Intro Post!
Tumblr media
Hi! My name is Juno, and I’m a pokemon zoologist and trainer from Nacrene City, Unova! Right now, I work at the Nacrene City Museum doing pokemon zoology research, but my true passion lies in battling. I went through the gym circuit, but I never challenged the Elite Four or champion. I hope to get on that level someday and become the champion myself, as well as continue to learn more about pokemon through my studies!
Please feel free to ask me any questions about pokemon zoology!
Let me introduce you to my team!
- Puff the Whimsicott- My first pokemon! I caught her as a Cottonee in Pinwheel forest as a ten year old and she’s been my partner ever since. Very mischievous and loves hiding in my flowers and scaring me and my other pokemon.
-Gelato the Glaceon- A real heavy hitter, but you wouldn’t know that from his demeanor! He was the shyest little Eevee, but as he evolved he really came into his own. He was definitely the MVP of my team when I went through the Unova gym challenge! His name comes from his absolute obsession with casteliacones and ice cream.
- Gremlin the Sableye- this little kleptomaniac would always rummage through the junk electronic parts in my yard, and eventually took a liking to Puff the Cottonee (those two are partners in crime now, to the detriment of literally everyone around them lol) It took a while, but he eventually decided he wanted me as his trainer, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
- Static the Ampharos- I caught Static as a Flaafy on a trip to Johto! She really took a liking to me, and is the cuddliest little guy. She does tend to give off electric shocks when she’s excited, which is very cute, but I have learned the hard way I can’t keep her around any of my research equipment!
- Spade the Excadrill- I hatched this guy from an egg! The nursery on route 3 had an egg that nobody had claimed, so I decided to raise it! Spade likes to act all tough and intimidating , but he’s a massive softy who loves belly rubs. He enjoys digging for gems and giving them to Gemlin to eat!
- Chirp the Altaria- She’s the most elegant pokemon around and she knows it. I found her as a Swablu strutting her stuff and singing for anyone to listen, and while everyone else found it annoying, I found it charming. She loved that I appreciated her song and followed me everywhere I went until I caught her! She’s a powerhouse on the battlefield.

Day 24 - Books
Emmet and Eelektross are chilling out at the Nacrene City Museum Library!
Tumblr media
I thought it was funny how a book about trains was part of Lenora's gym challenge in BW. This is the same book that Emmet is reading in the picture!

Some more info about the Legends Arceus AU :]
- Pac and Mike run the Battle Subway, Pac is responsible for double battles while Mike deals with the single line
- Bagi is the gym leader of Nimbasa, but instead of a rollercoaster themed gym for electric type, its a fun house type with enigmas to solve to get to her, the Psychic Gym Leader
- Cellbit and Bagi at first fought to get the position, but then Cellbit gave up because he got accepted to work at the Nacrene museum, he loves to be sent to Relic Castle for research
- Tubbo moved from Sinnoh recently after his own pokemon adventure, he now works in the Battle Subway as well, aiming for the position of Subway Boss one day
- Quackity works in Castelia at the battle company, it's not the best job ever but gives enough money. He and Cellbit used to be rivals during their respective pokemon journeys but now these two have weekly meetings to get castelia cones and shit talk their respective coworkers
- Sometimes Pac, Mike and Bagi join in too to crash at Quackity's apartment since he's the only one with enough money to have a big apartment (Bagi constantly donates most of the money she gets as a gym leader to fund the museum and the nature preserve)
- Soon enough, they all adopt Tubbo into their group when he moves to Nimbasa and is the fastest person to complete Bagi's puzzles in years and beats both simple lines with record time
- Felps lives with Cellbit in Nacrene city, he works at the city's cafe and basically followed Cellbit there when he moved to work at the museum. They're childhood besties

BBA Summer Camp: Week 3
Tumblr media
The event schedule for the third and final week of summer camp! (Also, because of some delay stuff from earlier the camp will be ending on the 18th instead of the 15th.)
Day 1- Flying Race: Any trainers with flying Pokemon are invited to participate in a race around the Canyon and Polar biomes! If you don't have one, that's fine- you're welcome to borrow one of the Magnezone trained by Amarys.
Day 2- Group Training: Our final group training session, once again hosted by Blake. This time we'll be focusing on double battle strategies!
Day 3- Pokemon Portraits: We'll be painting portraits of our Pokemon in the art room as our final creative project!
Day 4- Beach Day: As the week comes to a close, we'll be having a small get together in the Coastal Biome to wind down and relax on the beach.
Day 5- Field Trip: This year we've arranged something a bit different for the final big event- a trip to the Nacrene City Museum on the mainland! Travel tickets will be paid for, and any minors planning to attend will be given permission slips to have their parents sign.
Day 6- Final Day of Camp: Another exciting summer camp comes to a close! We'll mostly be spending this day getting prepared for the start of school next week while any campers get ready to head back home, but in the afternoon we'll have an activity where everyone can come and make a photo book with any pictures they may have gotten over the course of camp.

Pokemon Black Retrospective, from the perspective of someone who became bored with it on their first playthrough
To preface this, this is technically not my first time playing Pokemon Black? I did play it once before, back in mid 2020, before I started PMD Rescue Team DX. I quickly got very bored with it, though, and stopped playing before I made it to Striaton City.
If you'd like to read my other mainline Pokemon retrospectives, you can read Emerald here, X here, and Firered here.
Pokemon Black was a strange one for me.
Like I mentioned in the preface, I didn't like it much on my first playthrough. I grew bored of it before I even reached the first gym.
And yet, in the years from then until now, I kept hearing about how it was apparently the greatest that mainline Pokemon had ever been. How it was the pinnacle of the franchise.
I didn't think much of it, until I started my mainline Pokemon marathon, and realized that I would have to give Pokemon Black another go.
I completed Emerald, then X, then Firered, having differing opinions on each. And for the most part, I was having fun! So, maybe if I tried Black again, I'd have fun with it too?
