Hi Days!! Could you please recommend me some plotty and smutty Naruhina ff that follows the canon? Sorry if there 's any mistake. English is not my first language

hmmm...so by following canon, you mean canon-compliant or canon-compatible? Not canon-divergent... Not all of these are particularly plotty or especially smutty.

This will just be a very long list of canon types of fics, so a lot of Blank Period (pre-The Last, post-The Last, pre-Boruto) and Boruto-era Hokage Naruto fics.

does anyone have recs for naruhina fics that are at least Kind Of canon compliant, if not outright fix-its, that give their romantic relationship more development earlier in the series? (by “earlier” i do mean at any point before the last, unfortunately, now that i think about it.) i don’t particularly mind any rating or subject matter; it’s my job to read responsibly no matter what is recommended, so i’m open to any suggestions

(i’m gonna be a little bit of a snob and also say i don’t want to read anything that makes hinata s-stutter over every w-word, or that makes naruto out to be overly dumb.)

Hmmm, quite pleased that I finished everything I started. Most of these are one-shots. I don't write too many AUs haha.

It looks like I don't usually start fics with dialogue (only two on this list do), and I seem to prefer humor. Mostly third-person past tense, rarely present tense, and I never write in future tense. What does this mean?

The scene in "Doormat" was reworked into Chapter 4 of "The End of Winter." Because I just wanted to fit some of these one-off ideas into a larger narrative.

Days, I used your fic sorting method and it's more work than I thought. Now I'm very impressed that you follow this format for all your rec lists - how?

I have to confess I have two ao3 accounts, but one is secret so I'll mostly talk about the stories on LenoreNevermore. I also technically have a third that I deleted after orphaning all my fics.

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 4, plus another few on secret account. I also had a few orphaned fics on LenoreNevermore but I don't remember how many.

2. What's your total AO3 word count? 73,142 on LenoreNevermore, 33k on secret account, and on my deleted one it was over 500k

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? I don't even have 5 on LenoreNevermore rn 😂 but;

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? We don't do that here. Only angst with happy endings!

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I guess One Last Chance since it's the only one I've finished 😂😂😂 And Princess of the Forest Owls is a canon compliant one shot

8. Do you get hate on fics? So far I haven't. But I got a really weird comment on a now orphaned fic once, that I don't know if it counts as hate.

9. Do you wrote smut? If so, what kind? Nope, we don't do that here.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written? Oh, as a kid I used to do that all the damn time. Mostly between the final fantasy games and kingdom hearts, and Naruto. I had this fic planned, of a Life is Strange x Ouat crossover but... I don't think I'll be writing that anymore. I'll talk about this more on question 15.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes one of my orphaned fics.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No.

14. What's your all time favorite ship? Ouch that's a hard one. I can only pick one? Idk... It's either NaruHina or Squinoa, I can't really pick one.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? It was called Endless Blue... My Life is Strange x OUAT crossover. Before the entire cast ruined ouat for me forever. I get sick whenever I see the actors faces now. It was supposed to be a post bay ending where Max traveled across the country and somehow found Storybrooke, and here she would learn more about time travel, then traveled into the past saving both Rachel and Chloe without fucking up the timeline. I loved this story and I've wanted to write it for the longest time, but the actors ruined the show for me to the point that now, whichever scene of the show I rewatch, it seems stupid to me. Plots I once loved now appear like the trashiest writing I've ever seen. I don't know if their shitty behavior just opened my eyes to what has always been shit writing, or if I just see it that way because the cast are pieces of shit.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Oh I love doing that.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Final Fantasy! Although most fics I wrote when my age had less than two digits are lost to old computers that stopped working and notebooks that are who knows where :(

Now, what is this fic about, I hear you all ask. Well, remember how, in elementary school, kids used to pass notes to each other while giggling? Yeah, well, imagine that instead of elementary school, it was the Konoha Academy, and instead of multiple kids passing the notes, it was just Hinata, and instead of passing them to Naruto, she was secretly getting them to him without revealing her identity, and instead of gossip or drawings, the notes were Hinata’s way of reaching out to Naruto when she couldn’t do it physically. 

So yeah, check it out if you want to. And if you don’t, well, there’s nothing I can do about it. What’s that, Linda? That’s not how you promote a fic? Oh, well then, uh, I’m very proud of this and I think it presents some fairly interesting views and ideas and I think that if you like character analysis, you might like this. Is that better?

