Baby Teddy home from the hospital. I am a smoking trainwreck of a human being and am gonna get in my bed with my newborn until further notice. Everyone’s been fuckin great. Inbox overflowing with support and my best friend and her kids came to the hospital with a load of groceries and she held me while I spewed colostrum and cried on her boob. Anyway women are great. Thank you and goodnight.

Preemie strong
Watching a premature baby fighting to survive and fight for life. Personally, I am a mother of two preemie babies one which was born at 23 weeks and 5 days and the other was born at 31 weeks. I ended up being diagnosed with preeclampsia. The NICU journey is something that is a struggle for all that are involved. I watched both my children fight for life, fight for a future. I watched their struggles to continue to be more. Often thinking about this makes me think about how as adults we don't fight like that anymore. As adults we shift our thoughts and focus. We no longer find that strength to fight through every battle as adult we give up which seems easier then finding strength to keep going. As adult we are willing to become complacent. We fight for a momentary moment, we no longer want to make changes. We give up on change and striding to become better and more. We no longer fight. As a wife and mother, I don't want to be complacent I was to fight like a preemie, I want to fight to keep changing for the better. Fight for more in this life. Fight as if it's my last breath. As I watch my children grow and change no matter what has happened to them they aren't jaded they still fight for a better future.

With the help of Double volume Exchange Transfuse
Here is an interesting case about our Successful Double Volume Exchange Transfuse, NICU.
A 4-day deeply icteric (severe jaundice) female baby was brought to NICU after being referred from a local hospital with a severely raised bilirubin level. Immediate action was taken on the first day, double surface phototherapy blood samples were sent and bilirubin was 29mg/dl, immediately decision was taken to proceed with a double volume exchange transfusion, the baby responded very well and on 3rd day, repeat TSB report was 12mg/dl and the baby was successfully discharged.
It gives us immense pleasure to see a healthy baby in OPD after 2nd day of discharge, without any effects in the brain due to a high bilirubin level in the baby’s blood. Siu-Ka-Pha Multispeciality Hospital is proud of its Paediatrics department and entire NICU team.

Influenza H3N2 Virus Risk in India - Dr Saima Khan
Influenza H3N2 Virus Children younger than 5 are at higher risk of developing serious flu-related complications — and babies under the age of 2, even more so. Their lungs, their immune systems are still developing, especially the younger ones, and so they have a lot more complications,
To help reduce the risk of catching or spreading the flu, health officials are encouraging frequent hand-washing throughout the day.

New Mom Issues: The Vent Post, The Covid Story, The Stress Post
Guys seriously I love my daughter I do.
I was told I wouldn't be able to have her and while my experience was horrible with pregnancy and the event of near hemorrhaging at 26 weeks pregnant I'm very happy to have her.
So is her Daddy
Lately though she is getting on my nerves, as newborns tend to do.
I feed her “On Demand”, change her multiple times an hour cause she hates being wet -no matter if she had been JUST changed like 5 minutes ago how the fuck you pee that much?!?!-
Rock her, swaddle her, entertain her, play music, put on kids shows for colors and sounds, sing to her about how much she is driving me nuts...and she still will cry and cry and scream till it sounds like she's being murdered.
Now I'm sorry I am not going to make my child DEPENDANT on being held every time she cries, otherwise we will NEVER be able to put her down in the future. Not to say she doesn't get held or bounced as we meander around the room or while sitting
And before anyone comments about what about her Dad let me get to the next part of this post...
My Husband the love of my life; who nearly died on us due to Covid -a second time and was told by the Hospital it was their worse case for someone his age-
Covid Caused Pneumonia, Covid Caused Blood Clots in his lung and leg, and near Kidney failure due to dehydration because of how sick he was and his 103*F fevers.
Is still in recovery, having had been intubated to breathe because the Asthma he has plus the Covid, the pneumonia AND the clot had gotten him in such a horrible state he needed to be put under.
Now for those who don't know this causes something called Muscular Atrophy. When a disease or injury makes it difficult or impossible for you to move an arm or leg, the lack of mobility can result in muscle wasting.
My husband from the start of his sickness till his discharge from the hospital lost 54lbs, and nearly ALL his muscle. This man is built like a (American) Football player, and is now 186lbs.
The PTSD of the hospital machines beeping, the sensations of the Tube and cannula, the experience of the horrible treatment the first hospital gave him, the second hospital admittance then the Airlift to ANOTHER hospital...
It really messed him up, nearly dying, being put under while he was sleeping, the pain in his chest while struggling to breathe, and waking up having had no idea what happened to him or what day it was,
It took me a week of constant reassurance that he was home, nothing was on his face, he could breathe on his own and he was finally home with us for me to see any semblance of the man I married again.
I was now after 3 months of living in a Hospital, having had become a NICU mom with a NICU warrior...taking care of both my new baby and my spouse.
Hes been doing better, slowly getting back strength and stamina again, able to help me a bit more with caring for our daughter. He is well enough to let me sleep for 2 hours here and there, which I appreciate even though he is healing too.
Still, I’m exhausted and Baby Zelda is currently going through a growth spurt which makes her even more fussy.
I take care of a 5 person household, my SIL who is special needs -mostly blind, partially deaf, and having the mental age between 10-14 depending on the situation at physical age of 25-. The animals, the chores and errands, the cleaning and cooking, my child, my spouse and most the time I'm on my MILs ass about her health due to her working 6 days a week and not minding her health all that well for a woman of 50 years.
I’m tired and stressed but relieved my love is alive, we are together and will sort out our situation financially and otherwise a day at a time.
The consensus of this rant...
Covid is not a Joke, Vaccine or not you can STILL get it, be hospitalized, and nearly die from it.
{This is not a intro to a discussion or political trigger of debate about the virus or vaccine because I honestly don't care to hear it. I've dealt with enough}
Blood Clots are DANGEROUS please be aware of that, it can and WILL take your life if it hits your heart or lungs.
Being a NICU mom is very hard, very stressful, very traumatizing, and we and our babies are WARRIORS. Unless you have had a Premature baby yourself and have had a child in the NICU you will never understand what it is like.
To my fellow NICU Moms and Dads I understand and I am here to emotionally support you through that journey if you need it. Transitioning with a child just out of the NICU is rough too so you know.
And I needed to vent it out...Hope everyone else is doing well, please stay safe and healthy!