I decided that it was finally time, and I started a new game of Pokemon Black.
Like with my first playthrough, I chose Oshawott as my starter, having gotten much more attached to the species since then, thanks to my PMD OC Gen.
I named my Oshawott Arbaquo, after a neglected Oshawott-Shaymin hybrid OC of mine.
And so, I began my journey through the Unova region, hoping to see it through to the end this time.
The journey up to Striaton wasn't much to write about, but Accumula Town was cute, especially with the musicians adding instruments to the background music. The first battle with N was also neat, but I'll get to him later.
But once I made it to Striaton, I had surpassed my 2020 self, making it farther than I ever had. And I was immediately curbstomped by Cheren three times in a row.
It wasn't until I was told that I could visit the Dreamyard before fighting the Striaton gym did I manage to level up Arbaquo a bit, acquired my second Pokemon, Minro the Pansear, and was able to defeat Cheren.
Then was the Striaton gym, but with Minro by my side, obtaining the Trio Badge from Cilan was mostly easy.
Then was the encounter with Team Plasma in the Dreamyard. I had heard talk of this moment several times, but it was still a shock to see it.
It makes sense, though. Despite the name of the game, this isn't a black and white story. As my friend Icy said, this moment shows the unscrupulous lengths people go to when they are truly dedicated to a cause.
After that, dream mist secured, I returned to Striaton City, and unlocked a feature that would probably have been really cool if it was still available. Unfortunately, it is no longer available, and so I can only imagine what it would have been like.
I then made my way along Route 3, where I had another encounter with Team Plasma, though not much else happened aside from me catching a Pidove as my third team member. I named him Poliner.
Nacrene City was interesting! I found it neat how the whole town was comprised of refurbished warehouse, and there was a second battle with N!
Before this playthrough, my only knowledge of N was fandom osmosis, RP blogs, and a few fanfics, particularly kintsugi's fics. At one point, I considered having him be the human world's Voice of Life, though I decided to give that role to a different character.
It was a completely different experience meeting him through the game as intended, though. I liked him a lot, with how much he said he liked math and said he wanted to be my friend!
After that battle, I tried to battle Lenora, and failed miserably. I tried again, and failed miserably again. It took several tries, but eventually I was able to defeat her.
I had no idea that Team Plasma would try to steal from the museum, nor that they thought that the Dragonite skull was part of the legendary dragon. It's kinda silly in retrospect, but this was something completely new to me. I was intrigued.
Plus, Burgh was here! I didn't think I'd encounter him until Castelia City, but here he was!
Pinwheel Forest was when I decided to activate the infinite rare candy cheat so that I wouldn't have to grind. It was a nice leisurely stroll, aside from the Plasma grunts, but I didn't want to get stuck having to grind later.
Soon, the stolen Dragonite skull was retrieved, and I could continue on to Castelia City.
Between Pinwheel Forest and Castelia City, though, was Skyarrow Bridge. It was really cool seeing the bridge in its full glory, the camera panning around and all sorts of cool perspective shots!
Castelia City continued with the cool perspective shots, with the city being like a mini-Lumiose, complete with side areas and back alleys. It was a lot to take in, but it was cool!
Not so cool was the fact that the EXP Share was still a held item that only worked on a single Pokemon. That battle house was neat, at least.
Burgh's gym was...something, to say the least, but he was an easier foe than Lenora, and I acquired my third badge.
After another encounter with Team Plasma, I made my way to the desert of Route 4, and was accosted by a sandstorm.
Like with Hoenn's desert, the weather chipped away at my Pokemon's health with every battle, making the route a test in how many battles I could avoid.
Eventually, though, I made it through, emerging into Nimbasa City.
It had just as many things to do as Castelia, despite being a bit smaller.
But before any of that (at least I think, this might have happened after the gym, I can't entirely remember), there was the fabled Ferris Wheel scene with N.
While it didn't quite live up to all the hype, it was still really cool! It was a fun way of explaining a bit more about N.
After that battle, I got to explore Nimbasa proper.
Honestly, I don't get the purpose of the Small Court and Big Stadium? As far as I could tell, they both just had one trainer battle each and that was it.
The Musical Theater was fun, though! I had fun dressing up Arbaquo for a musical, and the music was nice! It felt sorta like the contests from Emerald.
Then was the Nimbasa Gym, a rollercoaster of a time. Literally.
The trainers were actually harder than Elesa herself, but she was still a challenge, since half my team was weak to her. But Minro had recently learned a new fire-type move, and put it to great use here.
Seriously, why do people dislike the elemental monkeys?
Anyways, after the gym, I set out onto Route 5, where I encountered Alder, the champion.
Like in X, the champion here is more than just a final challenge, but a friend you meet along the way. I find that neat, and Alder's theme music is great.
After making it across Driftveil Drawbridge, I made it into Driftveil City, home of Charles the Heartbreaker.
The rotation battle with him was really fun! It was an interesting and intriguing new way of battle!
But before I could get too comfortable in the city, I had a job to do: Investigate the Cold Storage, and find one of the sages of Team Plasma.
It was a neat ice sliding puzzle area! And I caught a Minccino while I was at it! I named her Minrir.
After finding Zinzolin, it was time to take on the Driftveil City gym! It wasn't too challenging, but Clay was still a fun foe!
Next was the quaint Route 6, where I caught another team member, Daria the Deerling.
Chargestone Cave was really cool! I really enjoyed the puzzles with the floating magnetic rocks, and I caught a Drilbur here, who I named Rilia!
The Team Plasma encounter here was cool, too! It was neat being surrounded by the Shadow Triad to be taken to N, and seeing N clash with Professor Juniper.
But soon, I emerged into Mistralton City, and not a moment too soon, for I had a breakthrough:
I had figured out how to usee my Action Replay to activate mystery gifts, and let me do the Victini event.
Upon activating the code, I received the Liberty Pass from the mystery gift deliverer, and promptly flew back to Castelia City, to see what this event was all about.