Naruto were throwing himself from tree to tree, pushing his body to move faster, willing his limbs to give more power so he would just get there now.

Konohamaru had come bursting into the Hokage office, panting as he explained that they had received a message that Sakura and Ino had been cornered on the edge of the fire nation border while returning home from a diplomatic mission, an assignment that should have been easy and fast.

It seemed some rouge ninjas from Iwa had been stalking them and had had little to no chance, outnumbered and tired form the trip. The Konoha team were losing fast. Naruto was just about to send after a team when Konohamaru admitted to running in to Hinata on the way to the office, who had taken off towards the border as soon at Konohamaru had explained the situation.

Naruto had been out of the office before Konohamaru were done explaining, shouting back for him an Shikamaru to get a team together as he pushed himself  in the direction towards the fight. The mere thought that something were to happen to Hinata, that someone would harm her, sent fearful shivers down his spine. Memories of her cuts and scrapes after training or missions emerged and then darked once took their place. Memories from the fight with Pain and the fourth shinobi war, Hinata’s scared tissue that he now kissed every night, willing them to disappear, wishing he could remove the old pain. The thought of more. He could even imagine it.

This was so unlike her, rushing head first into battle without orders, and at the same time it was just like her all the same. Naruto had seen the look in Konohamaru’s eye. If the yough ninja had given Hinata that frightened look, she would have dropped everything to rush to the aid of their friends. She just couldn’t stand by and wait if there were something she could do. And Naruto had been holding her back lately, sending team eight on easy and diplomatic missions just so she wouldn’t get hurt. It wasn’t so much that he thought that she couldn’t handle it, it was completely selfish. Being a ninja was dangerous, even easy missions could go wrong, and Naruto was not about to lose her. What if she got hurt again, because of him. Or even died. He truly couldn’t bare it.

As he increased his speed he started picking up silvers of Hinata’s chacera a head of him. Like a strong pulse, beating as he came closer and closer. She must have stopped, probably already in battle.

The time to catch up felt like ages before he finally crachlanding down into the glade. The sight that meets him is more of a K.O than anything else. To one side lies Sakura and Ino, both visibly beat up but alive and awake. Two unknown ninjas lie a few meters away from them and another two Naruto spots in between the the trees deeper in to the forest. As far as he can tell all is alive but been incapacitated.

It’s the sight in the middle of the glade that really make him halt.

Hinata’s deep blue long hair sway in the wind as her posture relaxes, one rough ninja laying behind her and one underneath her right foot. Her byakugan shrinks back, relaxing her face as she retreats her gentle fist chacera from her palms, gold wedding band leaming as it catches the light in the sun. There is blood on her left cheek, red standing out against her pale skin. Her lilac top is ripped at the right side, small drops of blood seeping thru and dropping down in to the grass.

He’s at her side instantly, wrapping an arm around her waist catching her as her body relaxes against his. A soft hiss leaves her lips as his fingers slide across the wound by her hip. “Naruto.” She says, turning towards him with a small smile. His heart aches at the sight of the blood on her face and his other hand come up to caress her cheekbone. The blood smears and reveals whole skin benethes, not her blood then. “Have you checked on Ino and Sakura?” She ask.

Like Naruto scofs. Like anyone beside her would be his priority right now. care right now. He’s not inferior to his friends well-being but here stands his bleeding wife, looking like she took out an entire gang of rogue ninjas all on her own. He’s entitled to be biased. Besides, Sakura and Ino have been thru worse, they will be fine.

“You scared me.” He admit instead, lips pressing lightly against her soft cheek above the blood.

“Im sorry” She said, eyes gleaming like she’s not sorry at all. Chuckling he lifts her up next to his side, carrying her her over to  the other Konoha ninjas.

“Good job Hinna, you beat them all up.” Sakura praises as she stretches, hands coming up to clutch at her side.

“Yeah, you were amazing.” Ino agrees.

Naruto looks around the area again, taking in the site. He can’t know what the situation was like before she got here, but he knows she must have put up a hell of a fight.

Naruto would have sent another team if it wasn’t for her rushing in. It would have been the more sensible plan, calculated, nothing like the hotheaded display his wife has put up today.

“How is my wife more badass than me?” He said, pulling her closer and kissing her lips. A small blush dusts her cheekbones.

