and protective.

He can be observant, calculating and manipulative to taking advantage of someone and get what he wants

He’s a sassy man, often comes back with quick quips and has a natural sense of humor (typically dark humor)

When he’s comfortable, he never shuts up, has no filter and sucks with certain social cues. After being alone for nearly his whole life, will talk anyone's ear off without realizing they are not willing to listen

Kai can siphon all of a witch’s magic without killing them. He controls how the process feels - at its worst, a fast searing burn to a slight tingle. Overtime, a witch will regenerate their magic

High libido!!- He’s starved for touch and affection (though he would never admit that he needs anyone). Sexual desires reflect his sadistic personality as he enjoys dominating another person through absolute control and pain infliction

He likes raunchy comedies and media with half-naked women such as Bay Watch and MTV videos. A major foodie with constant cravings for sweet and salty snacks. He prefers snacking throughout the day but when he does bother to cook, it’s really good

He is fluent in old Latin, often found in grimoires and other ancient texts. When he was young he’d get his hands on old grimoires and study them, all the time to himself allowing him to hone his knowledge of witchcraft and technique

Background:

The Parker family is the head of the Gemini coven. Its patriarch, Joshua Parker is the coven leader. Kai is the eldest child, being half an hour older than his fraternal twin, Josette. Unlike Jo, Kai was born without the ability to generate his own magic, instead siphoning magic from lingering spells, objects, or other witches. When he was young, he would naturally gravitate toward the magic of his sister, so Joshua quickly decided to physically isolate Kai from everyone for fear of his son's "defect" hurting others.

As fraternal twins born of the coven leader, Jo and Kai would be set to merge on their 22nd birthday, where the winner takes the other's magic and coven leadership and the loser dies and is absorbed into the other but with the risk of Kai's siphoning ability giving him an edge in the merge, Joshua and Viviane continued having kids until she birthed another set of twins that would merge instead.

Kai's upbringing was lonely, spending most of his time locked in his bedroom up in the attic. Following his father's lead, most of his family excluded and demonized him. As he grew, Kai learned to internalize the cruel labels they gave him. If they wanted a monster, they would get a monster and on his 22nd birthday, May 9th, 1994, he would finally act on his boiling rage and resentment toward his family, unleashing the hatred he accumulated through a lifetime of torment onto his siblings when Jo refused the merge. To protect the twins, she would relent to merge with him but the coven was waiting and with the help of Sheila Bennett they banished him to a prison world of complete isolation.

Each year that passed only added to his hunger for revenge, left with nothing to do but plan his escape and seizer of coven leadership. He grew to take pride in what he had done to his siblings and his status as a sociopath capable of killing anyone who gets in his way without remorse.

AU-Specific Lore:

Prison world Lore:

The prison world resets with the eclipse every 3 months.

Time works differently, so no one ages throughout their time there.

The prison world cannot create life so the only living inhabitants are those sent there or arrive via ascendant.

Kai is linked to the prison world so he can’t die. If something kills him, he’ll be out for a while depending on the damage but the magic will heal him back to life. Without Kai, the prison world falls apart so while he’s there, it sustains his life to sustain itself. Once he leaves, it ceases to exist.

The Ascendant - an ancient device created by the Gemini coven and a Bennett ancestor that only responds to a living Bennett’s blood and magic. The ascendant is sensitive to magic in general, so even when the spell is done right, it will activate then fall apart. You only have one chance at the time of the eclipse to correctly do the spell, which Kai knows from experience because early on he tried collecting a vial of Bennett blood that he hunted down in a hospital and using Josette's magic he siphoned from a hidden dagger. Disappointment boiled over into rage when he did the spell beneath the eclipse, the ascendant disassembled, but he was not transported out.

The Gemini Coven Lair:

Exists as a non-physical location where the coven keeps ancient texts, grimoires, enchanted items (talismans, gems, ascendants, etc.), and materials for spells & potions

Infinite space that can be utilized by the coven leader: often includes a space for magic instruction, a library, spell casting, a gathering area for the coven, etc.

