1899 & DARK Main Characters Astrology (Western & Vedic) Life, Death & Rebirth BHARANI & UTTARA BHADRAPADA [Part 1]
Tumblr media
The actors who play Daniel & Maura both have Taurus Sun (Bharani [Aries] Sun), and the captain, Eyk, played by Andres Pietschmann, who also plays one of the main characters of 'Dark' has a Taurus Moon (Bharani [Aries] Moon)
Their sun/moon placements all land within 6 degrees of one another.
Bharani Nakshaktra is in 13:20-26:40 degrees Aries.
Bharani derives from the Sanskrit word "भार (load or burden)"
The ruling deity of Bharani is Yamaraja—the lord of death & the underworld, also the lord of dharma. If you've seen the shows, you know how deep the exploration into the psyche, death & karma/dharma goes.
Bharani's power is also associated with transporting the soul from one body to the next. The characters are all in pursuit of fulfilling a desire, impulsive and determined, sometimes taking things to extremes.
Tumblr media
Personal Note: I may be projecting, and I know the show is going for this as an overall vibe, but I notice that they all have this intense and somewhat dreary look, but more so in the eyes, they look like people who have seen into the depths of darkness, and not much could shock them.
Tumblr media
Bharani is also connected to the womb, with its symbol being the female reproductive organs. Cycle of life, death and rebirth. There's a huge emphasis on this theme in both 'Dark' & '1899'
"The dark side of Bharani is a feeling of struggle and suffering. Much of this suffering may come from your own mind. Like many artists you are a deep thinker, and it sometimes feels like your mind is tormenting you."
Tumblr media
Other similarities are Aries North Node & Libra South Node (Western) with both Andres (Eyk/Stranger) & Aneurin (Daniel) having Uttara Bhadrapada Rahu, Andres having it as his Sun placement too. (the two creators of the show have theirs in reverse—see below)
The director & the actor who plans Jonas share the same NN & SN, Rahu & Ketu. (They're about ~20yrs apart in age) Uttara Phalguni Rahu, Uttara Bhadrapada Ketu
UTTARA BHADRAPADA
Symbol: Snake
Deity: Ananta—"an expansion of God in the form of a great serpent who holds the unlimited universes upon his hoods."
Planetary Ruler: Saturn
"You may wish to isolate yourself and withdraw from the world if you cannot see a favorable path forward."
Tumblr media
The main writer Jantje Friese & the actress who plays Maura both have HASTA MOON (Virgo). [Will explore in Part 2 soon]
I'll definitely go deeper with these themes and nakshaktras, explore other characters and the overall storyline in connection to its astrology, but this is just a quick observation for now!

an earthy black man is gonna do it every time. like yeah, baby, why is life nothing but an illusion again?

