Eudora: How much is that? DM: It's like two silver. Tark: *laughing* I got it. I got it. Eudora: I can afford two silver. It might be a little bit tight, but... Tark (OOC): I was gonna say, 'Girl, if you can't afford two silver then Tark's about to have some serious conversations about your finances.' Eudora (OOC): Her finances are fine, it's just that I haven't been tracking it well, so I've got numbers scatterd across various pages. Hunt (OOC): Oh. DM: Okay. Marigold (OOC): Oh no. Tark (OOC): Can't even imagine. Can't even imagine. DM: Yeah 'cause you bought a literal ledger book. Tark (OOC): Hey! It works, don't it? DM: Yeah. Nathaniel (OOC): You bought a literal ledger book--- Tark (OOC): Yes. Nathaniel (OOC): For your D&D character? Tark (OOC): Yes I did. DM: Which is buried when I'm 'I don't know, fucking number I guess?' Nathaniel (OOC): Oh my god. Tark (OOC): Do ya'll wanna know just how much money Tark has? Hunt (OOC): Yes! Eudora (OOC): Yes. DM: [something] drop. Tark (OOC): *mock clearing throat* 9,550 gold. Hunt (OOC): Oh my fucking god! DM: He makes a lot of money. He has a regular job that pays well. Tark (OOC): And the fact that I haven't been spending my money on anything. Nathaniel (OOC): I do have about 300 platinum banked, so. DM: Okay, yeah. Eudora (OOC): Yeah. We made some good money, mostly from Tark's brother. Hunt (OOC): I don't know the exact total, but I think I have roughly 4,000 gold in total. DM: Yeah, okay. Marigold (OOC): 400. What are you guys doing?! DM: Crime! Hunt (OOC): Crime! DM: And prostitution. Tark (OOC): I would've had a lot more than that if I didn't buy those diamonds for Revivify for you guys. Marigold (OOC): Well, I think you can afford it. Tark (OOC): I don't know, can I? Hunt (OOC) & DM: *laughing* DM: One dress is gonna put him out, you know. Tark (OOC): That is actually a true fact. Nathaniel (OOC): It's entirely possible that I got most of my money from selling my old apartment now that I moved back into my parent's house. -various 'yeah's- Tark (OOC): Wouldn't surprise me. Real estate goes for a lot.

Talking about Nathaniel and the homophobia allegory / artist themes in The Ruler because I am not sane (very unorganized thoughts ahead)

First of, oh my god the homophobia allegory. I have so many sporadic thoughts that I'll try my best to explain.
Homophobia is such a taboo topic, especially in children's cartoons, that it's incredibly refreshing to see miraculous of all shows tackle it with such forwardness. There's really not all that much sugarcoating, it's the story of a queer kid growing up in a homophobic household, having heteronormativity indoctrinated onto him, having to deal with close-minded family who refuse to support you, because they fully believe you're on the wrong path, making decisions that will "ruin your life", claiming your passions as "just a phase", and being threatened to live in isolation from your peers, the people you are most close with in the world due to being "a bad influence" on you.

They push their ideologies so hard on Nath that he actually goes through with what they say. He destroys his art, literally shreds the story he's worked so hard on because of his mother. She says so many times how she's going to "set him straight", saying that he needs to be "converted" to be successful or for the world to accept you. That his art is meaningless and immature and he needs to make "real art".

His father also adds onto it by saying the comic book knights should fall in love with the literal villain because "that's what people want to see". Like the relationship between the knights wasn't sentimental, like it was meaningless, like it wasn't love.

Marc's parents also show up for the first time, and they're the complete opposite. They're incredibly supportive, accepting, kind, and they absolutely love the script for their comic, saying that it clearly came from the heart. They let Marc express himself, they let Marc love who he wants to love. It's honestly a bit jarring to compare Marc's parents to Nathaniel's. (Nath always looks so sad with them oh my heart 😭)

But despite everything I just said, the ending is a really beautiful conclusion.
The comic knights get to be together, and Nathaniel finally gets the acceptance of his family. His mom finally accepts him for who he is, and supports the art he makes. Because it's so clear now, that it's from the heart. And that's the most beautiful thing art can be.

