Back in 2007 I went to the webs anniversary tent sale. I bought a bag or alpaca. I cleaned a little by hand and made a Barbie skirt.

Then in 2008, when I was pregnant, I sent the whole thing off to be commercially processed. A few months after I had my third kid I got a couple large boxes back. I spun that and made some alpaca slippers for my husband (very warm but shed a lot).

I spun the rest of the fiber by the summer of 2015, and then it rested. I pulled the skeins out this year and started a sweater. The yarn had two different twists (about half was S and half was Z), so I held one of each together and knit.

I started march 1 and finished it may 30. Many weeks in there knitting time was shortened to make room for other projects. I also realized that finishing a project with this fiber after all these years stirred up some feelings and sometimes I had to move a bit slowly through the sweater decisions because of that. Each step took some thought before I could move on. It felt so good to finish! It then took a few days to dry after a good washing.

The pattern is called Miranda - and I absolutely love the pocket. It’s not the best time of year to try on a 100% alpaca sweater, but it worked - and now I have another reason to be excited for fall!

I have a little yarn left, and I’ve already incorporated it into my current scrap project!

thinking again about corrie guards fundraising. today i am thinking about the most comprehensive production line of fairy cakes you’ve seen in your life.

“harris, what’s this item line for flour?” fox asked, walking into the quartermaster’s office, datapad held before him like a blaster. “there’s two hundred extra kilos of it. are you planning to use the stuff for munitions?”

harris didn’t look up from her own ‘pad. “you sighed off on it, right? sir?”

“yes. because you backdated the ‘request’ and the stuff is squatting in the delivery bay, inviting something called weevils, according to the supply officers. why do i now know what weevils are, harris? also why do you need a venator weight of…” fox made a show of consulting his datapad. “butter, sugar—“

harris looked up. “did you get the flimsi cases?”

“corporal harris. i did not put in the requisition form. you put in the requisition form. did you order flimsi cases? if so, may i be so forward as to ask kriffin’ why— the haran is this now?”

having booted open the office door like he was working a drugs bust, thire marched in, shoulder checking fox; fox tried not to take it personally, since thire was obscured behind a tower of boxes. he kicked thire in the shin nonetheless.

“what the kark— sir, is that you? didn’t know you baked,” thire said.

“i don’t—“

“he bakes?” harris asked, speaking past fox like he was a line item. “thorn didn’t say he baked.”

“what does thorn—“

“here,” thire said, again speaking over fox, as he thunked the boxes on the edge of harris’ desk. several styluses rolled to the floor to join their fallen comrades. neither thire nor harris reacted. “as ordered. you owe me three arm sessions. minimum.”

harris sighed gustily but nodded. “did you get the vanilla?”

“it’ll be here tonight. i talked to my smuggler contact in—“

fox remembered from command training that retreat was a valid option when overwhelmed by forces of utter horseshit. he made for the door.

two days later he ate his weight in fairy cakes and immediately signed off on harris’ waiting requisition orders.

Y’all I’m so sad. I keep playing video games made by one or two people and now I want to make a video game soooooooo bad so I can design my perfect game and more importantly make the art. But!! Programming is my mortal enemy she and I do NOT get along. Maybe I could make something simple in terms of programming like a visual novel but I want more involved gameplay :,( I really want a fun video game project now

I should not I should be lying in the grass on a sunny day and feel the warm beams of the sun on my skin while I breathe in the fresh spring air.

steve doesn't have an eating disorder. he doesn't count calories or force vomit. he doesn't step on a scale unless he has to.

but he doesn't always remember to eat.

his mum kept an eye on his food intake when he was younger and had too much baby fat left for her taste. his various coaches has given him different diets to keep in top form.

steve never noticed his sense of hunger disappearing or how much of a chore eating became. he really only ate around other people.

it doesn't become a problem for a while. when he still has his friends and his parents still come home regularly, it's only a day here and there. when he leaves his friends and his parents are home less, he still has lunch and time spent with nancy.

after he breaks up with nancy - and she broke his heart - he still has lunch. and the budding friendship with dustin brings him over to the hendersons.

but then steve graduates. and dustin goes to summer camp. and a minimum wage job doesn't care about lunch break.

steve doesn't realise he's eating less at first. he notices having less energy, he notices that he's more moody, but he's also working his first job. it's draining to keep up a good mood for customers all day, and to deal with robin's you suck column.

it's when he's taking a smoke break that he realises how bad it is. he had fumbled with his lighter, had to bend down to pick it up.

one moment he's standing.

the next, he's on the ground.

there's a blank space in his memory.

it takes him a while to figure out the cause. but it's a rainy day, so it can't be heatstroke, and they've had less customers due to the weather.

the only thing he can think of is that he has yet to eat.

and he can't remember when he last felt hungry.

Idk where else to ask this, but uhhh... anyone know where to get good quality fabrics and leather at a decent price? Preferably IN store, so I'm able to feel them before purchasing

The shawl is done! And blocked! …Or should I call it a blanket? I guess it depends on how you use it.

It took about 43ish ounces of fiber and about 5 1/2 weeks of knitting. It only took a couple time-outs, once when my needle broke, and then once near the end when I had to spin and figure out the edge. It was about 60” diagonal before blocking and about 90” while pinned. Once we took the pins out it shrunk in just a bit to 88.5” diagonal and 63.5” across any one side.

Two of the fibers were spun during tour de fleece last July, two were spun for this project during February, and the rest were all older (some were probably spun in 2010 or 2011). The fibers are all listed on my ravelry page (my name there is workbasket - let me know if you need a link).

My tall husband and daughter were both eyeing the finished shawl, one more strongly than the other, but it’s all mine for now!

I was going to give it a catchy name, but I’m still trying to decide! Any suggestions? Something to do with the split rainbows or the mix of natural and color?