Hey hope you’re doing well. I need an insight to this placements (Vedic astrology).
I have Venus as DK planet (in sign Sagittarius Mula nakshaktra) together with Ketu, Sun and Mercury in 1st house. In 7th house I have Rahu (Mrigasira nakshaktra) and Jupiter retrograde (Ardra nakshaktra) in sign Gemini. In Navamsa Chart I have mars in Aquarius 7th house.
Could you tell me how the future spouse could be like and look like based on these placements?
Looks are a very ephemeral thing to try to find with Astrology, because they are a combination of so many Astrological factors that make a person unique, that you would have to have a really strong tendency in your chart to get a clean cut type of a person every time.
Psychological tendencies are easier to determine, because they are a reflection of what you attract as a person. So basically anyone you attract into your life is a reflection of some aspect of yourself you need to work on.
With such a heavy Sagittarius stellium connected to your Ketu, you have heavy past life baggage, which is going to attract a lot of karmic relationships, which in turn will push you towards a search for a deeper meaning of life once your lower egoic tendencies fall off.
Don't count on easiness in the social sphere in any way, romantic or not. You may also end up being very selective with who you surround yourself with over time, if you haven't yet. I have Venus in Mula myself without that big messy stellium you've got going on and I practically talk to noone because I can't stand shallow people, even though with my AK placed in Libra I still need companionship. It basically results in putting a lot of stakes into those people you have, but you're very picky. When my Venus in Mula Antardasha came in, I met thousands of people over the years in a variety of social settings. I don't remember a single one of these fleeting interactions, as they were all meaningless and gave me a permanent distaste for empty socialising. I had my phase, and at least if you hang around in astrology/spiritual circles you have a bigger chance of meeting more interesting and like minded people. Side note, you may also go through a lot of foreigners in your life. Even 90% of these people I was hanging out with on a superficial level were foreigners. With such a heavy Sagittarius stellium, themes of foreign cultures and languages are a must in your life. I'm fluent in several languages myself, English isn't my first language either. Sagittarius rules reading, writing, literature, higher level education. I'm talking the level of reading Nietzsche, Goethe, Baudelaire in original form. All of which I've done in the past before I refocused on my own writing.
Another theme with such an atmakaraka is about spending your time around people who may be somehow troubled or struggling in life. You may become their guide or teacher or counselor over time. Even in your private life, with such a placement you prioritise depth in your relationships. I didn't have a single friend or love interest who wouldn't be going through some serious problems in life at some point or another, and I mean pain so intense you don't wanna live. Mula Nakshatra is also commonly linked with LGBT communities. I had many male gay acquaintances as a teenager, even though I didn't really belong in those communities myself and I've at this point completely put that phase behind me. But I've known so many people who were outcasts due to their sexual orientation, or even just because they wanted to do some teenage experimentation...this is a very Mula theme, suffering in your formative environment because of lack of acceptance of your depth or somehow standing out from people you were born around.
Your partner will as a result of these placements definitely have this rebellious, quirky energy, but should be willing to cooperate with you in your companionship in the long run. Buckle up though because that kind of stellium isn't easy. I know myself I've had enough heartbreak for a lifetime, and my placements are easier than yours.

Re-watching Inuyasha and contemplating what nakshaktras Inuyasha and Kagome have. I'm thinking Inuyasha is an Ashwini (maybe Krittika) but I am almost absolutely certain Kagome is a Punarvasu native.

Hi I want to ask about Vedic chart. So in my birth chart RAHU & JUPITER sit in my 7th house Gemini sign. So Jupiter is the husband and I have it in ardra nakshaktra. RAHU & JUPITER also are opposite the first house with Venus, Ketu, Mercury, sun and ascendant in Sagittarius purvashadha nakshaktra. Can you tell what it could mean.
And also I have mars in 7th house Aquarius (in Satabhisha?) in navamsa chart. The ruler sit in 10th house with sun in Taurus.
💗
Jupiter siting with Rahu is good, it forms what is known as Guru Chandal Yoga because Jupiter is the only planet that really knows how to handle Rahu.
Jupiter Rahu in the 7th can give multiple marriages. Jupiter despite representing the husband doesn’t do very well in the 7th house, it gives you wisdom on how to handle friendships, business partnerships, relationships and open enemies. Rahu is strong in the sign of Gemini too. You might have tendencies to become overly positive and jump into relationships and marriage quite quickly and then later regret it. Being patient and taking things slow will help, really get to know your partners before you marry them as they could try to deceive you. Also since Ketu is conj both your Venus and Mercury it clouds your discernment regarding relationships and decision making in general. It might be a good idea to consult someone you trust before making big decisions as they might help you analyse better.
Mars in Shatabisha in d9 shows a very active partner, someone with a lot of courage/ inner strength and someone who brings loyalty. Your spouse could be a doctor, someone working in healthcare or healing practices like reiki etc. I would describe them as someone who is probably quite successful in their line work and they would also be reclusive especially later in life. But while your spouse is young he would probably have many many desires and be very ambitious. Watch out for power struggles in relationships however, you could also have some intense disagreements and arguments with them sometimes.