A lot of artists have dealt with invalidation, wether from uneducated people or other artists, for "not being professional" or "not what's expected to make in in the industry". Because these artists choose to make the art they want to, choose to express themselves and be bold.
Nathaniel's mom being an architect really sells the themes of art in the episode. She's strict, unbending, and she clearly has very closed minded views on what art should or shouldn't be made. In her standards, if it's not in a museum, it's not art. But that's just simply not true.
Art is a beautiful thing, in whatever form it is. It's pure, it's passionate, it's what makes us human.
While its incredibly refreshing to see such a bold queer allegory in a kids show, it's also beautiful to see the story of an artist like Nathaniel be put front and center and tackle the many sides and points of view that someone can have on your art.
Because, while his mom sees it as immature, his friends and boyfriend absolutely LOVE it. They adore the story they're telling and literally flock in a circle to be able to see it.
And then the fact that the episode ends with Marc and Nathaniel revealing their identities to each other, the same way the comic knights revealed theirs... Ties the allegory with a beautiful bow and ships it over straight to my heart.

I love this episode so much, and I seriously can't wait to see more. Miraculous team, you cooked.

I guess it's time to start moving some content from twt over here! For those who don't know me, I'm a public librarian with a special interest in polar and nautical history, and I love nothing more than connecting readers with good books. I've managed to convert some friends to my way of thinking, and one of them coined the phrase "sad boat books" to describe the types of books that I'm always reading and recommending. Here is my first list of sad boat books-- I can personally vouch for all of them!
New to sad boat? Start here to see if it’s for you!

I was asking myself is Nathaniel's family was german or jewish with his last name and since his mother also has a Hebrew name (meaning the song of God) I would say jewish.
Shiriel (Nath's mom) is such an hypocrite when she said comics aren't art because they weren't exposed to the Louvre when industrial drawing and scenography weren't either and people would want more to see comics art there than her "noble art". Art is about giving people emotions just like the guy in the Louvre in El Toro de Piedra.
Plus she's wrong: someone on Twitter talked about comics exposition in the Louvre museum in 2009 called "le Louvre invite la bande dessinée", the Louvre invites Comics. It exposed BD (french-belgian comics books name), US comics and manga.
In Brussels there is also a comics museum and Belgian passeport is illustrated with characters from famous Belgian BDs.
Comics is recognised as an art just like Photography and Films and now Videogames. And its because of people like her some artists called their art graphic novels to appear more serious than with the word comics. Pop culture is still culture!
And she is accusing Marc of "converting" Nathaniel to comics... While we all know he was drawing comics before meeting Marc and that's what (being queer) draw them together. Plus, it's more Nathaniel who "converted" Marc of doing comics, since he wrote novels and short stories before meeting him.
Anyway, comics were always a metaphor for marcaniel being a couple since Marc debut episode where him asking for a comics collaboration could also be seen as asking to going out with him. Plus the episode where Markov got akumatised again and Nathaniel was taken along side with their comics. It's a great metaphor because with all the puns you couldn't miss the point and it's difficult to censor it in other countries since it's just about making comics, right? Maybe some scenes could be cut like the kiss between the knights. But not the whole episode. (But it's even difficult to cut the kiss scene since it's the ending card!)
But the subtle clues don't stop there! The fact that Caprikid draws a carabiners also has symbolism!
I love the artstyle of the knights! Who is the artist IRL? are they the same person than the artist that made Adrien in a dress? Everyone is talking about how the knights could be Marc and Nathaniel insert reader at each other or Adrien and Marinette as the love square. But my logical ass only notices why it's the grand rain that gave powers to Heart Sun and the great Sun to Rain Piercer and not the other way around?
Someone pointed it out that the colors of paint on Nath's clothes are the bi flag and how I didn't recognize my own flag?? I also love his disguised Miraculous! I first thought that Nathaniel's and Marc's miraculous will be inverted because I saw more Marc with hair clips than Nathaniel but it suits him! Plus, I don't know if having a bang on one eye means he's hiding half of himself as a bisexual. I don't know if it's a common experience as a bi person to try to appear as het to avoid homophobia and rejection before our coming out.
I love the scene where Nathaniel caresses Marc's cheek while saying he will always protect him. He was so smooth! I love the protective partner trope and soft touches! Will it be a foreshadowing for Marc's focus episode? Where we would see his transformation sequence ? Will it be about school harassment? With the blond wig guy that threat Zoé? Can't wait to watch it to have more of this adorable couple!
About Marinette being sick, I understood it was because of spring allergy (not sure of the name in English) and not actually "sick with bacteria" to explain why she was going to school instead of staying at home.
(will add more later!)

