꒰⚠️꒱ TW: Light mentions of ED & SA
Tumblr media
*ೃ༄‧˚ Apperance
╰┉┈ Dollie is 16 y/o black American and stands at 5’4. Her eyes are round sorta like doe eyes paired with full lashes. Her body type is petite.
-NEW- ╰┉┈ Dollie’s natural hair is jet black 3c ending near her mid back. Her hair isn’t straight and blonde by nature like your used to seeing, it’s just a result of Dollie styling her hair in all sorts of different ways.
╰┉┈ Dollies eyes are amber. I know the last character sheet I did of her showed her having blue eyes but I decided to change it.
Tumblr media
*ೃ༄‧˚ Physical & Mental State + Morals & Trama
╰┉┈ (Trama) Before becoming a Slender proxy Dollie had become a victim of Offenderman. She at first thought Offender was Slenderman, so he took advantage of her confusion so she would trust him. Dollie of course has no memory of the assault actually happening but she eventually came to the conclusion of what happened and has been coping with it ever since.
╰┉┈ (Mental) Dollie unknowingly has depression, she shakes most if not all of her mental problems off because she ignorant and believes she could never be depressed or have mental health issues. She religiously cries herself to sleep and is cruel to strangers she doesn’t approve of.
╰┉┈ (Mental) Dollie has a superiority complex. She somehow believes she’s better than everyone even if it’s in the smallest of ways. She will always be first in her life. She doesn’t show this side of her often but you better believe it’s there.
╰┉┈ (Mental) Dollie has been suffering from anorexia since she was 14. It stopped controlling her so much when she reached her ugw but nonetheless it doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect her everyday.
╰┉┈ (Moral) She’s a certified shopaholic. Dollie will steal, shoplift, rob whatever she what’s she gets. She feels no remorse or guilt for what she does.
╰┉┈ (Moral) [percentage for how bad she feels about committing them. The higher the percentage the less she cares.]
Concerning crimes the ones she commits most often are:
Murder (82%)
Homicide (100%)
Torture (65%)
Arson & Disturbing the peace (100%)
Shoplifting (100%)
(THIS IS NOT A FLEX- just showing u Dollie ain’t making it to heaven)
╰┉┈ (Physical) Dollie often feels dizzy & weak because of not eating. It doesn’t matter if she felt fine all day after eating nothing is will 100% hit her next morning.
╰┉┈ (Trama + Mental) She’s been groomed by two people, both being older men. The first was before being involved with the crp & the second was offenderman.
Tumblr media
ೃ༄‧˚ Abilities
╰┉┈ Dollie is mainly a stealth killer. Lurking in dark & unsuspecting places to catch her victims off guard. Therefore her skill in stealth is very high. Hiding in plain sight, being quiet, moving quiet, playing dead, is her specialty.
╰┉┈ For her weapon of choice, Dollie uses two Victorian styled scissors when fighting. She also carries needles, some are poisonous and some are for healing purposes.
╰┉┈ Dollie kills a variety types of people. She is not a vigilante and she does kill innocent people.
╰┉┈ Dollies creepy factor is uncanny valley. She’s a ball-jointed doll that sits completely still, lifeless in dark and eerie places not making a sound. Don’t imagine an image of that… I’m not responsible for YOUR NIGHTMARES!!!!
╰┉┈ Dollie stalks a lot if not most of her victims. You have about 1-4 days before your dead meat. Even if she fails to kill you Dollie holds grudges for looooooong times and the moment she ever sees you again it’s over.
Tumblr media
* ೃ༄‧˚ Relationships
╰┉┈ Dollie’s father Gary is a narcissist and abusive towards her mother, herself and her brother.
╰┉┈ Dollie’s mother is the only family member she loves and is close too. Her mother also reciprocates the feeling of love and care to her.
╰┉┈ Jeff and Nina are her best friends and hang out often together. They are very important to her.
╰┉┈ Dollie loathes her younger brother Brandon. He is the only person Dollie actively causes harm to (other than her dead victims) and bullies him on a daily basis. She has never hated someone so strongly other than him.
╰┉┈ Dollie’s favorite person is herself.
Tumblr media
* ೃ༄‧˚ Personal Interests & Fashion
╰┉┈ Dollie dresses scene & emo as well as lolita sub genres like hime, mori, gothic & classic lolita. But no matter the fashion style she must have her iconic hair bow.

Nina and Shirley are two sides of the same coin and I'm going to show you
To begin with, both girls have in common that they are Britannians, friends of Lelouch and, above all, they are innocent citizens who find themselves in the crossfire of a rebellion against their mother country. In a certain way, they play the role of the civilians involved in a conflict of this type and, in unison, the two give totally opposite answers to the same problem.
Both lose an important being in their lives because of Zero. Shirley loses her father and Nina loses the girl she loves (that's emotional dependency, really; just this isn't the post to delve into that). As a result, Shirley and Nina go through a mental breakdown and it leads them to make morally questionable decisions with destructive consequences for themselves and their environment. I mean, they both choose to get revenge by killing Zero.
Tumblr media
Shirley is about to do so when the golden opportunity falls at her feet, but she hesitates as soon as she discovers the identity of her father's killer. Villetta arrives, Shirley shoots her after seeing that she intended to arrest Lelouch and her guilt upsets her. Are you seriously doubting Shirley's mental state because of the trauma? She was in an obvious catatonic state by the time Lelouch located her next to Mao and already in R2 she threatened to kill herself because she couldn't handle the stress and shock.
Tumblr media
From Nina I have to prove her terrible mental health. She threatens to blow up Ashford Academy to avenge her late love and later joined Schneizel's research team in order to fulfill her revenge, which is to develop a weapon of mass destruction.