It wasn't much, probably because I was way over the level for it, but it was still fun battling the Plasma grunts, learning about Victini, and then battling and catching Victini!
After that little side tangent, I flew back to Mistralton. But before I could challenge the gym, I had to trek up Celestial Tower.
Celestial Tower felt a lot like the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town back in Kanto. It was eerie, spooky, and had possessed trainers too! It was a very fun experience, and I enjoyed the climb.
After meeting with Skyla at the peak of the tower, it was time to go back to Mistralton and challenge her gym.
I thought the stuff I had heard about the cannons in her gym were exaggerated.
They were not exaggerated.
Not only were you shot out of cannons in order to traverse the gym, one of the final cannons shot you face-first into a steel wall. Youch.
But aside from that, Skyla was pretty easy, and I got my sixth badge.
After traveling across the other part of Route 7, and through the Twist Mountain mines, I arrived at the moist Icirrus City.
Gotta say, I was not expecting to be able to encounter wild Pokemon within a city, but I found it neat!
Also neat, if tremendously silly, was the quiz house. I laughed a lot at the question I got, being "What do you call your father's brother", and the hint being "it's not big brother".
But then it was time to face the Icirrus gym.
It was like a souped-up version of Cold Storage, with rotating mechanisms that change your sliding trajectory. It was a really fun puzzle!
But thanks to Minro, Brycen wasn't very tough. And I got my seventh badge.
As we exited the gym, though, who to greet us but Team Plasma? Seeing the Shadow Triad surround us was certainly a surprise, especially with them telling us to go to Dragonspiral Tower.
And so, to Dragonspiral Tower I went.
Dragonspiral Tower reminded me of Sky Pillar from Emerald, with it being more and more crumbled and unstable as you went up. It had a lot of fun navigational challenges as I made my way up to the top!
But I was too late. N had already awakened Zekrom, and now my only hope lay with awakening the legendary dragon of truth, Reshiram.
I really appreciate how, unlike Emerald and Firered, Black tells you where to go. You're not left wandering for hours trying to find the Team Magma base, only for it to be hidden behind a random rock on the other side of the region. Nor are you left to flounder after finding all your available routes blocked by Snorlaxes, only to find out that you had to backtrack to a prior city with no indication.
No, instead, Black directly tells you to head to the Desert Resort.
Speaking of which, the Desert Resort was neat! It was unique among most other decrepit structures I've seen in other mainline Pokemon games, in that you're not going up, but down. Down, down, as far as you can go, to the deepest part of this buried castle. It was really cool!
Alas, this is not where Reshiram was. They were actually right before my eyes all the way back in Nacrene City. Reshiram was the unassuming little stone in the top left part of the museum.
And so, I acquired the stone form of Reshiram, but they were still sealed, with me having no idea how to free them.
I flew back to Icirrus City, and continued onwards, making my way towards Opelucid City. But before I could get there, I had to travel across Tubeline Bridge first.
Let me tell you. It was an experience seeing a figure at the far end of the bridge, thinking, "hey, they look familiar", and as soon as I realize it's Ghetsis, I get surrounded by the Shadow Triad.
And then he tells you his whole secret evil plan. Which, I feel was kinda weird, but alright.
Route 9 was short enough that the shock was still there when I arrived at Opelucid City.
Opelucid City was reallty cool! I loved the look of it all, and the music was great! It even had the first rotation battles I've seen since Heartbreaker Charles!
And after a conversation with Iris and Drayden, it was time to take on my final gym of this game.
The Opelucid Gym was massive, with a really interesting puzzle. It felt almost overwhelming with how big it was, but soon, I made it to the end, to battle Drayden.
It was a fun fight, and his Druddigon gave me quite a bit of trouble. But I won, and got my final badge.
All that was left was to head through Route 10, and take on the Pokemon League...or so the game probably wanted me to think.
Route 10 had some really nice music, and the final rival battles against Cheren and Bianca. I haven't talked about them nearly enough here, so I'll do that now.
Cheren was my first roadblock, the one who curbstomped me three times in a row all the way back in Striaton. It was really neat seeing his character development, seeing him figure out what he wants to do with his life.
Bianca is a similar story. She never curbstomped me, but she had her own character development, that maybe she had a different calling in life than what she once thought. And from what I've heard of B2W2, I think she achieved that calling.
All in all, they're great rivals, and those final battles with them reminded me of the final battles with the Kalos friends, on the last route before its Victory Road.
Fitting, as I was just about to reach Unova's Victory Road.
The badge check gates here were amazing. They were like Kanto's, but with the flavor of Kalos, and dialed up to 11.
Each badge had its own themed area, with the Trio badge having an outdoor dining area, the Legend badge having two dragon statues, and so on. And with each gate i passed through, more instruments were added to the music, until it all came together, forming the music for Unova's Victory Road.
Hoenn's Victory Road was a test of navigation. Kalos' was a test of strength. Kanto's was a test of wit. What, then, would Unova's Victory Road test?
A combination of all three.
I had to use spatial reasoning to figure out what caves went where, and which slopes to slide down. I had to use my sense of direction to make it through the caves, and know when I'm going the wrong way. And I had to use my strength to defeat some of the toughest trainers yet.
It was fantastic, probably my favorite Victory Road yet.
And finally, I had made it to the Pokemon League.
Apparently I was wrong in my X retrospective. Kalos wasn't the first region to let you challenge the Elite Four in any order you wish. Unova lets you do that too.
I unfortunately don't remember much of my matches agaisnt Unova's Elite Four, but they were each very tricky. I had to use a lot of strategy to get past them each. And I remember that the order I fought them in was Shauntal, Grimsley, Marshal, and Caitlin. And some of them had mentioned another challenger, one that came before me.
I defeated them all, though, and was ready to face Champion Alder.
But I never got the chance to, as N had already beaten him first.
It was like a twisted version of the final hour of Firered. Your rival had become champion moments before you.