Tell me, how do you feel about two more characters being given troublesome parents?
Parent drama is pretty standard for kids shows, so I'm fine with this as a general concept, though I will note that I've seen The Ruler called out as antisemetic for falling into the trope of the controlling Jewish mother along with the trope of representing Jewish culture as something oppressive. Not something I can personally speak to, but I'll dig up the post I saw about this and have it post the same day as this one.
For the uninformed: Nathaniel is Jewish according to Twitter which is not how representation works, but if the writers are going to claim the rep then I think it's fair to judge them based on the rep they're claiming even if many audience members aren't aware of said rep. While we're on the topic, I'm genuinely curious how many people knew about the Jewish thing without being told. I only found out about it from the fandom and it seems to be based on Nathaniel's last name? I'm not bashing that logic, I'm just curious how reasonable a metric that is as I've seen it fail first hand.
Bizarre story time!
A person I'm close with is not Jewish, but he has a last name that's apparently associated with the Jewish community. A fact we only learned because he occasionally get random letters trying to convert him to Christianity. Some online sleuthing discovered that the letters were sent because of his last name. What was extra weird was the fact that lists we found didn't have the last names of the Jewish friends and family-by-marriage we both had thus my questioning the validity of the whole last name = Jewish thing especially since he was not the only person sent a letter in error.
End of story time!
I'll also note that I'm not sure why Miraculous has to go to dramatic extremes with the troublesome parent conflicts. This show seems allergic to nuance and subtlety. I'd love to see some conflicts that were only concerning because an akuma showed up. Circling back to The Ruler, it's genuinely understandable that Nathaniel's mother is concerned about him wanting to pursue a career in comics, a field that is notoriously difficult to succeed in. They didn't need to have her go to absurd, abusive extremes with her concerns or make her concerns about comic books not being good enough for no clear reason.
Of course, this would mean that the show would have to acknowledge that artistic fields kind of suck and we can't have that since most of their characters are going into artistic fields, so instead we go the path of the controlling hag who refuses to honor her son's passions. Sigh.
I'd also love some conflicts where the parents were in the right without the show glorifying abuse like it so often does. For example, I've seen several fanfics that had a little kid get akumatized over not eating vegetables. Why can't we have stuff like that?

I absolutely completely loved this beautiful fanart of Miraculous Ladybug from the LGBT ship of Marcaniel/Capribold of the characters Nathaniel Kurtzberg and Marc Anciel together but at the same time also because I really love it and it also gives me a lot of tenderness as in Nathaniel is converted into Caprikid and has just saved his boyfriend Marc while on the other hand Marc is completely blushed by how handsome Caprikid is but at the same time also because it gives me tenderness to think that Nathaniel turned Caprikid will try to flirt with Marc but on the other hand Marc is confused by his feelings because at the same time that he loved his boyfriend Nathaniel had also developed a crush on Caprikid but above all because I really can't wait to see them together again during season 6 of the Miraculo Ladybug series in every possible way

By the way, these beautiful Fanart of them are not mine and the credits are not for me, but I will let you know that right here I am going to leave you the link of the real creator on DeviantArt.