“Silly Naruto.” She chilleds as she smile. Behind them Kiba and Akamaru land, followed by Choji and Rock Lee. Presumably the first three ninjas Shikamaru could get a hold of.

“Woah. What happened here?” Kiba asked, looking around.

Naruto nudged his wife in her unharmed ribs. “Told you. Badass.”

The way back is silent, Akamaru carrying the wounded Ino and Sakura as Kiba runs behind, Rock Lee and Choji taking care of the rough ninjas. Hinata fits snugly on Naruto’s back as he jumped from tree to tree, making their way back to Konoha. When they arrive he’s gonna take her home, strip her out of her bloody and ripped clothes and wash all the wounds. Hopefully they will heal better than the old ones. Maybe he can even go out and pick up some cinnamon buns, or send a clone at least. He should spoil her, he does it far to rarely.

On his back, Hinata sighed happily, leaving kisses on the back of his neck.

Do you have any sasuhina recommendations

Hi! I do have some recs, but bear with me. I didn't read much about them so you will forgive me if I can't give you many recs.

First we have: 

A Question of Professionalism by GremlinSR. A stunning fic, wrote beautifully and all the characters are IC. It's my favourite SasuHina, and I have such a soft spot for it. It follows canon until after Naruto The Last and then goes canon divergent. Absolutely lovely work.

with you by Tilim. A very enjoyable fic, and I loved it. Great characterization and development. It’s canon up untile after the fouth ninja war and then it diverges. 

Saudade by Fher34. Lovely, lovely work. A tender SasuHina that explores their relationship with sweet snapshots of their life together. I urge you to go through the author profile because they have a rich page with lots of SasuHina fics.

Evanesce by ChasingAnswers. Short but sweet OS.

The Chill of Winter by Lanse.  Cute OS, a lovely start for a relationship between Sasuke and Hinata. Also, Sasuke is absolutely besotted already.

Miru Hoshi by Reinao Tanaka. Lovely canon divergence, with lots of action and love. I also urge you to take a look at the author’s page because they have a lot of worthy SasuHina stories in their profile.

Bittersweet by Lisea18. Hinata moving on from unrequited love and falling in love with Sasuke. Plus ANBU!Hinata which I always appreciate. 

Ikigai by Lanse. Lots of Hinata whump in this one, and a not-so-noble Sasuke coming to help her. If you are searching for healty relationship, this may not be for you. 

Our Son by SilverKitsune2017. What happens when they have a son after a one night stand? Well imagine that in the canon universe. Drama is assured to begin. A bit of Clan Hyuuga bashing, but overall I enjoyed it. The author has quite the collection of SasuHina fics in their profile, so it’s worth checking out. 

Operation SasuHina: Halloween by MsChifSantos. This one is a Modern AU, with our Sasuke triying to get the girl he likes to be his girlfriend. A nice cute fic, very good if someone likes a bit of humor too. 

Plain, simple, but mine by BK-Black Knight. Another moder AU, with some found family feels. 

The Hyuuga curse by BWL. If you like some crack and humor this fic is the right choice for you. Also the SasuHina is very sweet. 

Better off dead by wingedmercury. A well thought AU in the canon setting.

Hold on tight by Unbalanced kiss. A hight school AU with Sasuke as a knight in shining armor saving Hinata from a nasty situation.

All for love by Rampantt. Deals with some side (and abusive) established NaruHina, but SasuHina is endgame. 

And last but not least my fic, Re-Life. It’s canon compliant until the end of the fourth ninja war and then diverges.

Before a Mission

Naruto felt something tickling his cheek. He tried to swat whatever was poking him away, but it just kept coming back. He grumbled, annoyed at whatever was disturbing his slumber. Then he heard a tinkling laugh and his eyes shot open.

He looked over to see his girlfriend with a huge smile on her face as she traced the whisker marks on his cheek.

“Good morning. Did I wake you?” Hinata asked innocently, knowing full well she had.

Naruto grabbed her offending hand and pressed kisses to the pads of her fingertips. He couldn’t be annoyed with her for waking him up. Not when she looked so goshdarn adorable in one of his old t-shirts, her hair fanned out across his pillow, and her eyes shining with mirth. He didn’t think he would ever get used to waking up beside her.

“Sorry,” she said in that soft voice of hers. “I didn’t want to wake you, but I also didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye first.”

Naruto’s face fell. He didn’t like being reminded of Hinata’s upcoming mission. One that was going to be taking her away from him for three days. He held her hand against his chest and asked, “when do you leave, again?”