Tumblr media
The difference between the two is that Shirley reconsiders and abandons her revenge because she is incapable of hurting someone she loves. In the end, love prevails over the rancor that lives in her heart, allowing her to forgive Lelouch for his crime. Nina, on the other hand, allows herself to be consumed by the hatred that has poisoned her heart and the poison has clouded her mind, preventing her from seeing the long-term effect of her actions.
Tumblr media
I think this is the case because Nina had problems from before that Shirley didn’t (insecurities, low self-esteem, maybe some past traumatic experience that she never got over). Hence, Shirley was able to pull herself together while Nina plunged deeper and deeper into darkness until she reached what I like to call, in my own narrative theory, "The Pinnacle of Destruction" (yes, that moment when Suzaku massacres the Tokyo Settlement with the F.L.E.I.J.A.).
Tumblr media
That is precisely the point of divergence between the two. Nina has a revenge arc and revenge is usually treated in fiction as a process of self-destruction, which is the obvious case with Nina: she doesn't just degenerate as a scientist in the sense that she invests her great intelligence for selfish and warlike ends. , but also degenerates as a friend (behaving disgustingly with people who held her in high esteem) and, by extension, as a human. But she's not really like that. Lelouch says that she is a good person in R2 episode 24 (watch it if you don't believe me). Shirley doesn't lick her wounds like Nina. Her process is regenerative. That is, to let go of the pain and heal the internal wounds caused by the rebellion.
We could say that Nina represents hate and revenge, while Shirley symbolizes love and forgiveness.
To mention one case where this is evident: think of Suzaku's arrival at Ashford Academy. Nina has embraced the hatred that Britannia instills in its citizens towards the colonists and, therefore, she avoids Suzaku at all costs (as if he were a virus), but Shirley rejects that hatred. In fact, if it weren't for Rivalz, she would have been the first student at Ashford Academy to welcome Suzaku (she corrected herself by being the first to thank him for helping Lelouch).
Tumblr media
In the long run, love and forgiveness are the two values that win out because even after Shirley dies, Nina is willing to forgive Lelouch (which she doesn't quite do, but at least she doesn't shut down completely) and she resents the friends she treated badly in the past and that she loves deep down. This is the only way that Nina decides to face her xenophobia and heal (as the secondary material shows us).
Anyway, I would like you to appreciate both answers equally. Don't take Shirley for a fool or naive or Nina for a lunatic or hateful. Individually these arcs are well written. Simultaneously they complement each other perfectly since it allows us to evaluate the opposite scenarios without the need for us to let our imagination run wild. It's one of those things where you're like, "Wow! What a great narrative!" But maybe I'm asking too much of you.
Have you noticed this parallel before? Did I convince you that they are two sides of the same coin?
PS: I just realized that Shirley is an ESFJ and Nina is an INTP. They are opposite MBTI Types, that is, same cognitive functions ordered in reverse (like Lelouch and Kallen, who are INTJ and ESFP, and Suzaku and Lloyd, who are ISFJ and ENTP). Coincidence?

Quick Toby, Clockwork/TicciWork headcanons
By tic-toc-clock77! (These are also things you'll see in my Wattpad story!)
Tumblr media
Toby hates cars, he can't stand them because of Lyra so him and Clockwork walk everywhere
Clockwork is reclusive and very mean, though she doesn't enjoy being too mean because some small part of her still craves normalcy meanwhile Toby is more than okay with having pure chaos because it was his normal growing up
Clock had nobody to depend on growing up which makes it harder for her to speak up about anything, even if she wants to badly.
Toby isn't afraid to speak up and help people because he always told his sister everything and they'd talk constantly about the bad stuff going on in their lives and the world, he would routinely defend his sister and mother from their father by taking most of the hits and yelling. Of course, it did and has its negative effects on him which show prominently because he's a shizophrenic serial killer with no regard for the lives, families, friends or anything that would make his victims seem human.
Toby tried hard to be friends with Tim and Brian but due to Brian's quietness and Tim being an asshole, it was difficult. It was too hard to make friends with anyone else cuz they were already grouped up or he thought they were too violent and strange.
Toby's always felt safe around woman but Clocky has never really felt safe around men due to her past. When they met, due to Toby not having many friends, he instantly tried befriending Natalie who brushed him off at first but then lost her shit at him. They didn't talk to each other for a while after that, despite Toby mentoring her at Slenderman's request.
There was a while in Clock's life where she considered she may have been a lesbian but after she dated Chris and then dated Toby later in life, she didn't seem to have any attraction to women, that was until Nina kissed her when they were 24 and 23 respectively and she settled on being bisexual.
They do eventually start living together by themselves in the forest at 27 and got 'married' a year later but due to them being legally dead, they couldn't legally get married
Eventually, they have 2 kids; Aaron and Lyra but after a certain fallout with Slenderman where everyone began to ignore their duties they'd promised to due to personal problems they'd acquired, Slender's powers began to fade and the power surrounding the forest had faded along with him, police instantly came to arrest everyone in there. They took both Toby and Clockwork's kids to foster care.
After being arrested, the two were lucky enough to be admitted to mental wards, where they finally got out after 6 years claimed sane. They began trying to get their children back through working a lot of jobs and not doing any more killing. Eventually they get Lyra back but Aaron has no intention of seeing them as his parents at all so he never goes back to try and reconnected with them.

Why Stranger Things' 4 Plot Twist Doesn't Work
Tumblr media
Let's face it, Netflix's Stranger Things Series took the world by storm when the first season was released in 2016.
No one expected the idea of a Stephen King/Lovecraftian Horror amalgamation set in the 80's based on Eldritch monstrosities and alternate dimensions. But it happened anyway, and the Duffer Brothers were in for a treat. Not until....