Only with N, he wasn't planning on a simple battle for the title of champion.
No, as the castle of Team Plasma rose up from the ground, I knew that this would be a battle to decide the fate of the Unova region.
But I had to reach N first, and travel through the castle to get to him.
Black is, as far as I'm aware, the first mainline Pokemon game to do the unthinkable: have the plot take precedence over the journey to become champion. Rather than the game's plot ending at the 7th or 8th gym, like with Emerald, X, and Firered, the ending of the plot is the ending of the game.
It's a lot like Violet in that regard, but I'll talk about that once I write my retrospective on Violet.
Team Plasma's Castle was an experience I won't soon forget. There were no battles until the very end. I was told the story of N and Team Plasma by the Shadow Triad, N's room, and N's siblings.
Anthea and Concordia should have gotten more screentime, yes. But I still like their role here, in how they show you more of what Team Plasma was like, and what drove N to be like this.
But before long, I made it to the throne room, where N waited.
N told me I wasn't ready, that I wasn't worthy, as Reshiram hadn't awakened yet. But before my eyes, the Light Stone began to glow, and Reshiram emerged from it.
I dedideed to use Minro to try to catch Reshiram, since Reshiram would likely be taking their spot on the team for the coming battles. I wanted to let my faithful monkey companion have one more moment in the spotlight.
And they performed wonderfully. Whittling down Reshiram to a tiny sliver of health, enough that I could catch it.
N was my toughest opponent yet, with his team being even higher leveled than the Elite Four.
But I remembered his words from back in Nacrene City, about how, when all of this was over, he wanted to be friends with me.
I think those words are what made this part of the game so emotional to me. I wanted that to come true.
And so, I battled, and I won.
And yet, it wasn't over. Ghetsis came along, and brutally berated N. And then, he challenged me, in a battle that would decide the fate of the Unova region.
He was even tougher than N was. Fitting, as he was my final challenge in the main story of this game. It took everything I had, every single member of my team, to defeat him. By the time I was at his last Pokemon, only Arbaquo was left standing.
But despite the odds, I won. I had defeated Ghetsis.
But before the credits rolled, there was one final cutscene. A conversation from N to me. About how he didn't understand me at first, about how he couldn't understand why a Pokemon had liked me. About how he wanted to battle me, to find out why.
And then, that iconic line came. About making my dreams come true.
I like to think that my character and N became friends.
And so, the credits rolled, ending this game.
I had completed Pokemon Black.
I had so much fun with this game, and I'm so glad I gave it another go. Out of the four I've completed for this marathon so far, it's probably my favorite mainline Pokemon game.
It's not perfect. It had its difficulty spikes, and a few parts of it felt a bit awkward.
But it was fantastic. I love this game, it was fantastic.
I see what the hype is all about now.

Day 12 - Models
The warm and humid air was a welcome change to the cold and dry wind outside, and above the sound of rushing water and excited murmurs, the soft whirring of electric motors echoed around the conservatory.
Lines of tracks were arranged at every exhibit, some nestled between the moss and shrubs while others raised high above the plants and garden beds. And for each line, a little model train happily traveled up and down the path, traveling past miniature landmarks and real-life plants.
“I don’t think I will ever get bored of the sight. It is as if the city has been reclaimed by nature.” Ingo said. He spoke with an uncharacteristic softness but still maintained a sense of wonder. On your other side, Emmet watched as the model train zipped away, traveling over a recreation of Skyarrow Bridge.
“Good thing the trains still work. At least the 4-6-0s do.
“It is a numerical classification system for locomotives.” Ingo must have caught the confused furrow of your brow. He nodded to the train that just went by. “Each number relates to the number of wheels. First the leading wheels-“
“The small ones at the very front.”
“Then the driving wheels…”
“Those are the big ones with the connecting rods.”
“And finally the trailing wheels.”
“The small ones at the back of the engine. This one doesn’t have any. See?”
The model comes back around and you count two small sets of wheels followed by three large ones. Small-big-small.
“Ready for our next stop?” Emmet asked, already linking his arm around yours. Ingo just laughed, watching his brother dragged
you to the next display without hesitation.
A whole yard of tracks ran back and forth under a miniature Nacrene Museum, and Emmet leaned so close to the display that you’re afraid he would fall into it. You tug on his arm and point to the nearest model skittering along.
“Um…0-4-2, right?”
He smiles even wider and squeezes your arm.
“Yep!”
A/N: If I made any mistakes about Whyte Notation, don’t be afraid to send me a correction.

A lot of fossil Pokémon make me immediately think of how the Nacrene City Museum smells... Or really how any library or museum would smell. Like old books... And ✨Knowledge✨
I also kinda imagine how like... Licking a rock would taste. I know that's not very original because, duh, Rock type Pokémon. But I ALWAYS think about the gritty dirty rock flavor.
Not.
Not like I'm extremely familiar with rock taste-

I can do anything for VICTORY!
((blog by @pixelated-hub))
Hey there, it's your girl Hilda! I'm taking on the League, I'm taking on Team Plasma, and there's nothing that can keep me down!
My first partner is Barbeque, the Emboar! He's got an Adamant nature just like me, and he likes to thrash about! And just like me, there's nothing you can do to keep him out of the action for long!
My second partner is Tortilla, the Lillipup! She's got a Lax nature, and she's very finicky! She's been out of the action since Pinwheel Forest, but we're going to get right back to training once she's feeling better!
My third partner is Nacho Cheese, the Patrat! She's got a Jolly nature, and she's somewhat vain! She took a nasty hit in the Striaton Gym so she's in recovery, but she'll be back into things before you know it!
My fourth partner is Kale, the Pansage! He's got a Bold nature, he's often lost in thought, and he was a gift from a woman in the Dreamyard! He's still recovering from the hits he took in Pinwheel Forest, but I know he's excited for when he's better enough to train again!