Hinata noticed the sadness behind his question. She didn’t like leaving him either and it hurt her heart hearing him sound so upset. “I’m suppose to meet up with Shino and Kiba in about thirty minutes.” She lightly tugged on her hand and Naruto released her. She sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed, about to stand so she could get ready for the day.

Naruto’s eyes focused on the curve of her back as she sat on the edge of his bed, reluctant to leave him. He stared hungrily at Hinata’s backside clad in a pair of cream colored panties with little purple and orange flowers all over them. He wanted nothing more than to pull her back down on the mattress and have his wicked way with her, but he knew he couldn’t keep her from her mission.

Hinata finally stood from the bed, searching around the room to retrieve her mission gear. Naruto sat up against his pillows, arms behind his head, and watched her move about the room. He couldn’t take his eyes off her perfectly sculpted behind. Especially when she bent over to pick up something from the bottom drawer.

He was behind her in an instant, his large hands splayed across the globe of her ass, kneading each cheek teasingly. He smirked as Hinata bolted upright with a gasp.

“Naruto!”

He nuzzled her neck, breathing in her lovely scent. “Sorry,” he apologized, his voice sounding throaty. “I just couldn’t help myself.” His sultry tone made a shiver run down her spine, which only made him even more reluctant to see her leave.

He released his hold on her once more and she quickly scurried away from him into the bathroom before he could get his hands on her again. She knew if she let him touch her like that anymore, she’d only be too willing to give into their shared desires. And she didn’t want be late in meeting up with her teammates. She wouldn't give Kiba any ammo to tease her with.

Naruto watched her retreat, his eyes still focused on her bodacious bottom and squeezable thighs. Damn, I’m gonna miss her… he thought as she made her escape.

When Hinata returned from the bathroom fully dressed and ready to go, she was surprised to find Naruto eating cereal at the kitchen table. She couldn’t help but laugh at the froggy patterned boxers he wore. As she took her seat next to him, she placed a chaste kiss against his whiskered cheek, giggling when he smiled up at her with his mouth full. She was really going to miss him while she was away.

Hinata quickly ate her breakfast, eager to be on her way, thinking that the sooner she left for her mission, the sooner it’d be completed, and the sooner she’d be able to return to Naruto. Their embrace at the door was far too short. As was the steamy kiss Naruto planted on her lips when she tried to remove herself from his arms. He eventually let her go though, watching her retreating form. I hate to see her go, but I love to watch her walk away, he thought to himself with a sad smirk as he leaned against the doorframe.

"What Could Have Been" by @arunikas - Rated G, Canon-Compliant, Short One-shot. Uzumaki Naruto had always prepared himself to die since the moment he decided to become the Hokage. But, when death finally came around the corner so unexpectedly, he regretted one thing. Not being able to say goodbye to his loved ones back in Konoha.

That one is somewhat comforting and what we all wish was in the show.

Another one that addresses everything the writers are putting Naruto through is

"Burn The House Down" by @secrettastemakerland - Rated G, Canon-Divergent, One-shot. Naruto shrugged, not really having an answer. He had tried to tell her they had bigger problems.

It happened all of a sudden, the stream of tears rushing down his face. He hadn’t even realized he was crying until Hinata reached over and wiped his cheek. He gently grabbed her hand, and in a beat of courage, she interlaced her fingers in his.

Since the culmination of the war, the pair had gotten closer. His hand always reached out towards hers for comfort, even when he didn’t notice. Even when he knew he shouldn’t. It was selfish, self-indulgent...

He just couldn’t understand why she was always in his head, even when she wasn’t supposed to be.

“I-I’m okay” He murmured, hoping he didn’t wake anyone in the Hyuga household.

It was late after all, too late for him to be visiting. But, alas, he couldn’t sleep. He couldn’t eat. He was unable to do anything but play what had happened in the war on a loop in his head. His throbbing arm a physical reminder that he was just not okay, even as much as he pretended to be.

“Naruto-Kun...”

He shook his head, “Just let me...just let me sit here with you. That’s all I need.”

Naruto wanted to let his mind go blank, to take advantage of the wave of calm that washed over him as he felt her skin against his, but he kept wondering why it was that this was the only way he found repose from his scary thoughts.

He thought back to what he had discussed with Shikamaru a few days back.

