the school day was almost coming to an end as y/n walked back into the dreaded door of her class after going to the restroom.

she took a huge sigh as she sat back in her seat, not too far from the boy she liked, park sunghoon.

“okay class, since we’re just gonna be doing our assignment, i’m gonna let you guys move around. go ahead and sit where you like,” the teacher announced with a smile.

in seconds, students scrambled around to find their friends. y/n huffed out another sigh after realizing her friends were gone. min-su ditched, ji-woo got sick and stayed home, and dae was doing a make up test for another class.

“damn i really am alone today,” she mumbled to herself while taking out her phone.

sudden movements were made to her empty table and her eyes landed on two guy friends.

“you look lonely y/n,” one of them said with a smile.

she rolled her eyes at him. “shut up..,” she replied, laughing with a wide grin.

as her two friends sat in the table with her, she heard a clear scoff come from the back of her. y/n’s eyes widened, suddenly remembering that sunghoon most likely saw the two guys approach her — the two guys he didn’t recognize as their shared friends, but only hers.

she didn’t see it because she avoided his gaze, but the man was burning holes through the other two, sending glares as his tongue poked out of his cheek.

while her friend talked in her ear, she drowned it out with her attention lingering on hoon’s reaction that she couldn’t see.

“y/n?” her friend called out to her.

“hm? oh sorry,” she said with an apologetic smile. “continue on.”

as her friend yapped on and on, to which she was actually paying attention to, he immediately stopped once he noticed something distracting.

“oh my god y/n, guess who just sat next to him.” he harshly whispered next to her.

slowly, y/n draped her head over to where sunghoon was. her eyes blew up in shock — “mei?? mei’s sitting next to him?”

she felt her heartbeats in her throat, everything almost spinning in her head as she huffed out a sigh.

mei, her old friend who was deemed a little too toxic and got cut off from the friend group, decisively sat next to y/n’s known crush — sunghoon, who didn’t seem bothered at all.

“fuck,” she mumbled to herself, subtly rolling her eyes and turning her head back to her friends.

“you okay?” she heard one of them ask. she furiously shook her head — “no but.. it’s whatever. we’re not even together,” she said with a scoff.

“you’re definitely acting like you are,” the other friend said with a teasing laugh.

“i will end you,” y/n blatantly said with a straight voice. “whatever, it’s fine.”

she went back to her two male friends who were now making jokes about a game they played. soon after, her cousin, who was the girlfriend to one of her friends joined the group.

“hey y/n,” she greeted with an eye smile.

“hi eun!” y/n said back.

“did you see sunghoon with-“

“yes, we’re gonna move on from that.” y/n heaved, rolling her eyes before shaking her head.

at this point, she almost didn’t care if hoon and mei could hear her. she was clearly pissed and nothing could calm her down.

as eun opened her mouth to speak, a sudden notification from her cousin’s phone stopped her. y/n’s eyes immediately checked in hopes that one of her friends had responded to her text, only to receive one from sunghoon.

‘You okay, y/n?’

y/n immediately scoffed, turning her head to the side of where hoon was.

his eyes that poked through his glasses suddenly met hers as they almost sat side by side, the little space between the tables separating them apart. she nearly softened at how meaningful he looked, almost apologizing with just his eyes that she could get lost in.

she fell hard for him.

“hoonie??” y/n suddenly heard mei call to him.

her eyes widened and she automatically let out a loud scoff. she let her eyes blink repeatedly as she watched her so-called situationship look back at the girl. she swiped her tongue through her teeth in jealousy, unable to calm down her heart rate at the name call.

“hoonie?” she guffawed with an eye roll. “hoonie???”

her voice slightly raised, catching the rest of her friends attention.

“did you just hear what she said?” she harshly criticized to the group, folding her arms and trying to calm down before sunghoon was fully aware.

