Hello everyone and hope your week is going well? Today I’m sharing another shelf of books in my (giant) collection and I’d love to chat to you about them! I organise my shelves alphabetically by author surname and then I also have some favourites shelves, some nonfiction shelves and a TBR shelf! This is the top shelf of one of my bookcases and it holds some hefty hardbacks (the Wolf Hall trilogy), some hardbacks I need to read - Animal and The Dust Never Settles, a book I’ve read and now lives on my favourites shelf (Great Circle), some Bronte special editions and my beautiful monkey bookends which Mr B found for me in an antique shop. You can’t really see because it’s blocked (too many books right? 😂) but I also have a canvas picture of my sweet springer spaniel Mac who is sadly no longer with us but who will always have a special place in my heart. Do you have any reading goals for 2021? 📚 I never set a numeric reading goal for myself, but I do always have some kind of intentions in mind. I plan to continue last year's goal of accepting/requesting fewer review books (& being more thoughtful in the ones I do accept/request). Last year, I was also a lot better about buying books & continuing that into this year, my biggest goal is to read more from my existing stash of unread books. . . I purged some of my TBR books a few months ago, so I feel like my shelves are at a reasonable place. I'm hoping to read at least one book per month from my TBR shelves, which are a mix of YA (shown here) & adult romance. I’m so excited to read these two books this month 🥰. My only problem is deciding on which one I should start first 😁. To be honest I’m probably going to start The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin first. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this book and my expectations are very high, so I’m ready to jump right into this book. We are finally all moved into our new home in Arizona, and my library is now unpacked and organized. I have my classics, my research books, all of my YA and NA and other fiction titles, my screenwriting and storytelling books, and my mystery thrillers all on the shelves. Good evening from the UK 🇬🇧 everyone and hope you’re all doing okay. Today I thought I’d join in with the #bookstagramtag which I saw on the lovely @tillylovesbooks page. Here we go! When did you start your bookstagram? 18th August 2015 according to IG! Why did you start a bookstagram? To be honest it was probably because I missed the wonderful community and the interactions with bookish folk but didn’t want the pressure of blogging. I’m really glad I carried it on! What inspired your user name? It’s the name I used for my blog, I wanted a bookish reference and bibliobeth seemed to go together quite nicely ☺️ What was the first review you ever posted? Oh dear, I dread to think! On my blog it was Boy by Roald Dahl. Favourite part of bookstagram Easy peasy - the people. I’ve made friends for life, had unforgettable buddy reads and heard about books that I wouldn’t usually come across. Bookstagram made me buy… EVERYTHING. And I’m not joking 🤣 What is your favourite bookstagram tag? Probably obvious to those who know me well but easily #bookhaul it’s my most used anyway 🙈 What is your bookstagram aesthetic? Here’s where I get a bit embarrassed - I don’t really have one! 🫢 I use my tub chair for hauls as it’s a pretty material, I love using candles and plants and try to take pics outside wherever possible. I see so many amazing bookstagrammers doing incredible things but I don’t think I have the creativity or the patience, what you see is what you get with me! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Recent faves? I was asked by a friend — that would be you, @chinweilien — how I arranged my bookshelves. Do I do it by author? Books read and unread? By colour (who the heck does them this way?!)? Genre? Fiction or nonfiction? Alphabetical? Answer: None of the above. As you can see from these photos, books go randomly onto the bookshelves without order. Unread and read books are mixed together, so do authors, colors, genres. I like it this way because too much orderliness freaks me out and I’m as liable to reread a favourite as to pick a new one, depending on my mood. Also, so all the books can talk to each other and become friends. 😝 The books are also not limited to the bookshelves. Happy #ShelfieSunday friends! 🌈 I don't think I've shown off these shelves before. These are my new TBR shelves, next to my side of the bed in our master bedroom. So basically, this is the last thing I see at night and the first thing I see in the morning. 😍 (Except blurry, because I wear contacts/glasses & am blind without them.) . . This is probably my favorite of the new shelf set-ups after we dismantled my library to make a 2nd nursery for one of our twins. It's colorful and comforting, and I was able to display some of my favorite bookish art and pin hoops. This photo is actually a couple months old, so there aren't usually fresh flowers there. And the books on the very top change -- that's where I keep track of my monthly TBR, books I've read so-far each month, and upcoming ARCs/most likely to read next books. (And pregnancy/parenting books right now, too.) Plus some of my favorite bookish candles for burning while I read. . .