Accessed only by portal, which is summoned by a spell entrusted to high-ranking Gemini members

I am keeping the emotional core of River Ripple being a peaceful hippy... with a twist

NO CLAN is allowed to sit out the First Battle. Unlike canon, all Five are locked and loaded at that fateful event, and thus, will be getting setup before then.

Park Cats are the other cultural group present in the area. About 2 years ago, the Park was destroyed and all of its cats followed the river to White Hart Wood. They've been here since then. River Ripple was only a baby at the time-- Heir of Arc, king of the Park Cats, legendary leader who lead his people to a new land.

River Kingdom is loosely associated 'fiefdom' that lives beyond the river. The cats there are all beholden to Arc, but are allowed to sort of do their own thing on the territory as long as they understand Arc has final authority. River Ripple, meanwhile, is currently a bit of a good-for-nothing.

He just wants to swim and chill. Not a fighter, he's a lover, doesn't really want all that responsibility, y'know. Lazy prince type. Has natural charisma and mysterious ways, but doesn't like conflict.

While Thunder Storm is staying in Sky's Clan, he goes to the riverbank for some alone time and roasts himself up a mouse. They don't speak the same language yet --Thunder speaks Tribemew and River speaks Parkmew, the two mother languages of Clanmew-- but Thunder Storm knows what salivating means. So, no big deal, y'know? Passes the wet guy his mouse and roasts up a new one.

Clear Sky did not like this, but River leaps back into the water and can't be caught. He does remember the hot food and the kindness though.

After Thunder Storm saves Bumble, she becomes his MOST IMPORTANT asset, because she is Trilingual. She speaks Tribemew, Parkmew, and her mother tongue is Townmew.

(Bumble and Turtle were also mates, explicitly. Turtle escaped Tom and Bumble followed shortly after.)

So Thunder gets to work on diplomacy with River Kingdom across the river, and the Wind Coalition jokingly referred to on this blog as the tri-state area to the north. Wind Coalition doesn't really work out super well, but River Kingdom does, thanks to Thunder Storm's breaking of the bread.

Eventually, Clear Sky Clear Skies and like canon, they are calling for a diplomatic meeting. But this time, he takes a political hostage. River Ripple. It's not Jackdaw's Cry, he is starving the prince of a rival group.

And THAT is how River Kingdom gets involved in the First Battle! Arc brought his strongest warriors because Clear Sky was holding his HEIR hostage. They were forced to break their neutrality.

So River, I don't imagine my version's personality is super different from canon! I'm just giving him more stuff. More roles and politics behind him, while keeping him as the laidback, non-confrontational dude I like so much.

• Eden Fables: The Inkweaver's Diary - (*NOT WRITING ALONE) So this one i won't give much detail, just know that me and my friends we're going absolutely insane over this book and the entire possible series and is our child, you're not fucking ready. The best fantasy book i ever written in my life TRUST ME. Blame Tolkien and C.S Lewis for inspiring us so much- (sorry for the vague synopsis muahahahah) A story of a boy displaced in time and space as he finds his heart and returns to his throne, finding a family along the way while dealing with the craziest adventures.

• Boreal City (future comic :O) - A retrofuturistic cyberpunk super-hero universe about many different points ot view and adventures that are actually connected (like the Marvel Comics universe or DC comics). Its being one of my favorites so far im having so much fun doing it hehe

Its very inspired by many superhero and retro-cyberpunk media, i cant count here how many hehe Synopsis (for at least one of the stories): From a family of superheroes, turned into a villain by his own demise, and disappearing for 5 years, GlitchWave makes his stupendous comeback in an unexpected redemption arc, and it all starts when he meets his brother again.....

• Gritia's Great Mystery - An amazing story about a corrupt kingdom trying to hide all evidence that god exists, aside from other...cruel crimes against certain groups of people. The aesthetic is a mix of enlightnment era, renassaice and victorian age, all together mixed with elements of thriller, romance, mystery and BIG drama. Maybe one of my most serious stories, since i wont hold back in the critics n shit

The Crown Family of Gritia, for centuries, tries to make the existence of the Mighty King, aka god, a tabboo, or even erase him from all existence, alongside his followers. Anything that goes astray the status quo is suscetible of punishment (or worse....)