“she’s just messing with you, y/n. you know that, don’t let it get to you.” her cousin comforted with her brows knitted together in a reassurance look.

y/n’s hands tightened into a fist, nails digging into the flesh as she began growing envious of her old friend called mei.

however, a sudden squeak in her chair was made when she moved around. it became her breaking point when she stood with a groan, going to the front of the class and picking up a perfectly fine chair to replace the loose one she sat in.

as she walked back to her table where her friends were, her eyes instantly landed on mei by accident — noticing a soft scoff and eye roll appear on her face towards her before attempting to get close to sunghoon.

y/n’s mouth gaped open in shock, turning to look at the boy if he saw, only to see that he gave her a blank face. no expression nor emotion was displayed, and it only brewed more rage in the girl he liked.

‘so that’s how it is then?’ she thought to herself with an amused grin forming on her face — ‘fine, i can play that game too.’

y/n moved her position from almost side to side with him, to facing her full back against him. she could no longer see his handsome features that paired perfectly with his glasses as the back of their heads almost bunked against each others with the same, pissed demeanor.

the two guy friends and her cousin awkwardly looked at each other, sharing the same glance that screamed — ‘should we do something?’

“go on,” y/n said with a monotone voice, gesturing for them to continue on with their topic in gaming.

as class continued on for a few minutes longer, her friends remained talking as she kept quiet — feeling best to not say much as the thought of her crush and her old friend consumed her.

she’d hear the faked out giggles from mei and the awkward laughs directed from sunghoon, both floating through her ears.

her eyes were almost filled with tears with the thought of them enjoying each other’s presence.

y/n indeed could not play the game.

she bit her lips, almost piercing through the barrier of flesh as she pleaded to not let tears fall because of something so stupid.

her hands shakily pulled out her phone, texting her other friend group who was gone for the day.

‘i really really wish you guys were here..’

‘why do you guys have to be gone :(‘

as y/n was about to send another text, her friend’s whisper caught her attention — “you okay y/n??”

his mouth was close to her ear, sending a soft shiver down her spine as she slightly backed away with watery eyes.

“yeah, i’m fine.” she pressed her lips into a half smile to reassure that she was okay.

a quiet, almost nonexistent click of the tongue was heard in y/n’s ears. her head slightly turned where the sound came from — only catching on to see that hoon had his head turned as well.

from what she didn’t know was that his eyes were shooting daggers at the male who seemed a little too close to her for his liking. he’d turn around just to glare for a second, hating how insanely close he was.

when hoon got up to sharpen his pencil and come back to his chair, she noticed the jealous boy roll his eyes before slowly curling the inner corner of his lips.

he turned his gaze away from her, replying back to mei with whatever words he had in his mouth.

y/n scoffed before looking at her friend who was awkwardly in between the mess.

“sorry, just got distracted.” she spoke with a bitter taste in her mouth.

her friend chuckled. “yeah i noticed, you’re down bad for him.”

her mouth opened in shock. “what..? no i’m not!” she immediately sent a smack to him, laughing loudly at how hurt he got.

sunghoon’s eyes quickly went to her after hearing the sound of her giggles he’s been wanting to hear all day.

man, was he wishing he was in that guy’s position right now.

he harshly sucked his teeth with his tongue as he blocked out the remaining words he couldn’t process from mei.

long minutes passed within the time left for the school day.

with y/n and sunghoon facing back against each other, tension filled the air as they provoked one another.

the two were petty, and they intended staying petty.

their heads would turn to the side here and there, just to catch a quick glance at the tuffs of each others hairs.

no one could break the prolonged silence between them.

y/n was trying her best to not let hoon win and see how jealous she was.

she wasn’t a jealous girl, she never was.

but seeing him with someone she doesn’t talk to anymore sparked something she didn’t know she could feel. he was talking to that girl like they talked on a daily basis, and it annoyed her.

with the way she was obviously flirting and trying to be sweet with him had y/n poking her tongue out through her cheek.

it fueled fire in her blood.

sunghoon wasn’t accepting the advances mei was making on him, but he wasn’t exactly shooting them down either. that’s what annoyed y/n. he was just provoking her, and he was doing it well.

but even if he was kind of winning, he was failing the game himself.

although she didn’t use her guy friends to make sunghoon jealous, he already was just by catching how close she was with them.