Important update all of these things are involved in this novel given the central incredibly stupid concept is that Clarel our main character does fall for a Jewish American lady called Ruth whose father has converted from Puritanism to Judaism and now wants to set up Early America 2 in his new home. However he dies and ....Ruth has to observe shloshim without Clarel Because Religious Prejudice so Clarel goes and contemplates becoming a gay monk:

And....meets the Attractive Lyonese man as well as being repeatedly romantically rejected by a fictionalised version of Nathaniel hawthorne and hearing the entire story of the whaleship Essex for NO good reason before returning to Jerusalem and discovering that Ruth....shloshim'd too hard without being able to repose on his manly protestant bosom and fucking Died. And that's the end!!!

o hey heeeeeres a question! what’s the deal with viktor :? idk if youve given lore on him yet but im Very curious
not sure if you wanted anything specific but i'm willing to lore drop about my boy :)
Viktor is an angel, specifically a Virtue, which according to Wikipedia is like middle-ranking.
Now in my lore, most angels don't come down to Earth often and just do their jobs in Heaven. But Viktor grew curious early on and started sneaking down. He loved it so much that he just kept visiting, eventually convincing his higher-ups to let him work from Earth instead.
Tabbris would spend much more time on Earth since they were a guardian angel. So when Viktor started sneaking down they would show him around. This lead to them growing close, friendship, qpr, yadda yadda.
Then Tabbris Falls. Viktor can't stand being on Earth without his best friend, so he stays up in Heaven while he grieves. He doesn't return to Earth for about 200 years. He then goes on to do his job as normal and explore a bit, catch up on what he missed.
Can't go too much into detail because spoilers, but Tabbris and Viktor don't see each other for about 1200 years. Then they reunite and end up as business partners, with Viktor becoming his supplier of holy water to use in demon hunts.
I'm not entirely sure how to organize this because there is SO much info I have about him. Prepare for nonsensical rambling.
Viktor loves space. Also physics, ("spirit of motion." see below) since he was there when everything was created. But he can't help you with physics homework. He knows how it all works but he doesn't like how humans explain it.
He found a stray kitten in 1926 and named her Lucky. Since he's immortal and has a fucked up perception of time, it took him a while to realize she has lived far beyond a normal cat's lifespan.
He's not entirely sure WHY she's still alive (not that he's complaining). At first he thinks his divinity is keeping her alive, but he also suspects she's just not a normal cat. He doesn't care, he loves his little weirdo.
Sidenote: I accidentally turned Lucky into a trans allegory. It's not really explained in-story, but long story short she likes being a cat. She wants to be one, so that's what she is.
As for Viktor's role as a Virtue, have wikipedia:
Viktor is also known for doing just enough work to keep his bosses off his back. If they wanted him to do more, they should have said so.
He doesn't like using miracles to influence people. Nor does he like converting people to specific religions, beliefs, etc. His usual methods involve gentle persuasion - a light nudge to get them to be better people. Though he's not against giving an earful to jackasses.
He likes messing with people.
Don't ask him about the dinosaurs.
He's scared of hot dog water. Not hot dogs, just the water.
He can play guitar. He has a bunch of them around his house.
He moves houses a lot since he doesn't like staying in one place long.
He does not give a shit about gender. He does get excited when Tabbris says "He's my girlfriend" or something similar.
He's somewhat inspired by Martin Blackwood.
He's majorly inspired by Tim Stoker.
He's also majorly inspired by Hermes (Hades games)
He's really fucking fast. Flash of light, zips in. Sometimes overshoots and does a lil flip to stick the landing bc he's silly.
In much MUCH earlier drafts he was a bubbly little dumbass named Nathaniel. he used to be BLONDE.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm can't think of anything else rn but i hope you enjoy my boy