As he laid in the grass, the sun warm upon his face, his observant friend had made a quip about how all Naruto did was spend his time with Hyuga heiress, and whether or not he was going to make a move.

Naruto, being Naruto, furrowed his brow and reassured Shikamaru that he and Hinata were just friends. Even so, though, he just didn’t quite understand what he felt for her. All he knew was that he wanted to be near her at all times.

Shikamaru didn’t bother looking at him as he smirked and said, “You’re like a duckling, Naruto. You imprinted on her.”

“A duckling?” Naruto sighed, “Sometimes I really don’t know what to make of the shit you say.”

“Everything that happened...it was...really messed up, to say the least,” Shikamaru took a cigarette from the pouch on his side and lit it, taking a long drag before continuing, “Hinata was there for you...she’s been there by you through it all. It’s only natural that you look to her for safety and comfort, especially now.”

Naruto took a breath, “You’ve been reading Sai’s psychology books haven’t you? He tried to diagnose me the other day too.”

Shikamaru shook his head, “All I’m saying is what you’re feeling is normal. If being by her side is what’s keeping you steady, maybe you shouldn’t question it. I don’t think you’re in a state of mind to be working all of that out.”

“What would “all of that” be?”

“When you’re ready you’ll know.”

Naruto breathed in and tried to compose himself, but it seemed that this time, the tears just didn’t want to stop flowing. Between what he felt for Hinata and the weight of everything that had happened six months ago, his mind and body were about to give out.

He thought he would’ve been okay by now. His arm was healing, his wounds were nearly non-existent. Battle scars were fading upon his skin, just as they were on hers. So he didn’t understand why it was that when nighttime fell and he closed his eyes, all he saw was death.

Wouldn’t his mind heal as well?

“Naruto-Kun?”

He looked up to meet her gaze, inquisitive eyes asking the question she couldn’t quite seem to muster the courage to ask. Still, she managed to finally utter, “D-did you have that dream again?”

“Hinata...I—”

A door opened behind them, startling them both. Still, though, their hands remained linked upon Hinata’s kitchen table, as a teary-eyed Naruto looked up to see Hiashi Hyuga, the head of the Hyuga clan, standing directly behind Hinata.

The elder Hyuga said nothing, simply nodded, and continued on his way back to his room. Naruto swore he saw a glimmer of sadness in his eyes as well.

It seemed to be that way for everyone, regardless of the fact the war had been won.

“I’m sorry,” He whispered, “Your dad must be tired of seeing me around.”

She smiled sweetly and assured him, “Never. You know everyone enjoys seeing you around here.”

“I wish I could come around more often. This is the only place I can really get away from it all, you know?”

“You’re always welcome here, Naruto-Kun.”

Naruto breathed out in relief. Her words the only thing he needed to bring him back from the brink of despair. He needed to remember that he wasn’t alone anymore, he didn’t have to suffer through whatever it was he was going through by himself. Hinata had nursed him through the worst of it, laughed with him through the best. Fought with him, even when he told her not to risk her life for him.

She was his comfort, his joy, his everything. Even if he didn’t see it, even if he didn’t understand it.

“You know, it’s weird,” He sniffled, “Ever since the war, I just can’t stop thinking about you.”

“W-what?” She blushed and looked away, unable to meet his stare.

“I don’t know, you’re just...in my head...even when you’re not supposed to be. I think I’m depending on you too much, Hinata. Sometimes...I can’t even go to bed until I hear your voice.”

“O-oh.”

“Isn’t that too much to ask for from a friend?”

Slowly Hinata had been getting redder, her face nearly aflame at this point. Still, though, he didn’t understand why. She had always been a stuttering mess in the past anyways, maybe he had just taken her by surprise.

“Naruto...that’s what friends are for,” She managed to say, squeezing his hand tightly, “Whenever you have a bad dream, or a horrible day, or if you just need me to help you run an errand, you can count on me. You...you know that.”

“Yeah?”

She nodded, “Of course.”

“D-do you ever feel this way?”

Hinata cleared her throat, “I think we all do.”

“Will it ever pass?”

She traced a scar that ran from his wrist to his palm and bit her lip as she said, “I think in time...it’ll hurt a little less. Like these wounds, like your arm. But it’ll heal...at least, I hope.”

“Do you miss him?” He asked, referring to Neji. He still couldn’t bear to say his name.

“Every day.”