That makes Spencer's life a bit complicated, even if he doesnt know abt the Mighty King's existence, he's part of a secret society...lets see where this goes right?

Btw Sum details about west Asian pines: Stan n ford are second gen Armenian immigrants n both of them were thaught to be bilingual however ford eventually forgot over time. The kids have Iranian and Lebanese roots from the mother's side of the family and it basically made Stan learn Arabic and Farsi inorder to communicate w the kids and their family (Mabel is ENG/IR/ARM trilingual while dipper is ENG/ARM bilingual.) Sidenote this is not an au and it is my hcs for the pines. Totally not biased and based of myself 😁

PARENTING #1.

Aizawa and Nishiki both agreed to treat each other's kids as if they were his own. We share everything else, why not? They are still siblings after all. This way is much less confusing, we think. Of course, the kids know which daddy is their father but that doesn't change the fact that they're both father figures for the three of them.

AIZAWA -Gets saddled with the discipline stuff because Akira is easily swayed by those wet brown eyes. Masa's much harder to persuade (and boy does Rin try to babble himself out of trouble)

-Kind but still very firm when he has to correct behavior. Sometimes he doesn't even have to say anything. He could just go, "Touma..." in a very calm, deep voice and Touma will burst into tears because he knows he's in trouble lol

-'It takes a village' style of parenting- He wants all hands on deck at all times. He thinks there's too many people in the house for there to be any slacking. Every person has their strengths and he expects them to use them. (Bad days are respected, of course.)

-Referred to as Papa Masa by the twins

-Is very adamant about teaching Touma Portuguese. (All the kids are learning English as well but the main household language spoken is Japanese. My little boy is gonna be a trilingual king when he grows up.)

-Has a ton of respect for Akira's parenting methods and never goes over his head on things revolving around the twins. He always consults him.

-Is currently working on his temper to teach Touma how to have more emotional control since it's obvious who he inherited that trait from

NISHIKI -HORRIBLE at disciplining any of the kids but he's the worst about Izumi. It's like she's got him under mind control or something. That little girl could get away with murder if I turned a blind eye to them

-If he does happen to correct behaviors, he's quick to sweep it under the rug or laugh it off. It hurts to scold them. So, when they're really bad and something needs to be done, he'll run to me or Masa for back up. He's just no match for them damn kids and their pouts

-Is the fun parent for sure. It's always play time, always snack time, and never nap time (at least not scheduled naps, he prefers to let them play until they crash)

-There used to be a point where he had a terrible habit of prioritizing the twins and unconsciously leaving Touma out, but once he realized what he'd done he owned up to it and he's been better ever since

-Works really well with me when tag teaming on various responsibilities, no problem. He knows that he can rely on Masa but he tries not to leave too much to him if he can help it. Maybe it's a pride thing. Maybe he just wants to feel he's pulling his own weight, not sure.

-Touma calls him Papa Aki

-Is learning how to speak English so that he can someday speak it with the twins

-Rarely consults with Masato before making decisions that include Touma and would rather deal with the consequences later (would never put Touma in harm's way so Masa doesn't really mind)

Let’s talk about my country, shall we?

General    Where is your country?

In Western Europe. The area is commonly known as Benelux.

   How big is your country?

30,528 km2. It’s tiny.

   What is the population of your country?

More than 11.5 million.

   How would you describe the landscape?

Mostly flat with no real forests on the north, more forests and hills on the south.

   Which part of your country do most people live in?

Flanders. It’s smaller than Wallonia, yet more populated.

   Tell me about the main industries there.

Metallurgy, steel, textiles, chemicals, glass, paper, and food processing.

   How easy is it to travel around your country?

Pretty easy. Except that De Lijn and NMBS are faulty sometimes, most of the time they go. And you can move within the country easily, especially that it’s so small.

Food and drink    What is the food like in your country? Is it based around meat, fish or vegetables?