Here are my Lethal company Medic/Xenobiologist OCs, Nathaniel and Vultur! Nate is heavily involved in Copycat's story and Vultur is part of @lethalcontracts's retrieval crew. Some additional details of them below (a lot of text!)
The two are foils for each other and have a big rivalry going on given that they are in a similar field and have highly contrasting morals and approaches to their studies. They both have lost a crew in the past and it continues to affect them to this day. They also have their own labs on Gordion and get paid extra for any new data they can provide to the Company.
Nate is very gentle at heart despite his blunt and strict nature. While visiting the dangerous moons, he makes sure everything goes as planned and if there are signs of unexpected danger-- he will not hesitate to cancel the mission if it means the crew goes back home alive. Will teleport you back to the ship, just in case, a little too early, because it's better to be safe than sorry.
Although he has a lot of worry and compassion for others, he often remains calm in dangerous situations for the sake of others. He always has a sharp eye on the monitor and all of his team members and after losing his crew once, nobody has been left behind. Even if it means he will have to go inside to get them back himself. You can always rely on him to keep the team safe, whether it's practically by making sure everyone is out of the building in one piece or listening and soothing them after a scary situation.
He uses mainly stun grenades and always has a walkie-talkie with him. It is very important to him to be able to communicate with his team, and he wants to avoid causing harm to the creatures unless it's a life-or-death situation. "Stun and run", as he would say is better than risking your life in a fight.
Nathaniel is taking care of Copycat and although he claims he is just an assistant to him, he does care about the masked deeply. CC lets him study his body and brings him data on the creatures he encounters and in exchange, Nate has learned to pause his body's decaying process indefinitely. He also makes sure his colleagues don't get their hands on him and that the eager creature doesn't end up on missions that are too dangerous for him. They often swap places in their usual team depending on the danger level of the Moons. While CC is on the ship, Nate resides in his laboratory on Gordion and when it's his time to step in, CC returns to visit his creature friends on Rend.
Not everything is all sunshine and rainbows though, as Nate has been infected by an unknown creature for quite some time now. While he has managed to stabilize his condition in a way that the infection doesn't spread, it's not yet fully removed. He is trying to find out what caused it and how to cure it, if possible. This is kept a secret from everyone else, of course as he doesn't want to add more burdens on their shoulders. As a more lighthearted fact, he adores cute things. Especially cats. Which is partially the reason CC was named the way he is.
Vultur. Oh Vultur. Where Nate is full of gentle warmth he wants to share with others, this guy is a black hole that will only stare back at you coldly in your times of grief. After the loss of his team, he completely closed off emotionally. They hesitated once after that, and that caused him to lose half of his face to a Bracken, leaving scars that will forever remind them of their mistake. One they will not repeat ever again. He views feelings, especially during dire situations to be a distraction that must be dulled down. Something that shouldn't affect your decisions. It never leads to good things and he very much has personal experience of that.
After seeing his team convert because they couldn't kill their friend on time, he now seeks to know anything he can about the creatures of those snowy moons. Vultur will do anything they can to get that information. Whether it's locking masked into the ship and experimenting on them, or dragging them all the way back to Gordion to his laboratory-- nothing is off limits for them. They feel no remorse for what they do, as they still despise the maskeds who took his team from them. While he sees them as resources and more valuable alive, they won't hesitate to kill them on sight if they pose a danger to themselves or their team.
Most often Vultur uses a tranquilizer gun along with stun grenades to take down any Masked that wander in the ship. If he sees no value in them or there is the above mentioned danger, he will rip out the mask from their face and save it for later use. He is not above using regular shells either, so you will never truly know whether you're getting shot with a sedative or a life-ending bullet.
Just like Nate, Vultur remains calm in situations where many would otherwise stumble. Despite their cold nature, they do take good care of their crew and take pride in their work. No injuries go unnoticed and their team will be kept in top condition. Though they might think it's because untreated injuries pose a threat to the whole group and slow them down, there is still a heart deep down his chest. He doesn't want to lose another crew and while they aren't able to admit it to themselves, they do care. A lot more than they're comfortable with admitting.
#lethal company#lethal company oc#kisudraws#ocstuff#these are super messy but had to get them out of my system finally!#my guys!! my medics!! handing them out to you!!#nate is super important to copycat's lore so I'm happy to finally share deets of him!#vultur just kind of happened to be born because of the retrieval crew idea but I think they fit in the story wonderfully!#also who am I to say no to designing an unhinged doctor that would sell your soul for a corn chip

SAINTS OF THE DAY (May 3)

Philip was born in Bethsaida in Galilee and was one of the 12 Apostles that Jesus called.
Immediately, Philip began to convert others, finding his friend Nathaniel and telling him that Jesus was the one whom Moses and the other prophets had foretold.
James the Lesser is called “Lesser” because he was younger than the other Apostle by the same name, James the Great.
James the Lesser was related in some way to Jesus, and after Jesus’ Ascension into heaven, he became the head of the Church in Jerusalem.
He was martyred in the year 62.