the friend would occasionally talk to her about personal details from his workplace since they both used to work at the same job.

through constant times, hoon had his eyes on her longer than intended. they’d just automatically land on her like a magnet. he’d squint and dart his gaze at how his lips nearly touched her face. he just couldn’t help the possessive feeling.

she was his girl even if they weren’t together yet.

he rolled his eyes whenever he thought her male friend would get a little too close every time he practically breathed in her ear. he wished he did something other than watch, but their little game was too far into it — and neither wanted to lose anyway.

to be quite honest, they didn’t even know why they were being petty and making each other jealous. it just happened.

so when class ended and the school day finally finished, y/n waited for everyone to leave class before she left like usual.

“bye, y/n! i’ll let my mom know about the family gathering.” her cousin bid her goodbye, waving her hands before walking out with her boyfriend.

the other friend exited from the class as well, telling her that work was calling his name. y/n laughed to herself as she purposely walked out in a slow pace, letting time pass.

however, as soon as she walked out, she felt a hand fling to her wrist — the grasp tightening as she suddenly got pulled to a more vacated area. she shook her head in confusion, looking up to the person who owned the hand that held onto her.

it was sunghoon, of course it was.

he was holding back for her to walk out, knowing she always waited to be the last.

as he waited, his head leaned against the school wall, eyes glancing at each person to make sure she didn’t leave without him knowing. when he noticed her two guy friends walk out, he specifically gave the one who talked to her a little too much for his liking, a stank eye.

his hold on her strengthened as he thought back to how close he was to her — steam practically coming out of his ears.

“geez hoon! stop tightening your hold,” y/n complained with a disgusted look.

sunghoon rolled his eyes at her. “are you going out with him or are you going out with me?” he angrily spat impulsively.

she blinked repeatedly to process his sudden words. “w..what? excuse me? first of all, we’re not even dating.” she said with a scoff.

“o..oh.. that’s right…,” he mumbled, biting his lip and closing his eyes — wanting to smack his own head at the moment.

“and i should be the one asking you that. are you going out with mei now?”

sunghoon scoffed, a satisfied smile curling onto his lips. “i thought we weren’t dating?”

“we aren’t, but i’d like to know if you’re actually into me so i don’t waste my time here.” y/n gritted through her teeth, wanting to slap the smile off of his face.

“of course i am.”

her heart skipped a beat for a second as blood suddenly rushed to her cheeks.

but she rolled her eyes in attempt to look unfazed as she said, “yeah right. seems like you’d rather go out with mei instead. you’d like that, wouldn’t you? going out with someone like her.”

she watched his face grow in confusion, and possibly disgust as she continued — “actually, you should go out with her since you just couldn’t get away from her the entire class. was it fun, hoon? talking to the girl who almost split my friends up?” she angrily raged, clenching her jaw in annoyance.

sunghoon scoffingly chuckled in response. “and was it fun to have your guy friend’s mouth close up in your ear? was it something enjoyable with how you always laughed and hit him afterward, hm?” his eyes grew dark as it still softly glistened with pain.

he furthered his steps closer to y/n, ultimately trapping her between him and the painted wall. her eyes stared straight at him, a hint of betrayal also displayed in her gaze as she didn’t respond back.

hoon exhaled a deep sigh before reaching out to hold her hand. his demeanor instantly becoming soft as he felt a relief wash over him once he came in contact with her hands.

“y/n…,” he gently called.

she was now looking down, half to hide away her blushing cheeks and half to ignore him. she shook her head as a response for him.

“maybe we should just talk another time,” the doubting girl spoke, trying to dangle her hands out of his hold, even if she didn’t want to — only to be forcibly back in his tight grip.

she gulped at the action, looking back up at him to see that he was shaking his head.

“let’s talk now,” he said while refusing to let go of their hands still clinging to each other.

“hoon…,” she faintly scowled with a soft voice.