Re Vedic Astrology
I find Vedic astrology very misogynistic. For example if a woman is born in the sign of a certain “nakshaktra” then she is deemed an unsuitable marriage prospect or considered will not be passive enough to respect her inlaws. I’m sure this is likely a cause of why so many women are outcast or burned or murdered by their in-laws and why India has a high rate of female baby genocide. The misogyny is what I find so strange because Hinduism worships goddesses, so Vedic astrology must be a form of patriarchal astrology.
I think anything that’s older than a hundred years old could be accused of being patriarchal (across many cultures not just Indian). Vedic astrology goes back thousands of years.

1899 & DARK Astrology (Western & Vedic) Life, Death & Rebirth HASTA Nakshatra
[Part 3]
Tumblr media
PART 1 BHARANI & UTTARA BHADRAPADA
PART 2 Deeper into BHARANI & UTTARA BHADRAPADA, Plus UTTARA PHALGUNI
Tumblr media
HASTA is symbolized by HANDS. Hands allow us to create, connect, and communicate.
It weaves, constructs and directs.
Hasta is VIRGO, and therefore mercurial. This energy is quick, agile, and fickle. Think of fidgeting hands = ANXIOUS ENERGY.
But that's because there's so much mental energy coursing through HASTA natives. They're constantly picking up on information, searching, learning, curious and questioning.
Like hairs on the arms, there are thousands of antennas shifting the sensation of their perception, which can lead to being easily overwhelmed, overridden with other people's ideas and projections or not having an outlet to direct their energy so that their minds can rest and settle down, even if just for a moment. This can lead to vices that are numbing, in order to ease their erratic nature.
Tumblr media
The actress that plays Maura Franklin, the lead character in 1899 has a HASTA moon.
The writer of the show, Jantje Friese, also has this placement.
When we're introduced to Maura, we experience her recollection of a traumatic experience in what appears to be a mental hospital or facility where she is kept.
She's asking where her brother is, and she's held back against her will. She says she wants to remember, but they inject her with something to forget.
HASTA is skilled, intelligent and capable. The character is a good example of this. She's a doctor, in a time when female doctors are uncommon, and immediately we see she's willing to help, and is confident enough to apply her skills.
Tumblr media
WARNING
SPOILER:
We realize it's not her father, but that she's doing it to herself, and possibly her son, too, reflecting the Hasta energy of control over the uncontrollable situation. She's keeping them both in a fantasy land, but this may be only another layer to the story, with more nuances to be revealed later on in Season 2.
Although Virgo/Mercury are prevalent, the HASTA Nakshatra is ruled by the MOON, which further supports the ability for these natives to get carried away with their emotions, and feel that there is something hidden from them, that there's always more to understand, and how overwhelming it can feel to be a seeker.
Maura's father, Henry Singleton, says:
"We're born into this world either a seeker or an avoider. To be an avoider is pure bliss. To be a seeker, on the other hand, brings nothing but pain."
Tumblr media
When there's a healthy level of acceptance, HASTA natives are cunning, quick and sly.
If they can channel their mental and emotional energy toward good, they're very capable and can easily create tangible results.
Think of what hands are capable of—A LOT. Good or bad, they hold a lot of power.
What do you wish to say or do?
It's restless, because it holds the universe, and all that wishes to expand.