Our cuisine seems to be “borrowed” from Dutch and French, but we have our own dishes as well. It’s based on all three. My favourite is waterzooi, it’s a dish native to the city of Ghent and made of vegetables and chicken or fish, cooked in cream.

   What agricultural products are produced by your country?

Dairy for sure; eggs, butter, and milk. Timber industry as well.

   What traditional dishes are served in your country? Which is your favorite? What’s the recipe?

I’ve mentioned waterzooi, which is my absolute favourite. Not to mention fries and waffles. We have two main types of waffles, the Liège waffle and the Brussels waffle, among others. The Liège waffle is dense and very sweet, with cristal sugar. The Brussels waffle is lightweight, less sweet, and shaped like rectangle. Real Belgian fries are baked twice. We have things like Cuberdon candies, rijstevlaai, ontbijtkoek, steak with fries (very common here), chicons au gratin (chicory with white sauce and cheese), stoofvlees (beef stew cooked in beer, if I’m not wrong),  moules-frites (mussels cooked in onions and served with fries),  paling in 't groen (eel with green herbs sauce), or filet américain (also known as préparé, it’s our version of tartar steak). These are what I remember from the top of my head.

   What drinks is your country famous for?

Beer, hands down. We have over 2000 types of beer, no kidding. We also drink wine, but it’s not really ours.

Beer and probably jenever. Wait, jenever is ours for sure.

Fries are not from France, they’re from Belgium. They’ve been introduced to Americans by Wallonian soldiers.

Brussels - the city of two languages. Antwerp - the city of diamonds (and of infamous reputation among Belgians lol). Bruges - the city of bridges. Leuven - the city of universities. Hasselt - the city of food and drinks. Ghent - the city of architecture. Can’t say much about the Wallonian cities because I’m much less familiar with them. Although I’m fond of less known (and definitely underrated) cities like Kortrijk, Sint-Niklaas, Veurne, or Nieuwpoort. Or even Oostende.

   What special attractions can be found in each city?

Museums, that’s for sure. Architecture, that’s another thing.

Sports and games    What is the most popular sport in your country? How do you play it?

Football and cycling. How do people play it? Like everywhere else.

Both inline skating and cricket were apparently invented by Belgians.

   When is the best time to watch them?

Whenever, I don’t care much. Esoecially when there are cycling competitions through my city.

Apparently pretty well.

Yeah, football is The Sport in here. The Red Devils, enough said.

Weather    What is the weather like?

Mellow. Hardly ever above 20°C and below 0°C. Mostly rainy, although we can experience “all four seasons” in one day. Thunderstorms seem to be common here at summer. It rarely snows in winter.

   Is the weather very different in different parts of the country?

No, actually not. It’s more likely to snow in Ardennes, though.

There’s nothing to describe, all the same.

   What is the best time to visit?

Lol. Summer for the beach, winter for Christmas markets. The city I live in is a damn tourist spot.

Dutch, French and German are the official languages here, although German is the minority.

Dutch and Arabic lol. We have lots of immigrants.

Well, in Flanders everyone is like “but you know, my English is not very good...” and yet in the end they’re able to hold a conversation with you XD such a phenomenon. In Wallonia, though, it’s French or nothing.

Yes, they are. ut at the same time we’re pretty reserved. Even when visiting a friend, you have to announce yourself first.

Horseback fishing in Oostduinkerke? That’s the first thing that came to my mind immediately.

History    What can you tell me about the history of your country?

Congo. Nothing to brag about.

For more history, I’d suggest visiting places like Lommel, Sint-Niklaas, Waterloo or Ieper. Or Dinant.

Yep, from the Netherlands. Declared 4 October 1830, recognised 19 April 1839.

I wanna apologize - I think my use of the word "multilingual" instead of bi/trilingual hit a nerve? I got it from the angle that in Canon he handles/reads Crusader documents and talks to King Richard, suggesting he's got at least some level of fluency in English and possibly French given the historical context and it wouldnt be impossible to learn as an adult in any era, though it may be more difficult. I didn't. Mean to sound like a "oh he speaks 10 languages" person. Just. Thought it would be less confusing to say multi instead of bi/trilingual