“i like you,” sunghoon suddenly blurted. “i like you y/n. not mei, never mei. i shouldn’t have let her sit next to me, i wish i moved but i was jealous. i hated how close he was to you, i hated it so much.” he sucked in a breath of air once his lips made a firm line in humiliation.

y/n couldn’t help her inner corner lips curl as she heard his confession, it was almost like a reflex.

“oh god.., i like you too hoon.. and yeah, i was jealous too…,” she shyly admitted, closing her eyes instantly to avoid his shit eating grin.

“yeah? you were jealous? i kind of like knowing that it wasn’t just me.” he replied, raising his brows in amusement.

she shut her eyes again, sending a smack as she said, “shut up! you were more jealous than i was!” she cackled out a laugh whilst watching him smile widely in return. “are you gonna let go of my hand now?”

“no, why would i?” sunghoon’s eyes lightened with delight. “we’re together now.” he brought y/n’s hand up to his lips, placing a quick kiss on it — earning a gasp from her.

“you didn’t even ask me out!” she cracked a smile as she furrowed her brows at him.

hoon playfully rolled his eyes. “y/n, will you go out with me?”

“mm.. no! go ask out mei,” she teased with a grin.

the girl attempted to leave the scene, getting out of his hold for a second — actually believing that she’d flee successfully, just for her to get pulled back in his grip. hoon’s arms flung around her body, holding her back as the two laughed together.

“sunghoon!!”

the smitten male behind her closed his eyes in bliss, wiggling with his arms around her.

“i’d rather go out with you, i think you match me more.”

“you think or you know?” y/n emphasized, turning to face him with an eyebrow raise.

hoon took a pause, side eyeing from his left vision to the right before placing a soft kiss on her lips.

“sunghoon!” she quickly whined, hands hitting his arms as he only chuckled.

his ears became red, blushing all over in how cute she was being. watching how she struggled to get out of his strong hold was a heart skip to him. a smile coiled onto his face as he leaned in for another kiss.

their lips met, breaths on each others while he softly pushed on hers. hoon lowly groaned with his glasses falling to the tip of his nose, finally feeling her lips kiss back after having their small argument.

this was definitely the highlight of the day for him.

his hands met her warm cheeks, pulling her face closer to his as he smiled against her lips. she felt them gently move, causing her to grin as well before pulling away — loving the smitten look on his face for her.

“wow you let go of my hand.” y/n teased, putting her hand up on display for him to see. sunghoon only laughed, shaking his head as he replied — “fine, i’ll let you win this one.”

he quickly ruffled her hair, letting it fall messy to the front of her face to smile even more in amusement.

“sunghoon..!”

“i’m congratulating you!” the boy defended, putting his hands up in the air like he was in trouble.

y/n rolled her eyes, smacking him like always before intertwining their hands together.

“whatever, let’s just go.” she said, feeling his fingers tighten around her hand.

“that’s my gorgeous girl,” sunghoon complimented. he placed a longing kiss on her cheek, only for her to playfully wipe it off.

“hey!”

she chortled out a laugh, dodging his other attempts on kissing her cheek.

after a few more tries, the poor boy finally got to kiss his girlfriend.

y/n sighed, letting him win in satisfaction as they both left school together, hand in hand.

they were finally dating, and nothing could no longer separate them. their situationship was over but their relationship had just begun.

a dive into august moon's (tiny) discography 🌙🩷

From what we know about August Moon, the fictional boy band from The Idea of You, they are meant to be a conglomerate of a bunch of different boy bands and artists – an ode, a homage, to this era of music, if you will. Obviously, by looking at the members themselves, you can draw similarities between certain members of - ahem - another well-known boy band, but this post isn’t about them. This is about the music because I’m insane and I have Thoughts I’d like to share. 

Taste: After my very first listen of Taste, I immediately noticed the inspiration drawn from modern K-Pop, specifically BTS (and from interviews, Nick has mentioned they looked to BTS to help build August Moon’s dynamic). Sonically, Taste has a similar beat, tone, and structure to BTS’ Butter. All we’re missing really is a bar or two from their Rap line, which is unfortunate that they don’t have one. Taste is the most upbeat out of the five August Moon songs we get and relies heavily on electronic dance and disco elements that is reminiscent of K-pop music production. But also, after sending this song to a friend, it reminded her of Jonas Brothers and DNCE, which is not entirely far off, too. 