1899 & DARK Astrology (Western & Vedic) Life, Death & Rebirth BHARANI, UTTARA BHADRAPADA & UTTARA PHALGUNI
[Part 2]
Tumblr media
See Part 1 for the intro of Bharani (13:20-26:40 degrees Aries Vedic/Taurus Western) & Uttara Bhadrapada (3:20-16:40 degrees Pisces Vedic/Aries Western) Nakshaktras.
HASTA NAKSHATRA is explored in Part 3
RECAP: Previously, we looked at the main three characters (Daniel, Maura, Eyk) of 1899, including Jonas from Dark. The actors for Daniel & Maura both have Taurus Suns (Aries—Bharani Nakshatra) The actors who play Eyk and young Jonas from Dark both have Taurus Moons (Aries—Bharani)
These characters go through a journey of forgetting and remembering, just like the cycles of life, death and rebirth.
They're seekers, and they wish to understand the macrocosm of their situations. They're brave enough to go into the depths of the darkness and go on deeper, and deeper, down the rabbit hole. In the intro of 1899 we hear a remixed iteration of "White Rabbit" by Eliot Summer.
Themes of getting lost, distortion of reality, shifts of perception, expansion of understanding the self, and facing the illusory dangers of unknown lands and foreign territory.
Tumblr media
In these lands, it's easy to discover tempting delights, that can trap us deeper into the web—
BHARANI is called "the star of restraint," emphasizing the need for self-control, as the ruler of this nakshatra (13-26' Aries [Vedic] & 7-20' Taurus [Western]) is VENUS. There's a natural tendency toward self-indulgence with this planetary rulership.
Self-indulgence can come in many forms:
ARIES—impulsive desire, seeking control/dominance, initiating ideas & taking action.
TAURUS—physical pleasures, tangible accomplishments, and material possession
Tumblr media
Aries North Node & Libra South Node (Western) with both Andres (Eyk/Stranger) & Aneurin (Daniel) having Uttara Bhadrapada Rahu, Andres has it as his Sun placement too.
The director & the actor who plans Jonas share the same NN & SN, Rahu & Ketu. (They're about ~20yrs apart in age)
Uttara Phalguni Rahu
Uttara Bhadrapada Ketu
Tumblr media
UTTARA BHADRAPADA is 3 - 16' Pisces [Vedic]
& 27' Pisces - 10' Aries [Western]
An all-knowing, pervasive presence, like the omniscent perspective of God, an ease of trust in the plan and all that has happened and is to come.
"Those born under the star of Uttara-bhadra are thoughtful and far-sighted souls. They understand that all actions have consequences, and they think their plans through carefully. This characteristic makes them much more self-controlled than other Pisceans."
There's a polarity with Saturn (Ruler of Nakshatra) & Jupiter (Ruler of Pisces) here, the serious analytical mind of these natives are balanced with innate wisdom and an ease of effort. Uttara Bhadrapada coils and tightens, like the serpent symbol, strong, yet moving effortlessly through its journey, while still wielding the power to strike at any moment.
They are the epitome of natural power and grace.
Tumblr media
UTTARA PHALGUNI is between 26:40 degrees Leo and 10:00 degrees Virgo [Vedic] & 20' Virgo - 4' Libra [Western]
This is the guiding light, the faith that leads at the end of hope.
This nakshatra is ruled by the Sun, and in the sign of Virgo it's influenced by Mercury here as well. With consideration to the ARIES/LIBRA axis in Western, there's an exploration of relationship to self and others, and the lengths we'll go to sacrificing ourselves or others for the ultimate cause, where we stake our commitment.
In the show, this theme is the core magnetism of the character's story arcs.
How far are we willing to go to save another?
And who, or what, are we willing to sacrifice in order to save the ones we love?
From the Vedic perspective, we're taking a look at the PISCES/VIRGO axis—the freedom, surrender of oneness consciousness, of trust, faith and unconditional love versus the rigid structure of reason that categorizes right and wrong.
Tumblr media
It's interesting that the symbol of UTTARA PHALGUNI is represented as a BED. It's where we rest and recharge, and it's also where we may provide a warm hearth for others to feel safe in our care.
Giving & receiving. Characters in both shows (1899 & Dark) are often seen waking in their bed, usually from a dream. Partly, it alludes to the existing alternative realities and tests our sense of perception.
What's real? What's not? Which one's best?
Living in a dream can feel more satisfying to some, gripping onto another illusion as a "better" alternative, a deeper trap of the karmic cycle. RAHU & KETU, the serpent eating itself (ouroboros).
The lesson here is in facing the surrender of one's ego, the impulsive desire to attach onto pleasures and selfish gains, in order to achieve freedom for all (collective awakening), and release from samsara.
Uttara Phalguni emphasizes the polarity of independence and co-dependency. One can succumb to loneliness, and fear the weight of relationships, but desire it, chasing it within a fantasy. Or they can feel lost and scattered without an anchor to bind them to the web of life's drama.