Tumblr media
When something becomes too much of a good thing, it becomes a problem. This is a very well known fact, and Stranger Things couldn't have enough of this realization. It just had to overstay it's welcome.
The fanbase became increasingly cringe overtime, and people loved the characters so much that they forgot the point of the entire show, or more like, the point of a horror show; IT'S NOT ABOUT THE CHARACTERS, IT'S ABOUT THE HORROR.
The moment you realize that people are more interested in your characters than in the manifesting horror of your story, you'd know you've messed it up.
I come in peace now, don't hang me. I'm not saying a horror story shouldn't have interesting characters. Of course it should, but the emphasis I'm trying to make here is; Stranger Things' fanbase is invested so much on the iconography, characters and the costumes. There is little to no emphasis on the horror, as per the Series' Popularity. When you see two people talking about Stranger Things, you don't necessarily hear phrases like "The Upside Down" or "The Mind Flayer", it's mostly about the four kids(Dustin, Lucas, Mike and Will), or the cop(Hopper), or the supporting characters.
Anyway, by the time the Duffer Brothers caught on on this hype for the show, they decided to exploit it, by giving the fans what they want; more screentime with the characters. That was the beginning of the downfall of this show.
Tumblr media
Anyway, speaking of horror stories that don't necessarily pay attention to character development that much, but are rather invested heavily on the horrors of it's haunted universe, is the work of Junji Ito, a Japanese Mangaka, whose works are very inspired by H.P Lovecraft.
Tumblr media
Many of his comic book horror series (The Uzumaki series for example) are not necessarily based on specific characters, but more on how the manifesting horror affects them. You could literally know nothing about his characters and yet still feel so much for them, with it's accompanying horror themes; A dread of the unknown, and a madness from the beyond.
This is what a horror show is supposed to be about. Not the other way round. It's the feeling of inevitability and doom, or the idea of helplessness surrounding the horror that builds fear. It's exactly the reason why Junji Ito's works are one of the most terrifying I've ever seen.
Alright, I digressed. Now let's go back to Stranger Things, and the reason I'm writing this in the first place; the infamous "plot twist" of Stranger Things 4. Why it doesn't work and how it fucking ruins everything in my opinion.
SPOILERS: You know this, I shouldn't be telling you. You've been warned.
What is the Plot Twist for Stranger Things 4?
Tumblr media
In Season 4, we are introduced to an entity from the Upside Down, who is later revealed to be Lord Vecna, from the Dungeons and Dragons game the Hellfire club were playing.
Later on, when Eleven(Millie Bobby Brown) is taken by Owen(Paul Reiser) to El Navada, she is forced to confront her past in "Project Nina"(A top secret government facility and program located in the Nevada desert) which was developed by both him and Dr. Martin Brenner(Matthew Modine).
Tumblr media
Eleven had apparently lost her abilities by the time of Season 4, so this whole government facility was designed to make her retain them.
Tumblr media
Somewhere else, Robin(Maya Hawke) and Nancy(Natalia Dyer) are searching for clues pertaining to one mysterious Victor Creel(Robert Englund 1986, Kevin L. Johnson, 1959). They eventually find where he's being kept(in a mental institution), and he's not looking good.
Tumblr media
Before hand, the team had been investigating certain mysteries surrounding a serial killer in 1986 who has been killing victims in a brutal but similar manner(Disjointed limbs, gouged out eyes, broken bones). People talking about these cases only reference a specific killer who would be the only one behind it, named "Victor Creel".
The team decided to check out the 1959 "murders" that Creel was supposedly associated with, so they could understand the nature of the 1986 murders. It turns out they are actually of the same kind, as the news reports explained.
They ask Creel about the 1959 murders that happened, and how he ended up in Pennhurst Asylum. He begins by explaining his backstory;
Tumblr media
At some point in March 1959, after he retired from the war, he inherited a "small fortune" from his wife's great uncle who had died.
The house was located in Hawkins, Indiana and they moved there to start a new life. So it would seem.
A month later(the only month of peace they had), the family began to experience various otherworldly and paranormal occurrences (Animals getting strangled and mutilated, flickering lights, radio interferences and so on). It was becoming so frequent, and it made Creel extremely paranoid. He began to believe this was the work of a "Spawn of Satan", and called an exorcist for help.
That never helped. In fact, it made everything worse. Virginia Creel(his wife) died in a very horrific manner(the same kind of the victims in 1986). Horrified at this occurrence, he tried to take his children out of the house, but had a hallucination.
After snapping back to reality, he realized Alice Creel(his daughter), was killed in the same manner Virginia was killed. He also realized that Henry Creel(his son) had passed out and was in a coma.
When the authorities came, they weren't exactly ready to buy into his "demon spawn" story, so he was incarcerated. He begged for an insanity plea (for being arrested for a crime he didn't commit).
It was granted, and he found his way to Pennhurst Asylum. There he also attempted suicide, but couldn't go through with it and only managed to gouge his eyes out.
After making a controversial statement about a "demon" punishing him by killing his family (He heard falsely that Henry Creel died in a coma) which was of course, cast aside and not believed; he vowed never to explain his story to news reporters or authority figures again.
Meanwhile, Eleven keeps having a certain flashback about her "killing" a bunch of kids who were in Dr. Brenner's superweapon "spy" program. However she can't seem to recall how this happened or how she was involved.
Dr. Brenner and Owen plan to help her remember her past by placing her in a simulation-like experiences of her past, allowing her to navigate them and uncover lost memories.