Dance Before We Walk: This is the first song that introduced us to August Moon, and I think this was a good choice for a debut single. It brings elements of electronic dance and rock that is very One Direction-esque. However, it still brings something fresh, new, and unique, which is what they needed to really sell August Moon as a boy band, even if they’re not technically a real one. But they’re still real in my heart. Hayes has bewitched me. 

Closer: The one thing that stands out to me about this song - besides that first line of the chorus (you know the one) - is the driving bass line that carries the heart of the song. If you know me, you’d know how much I appreciate a good bass. No other August Moon song has the bass turned up so loudly that it holds a melody of its own, and because of this, Closer, I think, is a modern take on 1960s boy bands like the Beatles or the Beach Boys. Paul McCartney of the Beatles prided himself on a melodic bass line, and Closer, to me, pays homage to that. 

I Got You: When Nick said this was his favorite because it’s so cliche, I didn’t believe him, but after I listened to it, it is very much the most cliche song I’ve ever heard. This is what I imagine to be August Moon's One Less Lonely Girl, where they bring a girl from the audience and serenade them, or their Little Things because boy bands sure do love pointing out a girl’s insecurities and saying how much they love her despite them. It’s so cliche that it also reminds me of Big Time Rush more than anything (Cover Girl, anyone?), and I feel like this is the most accurate comparison I could come up with. 

Guard Down: Sorry, but this is the most One Direction song that ever One Directioned. This song could have been from Take Me Home, and I wouldn’t have known the difference. I feel like what sets this one apart from the other songs is that it relies heavily on the rock/pop elements that are obviously a nod to One Direction, especially in their Take Me Home era. This is probably why I love this song so much because it reminds me of a time when life was so simple. I was just a girl in high school listening to Rock Me and just giggling about these five boys from the UK. 

[BONUS] Go Rogue: There is no doubt that Hayes’ performance of Go Rogue on the Graham Norton Show is a direct comparison to Harry who was just beginning his solo career. Go Rogue is very reminiscent of Harry’s debut self-titled album (From the Dining Table, Sweet Creature, etc.). The song itself is very pared down compared to August Moon’s songs. Very minimal production - just a voice, guitar, and piano - which isn’t dissimilar to what Harry’s self-titled album is like. There is a layer of yearning that is also borrowed from Harry’s lyrics and sound, and I think it is a beautiful homage to the passage of time and to Harry himself.

Who would have told you that your elementary school rival would actually turn out to be your favorite person in the world? Jake would. Actually that is how your rivalry and friendship started. It was first grade and you had to switch classes since your teacher left on maternity leave.

You shyly made your way to the empty seat next to a small blonde boy. He smiles widely at you and told you “We’re gonna be best friends… But I’m a better speller than you. So we’ll be spelling bee rivals. Don’t forget it!”

Your tiny face looked at him in confusion. “And who are you?”

“I’m Jakey.”

The memory made you smile and then laugh when you saw the perfectly imperfect poster Jake made for picking you up at the airport.

You ran the rest of the way to reach him. “Jake! You still can’t spell cupcake? So much for spelling bee master!”

“Listen Cupcake…” he pretends to growl and hugs you tightly. “You look good!”

“I am. I am very good Seresin.”

“Wow. She sounds exactly like you Jake…” the caramel skinned man besides Jake.

“Who do you think I learned it from?” Jake gives your waist another squeeze. “She’s the best person ever. But it goes to her head. Coyote.. this is Cupcake. Cupcake, this is Coyote. One of the other pilots from the academy.”

You extend your hand to shake his. “A pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard about you.”

He places his hand on your to shake and it’s as if you had never known what warmth and colors were. A pleasant warmth takes over and you notice the uniform he’s wearing. Khaki was now your new favorite color.

You hadn’t noticed that Jake, who was now clearing his throat for attention, was also in his uniform. “Shall we go?”