for the character ask game: neil josten
no idea who this guy is but i know he exists bc of you and im seriously considering starting aftg just to find out more
YIPPEEE thank you for the ask !!!! i hope to succeed in converting you <3
How I feel about this character
literally THE feral character of all time. take the son of a serial killer, send him on the run, and give him 0 normal socialization and 100 trauma, and the end result is neil abram josten. his teammates mourn another character's death and neil is like wow. they have so much humanity. and then he spends the next three books caring & loving so deeply that it changes everyone around him for the better. one thing i love so much about him is that even though he grows so much over the course of the series, the core of him remains the same. he is vicious and cunning and still manages to have so much capacity for gentleness. he is not preoccupied with how people *should* be so he sees them for who they really are and meets them there – which is one of the main things that makes andrew fall for him. he delights me to no end. 70% of the time i want to cry when i think about him.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
andrew!!!!! obviously. otp of all time. also, depending on the context, jean. they are almost never endgame for me, but that almost makes the ship better. they love each other, and they always will, but that doesn't mean they have to be together, ya know?
My non-romantic OTP for this character
jean again. matt. kevin.
My unpopular opinion about this character
he's often watered down into a much more cheery and talkative person than he is, and it frustrates me a little. almost all of his dailogue especially in the first book is snappy, angry and vicious. he does Not join the team ready to make friends – his goal is simply to spend the last few months of his life playing the sport he loves. when he's depicted as super chatty and easy to get along with i go a little ??? because 75% of the time when he opens his mouth it is to antagonize whoever he is speaking to. he's a lovable person but he's not *nice*
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
canon ended in a good spot for the narrative, but it means we are missing out on all of the trauma-fallout. i want to see the *after* where neil is forced to face the trauma of everything that has happened to him – because that kind of trauma *will* catch up to him in a very big and devastating way. we see some panic attacks and dissociation in canon, including the dissociative switch between his neil and nathaniel identities (you can pry DID neil from my cold dead hands), but for the amount of trauma he has experienced, there's bound to be a lot fallout in the aftermath, and i want to see how he & his new family deal with it and pick up the pieces. (thank you fanfic writers for giving us so many versions of this)
anyway!!! thank you so much for the ask! i hope you're even more tempted to read the series now <3

After the arrival of Superman, the American government became uneasy with the existence of such powerful superhumans outside of their control. Once Superman revealed that his people were a race that had converted themselves into energy beings, top military scientists got to work attempting to replicate the process. Captain Nathaniel Adams volunteered for the project (animal testing proved impossible) and, utilizing the power of nuclear fission, his body was atomized.
At first, it seemed that the experiment was a failure, and he had simply died. It soon turned out, however, that Adams’ psyche had indeed survived through sheer force of will, albeit in a much less concentrated form than had been hoped, what with the limitations of mere human science. Even with intense effort, he could only barely interact with the physical world. But, over a period of months, he and the scientists were able to come up with a solution to this problem.
The military had salvaged a cache of semi-organic alien metal from the Brainiac invasion. Designed to house Brainiac’s electric consciousness, it turned out to be the perfect conduit to house Adams’. Working together, Adams and the scientists were able to concentrate his entire energy form into a new metal body, thus making him the energy being bound to physical form that they had always wanted.
Ever the loyal soldier, Captain Adams was undeterred by his ordeal, and continued with the plan to be a superhero in the employ of the U.S. government. He fights valiantly to protect the American people from threats both superhuman and military. He didn’t even question the orders to join the Justice League and gather intel on their weaknesses. The longer he fought alongside the heroes, however, the more conflicted his loyalties became. If he is ever given the order to turn on them, he will have a difficult choice to make.
Between his metallic body and the sheer power provided by his energy form, Captain Atom is approximately as strong and invulnerable as Superman. He is able to absorb or generate any form of energy or radiation–generally in the form of energy blasts–at varying intensities. He can even use electromagnetism to imitate telekinesis, though using it with any precision takes a lot of concentration. He mostly uses it to fly or generate force fields. Unlike Superman, however, whose energy is infused into every cell of his body, Captain Atom is more like an energy being contained within a metal-flesh suit. This means that in the rare event his metal skin is pierced, the energy within tends to explode outward, leaving Captain Atom weak or even unconscious, and a wide surrounding area devastated.

