Can I just say? So fucking happy that the gang got Mira to switch sides right away. They brought her into this mess and then left her there with the princesses -- not their fault I know -- but then to have Pinocchio’s first priority in battle be to magic himself over to the girl he and his friends saved from his island (whose dad gotten fuckin eaten in front of her by his story) and talk to her about their snowball fight??? Like she was all alone! Her story is so tragic and she was all alone, just being tossed from group to group, always in danger, no control, and then the Boy of Destiny was like ‘no, you are our friend, and we will help you have choices from this point on, even if that choice is to remove yourself from the danger and not help us, that’s fine’.
Also love that that was followed by Pinocchio shoving Gerard/The Frog, and going “Ok! See? That wasn’t so hard! Now go do that with your wife!!!”
ALSO! YLFA’S FIRST MOVE REGARDING MIRA BEING TO FINALLY BE HER MOUNT, MOVE HER AROUND THE BATTLE BOTH BECAUSE YLFA CAN RUN FARTHER AND SO MIRA DOESN’T HAVE TO BE IN PAIN IS SO SO GOOD! YLFA ALWAYS WANTING TO CARRY HER FRIENDS AROUND, BUT ESPECIALLY FROM THE MOMENT THEY MET WANTING TO CARRY MIRA AROUND MAKES MY CHRONIC PAIN HAVING ASS SO EMOTIONAL, UGH!

I feel like there is going to be a princess schism in the upcoming episodes because on one hand you have Snow White and Cinderella and Rapunzel and La Bête who seem to be pretty committed to the idea that they are inherently corrupted and in order for something better to happen all traces of the past including themselves must be destroyed
VS
Elody, who just met the man who failed her deeply and died a hero in a rather futile battle, coming back and apologizing for his mistakes and acknowledging that things are hard and that he let her down, but he is committed to becoming better, to trying, because that’s all you really can do and even if she never reciprocates again he will continue to try to be better, not for her sake but for the sake of others that he has grown attached to
Rosamund, who despite having the shit kicked out of her in terms of destiny and unsure if true (romantic) love even exists is fully committed to the group she has found herself in and in particular wants to make their lives as happy as possible from trying Pinnochio’s awful cocktails to hyping Ylfa up and trying to get her a training bra, Rosamund who is so full of love, maybe not for the stories, but for the people in them, and on some level recognizes that she is in control at least partially of ‘the stories within the stories’ that hurt her the most and she can tell different kinder ones
And Mira, who we don’t know a whole lot about yet other than that she would rather her Prince be happy without her than dead, who reconciled with Alba’s role in her narrative quickly and doesn’t seem to blame for the choices she made, and whose story in the neverafter diverged from its most common, oldest rendition not because she chose to kill her prince like Alba expected but because she refused to commit suicide after losing everything, because she found herself in pain and alone and separated from everything she ever knew and REFUSED to die

the thing that i can’t get over is gerard *told* elody he didn’t want to leave her, that she had a place in his adventuring party when shit hit the fan, and that if he went to find rosamund the princesses might stop him from coming back to get elody, but she told him to leave so he left,
and he DID the hard brave thing and ventured deeper back into the castle to find elody when everyone else ran, but immediately got almost killed in one turn and was FORCED to run away this time, there was no fighting back, staying would have meant leaving elody with his dead body for a SECOND time, but the princesses are so wrapped in their own misery they’ll never tell her that

ROUND 1C, MATCH 8 OUT OF 8!
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Mira:
She’s a badass and I love her
She embodies one of the truest parts of the Little Mermaid dating back to the original story: She loves the prince, even if he does not love her in return. It isn’t out of desperation or a desire to be sought and wanted, it is simple and pure love for another soul. A love so true that she lets him go without so much as a word of protest because when you truly love someone your greatest wish is for their happiness.
Will beat the shit out of the sea witch (good for her).
Bug:
Their a bug that falls in love with a human they rescue and becomes human, but even when they don't get to keep their human body, they still get to be with their love. It's a sci-fi fairytale musical.
Little Mermaid meets Starship Troopers musical starring awesome puppets and the most trans coded main character ever. Please. Please vote Bug Starship I love him. Go watch Kick it Up a Notch from Starship. Go watch Status Quo from Starship. You will understand.
He's a bug and he lives in space on a bug planet but he really wants to be a starship ranger which you can only be if you are a human and then one day a spaceship lands on his planet and so he goes to an evil bug called Pincer who then helps him become a human. And Bug falls in love with a human on the spaceship and it's very sweet. The musical and storyline are based on the little mermaid story, the creators themselves called it "the little mermaid but in space". Bug wanting to be a human/a starship ranger and achieving that and falling in love with a human is very much like the little mermaid
Starship is a musical that can only be described as The Little Mermaid meets Starship Troopers. It follows Bug, an alien bug who dreams of being a Starship Ranger, a galactic explorer/soldier, but the rigid confines of bug society keeps him trapped in a job he hates. He reaches a Starship Ranger named February from the hive and immediately falls in love with her. In order to be with her and pursue his dream, he makes a deal with a giant scorpion named Pincer who through sci-fi bs gives him a human body. Near the end of the second act he sacrifices his human body and returns to his bug body, and saves the day and wins February's heart.
It's truly the ultimate Little Mermaid. He has multiple songs, and his bug body is portrayed by a puppet!! Vote for Bug!!
“It's a big, big, universe
So many dimensions
And unanswered questions
Not to mention
Life
What an invention
Life
There's no choice involved in what you are given
One mind, one voice, one body to live in
It's a short, small thing we lead
With so much potential
Pointless or essential
Which one can I be?
Where do I fit?
Where do I stand?
Who are they to say what I am?
And how can I stay inside this awful world I know?
I need a way out
I need an escape
I'd rather be dead than to live in this place
I wish that something or someone could just take it all away
Someone take me away”
dear god….. can anybody hear me…. (song from starship)
They are the purest little mermaid adaptation done in the most unuque way. An alien insect gets turned into a human, a race he has always loved and admired, to be with the woman he fell in love with. Also just a great musical.
Bug's whole arc is so so in tune with that of the little mermaid. He is an alien who has fallen in love with humanity through a crashed spaceship and trades his place in the hive for a chance to be with both with the human he's falling for and to be a Starship Ranger. He body swaps with human in a cryogenic pod! It's literally sci-fi Little Mermaid!