During her past time in a facility(in her flashbacks), she met a certain guy who served as one of their supervisors. This guy, apparently a nice person, gave her a lot of good advice when she was to undergo various training programs. (This attracted Brenner's attention, and he was extremely punished for this).
Eleven slowly began to warm up to him, and felt very terrible for what Brenner had done to him for her sake. They began to relate with one another, until one day....
He decided to help her escape the facility(telling her that she was to be killed by the other kids and that Brenner knew). On reaching the escape point, she beckoned him to come with her, but he refused, saying he was a servant, like she was, and that no matter where he escaped to, "Papa"(Dr Brenner) would always find him.
Refusing to leave him behind, and using her powers, she helped him destroy a chip implanted into his neck with a tracker. He told her to wait in one of the rooms, that he had something he needed to do.
After waiting a long time and having heard nothing but screams, Eleven journeyed back to the rainbow room, where she discovered something shocking;
She didn't kill those children, like she thought she did. She misremembered. Someone did it, and that someone was none other than the "nice guy" that was helping her all along.
He revealed himself as 001. And explained a lot to Eleven, about his backstory and motivations which sounded awfully similar to someone we already knew; Henry Creel, the son of Victor.
That was when the entire team realized, that "Vecna", the supposed character from DND, was actually the "Spawn of Satan" his father had been extremely paranoid about; Who was behind the murder of the entire family (Victor Creel was alive all along, and was taken by Dr. Brenner into his Superweapon program).
The 1959 killer had been Henry Creel (his father never saw this coming), and the 1986 murders were committed by the same person, although completely changed.
After having revealed his true intentions to Eleven and manipulatingly tried to get her to join him, she refuses him and the two of them get into a fight. She eventually wins and out of anger, opens a gate into another dimension (The Upside Down). 001(Victor Creel) goes through the gate, and transforms into Vecna after being struck by a mutated lightning blast.
The scene dramatically cuts to the Creel house in the Upside Down, where Vecna rests, and the mark "001" can be seen on it's arm.
It was Vecna all along, the Upside Down, the Mind Flayer, the Demo-dogs, everything. He had been opening portals all along.
Why doesn't this work?
1. Vecna's motivation doesn't exactly work either.
Basically, if you wanted to summarize Vecna's motivation for turning into a deranged psychopath, it's something like this.
"I Killed everyone I cared about because I was different. I also mentioned something horrible my parents did, which wasn't shown on screen to make everything believable. So I just turned genocidal all of a sudden and had a desire to end the world, because I had spider issues and was sent to the Upside Down."
No, seriously, none of this makes any sense. If it was the case that this mentality developed when he met Dr. Brenner, I would have agreed with it. Brenner was sort of an asshole, so we kind of get why he would have motivation to kill everyone in the facility.
But no, that wasn't how this happened. 001 hadn't even been exposed to this inhumanity before he started killing his family members(Victor Creel looked like a nice guy with a few flaws).
Parents can be shitty and abusive at times, but it wasn't shown enough to make us believe his transition. Certainly not also enough to snap the limbs of a mother and her daughter.
All I'm saying is, the lack of clarity as to what turned him from a sensitive boy who had powers, to a deranged genocidal killer just doesn't work here.
2. Plot hole/Continuity errors
In that exact same episode, of the big reveal, Nancy discovers that the Upside Down is stuck in 1983. Why? Well that's because that was the year as agreed(In Season 1) that Eleven opened a gate to the Upside Down. It was also the same year that Will Byers was declared "missing"(November 6, 1983).
But hold on now, the prequel to all this happened years ago. The flashbacks that Eleven had about Vecna and the first gate that was opened, took place in 1979(as per Season 4), 4 years before the supposed event that made Will Byers a missing person(1983's incident).
So which is it? 1983 or 1979? This is what happens when you're trying to introduce something that wasn't there before in order to scream "Got ya! Clever plot twist! Didn't see that coming, did ya?"
Honestly, this show is like Riverdale and most teen dramas, where they establish a bunch of lore, then they go back and say stuff like, "Uhm... Actually, before all this, uh... This happened. Blah, blah, blah..."
The Duffer Brothers wanted in on the Plot Twist train, but they didn't realise that you can do it so horribly wrong (like this show did), or you can do it brilliantly (Attack On Titan Season 3's plot twist).
Again, why are the Demo-dogs in Russia still alive? Despite the fact that Dustin correctly explained the concept of the mind flayer, the source and the Demo-dogs? Despite the fact that L had closed the gates and all the Demo-dogs died?
Tumblr media
Ah. Who remembers this chick from season 2? I honestly didn't see why this episode(Ep.7) had much hate from fans, I just didn't care enough about the characters to hate them.
Okay? Why her? Well, she's another plot-hole. In that same hated episode she explains that she and L were "sisters" and that L escaped before she did.
So, I don't know if the Duffer Brothers were drunk, because I didn't see a single scene in all of L's childhood flashbacks where she appeared.
Honestly, I'm pretty sure I know the answer; People hated the character so much that the Duffer Brothers decided to remove her from the plot. Even if this was the answer, it just sucks. It just shows why I dislike the fanbase of Stranger Things. This is YOUR story, not the story of the fans.
All this would have been corrected, without the need for this plot twist.
3. It ruins Eleven's character.
I seriously cannot begin to explain how much mess up there is about this twist on L's personality.
First of all she acts like she doesn't know what "bullying" is, and she obviously doesn't know how to construct grammatical sentences properly( a major part of her reason for bonding with Mike in the first place).
With all her smaller developments for liking Eggo's, referring to bad people as "mouth breathers"(because she doesn't have much vocabulary to curse much) and all that.
