Continuing with National Preparedness Month covering First Aid Kits: If you own a first aid kit, it’s a great idea to inspect them every six months. Inspecting them at the beginning and half way through the year helps keep you up to date on meds, Over The Counter (OTC) meds, equipment, supplies, gloves if they need to be replace due to expiration or no longer serviceable. Any items considered no longer safe for use such as gauze, tourniquets, etc can be used for training purposes once replaced. Better to be safe and know before needing it and you can’t use it. The kit on the left is my @maglitetactical backpack made by @bdstacticalgear for range training, hunting, off-roading convoys and road trips. The two on the right are my @adventuremedicalkits first aid kits for hiking, camping and group events as well as vehicle kit. #firstaid #firstaidtraining #firstaidkit #firstaidkits #trauma #traumakit #survival #adventuremedicalkits #bdstactical #maglitetactical #northamericanrescue #hiking #camping #hunting #fishing #training #emergencypreparedness #bushcraftandprepping #shotshowmedia #nationalpreparednessmonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CiyTwJgPQkS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

*Giveaway Post* Foraging is great but it shouldn’t be your #1 plan for prepping purposes. Why? Because foraging expends energy/calories that will likely not be recovered through your foraged finds. Yes, you might be less hungry but you still could starve. Why bother learning then? 1- Bc foraged foods added to foods you’ve stocked up on will stretch your stock 2- Wild foods are the best (and free) 3- They also make excellent natural medicines 😉 I’m the photo we are Tincturing chicken of the woods. September is National Preparedness Month, as we close in on the month it’s not to late to be preparing for ourselves and our families. Our Government says to be able to support yourself without help up to 72 hours, the @mtnhouse 3 day emergency food supply helps to make that easy. #uglytent #mhambsdr #mh3day #prepardness #nationalpreparednessmonth https://www.instagram.com/p/BoHv6duhrE2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ctz99c2971co

Disasters happen right? Nothing you can do will be able to stop it! The only thing you can do is try to anticipate and prepare for any circumstance that may arise. National Preparedness Month, which means it's time to plan.

If you’re in a large city, there’s a chance of ending up in the middle of a protest or riot. This post focuses on the “on foot” scenario. Things to consider: Blending in beats sticking out, maintain a low profile. Maintain situational awareness at all times. When possible, avoid crowds. Have a get home plan including alternate routes. Use known areas of protests & riots to aid your planning. If possible, shelter in place until things die down.⁣ Monitor local and social media for updates⁣, live feeds and real time information. Notify friends, coworkers and family of your situation. Consider a Get Home Bag. If in the middle of a protest or riot: ⁣Don’t stick around. One minute you’re watching and the next you’re in it.⁣ ⁣ If you can’t avoid it, avoid instigators and agitators, they’re not hard to miss. Be aware of large groups of people showing up wearing the same clothing, masks, hats and backpacks (uniformity). They’re there for a reason. If a protest or mob is moving in one direction, consider breaking off. If they’re going east, go north or south a few blocks over. Use a map app to get you back on track if you’re unfamiliar with the area. #riots #riots2020 #losangeles #riot #protests #civilunrest #urban #urbanjungle #safety #whattodo #nationalpreparednessmonth #city #portland #seattle #minneapolis #grayman #urbanwarfare #besafe #besafeoutthere #bushcraftandprepping https://www.instagram.com/p/CE-P6xOp4Sq/?igshid=6a2e9l3upe9w

****GIVEAWAY POST**** Yesterday after watching our stories so many of you reached out with questions. The most asked question was “Why do you not give prep room tours?” The same reason we don’t give bangstick and pew pew room tours, property tours, and home tours. Security. Our homes, faces of young children in our family, and property are not meant for the internet. When you give home tours to strangers on the internet you’re giving potential intruders a map of your home. Maybe it’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I don’t want anyone from the internet to know the entire contents and the layout of my home nor the lay of my land. I don’t give potential intruders a reason and a map. You shouldn’t either. Regardless of how many bangsticks you have. I also don’t share photos of barns or vehicles. If you’re here looking for that, I’m not sorry. We also don’t discuss how many acres we have or exactly where it is located. Why don’t we show any family babies? Pedos exist yall. Showing baby faces gives pedos a reason to keep coming back and a reel to enjoy and some day potentially- a face to recognize and when potentially take in an instant when your eye is diverted. I said it and I’m not sorry. Online Security is just as important as in person security yall. If you werent taking it seriously before today. I hope you will now. Pet Safety After a Natural or Man-Made Disaster
After an emergency, familiar scents and landmarks may have changed. Pets can become confused and lost, so it’s important to keep pets on leash or in a carrier when they’re being transported or when you go outside. Some hazards to be aware of for pets and people include snakes and other wildlife, especially after flooding, and downed power lines.
Returning home
Check your home for sharp objects, spilled chemicals, and exposed wiring to protect your family and your pets from injury.
The behavior of animals may change dramatically after a flood, flash flood, thunderstorm, or hurricane. Normally quiet and friendly animals may become irritable.
Monitor animals closely and only release them in a safe and secure environment.
Contact a veterinarian if you notice any signs of stress, discomfort, or illness in your pets.
Finding a lost pet
Make sure that your family is in a safe location before you begin your search.
If you are in a shelter that houses pets, inform one of the pet caretakers. Give the pet caretaker a missing pet flyer.
Many shelters and organizations will house pets lost during disasters. Contact your local humane society, animal welfare organization, or county or state animal response team to find the shelters or organizations near you. The National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition may also be able to help find the right local response organization.
In addition to shelters and rescue organizations, you can contact local animal control about your lost pet and post missing pet flyers in the area once conditions are safe.
If your pet has a microchip, call the microchip company to let them know your pet is missing and make sure all the information about your pet including your current contact information is updated and current.
Pet first aid
Emergency treatment and first aid for pets should never be used as a substitute for veterinary care. But, it may save your pet’s life before you can get your pet to a veterinarian.
The American Veterinary Association offers specific advice for basic first aid in the case of poisoning, seizures, fractures, external and internal bleeding, burns, choking, heatstroke, and what to do if your pet has no heartbeat or is not breathing.
Tips for handling injured pets
Never assume that even the gentlest pet will not bite or scratch if injured.
Pain and fear can make animals unpredictable or even dangerous.
Don’t attempt to hug an injured pet, and always keep your face away from its mouth, which might scare the animal more or cause them pain.
Perform any contact with your pet slowly and gently.
Stop if your animal becomes more agitated or stressed.
Try to get your pet to a veterinarian as quickly as possible without risking injury or illness to yourself or your family.