Ashwini Nakshatra - Ketu
Tumblr media
Moon in ashwini - ruled by scattering Ketu under Mesha (Aries)
- Gracious personality, enjoys good power and exchanges ideas with learned people .
- Occupies a high position in a company or government service.
- Affected with excess bile complaints.
- Even though you are a good executive, you are not generally liked by your associates and employees.
Twin
-Ashwini-Chandra (moon) often has a psychic twin, who may be the marriage partner, team-mate, a close friend, an ancestor spirit, or a physical twin. The twin's social rank might not match the native's rank.
-Often (not always) a significant gap of age or social station.
-Ashwini forms "eccentric core partnerships". Nevertheless the bond is profound.
Emotional distancing
Like all the Ketu-ruled Chandra nakshatra, Magha often longs for the company of one unattainable, distant, or uncaring. Tendency toward unrequited love relationships, or very odd unions with partners from a socially different world.
Feminine Nativities Only - Ketu Moon
- The female Ashwini native = "partner-optional"
- Although companionship may be appreciated and Ashwini may cheerful marry with positive expectation (so long as partner also enjoys a Rahu-Ketu ruled Chandra)
- Indeed the independent and self-sufficient Ashwini woman may live in Ketu-conscious-contentment without a full-time partner.
Freedom
- Needs space, is eccentric, a bit standoffish, yet physically quite extraordinary and may be capable of almost superhuman feats of endurance and speed.
- Claims the privilege to live in one's own way, according to one's own needs, and does not brook interference.
- Inventive, even genius, in a highly eccentric and personalized style. Not much engaged emotionally; likes to meet basic physical need for nurturing then off to the next idea. Independent nature.
- Ideas often take precedence over electro-magnetic emotion. Deep emotional need to be independent and free-ranging.

How can someone know what nakshaktra dominant they have?
Nakshatra Dominance
A person is rarely dominant in one Nakshatra, as you have 10 main placements that influence your chart (Asc, Sun, Moon, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu). If you have a stellium (which I count as at least 3 planets in the same sign same Nakshatra, or if it's a different Nakshatra then at least 4 planets), that will tip the scale of the chart towards that Nakshatra...but the other energies will still be very much visible.
The dominance would be more prominent if let's say Sun, Moon or Ascendant were all in the same Nakshatra, as these are the main placements to look at. Still, the Lagna Lord and the Nakshatra dispositor will have a strong influence.
It may be easier to determine planetary dominance, if your Nakshatras fall into a particular category. For example, I'm very clearly Jupiter dominant, as my big 3 is all in Jupiter ruled Nakshatras. But then, my Jupiter is in a Moon ruled Nakshatra, and my Jupiter-ruled planets are aspected by a Moon-ruled Saturn...so I consider myself a Moon-Jupiter Nakshatra dominant blend.
To give you an example, Jupiter dominant women as a clear cut type can be tomboyish, focus solely on their achievements, be very directed towards paving a path for themselves, to the exclusion of their sensitive, female nature. That is especially visible in Purva Bhadrapada, as these women tend to not get very emotionally attached and almost use men as if it's a form of play. Moon ruled women are kind of the opposite of that, being focused more towards connecting with Nature, developing instinctive psychic abilities, being nurturing and emotionally responsive, connecting with people close to their heart, friends, family or a partner. You can also see the difference in physique, as Moon ruled women are naturally curvy, looking like a person that is soft to hug, while Jupiter ruled women have a more easy-going aura and an "adventurous looking" physique, especially the padas placed in air signs. I would say I'm somewhere exactly in the middle of that, definitely devoted to my pursuits, always looking for new ways to develop myself, hating stagnation in my life, but still very much of the sensitive variety in a psychic sense, selective but very connected to my loved ones and generous with them.
This might seem complicated...but it's just a first glance at my chart, which nevertheless contains some sort of dominance. Most people that I know have their big 3 all in different types of Nakshatras. Even assessing basic planetary dominance becomes impossible in that case. And that is reflective of reality. Human beings are a complicated blend. Different people and situations bring out different sides of us. Overly focusing on one Nakshatra or even one planet is reductive. Try instead to understand yourself harmoniously as a complex being. That is the whole beauty of Astrology.