The Duffer Brothers took all that and threw it out a window. Turns out, None of that Mattered! She was bullied back at the Rainbow room, She could speak properly and construct sentences when she was communicating with Vecna/001/Creel. So If she could do a lot of things in 1979, 4 years before she even met the boy team, why doesn't she remember any of them?
Many Stranger Things' fans would argue that L had a traumatic experience, so she forgot all of that. But that doesn't make any sense does it? She remembers Kali. She remembers the rainbow room, she remembers Dr. Brenner, She remembers the kids, She remembers she opened the gate(like we see in Season 1), but she doesn't remember Vecna? Or that she was bullied? Or that she could speak properly?
Lesson to take home dear writers: Please for the love of Isis, Osiris and Horus, do not use trauma to insert new plot points in your story, it doesn't work out well.
One more thing I forgot to add was; The realization that L wasn't behind the murders, but rather Vecna, was horribly disappointing. Why? Because this shatters everything we know about L having a dark and dangerous potential.
I mean, ever since we got introduced to L, we had a feeling that something was off about her, that she was someone who would bring a lot of problems to anyone she found herself acquainted to.
We also believed she had a "dark side" that no one but her knew. Which is what I kind of got in the first season where L says she was a "monster" to Mike(Because she opened the Gate to the Upside Down in anger, and killed a lot of people, mind you, this supposedly the 1983 Byers went missing, but now it's 1979, all thanks to the plot twist). So it all felt she knew she did something terrible out of anger, which screams secret murderous-like tendencies, like when we see her almost kill the stereotypical bully girl with a boot.
All of this was completely destroyed when L's flashback of those "murders" she committed weren't actually hers, but Vecna's. She was a "good person" all along.
I don't know about you, but I like complexities in characters, and this was an opportunity for them to do something like that, but they had to skip this for... A cheap plot twist.
It could have been written without Vecna's intervention, at all, or with his, just not this way.
In my opinion, the "dark side" of her personality would have been explored better if they made it that she was the one who actually killed those children. Just, this time she did it out of anger.
Remember when Vecna had been manipulating her into believing that the children wanted to kill her? That Brenner hated her? And all that?
Since she was a kid, and didn't know much at that time, it would have been a nice character development for her, if she actually did kill those children, not just out of anger, but also of fear. They were about to kill her, like Vecna said.
Afterwards, Vecna would show up and reveal he lied to her. She would feel guilty, not just because she was manipulated into killing those children, but because deep down, she hated the way they treated her(Vecna would have her do this; Kill innocent people, to become more like him)
L's reaction could have been written as a mixture of feelings; Anger, Guilt, Pleasure, Remorse and Fright.
Which would be why she really thinks of herself a monster, because she's hiding behind mixed feelings of "No I didn't kill them intentionally" and "Maybe secretly, you wanted this"(They tried to do this for Max but it didn't work out well in my opinion).
Then, it was the anger of her being manipulated by a puppeteer that made her open the gate and destroy 001's physical body.
Oh well, it's just an opinion. I just would have loved to see that. Characters, especially the main ones in this series are just irredeemably good(Eg. Joyce). I have issues with that.
People are not like that in real life.
4. It ruins the mystery of the Upside Down
This was the ultimate turn off for me. When I saw in the plot twist that Vecna was behind almost everything that happened in the previous seasons, I was horribly disappointed.
So, basically speaking, the Upside Down isn't a terrifying alternate dimension that creeps slowly into living universes and absorbs them, it is not a dimension filled with Eldritch Abominations that are completely unknowable and difficult to understand, the Mind Flayer isn't an abstract, Incomprehensible monstrosity like we thought in Season 2, the portals of this strange world doesn't just creep into ours for unknown reasons (like we see in many Lovecraftian Horror stories), it isn't a very scary place.
Why? Because everything concerning the Upside Down creeping into our world with "uncertainty"(like we believed) was all connected to a kid(a human with powers) with spider issues who later turned into a genocidal psycho. The mind flayer, the opening gates, the monsters, it was all Vecna's doing. Great.(How to ruin a horror mystery 101).
I can go on and on and on. But that's that by the way.
For the Record I still Love Stranger Things (What it was in Season 1 for the most part), so it sort of irks me a bit to criticise the show.
It's just, it's sad to see how fanservice ruined a show like this that had so much potential.
That's it for now, and I'd see you next time.

Take two of asking for some gay panic with the ladies, any ladies, all the ladies! Scenario preferably~
Afternoons in the Proxy Commons and Spirit Halloween
[Jane the Killer, Nina the Killer, Clockwork, Kate the Chaser X F!Reader]
[Warnings: none]
[AN: I really want to go to a Spirit Halloween, sigh]
It’s not often that you’re able to spend time in Slender manor. In fact, the place isn’t even really your domain to begin with. You come here every now and then to help with festivities the Slender Man deems necessary for “morale”. This upcoming festivity? Halloween.
Your pseudo boss, the Slender Man, told you to head to the store and get some decorations which was ludacris in itself. He’s an almighty, powerful being and he needs you to go to Spirit Halloween when he hosts a manor full of murderers from all over the country daily?
The answer is apparently yes.
“You may take the ladies with you,” The Slender Man waves off. “They are not doing anything this afternoon.”
You drop your shoulders, knowing that it’s useless to even consider going against his word. “And we’re going to pay for this with what?”
The Slender Man makes noise of amusement before one of his long tendrils opens up a drawer to his left, opening it and producing a - a credit card? He hums quietly and lowers it down to you, depositing the plastic into your hands.
“A debit card? Really?”
“Is that a problem?”
“Where did you even get this?”
“None of your concern.” The Slender Man’s tendril finds its way to your back before turning you towards his office door, pushing you towards it. “The ladies are in the proxy commons.”