“Mhmm. Yeah,” you nod.

“Good. I got us reservations at the new French restaurant,” Jake says as he and Javy place your bags onto the bed of the truck.

As you all talked over dinner, Javy discovered there were levels to your friendship with Jake, as well as with your personality.

It’s not that he considered you fake. No. He prided himself in knowing how to read people. That’s why he was able to discover how much more you relaxed and truly showed yourself the more comfortable you were with someone.

Did he want to get to know every inch of your body? Of course. He was not blind and he could appreciate your beauty. But you were the first person that made him want to climb all those levels so he could know you in every facets. It kept taking him by surprise how much this feeling had taken over him after having just met you hours earlier.

“Did you know that this little hell raiser is the one that originally gave me my callsign?” Jake tells Javy as he slings his arm around your shoulder and pulls you in close.

“It was the best insult I could come up with as an 8 year old!” You exclaim laughing. “You sucked at playing hangman.”

Something in Javy’s chest clenches at hearing your laugh. He takes in your smile and how your eyes crinkle at Jake making you laugh.

Everything was always easy for Jake. He always got the best scores on any test. He always was the most popular. And he always got the girls.

Javy knew he didn’t have a right to feel this jealousy over someone he just met, but there was something about you that he just needed to make you his.

“So how long have you two been hooking up?” He asks, more bluntly than he anticipated.

You and Jake look at each other and start laughing. “Never!”

“Nope! She’s the only one that I would never try to get with because she scares me!” Jake says laughing. “No but seriously. She’s truly been the only girl that actually has been a friend and helped me so much.” He leans over and kisses your temple. “Sorry Javy but she’s my original best friend… and rival!”

“Jake is still the worst to play hangman with, but yeah he’s been the only guy I’ve met that has never tried to cross the line of friendship with me. I respect him for that. And now he’s graduating from the Naval Academy!”

“All because you two,” he points between you and Javy. “You two kept me in line.”

You turn to smile at the other aviator. “He gets easily distracted talking about himself right?”

This causes Javy to crack up. He brings his hand to his chest as he still laughs. “Oh! That’s it. You’re my friend now,” he says and subconsciously places his hand on your thigh. Javy’s protective and jealous side were obvious to Jake. He would glower at any of the patrons of the restaurant that would leer at you. He would make sure they knew he had claimed you, so to speak. He would lean closer to you and keep an arm wrapped around the back of your seat.

You’re so distracted by staring at Javy and enjoying his laugh that you don’t notice his hand on your thigh.

Unlike you, Jake notices and smirks to himself. “Let me get refills for everyone,” he says dismissing himself to give you two time to talk.

For as much as you loved Jake, tonight was the first time you ever wished for him to leave you hanging for a few hours.

Ever since meeting his friend Coyote, you’ve just wanted to be near and with this man. ‘He looks like he smells of cinnamon and whiskey and warm summer mornings,’ you tell yourself.

You try to control the scowl on your face when you see a group of college girls approach Javy while he was at the bar. You sigh as he smiles charmingly at them and feel a bit of jealousy.

That word makes you stop in your train of thought. ‘Jealous? You just met him and have no claim on him!’

Not surprised that LA reviews are brutal and S's acting is as we've known. Mommies as usual gave it 10/10 and high praises for him.

The welcomed (but completely unnecessary) presence of Céline Dion cannot save Love Again from being amazingly trite.

The two leads have virtually no chemistry. Priyanka Chopra Jonas is a charming actress and is quite funny in a scene where she’s paired with her real-life husband Nick Jonas (playing a total douche as a date), but can’t match with Heughan, who is as flat and unengaging as Ashton Kutcher was in Your Place or Mine.

Love Again never coalesces into something interesting. The leads aren’t a “perfect match,” and Céline Dion’s fictionalized version of herself doesn’t feel as inspired by the material as Chopra Jonas, who tries so hard to make this movie work (her phone call with Céline is quite magical). However, it’s not enough for the movie to work. This is all stuff audiences have seen before and done even cheaply on the Hallmark channel, where they at least acknowledge their lack of originality. Wasting Céline like this feels criminal. She deserves better. We all deserve better than a film like Love Again.