My fifth partner is Sour Cream And Onion, the Munna! She's got a Timid nature and she's quick to flee, so me and her are pretty much opposites! But she was still a great Pokémon to have by my side until she got those injuries in Pinwheel Forest and had to leave the team to recover, and I'm looking forward to fighting by her side again!
My sixth partner is Ranch, the Roggenrola! He's got a Jolly nature, and he likes to relax! He had an accident on Route 3 pretty quick after I got him so he hasn't gotten to do much, but I know he'll do great once he's up to it!
My seventh partner is Lillil, the Lilligant! She's got a Modest nature, and she's mischievous! She used to belong to Dye in Nacrene City, but Dye let me have her if I promised to bring her back a Cottonee later! Lillil's dead. Elesa's Zebstrika killed her. I don't give a FUCK that it was an accident, I'm never forgiving her.
My eighth partner is Potato, the Leavanny! He's got a Timid nature, and he loves to eat! He's the first Pokémon I caught after I got back on my feet, so he's always gonna be special! Rn he's recovering from an injury he got in the Opelucid Gym.
My ninth partner is Corn, the Victini! It's got a Bold nature, and it often dozes off! I rescued it from Team Plasma in Victory Garden, and then it chose me as its new partner!
My tenth partner is Jamón Presunto, the Zorua! He's got a Relaxed nature, and he's somewhat of a clown! He was in disguise as a human when I met him, but he decided he wanted to come with me! He's not super strong yet but I know he'll be great one day!
My eleventh partner is Kettle, the Krookodile! She's got a Hardy nature, and she's highly curious! And her Intimidate ability means it's way harder for her opponents to try to take her down! She's out with an injury rn after the Opelucid Gym, though.
My twelfth partner is Jalepeño, the Darumaka! She's got a Mild nature, and she's strong willed! There's not much to say about her other than she's Fire type, and I like Fire types! She's pretty strong, but she took a lil too much damage from a wild Audino's DoubleSlap out on Route 7, so she's resting now!
My thirteenth partner is Chocolate, the Cofagrigus! She's got a Quirky nature, and she's quick tempered! She's officially joined my team now, and her defenses are unbreakable!
My fourteenth partner is Banana, the Tirtouga! He's got a Modest nature, and he's impetuous and silly! I revived him from a fossil at the Nacrene Museum when I came back with Dye's Cottonee! Right now he's sitting out in recovery after a Psybeam on Route 5!
My fifteenth partner is Fry, the Garbodor! He's got a Quiet nature, and he often dozes off! He's got a lot of bulk, and I'm glad to have him with me!
My sixteenth partner is Plantain, the Gothita! She's got a Gentle nature, and she likes to thrash about!
My seventeenth partner is Sea Salt, the Ducklett! He's got a Calm nature, and he's often lost in thought! He's resting rn after a nasty Acrobatics hit in Chargestone Cave.
My eighteenth partner is "Cheddar" And Sour Cream, the Tranquill! He's got a Relaxed nature, and he's alert to sounds!
My nineteenth partner is Butterscotch, the Timburr! He's got a Sassy nature, and he's quick tempered!
My twentieth partner is Memory, the Klang! It's got a Docile nature, and it scatters things often! When we took on Skyla, she didn't have any way to deal with it and I didn't even need to bring out any other Pokémon!
My twenty-first partner is Salt And "Vinegar," the Audino! He's got a Naive nature, and he's somewhat stubborn!
My twenty-second partner is Chip Off The Old "Block," the Litwick! He started following me around in Celestial Tower and then came to find me again the next day. Apparently he's been drinking enough of my life energy I "should be dead" or smth but I feel totally fine? Dunno if he's up to battling, but I'm keeping him with me if that means he gets fed and no one gets hurt.
My twenty-third partner is Teacup, the Shelmet! We're not super compatible, so I'm looking to trade her to a Trainer who's a better fit! Teacup's with Nickola @wannabepokemonidol now!
My twenty-fourth partner is Wavy, the Zoroark! I caught her while I was dealing with some things for Elesa on Route 16. She has a Careful nature, and she's proud of her power!
My twenty-fifth partner is Genesect, a Pokémon Team Plasma made as some kinda fucked up science project. It ain't got a nickname bc it won't accept one. I caught it just a bit after I got Wavy, bc it was involved in that situation too. Dunno if I'm gonna battle with it yet, but it's got a Quirky nature, and it loves to eat.
My twenty-sixth partner is Seaweed, the Alomomola! He's got a Gentle nature, and he's alert to sounds!
My twenty-seventh partner is Bacon, the Frillish! He's got a Relaxed nature, and he's somewhat of a clown!
My twenty-eighth partner is Ceramic, the Golett! It's got a Lonely nature and a sturdy body!
My twenty-ninth partner is Mint, the Liepard! He's got a Hasty nature, and he likes to relax!
My thirtieth partner is Chip On Your "Shoulder," the Sawk! He's got a Quirky nature, and he hates to lose!
My thirty-first partner is Iggy, the Escavalier! He's got a Docile nature, and he loves to eat! I got him in a trade with Nickola in exchange for Teacup, and he evolved right there!
I've got seven badges! Trio Badge, Basic Badge, Insect Badge, Bolt Badge, Quake Badge, Jet Badge, and Freeze Badge! But the Bolt Badge wasn't for winning it's bc Elesa fucked up so bad I got it by default. I've also got seven Revives I can use to bring someone back into the action right away if I gotta. And somehow, I've got THREE Max Revives that can bring a Pokémon back from the brink of death!
My friend code's 2497 1060 2064, if anyone wants to do a battle or trade with me or whatever.
And if I type something wrong it's bc I've only got one hand rn. Lousy splint.

The museum in Nacrene City is amazing! SO MUCH to learn!!! I went with Vee, but now I'm tired from all the walking. I heard there's a battle cafe somewhere in the city, so we're going there to rest. :) I'm excited to watch any battles there!