You glance over your shoulder at him before nodding, a slight grin on your lips at his general annoyance of you before pushing the big doors open. You mentally begin to think over the way to the proxy commons, the mansion bending its hallways to your destination. The halls here always smell of jasmine.
When you reopen your eyes after zoning out for a moment or two, you realize that you’re standing in front of the arch of the proxy commons. It’s actually relatively empty save for a table full of ladies you’ve only ever met a handful of times. You take in a small breath, almost hyping yourself and your confidence up before stepping in. Soft rays of sunlight pass over your skin as you walk into the well lit room and listen to the gentle hum of passing conversation.
There, sitting at a round table are four of the most influential women in your society. Jane the Killer, beauty in black. Clockwork, timeless in every sense. Kate the Chaser, a subtle treasure. Nina the Killer, devotion like none other.
They’re smiling and laughing, enjoying the afternoon with each other when Nina finally pipes up and notices you. Her eyes widen for a moment before her lips curl up into a beaming smile. “Oh, you’re finally here!” She exclaimed, hopping out of her seat. “He told us to expect you.”
Nina’s hands are cold as she wraps her arms around you, but you welcome her touch all the same. “He did?”
Kate nods, a small hum coming from her throat as she sips at her tea. “Mhm. Already got a car waiting in Rosswood’s parking lot.”
“Ready to go when you are,” Natalie pipes in as she drinks the rest of her beverage.
“Might as well uh, leave now,” you say as you catch Jane’s warm smile, voice faltering for just a moment.
The ladies nod and begin to get up, Nina linking her arm with yours before she begins to drag you towards the mansion’s entrance.

“He couldn’t just use his infinite power and use his own halloween decorations?” Natalie says as she shoves her hands in her pockets, looking up at the reasonably crowded Spirit Halloween.
Kate shrugs and locks the car before plopping the keys into her hoodie’s pocket. “He likes to keep us on our toes, I guess,” she chuckles, nodding for the group to follow her.
Jane matches pace with you and Nina (who has refused to unlink arms with you the entire time she’s been in your presence), before resting her head on your shoulder. “I wanna check out the costumes,” she says, nuzzling into you.
You smile and nuzzle her back, softly melting into her touch as you do so. “Me too.”
“I want to see the decorations,” Nina beams. “I’m thinking we go full Halloween party this year, screw the upper class!” She exclaims, now dragging you and Jane at full speed.
The notion brings a laugh from Natalie as she opens the front door, letting everyone else inside before her. “Don’t get too carried away,” she says. “We’re here to Reader can to a job,” she grins.
“It’s not like we have to make it boring,” Nina pouts.
“I’d also love to see what costumes Reader looks best in,” Jane muses. “Maybe a little bunny?” She jokes, index finger tapping your nose and making you giggle as you scrunch your nose up in response.
“What about a kitty?” Kate suggests as she glances down one of the aisles. “I think that would be purr-fect for her.” Kate grins slightly and holds her hand out to you, watching as you unlink your arm from Nina’s to travel down to the lawn decorations.
You chuckle as Kate warmly holds you while glancing at all the lawn decorations. There’s clowns, slashers, things that you’d genuinely love to have on Slender Man’s front lawn! However, you know that he’d be put off by the “tackiness”.
You turn your head to the side and that’s when you see it - a giant, poorly made Slender Man that wiggles its arms and barely lunges at whoever is viewing it. “Oh my gods,” you say, suddenly letting go of Kate’s hand and stalking towards the ungodly thing like a moth to moonlight.
Kate raises a brow and looks over her shoulder to finally see what you’re looking at, and a laugh escapes her throat. “Oh my gods, guys, look-” she says as she begins to walk over and join you, hands in her pockets.
Natalie, who had been busy talking shit at the poor Pennywise animatronic, was suddenly pulled over by Jane to see the Slender Man reject. She grins and links arms with Jane and Nina, laughter escaping their lips as the thing lunges weakly at you. “He’s so ugly,” she snorts.
“He’s always ugly,” Nina giggles as she looks upwards at the tall prop.
“Yeah,” Natalie adds on, “how dare he exist in the same space as Reader, right?”
Laughter rings out from the group as their eyes slowly move over to you.
“Beauty and the Beast situation,” Kate continues as she slings her arm over your shoulders.
“She’s gotta kiss him to make him pretty?” Nina chuckles as she pokes the animatronic’s spindly arms. “Ooooo, maybe if Reader kissed me I’d become pretty?”
You make a sound of surprise and feel heat rush to your cheeks. “What? You’re already pretty!”
“Think I might need a kiss too,” Natalie hums.
“Same here,” Jane grins.
Kate hums and presses her lips to the crown of your head. “Me too.” You laugh and shake your head before reaching into your back pocket for the list of things you need. “Ladies, we’re here on a mission!” You exclaim in a slightly flustered tone.
“We know,” Jane hums, her fingers gently playing with your loose strands of hair. “But how often do we get to hang out with you?”
“Right,” Natalie nods. “Might as well have some fun with it,” she teases in a joking tone, her hand grabbing yours.
You watch with wide eyes as the clock eyed woman raises it to her lips, gently planting a kiss on the back of it. Heat erupts over your face once more. Your heart is thumping wildly in your chest.
Nina pouts. “No fair!” She stomps her boot onto the linoleum tile. “I was gonna do that to Reader!”
Kate laughs and sways you in her arms. “Reader does have another hand.”
You sigh playfully and relent, watching as the clad in purple woman bounds up to you.
Gonna be a busy shopping trip, huh?

