okay I know i’m beyond irrelevant here but how is there one to five gifsets of every goddamn scene in Friends but not. a. single. gif. on all of the internet of that scene from The Americans where Oleg gives Nina the money in ‘Operation Chronicle’ and tries to tell her to run without tipping off anyone listening in on them??? I know the scene is super dark and probably horribly hard to colour but!! It’s the saddest thing? Look??

I’ve reached 2x02 in my obligatory immediate “The Americans” rewatch and I’d forgotten what a ridiculously enjoyable jerk Oleg was in early S2, like -

here he is, having what might be his first real conversation with a more experienced, well-respected coworker:

Also, he lets her know for absolutely no apparent reason he enjoys dancing and new wave music. Oh yeah, and he’d “like to meet Blondie”. She’s his type.

This kind of scene was amusing when I first saw the show, but now they’re both hysterically funny and heartbreaking. I mean, there are miles between this and the man Phillip met, God, they ground him down to the bone - these two sassy kids deserved so much better. Look at this sass:

two troubled people who are equally lonely - usually one by virtue of actually being alone and one who feels very far removed from the people around them - who might lash out at other people but who would never intentionally hurt the other, whether they’re dating or fighting or broken up. Fiercely loyal to one another; tend to be bad at voicing their emotions but show them instead. (Often one by ridiculously grand gestures and the other in the tiny, tiny things.) 7. What do you think have been some of your best fic ideas? Even though it’s turning into a huge flaming mess of a plot, I still think The World Through a Scope was a pretty neat starting point - I mean, Rebelcaptain sharing a psychiatrist, you know? Also pretty happy with how I managed to spin my chapter for the Food Travel AU and I am so stupidly happy with my High School AU (which is not a thing I ever expected to be able to say). Also I am highkey in love with the idea of Firefly crossovers and I really want to write more. Aaaand I am so damn pleased with my ridiculous Winter Olympics AU it’s not even funny.

8. Your worst? Some plot lines in The World Through a Scope were Bad Ideas in retrospect, but alas. Also a lot of my earlier ideas weren’t... horrible in itself, but the execution oh my God

9. What kind of fic do you most love to write? Angst angst angst *lol* no but seriously I think my favourites are the really quiet ones, set in the dark at night or in the car, cuddling and angsty conversations and sleepy sweet fluff. I love those (probably because I usually write at night when I’m getting sleepy myself *lol*)

10. What do you dread writing? SMUT more than anything, tbh. And extensive action scenes, I’m bad at adrenaline-inducing excitement

12. What is a fic you would love to write one day? I really do want to write that GDR spy AU in full one day. One fine day *sigh*

13. What’s a fic you wish someone else would write? I’m a sucker for that historical AU stuff so I’d be really cool to see everyone write a Rebelcaptain fic based on some of their home country’s history. I’d loooooove that. Or another Firefly crossover. That too.