When you deliver early, you might not see your baby before they are taken away to the NICU. Sometimes the mother is very sick or unconscious. The NICU staff are lovely as they send a photo up to you in recovery. I remember being allowed down to the NICU after a day. It was then I realised the photographs were close up. I could only see one arm and 2 little legs, all of 2lb. Initially it's shocking but then you realise that these tiny little babies are absolute warriors. My hero became my 2lb baby and years later, I still feel the same. #ourprematurebabies #nicuwarriors #nicu warrior #hero #heroes #preterm #prematurity #irishprematurebabies #neonatolgy #pretermbirth #pretermbaby https://www.instagram.com/p/CoNrYQJqOsE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

the story of piper! in honor of her first birthday.
March 26th 2020 i found out i was going to be having a baby. I had been praying for a reason, for direction, for a light in my life.. and 2 months early on October 13th 2020 at 5:53 PM I had my beautiful baby girl. We were both very sick and high risk, and even as little as she was (3lbs 7oz), Piper was healthier than me. **tiny fighter** She remained in the NICU for a month, and i made the drive (an hour 20min there, an hour 20min home) with my mom helping me get to and from until i was cleared to drive, the rest of the time i made the drive everyday. The month that Piper was in the NICU, I had to make some very hard choices, one being the choice to leave her father because the relationship was abusive, and my family went through some very hard things outside of Pipers delivery as well, my dad was in a constriction accident and lost some fingers. Piper had a brain bleed due to my severe pre-eclampsia. it caused a blockage in her brain and trapped spinal fluid inside the ventricles. She was expected to likely be impaired, and delayed in most development. 6 months after the diagnosis of hydrocephalus, Pipers condition had healed somehow without medical intervention, and she was developing ahead of her gestational age. the doctors said “we can’t really explain it other than she is very very lucky.”. It’s absolutely no exaggeration to say that Piper saved my life. Ask my parents, ask my sisters. She lit up everything for me. Not only did Piper save my life, she brought me home from a really bad emotionally abusive situation. and coming home allowed me to get out, get the medic help i needed and have a stable place for my daughter and i to be.Piper is the strongest person i have ever met, and she’s only a year old. She is determined, she’s smart, she’s fiesty, she LOVES MUSIC and will jump or bang her head or dance to almost anything with a good beat. She loves cats, specifically mine. her first words were “kitty kitty” Piper adores our family and for SOME REASON she thinks i hung the moon. But to me.. she is my moon. i say this because, Piper lit up my life from such a dark place that i didn’t feel like i had any hope. She gave my live rhythm and routine, balance and more than anything, she gave me joy. Whereas before, i didn’t really have. Piper gave me a light not only at the end of the tunnel (that i knew wasn’t a train) but also lanterns throughout the whole tunnel too. This first year of being a mother to such an incredible girl has been the biggest blessing of my life. I could not be more grateful to be able to have such an experience, to grow and heal and learn so much.. i could not be more thankful for this little life that i get to watch grow into someone more and more incredible every single day. Piper, i love you more than you’ll probably ever know. You might a little bit someday if you choose to have babies of your own. You are the most wonderful thing that has ever come into my life. You are the biggest blessing i could’ve hoped for. What a blessing it is to be a tiny someone’s everythg. Happy first birthday baby. i love you so much Piper Ann. Of course piper overload pics

On Thursday July 25th 2019 at 9:33am weighing only 3lbs we welcomed our sweet Leo Benson into this world 80 days before his due date. It was the most terrifying but most beautiful day of my life. Happy due date, my sweet boy. We cannot believe how much you’ve grown. We had already picked out the name Leo even though you weren’t due until October 13th. You said we were crazy and if we were gonna name you that you might as well come during Leo season and prove that you were as strong as your name.