Late, in a house just outside of Nacrene City
Moonlight filtered through the gap in the curtains, casting the room in diffused grey. Gentle breathing of the sleeping leafeon came from the bed, but at the desk, head against the wood, was someone all-too awake.
It was really late. Far too late, she knew.
Yet.
She twisted the string in her hand, making the stones catch in the dim light. Two river stones, a polished stone from the museum, a rock from a cave, even one painted to look like a leaf stone.
Their craftsmanship was, objectively, amateur; but to her, as she rolled the necklace in her hand, it was the best thing Sasha had ever received.
A little rough, not the best put together, but earnest, made with care.
Just like them.
She dropped her hand with a sigh, the stones clacking together against the wood.
"Oh, friend, what am I to do?" she whispered, as if it could hear.
"They're starting to worry about me, they're asking questions."
Lifting her head, her gaze followed out the window, into the dark.
"I can't let them know. Not with this."
"I just- ugh." She rubbed her face with a hand.
"It was so much easier, when it was just Cal and I."
"it's so incredibly complicated now, with Mincy, and Mom, and- Ayzee, Jacob,-" stalling, she took a glance back at the door.
"..and, Cory."
That room felt awfully quiet.
She ran her hands down her face, rubbing her eyes, her breath shuddering.
"If I can't do this right.."
"I don't know what I'll do."
The wood was very cold against her cheek when she dropped her head back onto the surface.
"It would be so much easier, if you could simply tell me what to do."
Staring at the necklace in her shaking hand, the twine entangled around her wrist, a laugh came from her throat. "I know you can't hear me."
It's not funny.
"You're not here."
Why are you laughing?
"I know you're not here."

Casting Pearls Before Time - Ch 4
Six months after suddenly reappearing, Ingo encounters someone he thinks he remembers. Only problem is, he can't remember anything before he returned to Unova, so it's hard to say
Words: ~2000
Emmet was beginning to feel bad dragging Pearl around the entire region. The poor thing was looking exhausted and confused all the time now.
Her language lessons had yielded tiny results! She was able to ask simple questions and make small statements like her age and ask where the bathroom was. Now, she'd look at anything and everything, pointing and asking "What is that?" like a small child in a museum. Ingo usually responded in Sinnohan and then Galarian, and she would do her best to copy.
This time, they were taking a smaller train to Nacrene City. Less people came out this way, and that seemed to have a positive effect on Pearl. Emmet hoped she wasn't going to be too exhausted after this.
The train ride was smooth, getting off and leaving the station went as well as it could have, and getting to the museum was a piece of cake. They went inside and informed the receptionist they were there to see Lenora, who directed them to the back of the building. Pearl gazed in awe at the fossilized skeletons mounted in the museum. Ingo tugged her along to the back of the museum, through the door and into the laboratory.
A blue-haired woman stood in the lab, wearing a coat and leaning over a desk,  peering through a microscope as she scribbled onto a piece of paper.
Emmet cleared his throat to get her attention. She whirled around, goggles resting over her eyes. Once seeing who it was, she put down the pen and removed her goggles, smiling. "My my, the famed Subway Bosses! And what might I do for you this fine afternoon?" She shed her lab coat and walked forward, her hands on her hips.
"Hello again, Lenora!" Emmet smiled at her.
"Good morning, Lenora!" Ingo greeted. "We have a question for you."
"Oh? And what might that be?" She tossed her hair out of her face. There were red marks on her face where the goggles had sat.
"We have a friend here with amnesia. She only speaks some form Sinnohan that Clay says is a dead language. We were wondering if you had some kind of book or something that might describe more about it." Ingo translated all of Emmet's words to Pearl.
"Hmm… Sinnoh, you say? I have plenty of books about Unovan languages- wait a second." She bustled off through another door. Emmet immediately went to follow her, even though he was not invited.
It was a library. Books stretched from floor to ceiling, easily two stories high. Lenora was up on a ladder, hurriedly looking through the books. She selected one, flipped to a page, scrunched up her nose, and reshelved it. This happened a few more times before she kept the book she held, climbing back down the ladder with it under her arm. Back on the ground, she flipped a couple pages, and then stared. "I always thought this form of Sinnohan was weird. Here, little lady, can you read this?"
Though she did not fully understand the question, Pearl looked at the text and her eyes lit up with recognition. She began to read the text aloud - or so Emmet presumed. She could have just made it up for all he knew.
His twin also looked at the page. "Yes, this looks familiar. It's a book talking about ancient battle strategies-" He abruptly stopped, staring at the page.
"Ingo?"
"I remember this."
"Hm?" Emmet peeked over the blue spine of the book and saw a bunch of scribbles on the page with a diagram.
"These moves… I remember this. Battling with different types of moves."
"Like normal or fighting? Physical or special?" Lenora asked.
"No, not like that. For each move, there is an option to use it in the 'agile style' or the 'strong style'. Agile style would use more focus and delivered smaller blows, but it always made the user move faster. Strong style used quite a bit of focus as well and moved slowly, but it was an all-out attack." Ingo looked at the page again. "The text is describing what these attacks are and how pokemon use them. The pages are very faded and it seems quite old…"
"I believe the first version of that text was written in the 1700s," Lenora supplied. "That's odd though. Those battle styles have been unheard of for centuries. When did you say you used them?"
"Sometime during my absence." Ingo shook his head, handing the book to Pearl, who was still reading. "I wish I could just remember."
"We are on the trail, brother," Emmet soothed. "Hopefully soon you will."
"I hope so. I am so tired of not remembering."
—------
Another night in with pizza. Pearl's sickness did not seem to he affecting her so much as she grew used to their diet in Nimbasa. Was she vegan before now? He hoped she wasn't sacrificing her preferences just for them.
He mulled over the information from that day. Lenora had been kind enough to lend them the book from their personal collection. Pearl was currently pouring over it, eyes flicking over the pages.
Ancient battle techniques… dead language… Clay's hat… it felt like he was just missing one piece of the puzzle that would make everything make sense. What was he missing?