Moreover, normally I shuffle the albums of a chosen artist and listen to this for quite a while. That’s why I’d better share with you my Top-10 artists with a bunch of my most beloved songs 😇 All the songs except the “Little bird” by Jonas brothers have a YouTube link for your comfort. “Little bird” must be on Apple Music and/or Spotify. 

Ed Sheeran. This ginger guy doesn’t need any special introduction. I just wanna say that his music on shuffle-repeat was with me in the hardest periods of my life. Songs "on repeat”: End of Youth, Toughest, Tides, Photograph.

Rita Dakota/ Рита Дакота. Rita’s deep meaning songs bring me to tears quite often. Songs “on repeat”: Армагеддон, Мантра, Карандаш, Карма, bitch. 

Zveri/ Звери. A Russian rock-band that I’ve been a huge fan since early teenagehood. Their style have significantly changed over time, but I still find something in their latest not-so-rocky ballads. Songs “on repeat”: Мечтаем, Солнце за нас, Дальше, Просто такая сильная любовь.

The Script. These Irish guys make me smile, dance and believe in the best. Songs “on repeat”: Freedom Child, Paint the Town Green, Hall of Fame.

Nick Jonas and Jonas Brothers. Jonas Brothers were my inspiration for writing the Harry Potter fan-fiction “Hold on”. I still listen to their old songs if I need a cheer-up. Nick’s songs are deeper but no less beloved by me. Songs “on repeat”: Who I am, This is heaven and Chains by Nick, Little bird and Take a breath by Jonas Brothers. 

Elka/ Ёлка. An absolute masterpiece mix of dreamy music and unforgettable voice. Songs “on repeat”: Моревнутри, Домой, Пара.

Imagine Dragons. I call their music “dimensional”, meaning that the depth of the sound is mind-blowing. Songs “on repeat”: Real life, Amsterdam, Whatever it takes, Believer.

Nathan Goshen. I discovered Nathan while being a Middle East faculty student learning Hebrew. Nathan’s music is a perfect combination of modern tunes and oriental charm. Songs “on repeat”:

DiO Filmy/ ДиО Фильмы. The Ukrainian music band that unfortunately split up in around 2015 (if I remember it correctly). Actually both of the guys were prototypes for main characters in my fantasy novel about another planet (never finished the novel though). Songs “on repeat”: Стая, Можна випити, Мне уже 20 (for its drive and ‘cause we were having fun singing it in karaoke on my bachelorette party 😃).

Mine and Cory Monteith

A common theory about Mine, one that's almost as old as the song itself, is that it's about Cory Monteith. There's an article from Yahoo! Music that came out a week before the album dropped that namechecks Cory as a possible inspiration for Mine. Of course, there isn't smoke without fire: by the time Mine came out she had broken up with John Mayer, and she had been papped bowling with Cory in March, making everybody think that they were dating.

Evidence for:

1. That Instagram story:

I've seen a number of people talking about this but never the actual picture, so here you go. This was posted on his mother's public account and is currently still in its highlights. (The picture was taken at a Nick Jonas afterparty, by the way, and is the first time Taylor and Cory met.)

Also, Taylor mentioned that the guy she wrote the song about emailed her after she released the song, so if Mine is about Cory then he would know-- and I'm thinking so would his mother.

2. Timing

Taylor and Cory first met on January 28th, and were last seen together bowling in March. She also said the song was about "a guy that I just barely knew". If Mine is about Cory Monteith, it would have been written around February.

On the other hand, this article from Billboard mentions that Taylor wrote Innocent "between February and June 2010" after she played Mine to Scott Borschetta, which dates the writing of Mine in February.

The dates match up...