Naruto stayed quiet for a second, letting it all kind of sink it. Finally, he managed to tell her, “If you ever feel sad, tell me. Okay? I want to be there for you like you are for me.”

He wanted her to find comfort in him as well. It was the least he could offer. Really, at the moment, it was all he had to give her.

“Okay.”

“But I mean it, Hinata. None of that hiding your feelings crap, okay?” He chuckled as he wiped his still damp cheeks.

She laughed as well, wanting to reassure him, “I promise I’ll tell you.”

“Good...now...any chance there’s some of that sweet bread you had lying around yesterday?”

“Appetite is back?”

“I’m starving.”

“I’ll fix you something,” She said as she got up and squeezed his shoulder. She’d leave it at that, letting him feel what he had to and treating him like he wasn’t broken.

He would never be able to repay her for everything she’d done for him, but he’d try.

“Hinata?”

“Yes?”

“Thank you.”

“It’s just bread, Naruto-Kun,” She said, serving him a slice on a white plate.

“That’s not what I meant.”

“What did you mean?”

He wanted to explain, but didn’t know where to start. He didn’t even know what he wanted to say, what he felt. He was a jumble of confusion.

“Never mind,” He mumbled, grabbing the bread and biting into it, “Don’t worry about it.”

One day he’d figure it all out. Until then, he’d just keep trying to make it through.

This is shocking for some people apparently, but pure "canon-compliant" fanfic and pure "in-character" takes are not the goal of many creators.

Similarly, I don't understand the need for shippers to argue that their ship is the most "realistic" or "in-character." Isn't the point of fanfiction to make things that are not canon? To expand the universe of possible situations and feelings and ships? We know what the canon ships are: SasuSaku, ShikaTema, NaruHina etc. Anything not canon is..... not canon. Why fight about it?

When we use textual interpretation to put other people down for liking certain content, we lose sight of what fandom is for.

Ah yes, hurt/comfort eh? No problem! I will have to warn you though, my understanding of these tags is very loose, and I don’t think I have that many canon stories, but have a look at my archive (I don’t have much time to read or write or do anything recently, so there may be a few good fics that I haven’t seen yet)

death didn’t hurt as much by izzieee. Not canon, but the hurt/comfort aspect is really well done. Set post-Pain

come and rest your bones by lesbianaruto. Could be canon. Short but sweet. It’s about a Naruto dealing with the aftermath of a mission

Ache by taegg. Another quick one that could be canon. Now it’s about Hinata dealing with stuff

Change by Akiry. Means a lot to me. Doubt it can be counted as canon, but the ‘comfort’ aspect is great. Set after Hinata vs Neji 

The Life and Chronicles of Neji Uzumaki by tenneyshoes. It’s a sequel to The Path We Walk, and... oh boy. It’s great for the ‘hurt’ aspect. 

Naruto AU - Heartbreak and Healing by WandCloakStone. I had problems with the premise initially but this is one which I inadvertantly come back to once in a while. It also served as a bit of an inspiration for some of my headcanons, a few of which spilled into a chapter of two of my own. Naruto and Hinata reunite after... some time

The Hokage’s Secret Closet by eternalshiva. This is a must read. It is not canon, nor is it really hurt/comfort (hard to describe it though), but I found it fascinating. Basically, the Hokage has a secret closet

You love like you’ve always been lonely by Linisen. Excellently written, and just lovely in general. It’s another one where Naruto and HInata reunite after a long time, but under slightly different circumstances.

no other sadness in the world would do by tendermoon. This one made me very depressed. But the ending is quite good, so it lives up quite well to the ol’ hurt/comfort tag

My Right Hand by petran. This is canon compliant, not hurt/comfort, but has some ‘emotions’ in it. Based after chapter 699 but before the Last. Another one which stimulated some headcanons

A Delicate Condition by Shawny Wong. I think I’ve recommended this before, but it’s really well worth it. Definitely not canon since it’s from 2010, but hey, it’s still great. It had a pretty big impact on my own writing, I do have to say

These are all the ones that I had the energy to track down that I haven’t recommended before (I may have a personal archive, but navigating my own vague labels and side-comments is a nightmare), but I might come back and add on to this at some other point. You find hurt/comfort in a bunch of stories where it’s not in one of the primary tags, though. put on your warpaint by borzbois and Together, You and I by AnimeLoverNUMBA100, for example, both have elements or chapters based around it, but I’m unsure if they are technically classified as such.