He sat on the couch with Ingo, watching a rerun on Jeopardy. Emmet was lost in thought, not even listening to the show.
Perhaps Pearl was older than she seemed? That was unlikely, she had admitted she was nineteen. It was a little ironic she could remember her age but not her name, but Emmet would not judge.
Maybe she was from an older village in Sinnoh that followed tradition? But then how did she end up in Nimbasa with no memory?
He opened his internet app on his phone and looked up 'oldest locations in sinnoh'.
The top one was some ruins on Mount Coronet. Then was a town with some ruins in a cave… maybe that was something?
He walked over to Pearl and tapped her shoulder, making her look up. He showed her the phone. "Do you recognize this?"
She scrolled the website. She looked at the photos of the buildings and shook her head. He was about to take the photo away when she suddenly grabbed his arm again, swiping back to a particular photo.
It was of a mural in a cave, of three small creatures floating in a triangle around some object. She furrowed her brows as she studied the photo.  She pointed at it, but did not say anything. Did she recognize it?
He tapped on the photo for the description.
[A mural depicting three pokemon surrounding a chain-like object. It is hypothesized that this is marking the event of the three Spirits Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie creating the human spirit thousands of years ago.]
"Hey, Ingo, come look at this." Ingo jerked from his thoughts and stood, walking over to Pearl's other side to look at the photo. "It seems like Pearl recognized it."
He scrutinized the photo and read the description. "Something about that seems familiar, but not that painting. Perhaps I saw another like it at some point."
Emmet shrugged and went back to the couch, scrolling still. Next on the list was Mount Coronet. Nothing else seemed right. Emmet sighed, annoyed.
Next, he looked up 'sinnoh history' and clicked on the first website.
It had a long description of wars between two native groups, the immigration of settlers in the middle 17th century, and the development of modern technology.
One fact caught his eye. Something about the deity of the ancient peoples, being referred to as 'Almighty Sinnoh'. Emmet's eyes widened as he got hit with a memory he'd forgotten he had.
He and Ingo lazed on the couch, flipping through channels. It landed on Jeopardy. Just to annoy his brother, Emmet flicked the channel again, only to be met with a hand in his face and the remote being removed from his hand. “Hey! I like that show!” Emmet grinned behind his brother’s scolding but did not comment as the show changed back. Ingo’s hand retracted as he tucked the remote safely away from Emmet’s grasp as they listened to the show. It was nothing astounding. One fact did make him nod satisfactorily, though.
“For 300 points!” the host shouted obnoxiously, “What was the region of Sinnoh named after?”
A buzzer sounded. The accompanying contestant asked, “What is the founder of Sinnoh?”
Two blips overhead, signaling an incorrect answer. “That is incorrect, unfortunately,” the host said, shaking his head in mock sympathy. “The real answer is…” The card flipped on the screen. “The ancient deity that the natives worshiped.”
“Interesting,” Ingo said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “It normally is some settler’s name or other important figure, but I suppose that is as good a reason to name a region as any.”
Emmet nodded, sneakily grabbing the remote from behind his brother and flicking the channel again. “Yes it is.”
Well now he was curious. What was it called before Sinnoh? He typed the question into the search bar-
Wait.
[The region we know as Sinnoh today was not always called this. In fact, it was only renamed about 150 years ago after the feudal clans stopped warring and unified. Before this, it was called 'Hisui' by the locals. It is said they renamed the region to signify a new beginning with the settlers that had been moving into the region to escape economic and political instability in other regions.]
"Ingo," Emmet breathed, "what was the name of the region you say you came from?"
"Hisui," Ingo answered without hesitation. "Why?"
Emmet did not answer as he continued scrolling down the page. The article went on to talk about how the first pokedex was filled and he stopped paying attention.
"Emmet?"
He opened a new tab and researched 'agile strong style' and clicked the first link.
[The agile and strong styles of pokemon moves were a popular way to end pokemon battles quickly or to make them more fun for those involved. It reached the peak of its popularity between the 1750s-1858 in Sinnoh, and was all but completely forgotten by the year 1900.]
"Emmet? What are you doing?"
He opened a third tab and typed in 'ancient sinnoh people'.
[For many generations, two groups made up the entire population of Sinnoh, the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan. For centuries, the two Clans' opposing religious views placed them at odds with one another, commonly resulting in battles and sometimes wars between the two. Both Clans were only united in one thing: their fear of the wild pokemon that roamed the wilds.]
"Emmet, talk to me. What is going on?" Emmet looked up to see Ingo above him, both of his brother's hands on his shoulders. His eyes were flicking back and forth between Emmet's, worry clouding his gaze. Pearl was watching them from the dining room table, her brow pinched.
"Ingo," Emmet drawled, "I think… I think I found out where you went."
His eyes widened and he released Emmet as if burned. "Emmet?"
His voice was shaking as he showed him the phone screen. "Hisui," he said, his hand barely able to hold the device, "was the original name for the region of Sinnoh given by the natives. That was changed over a hundred and fifty years ago." Ingo's eyebrows knit together as he watched Emmet.
"Ingo, how the hell did you end up two hundred years in the past? And how in Arceus's name did you get back?"

The Start of the Common Era, 0 CE
"When the nations of Pokenoa reached the seafaring stage, a stretch of uninhabited islands near the equator became the staging ground for a trading network called the "Median Line." The creation of the Median Line brought about multiple exchanges of culture, language, politics, and economy. With the need to communicate to one another, a new language was discovered that could be learned by all and spoken by all. Thus, a new era was born.
Known as the "language of trade," Common was discovered during initial island settlers who came across an ancient stone structure with intricate carvings. Many first hand accounts have said that the wind, ocean, and land whisper these words when one stands next to this structure.
Today, in addition to their native language, Common is the universal language that is taught in all regions across the globe. With the help of modern science, pokemon can learn to speak, read, and write this language via a Technical Machine (TM00), a feat that used to be extremely difficult.
