i'm surprised i haven't seen any text posts yet about the Unsubtle Differences between astarion’s tiefling party/high approval forest scene and the one you get after the goblin party.
there’s something so terribly interesting about how the conversation afterward plays out depending on which variation you pursue.
like, most people have seen the tiefling party version by now. astarion basking in the sunlight the morning after, playing off most of what tav says with relative ease, even when they ask about his scars and he tells them about cazador. his cadence is smooth and composed, his smile almost friendly, even though you know, as the viewer, he’s playing a game of manipulation at this point. the only real crack in his demeanor is if tav notices that cazador’s “poem” was written in infernal, which, understandably, startles him.
but recently i watched the goblin party version of this same scene, and everything reads so differently. unlike at the tiefling party, it’s still the middle of the night when astarion tries to leave, thinking tav is asleep—almost immediately after the act, in fact. when tav does speak to him, he’s visibly nervous, halting and stammering in the middle of lines delivered unflinchingly in the other version of the scene. he gestures broadly and fidgets more while talking, his smile comes and goes. there’s even some of his distinctive high pitched, fake laughter sprinkled throughout the exchange, almost identical to later scenes where he's very, very obviously uncomfortable (like if raphael mocks him and magics off astarion's shirt to show the party his scars in act 2, or when confronting the gur children in their cell in act 3, etc etc).
siding with the goblins represents something deeply familiar to astarion, a level of cruelty he's more than familiar with and embraces likely because cruelty and duplicity, to him, go hand-in-hand with the power and freedom he craves so badly—but he won't stay the night with this tav, even if he approves of their actions. no, in this case, he'll keep to what's familiar and attempt to leave them in the forest under the cover of the very same darkness he resents having been cast into by cazador. when he gets caught, it sets him on edge, and everything he says becomes such a blatant lie to save face that tav would have to be completely oblivious not to see through him, or maybe just not care enough to.
but if tav saves the refugees? challenges his worldview and comes out victorious? oh, he'll complain of the poor rewards for his trouble at the party and whine about it being boring, but he decides to stay with tav through the night while they're asleep and on past dawn. he takes a moment to enjoy the morning sunlight, returned to his life after two centuries without. the same is true if you have high enough approval that he asks before the party, in which case, you've almost certainly hit his biggest approval gains: trusting him and supporting his safety. maybe he doesn't trip over his words when he speaks because, well, maybe this is someone he doesn't have to worry about. someone who's already more than proven themselves a foolish, heroic sort with a bleeding heart or otherwise demonstrated that they're already in his corner. in other words, not a threat—at least not to him.
does any of this make sense. i wanna study this guy under a microscope.

I think, because of the nature of their friendship and the nature of the lie, that Arin will forgive Sora far, far sooner than he will forgive the rest of the ninja.
And I think, because of her own nature and the nature of their parting, that Sora will not forgive herself until long after that.
(aka i think there will be a point in the show when Sora thinks Arin still hates her for lying to him while at the same time, somewhere out there, Arin wishes and wishes and wishes he could tell her otherwise)

I just played the ep 5 of New Gen on my secondary account with Amanda and wow, It surprised me how different ep 5 is depending on whether you do it on Jason route or on route with someone from Devenementiel.
*This review and opinion contains slight spoilers*
In case anyone is curious: the general tone of the ep when you play with Amanda (and I assume with the other crushes in your company) is all more fun and relaxed and you get a win on your project since the first moment, while when you play on Jason route there is a constant feeling of tension, you did it bad with the project the first time and that's why you feel desesperate until the point to trust on Jason. The results of activities ib both proyects are also a bit different (because Jason has contacts everywhere and can get even more stuff) and the final feeling when all your cowokers congratulates you for the final proyect is very diffenrent too because in one of them is joyful and in the enemy route is unconfortable for the sense of betrayal.
I want to clarify ofc that I'm not saying one is better than the other, I mean those routes options about making the project alone (+ with your enemy/crush later) or with your fav cowoker/crush have very different things during the ep and that makes replaying the ep not repetitive or boring at all, which makes me very happy and it keeps me interested in the story about other different posibilities in future eps depending of your choices. I also love that in every Devenementiel route the final date is in a different place.
Mcl University Life was my favorite mcl season but one complaint I had back then is that in some eps, when replaying the ep with another route, almost all the events were too similar.
And talking about differences, Amanda is really a totally different person depending if you're on her route or not XD She's rather cold if she's only your coworker, while she's the sweetest person ever if she's your crush. Besides that vibes "friends to lovers" of her route is so adorable! asaijkashashn!! <33
Me living my perfect The Bridgertons dreams with my enemies to lover kanthony as Lily and Jason and my friends to lovers polin as Bianca and Amanda, yaaaas!
Also it was so perfect to me Amanda said she was princess Sisi at her birthday party while I answered that my Sucrette dressed as a knight at her birthday. Yaaas let my woman be your knight, my princess! 💜💜💜 hahah, I'll live in a palace with this woman in the future, mark my words.
And the final date shooping the accesories was very cute. Amanda blushing!! And my Sucrette blushing too! They're so shy, caring and cheerful together. Their smiles, the little touchs, the complicity… And the music in the special scene was so soft, with piano and violin notes… I love it <3 OOHH Beemoov I'd love sm if you gimme a scene about them dancing at a fancy party in a future chapter ToT
btw, this ep with Amanda cost me 1450 PAs. I used 3 jokers and I found uncle Archi. Jason's route was 1769 PAs (I only used one jokers here though, but the price is always a bit more expensive on Jason's route anyway)

AND ANOTHER THING WHILE IM ON THE TOPIC
I feel like Knuckles the series is another one of those times that Tails was right there, and what I mean by this, is Wade should not have been in the focus of the show, sorry don't care lol. He's a fine side character, incompetent white man who doesn't do anything well and never gets consequences for it is fine, but we didn't need another show centered around that topic.
Now, I may be biased bc Tails is my favorite but if we needed to give Knuckles a journey about learning to find home and we needed to give him a powerful sidekick who also learns a lesson, Tails is right there. Tails, who grew up without a family entirely/a family who hated him is learning to accept a new family, and Knuckles, who had an entire family but lost them all is accepting that it's okay to find a new one. That literally could've been the plot and we could've kept all the shenanigans that happened, minus the Wade Whipple bowling tournament plot, and the copaganda.
The elder guardians would've loved for Tails (or even Sonic, or ffs MADDIE) to be the newest successors of their tribe, and he would've been perfect for it. A young, hopeful, bright mind, still malleable to learn the ways of the tribe and no ego to get in the way, and an overall good kid.
Plus I feel like what most of us want is to see the boys interact, not some random white guy.
