yuichi :] i complicated his design so much that i just decided it was better to turn him into his own thing LHGDSAKHGDSHJ.

he has his own chizu, kitsune, and gen (all of whom i will also make refs for believe you me), but they all live in a section of the hidden city that's quite a ways away from the area the turtles usually visit. post-kraang (which he had no idea happened bc he was at his aunt's (she lives even further out)), he gets a part-time job at run of the mill, which is how he meets the guys!

his samurai fit is directly taken from the heroforge model i made of him with a few adjustments ofc. i wanted it to be a mix of samurai armor and adventurer chic if that makes any sense. as for his casual outfit, i ALWAYS wanted him to be a little punk/emo. the bunny pin is a direct reference to miffy/nijntje bc she was a part of my childhood and i love her and it sucks that i couldn't capture her properly due to canvas size and brush limitations, and the raven skull pendant is a reference to karasu-tengu. the big sleeve patch has a third dot, it's just his family emblem.

if his pattern doesn't make sense, suck it up bc i think it's cute <3

hallo .i have rooibos tea to drink just now in enamel mug. and saw you in sleeping in nighttime , dream about collecting rocks and there was big fish big salmons all jumping in water. waterfall too up hill .in the fjörd. big fish like ceolacanth and big sturgeon too and you said wow its so cool and touched its spiky back.

i drew pictures: petroglyph you like and sony walkman. so thoughtful + efficient of you to put the questions in the message hehe<3 CD player? i don't know if i imagine my dream self that much (perhaps i ought to). one song that feels like my life but romanticized, if that makes sense, is 'Warrior' by Laure Marling. a lot of Johnny Cash songs resonate similarly. night light? a 1920's Art Deco lamp that doesn't emit much light but looks graceful, a Nijntje night light, a clip-on reading light, and an alarm clock plus whatever i'm currently reading with a pen clipped on doll? i don't have a crush atm but my dream person would be someone with whom i can laze in bed and read, go on long walks in nature and talk (or be silent together), and plan fun travel itineraries. that all sounds fairly generic written down...i think i care less if someone is "interesting" and more if they are "interested" (i.e. attentive to the world, curious and open). i also care less for big, spontaneous gestures and far more about investment in the daily habits of life + love together. thank you for sending these questions my way 🌬️🍃

I think it would be cute if nedame went on a date to the canadian tulip festival. I know ned sends canada a lot of tulips (millions!) every year for the festival as thanks in ww2. But it could be cute if canada invites abigail over to hang out at his place and secretly invites ned. (Bc ned was gonna personally bring tulips anyway but they are secretly for abigail and another bonquet is for mattie as a bff thing while nedame is a couple thing. (I also love nedcan sm. Now i can’t pick between nedcan and your nedame)

Things that make me happy (AKA: sunshine things)

1. Nijntje. (Or Miffy for the English people) idk what it is, but seeing these stuffed animals just makes me so happy.

2. Vinyls. Especially the pretty coloured ones. The ones in these pictures are: Lover by Taylor Swift, Harry's House by Harry Styles, and Walls by Louis Tomlinson. (Yes, I had that one twice. Not anymore tho, I gave the black one away to someone)

3. Iris flowers. They're so pretty, and they remind me of The Sis (these pics aren't mine btw)

4. Taking pictures! Especially on holidays.

Primary sources

1. Family Archive. The video’s, photo’s and stories from my own family give insight in how your occupation and place on social ladder influences how much you speak dialect, and therefore how you are seen within society. It also shows how dialect changes over the years and how our parents and grandparents play a big role in transferring dialect to us. I plan to use this source as a red line through my story to make it personal, easier to grasp for the viewer/reader and to take a clear position in this story and to tell the story from this particular perspective.

2. Ciska and Petra, Primary school teacher’s. Both Ciska and Petra currently both work at a primary school, but their opinions about the eduction or oppression of a dialect differ a lot. They are actually both on the other side of the spectrum. One is in favor of using dialect in the classroom and does it herself, and the other is strictly against it since it would effect your chances on a good job in the future. I plan to use this source to see if and how education can influence the preservation or suppression of Rotterdam dialect and to see if it can live next to each other.

3. Delpher Delpher is a website where all kinds of printed articles are archived online. This goes back until the 1800’s and there are a lot of historical articles to find about dialect, and also specifically Rotterdam Dialect, from various news sources. There are articles that confirm my thoughts about the development of Rotterdam dialect and why it is fading, but there are also questions and other perspectives which you can read here. I plan to use Delpher to search for articles that can confirm or debunk the interpretations I have about how and why the Rotterdam dialect is fading.

4. Wat zeggie? Azzie val dan leggie!, by Jan Oudenaarden. In this book the author has done research about different kinds of aspects of the Rotterdam. dialect. He dives into words, grammar, expressions, nicknames etc. Why do we say certain words and where does it come from? I plan to use this source as a research document what shows me more about the heritage of the language and to see what it can tell me about the identity of the Rotterdam population. Also I can hold this as a reference to see how people used to speak dialect and how much knowledge the younger residents of Rotterdam currently have.

5. Video: NOS op 3 “Dealen met je dialect.” In this video various biasses about people that speak dialect are shared and how this affects these people in their search for a job or when they are at work. They tell about their experience of discrimination based on their dialect and how they sometimes not get the job because of that. This sometimes means changing their identity while they often are proud of their heritage. I plan to use this source to gain more insight into what people are disapproved of when speaking a dialect and what actions they take to change this.
