So I’ve just found out about National Haiku Writing Month (indirectly, from a link in the description of an excellent video essay about video game forests) and I feel like writing a haiku once or twice during the month of February is probably going to be more realistic than trying to do NaNoWriMo.
Anyway, they have daily prompts and the Feb 7 prompt was “Tangerine”.
warm salty breeze -
cool sweet fruit
fills my mouth
And, looking at the haiku checklist, I feel like this wasn’t a terrible stab at haiku-as-genre (as opposed to haiku-as-form-taught-in-American-schools)