Despite numerous archeological teams researching the area over the course of history, there are no records of who or what brought about these stone carvings. Some say that this is the work of Arceus, some say that this is the will of the universe, some say that this was created by an undiscovered ancient species, and some even say that this is the work of extraterrestrial beings.
As time goes on, it seems that the only consensus is that the origin of the Common Language Stones is a mystery that the world will never solve."

[ATTACHED: A short video. Rotom is following N and Blake from behind as they skate down one of the sidewalks of Nacrene City, before stopping in front of museum. Nyx hops down from N's skateboard, and darts off somewhere off screen as Beau begins flying after her.
"Don't go too far, you two!" N calls to the Zorua and Swoobat as they run off to go play, but just purses his lips when he sees they aren't regarding a word he says. With a sigh, he turns back to his partner, who's plopped down onto the museum's stairs to slide their skates off. He digs out a water bottle from his pocket, before placing his board off to the side and plopping down beside them.
He takes a long sip, then offers it to Blake. "You need any?"
"Yeah, thanks," they huff out, accepting the bottle from him and gulping down the rest. As they set it by their hip, they glance down at N's black and green board, admiring the Zoroark design painted on the bottom. "Are you sure it's been five years since you last skateboarded? You ride around on that thing like a pro! I don't think I could stand on one without slipping and eating dirt."
He glances between them and the skateboard, before placing a hand on the top of it. "You wanna give it a try? I could show you how. It's not as hard as it looks."
"Uh- maybe later," Blake chuckles and lift a hand in polite refusal, grinning sheepishly. "I'd like to avoid my getting-a-nosebleed-in-front-of-Nacrene-Museum to go up to two."
N blinks a few times in surprise, glancing back at the steps before he lights up in realization. "Oh... oh! That's right, this is where we had our second meeting."
"Yeah! I fell on my face while running up the stairs and almost crashed into you, remember?"
"Mhm," N has a mix of fondness and amusement in his eyes as he recalls the memory. He digs out the Yin-Yang necklace from under his shirt and shows it to them. "Of course I do. This was where you got me this, remember? Well- you didn't give it to me back then, but this was where you got it from."
"Yeah!" Blake smiles when they see the old trinket. "This was also where I got you that new handkerchief after I uh, bloodied your old one. Do you still have that?"
"I believe it's in my coat pocket back at home," she lets the necklace fall against her chest as she scratches the side of her jaw. "But yes, I do. I'm guessing you didn't keep the one I gave to you though, right?"
"Uh, no, I threw that away-" Blake coughed. "Sorry. I didn't think a bloodstained piece of cloth would have that much uh, sentimental value."
N just laughs lightly, shaking her head. "It's fine, it's fine- I didn't expect you to."
"Okay, good," Blake sighs out in relief, mouth still resting in a half-grin. "You wanna go inside and catch up with the others, then? Maybe we can visit the gift shop an-"
They stop, smile fading when they notice the sudden distant expression cast on their partner's face. "Hey, you alright?"
"Oh-" N jumps a little, like she's just snapped back to reality. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just uh, thinking a little."
Blake tilts their head, with curiosity and a twinge of concern. "About what?"
"It's nothing," N rubs the back of his neck, before sitting back up and looking over the cityscape before them. "I just like this place. It's one of the few good memories I have with you from... back then."
His smile falters as he speaks, before he ends off the sentence with a small huff. "I'm... sorry that I- mm." He squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head. "Sorry."
Blake's lips part open a little as they try to think of what to say. They settle for resting a comforting hand over his own, fingers squeezing gently but firmly. "Hey, it's alright. Say what's on your mind."
She gazes at them for a long moment, before her eyes fall to where their hands are intertwined. She rubs their palm with her thumb as she speaks. "I just... I'm sorry that I ended up breaking your trust after that. I remember what you said to me the day we met here... how you felt like you couldn't find anyone who understood you or the things you'd gone through after you came to Unova, and all that.... I can't imagine how you felt after I told you who I was. You trusted me with that part of yourself, and I- I stabbed you in the back."
"Hey..." Blake murmurs reassuringly. "You trusted me too. That's why you told me. And I wasn't exactly as understanding as I should've been."
"Blake, I admitted to being a part of the organization that'd caused you and your friends nothing but grief," N scoffed. "No one would take that well."
"Still!" They went on. "I should've realized you weren't being malicious, you were in a dangerous situation back then and didn't know. Maybe if I'd-"
They bite their tongue, before rubbing their forehead with their free hand. "We both made mistakes back then. I think all we really wanted was just... someone who understood. But we were both too stubborn to just talk out our differences."
"Look, the point is-" They gesture about vaguely, trying to figure out what they were trying to before. "We were a pair of fucked up kids who were too angry at each other and the world to know what we were doing. And it's all in the past and we've sorted everything out since then, sure, but-"
They squeeze her hand, and turn to look deeply into her eyes. "It's okay to still feel bad about it. I do too, all the time- What we both went through was messed up! And we can't go back and change it, either."
"What I'm trying to say is..." They lean in closer, letting their arm rest against N's. "You don't need to hide it from me when you're thinking about it again."
"I know..." N murmured, averting his gaze to the ground. "I just- I feel like I burden you with all my guilt so often."
"I'd rather you tell me about it then bottle it all up," Blake expresses. "Look, it doesn't matter if I have to tell you a million times that I've forgiven you. I'll do it for the rest of our lives if I have to."
"Wouldn't you get tired of it?" A smile slowly but surely begins to tug at the corners of his mouth again.
"Nah," Blake just shrugs. "I owe it to you after you put up with so much of my clumsiness."
The couple both break into soft laughter, before Blake lifts their hand up and rests their hand on the back of his neck, gently tugging him into a kiss. After the two part, they stay like that with their foreheads resting together, reveling in the silence and each other's company as the sun casts a warm glow on them.]