Gravity Falls: Northwest Generations
So, this thought had come to me when I rewatched 'Irrational Treasure' and was reminded of when Gravity Falls was found.
With the release of Journal 3 after the show ended, a looooooooooot of things got a bit retconned. And I feel like one is the number of generations in the Northwest family.
In Irrational Treasure, it was said by Pacifica that she was Nathaniel's great-great-granddaughter. So, 5 generations.
That's all well and good, so why talk about it. Well, if you wanna go with Journal 3 canonicity (I go back and forth depending on if it works narratively), Gravity Falls was founded in 1842.
I don't know. This seems off to me. Like...my maternal great grandma was around up until I was 18 years old (and I still believe that heartbreak was the main cause of her death), she was in her mid-80s. Not sure about my great-great grandparents, as I never really got to learn about them (Hell, my maternal great grandma's dad was a mystery, even to her, she never knew him). But I would take a guess that whatever age they were when they had my great grandma, it wasn't close to the 170 years mark.
Basically, what I'm getting at here is that five generations hardly adds up to 170 years.
According to one website that converts years to generations, 170 years can add up to 6 generations (and this is probably taking account to the average)
I don't think it was ever stated how old Nathaniel was when he 'founded' Gravity Falls 170 years ago, but from what I see between Irrational Treasure, The Northwest Manor Mystery, and Journal 3 (all kinda different from eachother), I'd say that the man was probably in his forties in 1842.
The age of pregnancy differs, so it's hard to say about how many generations would work. I'll use my own family as an example:
I don't know how old my great grandma when she had her oldest child (my grandma), my grandma was 18 years old when she had my mom, my mom was 25 when she had my older sister, and my sister had her first child at 26 (a few months away from her 27th birthday).
Of the known ages, it adds up to 69 (or 70 if you wanna take in account of my sister's almost birthday) years to make four generations. Even if I can estimate how old my great grandma was she had my grandma (say 30s at the latest as she had two more kids after my grandma and, you know, menopause), it wouldn't have been enough to make it to the 170 year mark.
With the Journal 3 canon, there could be more than 5 generations of the Northwest family.
Now, something to keep in mind that while women loses their ability to have children due to menopause (usually in their 40s or 50s), men can remain fertile into their older years, though the rate does still decrease.
Not sure if I wanna try out and guessimate the number of generations in the Northwest family.
I can try if I can get 25 likes on this.

First time Watching Sinners Anon: we laughed at how Cornbread was converted and Remmick yelling "Sammie!" The way he did 💀 we was walking out and momma was like "that was a good movie, I see why people watch it more than once. I will not be doing that though."
But I feel like I kinda need to because the movie is definitely told with sound. Cause when Delta Slim was talking about his friend, I kinda had to lean to hear I guess the music they used to play? And then the fact that his friend got lynched and you can hear screams. And then the scene where they're like "some people have the power of music." And how they combined music and dance throughout generations together was definitely jarring, especially with the dancing.
Though personally, the argument i would like you to settle between me and my momma is when Smoke killed Annie before turning and how Mary screamed no and Stack was like "why would you do that?"
She thinks it's because Remmick wanted her knowledge of supernatural/spiritual. Me and my brother was going that Mary and Stack wanted Annie "alive" was separate from Remmick's plans for Sammie. In your opinion, do you think its either or, or a bit of both?
Well Remmick never even mentioned Annie or took an interest in her knowledge. I think that Remmick is genuinely supposed to want fellowship and community with the people in the Juke
youtube
I think that when he says he can offer them a better life and be family and have community, he means it, Ryan says as much:
The first line uttered about Remmick by Chayton (Nathaniel Arcand), the Choctaw leader who is pursuing him, is “He is not what he seems.” I tried to lean into the idea that Remmick appears to be this thirtysomething-year-old white guy with a North Carolina accent. Still, he is a centuries-old vampire from Ireland who was bitten when he was thirty or so.
Remmick’s survived for a longtime and I like that he sees the bullshit that is American racism. Rather than the KKK, he identifies with what’s going on in the juke joint, that he wants to be a part of it, and he wants all of them to be a part of him.
So when Smoke kills Annie, I think Mary and Stack are upset because they're upset but also because Remmick is upset.