3. Glee

Evidence against:

Mine is one of the only two Taylor Swift songs to have ever been covered on Glee, which might be surprising given that the Speak Now era is widely looked upon as a less commercially successful era, and that Glee ran until the 1989 era. (The other song is Mean, which could honestly have well been tailor-made for an anti-bullying PSA segment in Glee.) Interesting how Glee didn't cover any of Taylor's songs from her more impactful eras.*

"You were in college working part-time, waiting tables". We don't know if Cory Monteith ever waited tables, but we do know he didn't go to college.*

But we have a potential defence here!

"It actually is a confession of some sort," [Taylor] responded, "because this is a situation where a guy that I just barely knew put his arm around me by the water, and I saw the entire relationship flash before my eyes, almost like some weird science-fiction movie. After I wrote the song, things sort of fell apart, as things so often do."

So although Taylor did say Mine was based on an actual person, there are some elements to it that are fictionalized! Maybe this was also the made-up lore that she wrote up, like the line about having bills to pay? Of course, it does make more sense that only everything after "flash forward" would be fictional, so this hedge isn't waterproof.

Conclusion

Ultimately, there isn't really strong evidence either way. End of post.

Time for my unwarranted RAMPANT SPECULATION: Taylor Swift and John Mayer were last seen together on 26 January 2010 when she went to his performance in Nashville (her mom was there as well, interestingly). I think things went downhill quickly after that and they had all but broken up by the time the Grammys rolled around. She had apparently broken up by February 13th according to her Lover Journal entry, so that checks out. So Taylor feels that she can start seeing other people (remember how much she hates cheating?), meets Cory, hangs out for a bit, but decides she isn't ready yet and it fizzles out. (I don't think they actually dated, though probably she had a bit of a crush on him.) On one of their hangouts, he wrapped his arm around her and she had a flash forward where they were taking on the world together, and we get Mine.

*It's rumoured that Glee was going to cover I Knew You Were Trouble on "Guilty Pleasures", but ended up cutting it. (This wasn't the same episode Taylor got a false lead on, by the way.)

**When I was researching for this I found this tidbit, which is... something.

Bonus fun fact! Taylor has never managed to sing Mine, the lead single of Speak Now, correctly live since 2013.

Cat from victorious I think a lot of people did not like how her character changed but I adore her. One thing about me is I'm going to love a ditzy silly little character, which brings me to Ed from Ed Edd & Eddy absolute favorite little cartoon guy, Nick Miller and Winston from New Girl, they're counted together cause together they are the absolute most ridiculous people ever. Morgan from The mindy project I have never laughed as hard in my life than I have when he's on screen, Suzanne Sugarbaker from Designing Women she is everything I wanted to ever grow into.

Lemon Cake: What/who makes you smile the most?

 It could be cause I've been bombarded by tons of Eras tour content but for sure Taylor Swift. Like I've loved her since I was 12, she was the first CD I bought with my own money when I was 13. And oh my gosh she just makes me so happy. I've always been a Jonas Brothers girl but I chose Taylor's Side easily in their break up. When she did the video with their dolls. The level of pettiness is honestly iconic. Also she is a ridiculous silly little woman. And also my bisexual awakening she made me realize oh I like women the same way I like guys. And the way I felt about my 4th grade teacher made sense. She just will always bring a smile to my face I love her. At her Tampa concert a lot of people were able to see it from the parking lot and gosh I wish I knew I could make it to Tampa. Her tickets were very expensive but finally seeing her on stage. God I love that woman. If she wanted a slightly shorter than her chunky wife I would be first in line. Also I feel I do not make my swifty-ness a secret cause when I became a Taylor Swift blog on April fool's everyone just accepted it.

Carrot Cake: What does someone have to do to get you to be their friend? 

Just talk to me, talk to me about anything I'm always open for new friends. But the way I communicate is weird but inline with me Leoness but I kinda just send random things and going ons in my life and I go on complete tangents but if you're also like that then we will be great friends I love hearing about out of nowhere things people have to say. Like please go on random tangents I love it. Also something my friend and I do is put on southern accents and have completely fabricated conversations like "Did you hear about Mary Lou Ann" then just create a whole story from that. Or we talk like we're on my super sweet 16. If you also do something like that oh my gosh we will be the greatest of friends.