Random creepypasta headcanons
I imagine slenderman being like a dad figure to most of the pastas there and him seeing them like his kiddos (even though he doesn't admit it)
Even if the pastas do work for slenderman by killing, stalking, etc. Slenderman still offers psychological help and gives proper diagnosis of any health or mental problems
The most sensative and emotional and will literally cry for the dumbest reasons would be sherry, Sally, and nina
Sherry one time cried because she saw a venous flytrap catch a beetle and she felt bad for it
Slenderman probably has that little golden star sticker board for the pastas, and they earn a golden star if they finish a job early, help with chores, or just do any good deed in the mansion
LJ has a soft spot for abused children
Will Grossman wants to kill to become a famous killer like the pastas but gets scared to do so, and will probably cry if he ever did kill (especially if it was someone innocent)
Ben, sherry, and nina probably have shrines of their fictional crushes from games and anime
Ben is probably a huge weeb and probably owns body pillows and life size cut outs
Sherry, Jeff, and puppeteer are Hispanic and speak spanish
Sherry and Jeff speaks in Spanish sometimes just so no one knows what they're saying
Toby probably collects anything weird or interesting that he finds in the woods during missions
Toby is kinda like a cat. He will bring you random things he finds to show he likes you or appreciates you. So if he brings you a cool looking branch he found, you better appreciate it
They work for slender but not really as slaves, they actually get paid, but the highest paid are the proxies sense they are more professional and have more experience
When slenderman is with others rulers of hell, he brags about his workers and proxies
"WHERE'S THE CHOCCY MILK?!"-Toby

Hi! If you don't mind could you write me some headcanons about being bff with some female cp's? Like Jane, Nina, Clockwork, Nurse Ann...?
One of my best friends is called one of these names so it was odd to write XD Some headcanon’s were totally true about her as well, and some definitely were n o t. XD
Anyway I’m not sure how comprehensive this is since I just kinda spewed it all out so, uh… I hope you like them! 😅
~~~
Clockwork:
Tumblr media
·         Natalie stays at your house all the time and eats all your food. Girl has a FAST metabolism so you cannot tell, but she eats e v e r y t h i n g.
·         She doesn’t even have a key to your home, you just come home from everyday activities and she’s slumped in your couch cushions watching TV and there’s a pool on your bathroom floor from her shower and- oh, she has also ordered pizza so get your wallet out.
·         You just squint/glare at her before flopping on the couch beside her. She hands you the remote and gets comfier by you.
·         Even when you have a romantic interest over, she is there at your house, comfortable on the couch playing games on your phone as you walk your ‘friend’ to your room.
·         It’s not all frustrating though, she’s always there to protect you. There have been multiple burglaries that she has intercepted and ‘taken care of’. She’s honestly like a guard dog who also has an excellent sense of humour.
·         And don’t think she just wants you around for your apartment and money. Nay nayyyyyy nay. She tells you all about the Creepypasta drama and what’s going on at the mansion, even though you aren’t apart of that life.
·         And she calls when she’s away. Just calls up to talk to you.
·         You two are the kind of friends that don’t need to talk to each other all the time. In fact, you agree that talking to people all the time is annoying and too much trouble, and you could totally go without each other for days (Weeks even) if either of you were busy! But… without either of you even realising, you always end up contacting each other in one way or another every day, anyway. Its easy with you two. No romantic relationship could compare.
·         She was the groom and you were the bride in your make-believe weddings and mums and dads games as kids.
·         On Toby: “Okay Nat, I like Toby but I hope you know, if he hurts you… well there is absolutely nothing I can do to wreak revenge on your behalf, as he is a duo hatchet wielding psychopath, except maybe give him a stink eye. … When he is looking away and therefore cannot see the stink eye.”
·         More on the Toby subject: Clockwork once took you to Slender Mansion (Cuz you were targeted by a botched victim of hers because she cares about you and she wanted you close by to keep you safe until she could, like, finish killing the guy and all. Whatever though, no biggie. Pft, At least that’s how she made it out to be.) and she had to leave you for a moment so she handcuffed you and Toby together because he’s the only one she could trust to watch you.
·         It was very awkward for the two of you, but definitely a bonding experience. You were both very happy to see Clocky come back though.
·         HORROR. The world of horror is your favourite genre together. Supernatural horror, slashers, basement dwellers, vampires, werewolves, the blob, stalkers, murderers, psychological horror, black and white, colour, movies, tv shows, books- whatever. You two get so excited to experience new fictional horror.
Jane The Killer:
Tumblr media
·         If you’re into boys, let me tell you right away- Jane is very critical of their actions. She was at a very influential time in her life (Especially concerning boys and girls and romance) when she met Jeff and Liu. She met those boys, thought ‘Oh, they’re cute. Maybe budding crush?’, and then Jeff killed her family, burnt down her home and ruined her life and Liu became an asshole, and now the male species has been, sorta… tainted. She knows there are good ones (In fact, m a n y boys are lovely, of course.), but one’s that you’re in romantic cahoots with are always going to be under her very watchful eye anyway so she doesn’t really bother to hold back her fear (Which translates into dislike… or hate) with them. So if you have boy problems, be careful. Provided you like this/these guy/s, at least. If you don’t like them, then she’s the perfect person to go to!
·         If you are a boy, then- of course, none of this applies to you. She loves you. Don’t worry. You’re her best friend!
·         Girls are an entirely different situation though of course. Jane drinks that love women juice every single day.
·         Jane is really good with altering clothes, so she’s the one you go to when you need help hemming something or taking something in. She likes to do it, too. Quality best friend time while not being lazy.
·         Speaking of her hating to be lazy… This does not apply at night. Nighttime is a whole other ballgame. Its bedtime by 7 for her if you don’t lock her into plans a week in advance. If she is braless and in her P.J’s, you will not be able to peel her from her home. Except for snacks, but even if she goes to the grocery store, she’s not getting changed and she’s going to wear her bunny slippers.
·         You two watch so many cartoons together. Gravity Falls, Star Vs The Forces of Evil, Over The Garden Hedge, Villainous, Looney Tunes, Ducktales, etc. Any and all that you can get your hands on.
·         You two are prepared to get platonically married, for any reason. Like, you need to stay in the country? Married; You’re staying. You’re the only one who can testify against hr in the court of law? Married, so by law you don’t have to. One of you accidentally planted yourselves with a kid and (Cuz you’re ride or die for each other, obviously), you’re gonna parent the child together and cuz of religious beliefs one of your would feel better about raising them together with a wedding band? Married.
·         Jane doesn’t drink, so when/if you get drunk she’s always there to keep you safe.
·         Jane also gets friend-jealous, a lot. Like, that bitch just called you her best friend, Y/N. Is she your best friend? I thought I was. So who is it, Y/N? Me or her? HM? (She is prepared to turn up to wherever you and this person are hanging, all glamorous and cool as she is, and show off. Prove she’s a way better friend then this new person so they back off).
·         When you were little, she was the bride and you were the groom in your wedding/marriage/mums and dads games.
Nina The Killer:
Tumblr media
·         You have known her for both your entire lives and there have been iffy, and dark times but through hell and high water you have stuck with her. You love her. She’s your girl, you are her person too. You will be with her, and protect her from anything.
·         You are the only one in the world that loves her, really. You may not quite understand her weirdness, but you stick with her anyway because you love her.
·         Just like- baseline of your friendship is being ride or die for each other.
·         You were also really into Jeff, but at a more… healthy? Level? Like, you were still romantically interested in a real-life murderer, but you wouldn’t have done anything about it. You wouldn’t hurt anyone (Except to protect others) or victim blame, or contact the victims (Dear God) or whatever, but you would take peaks at fanfiction and gab with Nina about it. I mean, it’s not grand, but in comparison to Nina, hah… you were harmless.
·         Now though, that you’ve met him and he is the reason your bets friend is so hurt and broken, you are not the fondest of him. I mean, you still have a place in your heart for the version of him you and Nina made up in your heads (The version that Nina still believes is real) but that isn’t the real him. Jeff Woods is an ass. You need to keep your friend safe from him.
·         And uh… so nowadays… occasionally, you will find out where Jeff is (You keep an ear out) and, you know, just… lie your ass off to Nina. Yep. You tell her you heard that he’s in the opposite direction than he is so that she’ll unknowingly put more distance between him and her.
·         Yes. It’s a lie, but… its for the greater good! It’s for Nina’s mental health and physical safety.
·         Anyway, moving on to lighter things.
·         In your make believe mums and dads/’grown up’ games that you would play together as kids, you were a single parent and she was the dog.
·         She will lie for you in an instant. She’s also really good at it.
·         You walked into a room once and saw she was drawing something, and it turned out to be your joint tombstone. She has not let this go- you will be buried in the same plot together, if it is the last thing she does. This is slightly concerning, but… also kind of cute. You can roll with it.
·         “What if I get married or have kids?”
·         “They will need to apply with me to join. There will be an interview process.”
·         ‘What about pets?”
·         “Oh, they can come in! No fee!”
·         Do not underestimate her weight. If she doesn’t want you to leave, she will hold onto your leg and go deadweight, and you will s t r u g g l e.
·         Nina talks to herself, but she acts like the person she’s talking to is another person, inside her mind. You both know its not, but you refer to the other girl as Agnes anyway. Super casual.
·         Follows you when you go on dates (At least the first one with someone)to make sure all goes well and texts you rapid fire when she smells something fishy. Even the smallest thing.
·         You two really love dystopian teen fiction. Divergent? Matched? Hunger Games? Maze Runner? Ugles? Alllllll. You consume them and then watch the movies/tv shows too.
Nurse Ann:
Tumblr media
·         Live-in medical services! This means you can get really cheap life insurance and not worry about it to much.
·         And on the topic of insurance… Ann is super smart, and organised, and just really awesome at practical stuff like that. Insurance, bills, mortgages, any kind of forms and receipts. And she’s happy to sit down and help you go through it- and, as we all know, everything is better when it’s with a friend you feel comfortable with.
·         You can tell Ann anything and she’ll just roll with it. No judgment. Either she takes it and lets you talk about it or she just acknowledges it and moves on.
·         Like Jane, Ann has very little patience for boy problems. In fact, she has zero time for it. Boys? Girls? No thank you. So if you’re into boys, I have some bad news for you.
·         Best friend maintenance. Occasionally, Ann will over work herself (with murder) and you will need to guide her to relaxation. Gently persuade her to sit down at the dinner table and just make idle chit chat with her every now and then as you make her a good, hearty meal (Or as good as you can do XD Anything between Beefy stew and a Cheese toastie will work fine, don’t worry. She’s not picky at all), and then watch some movies with her. No phones, no knitting, no drawing, no… whatever. No other activities except TV watching! She needs to rest. I’m always shocked at how relaxing just sitting and watching TV can be. There’s a big difference between doing that and multitasking.
·         Ann will call you to pretend there’s an emergency if you want to get out of social engagement.
·         A thing that two enjoy together is science fiction. Star Trek (Including the animation), The War of Worlds, the world of Star Wars, Dune, a Handmaids Tail, The 100, Eureka, etc. She loves the brainy stuff.
·         Ann is the logical friend, who tries to give the most practical advice and make pros and con lists and everything. And then you go ahead and do the crazy thing, the thing she said definitely would not work and would probably make things worse, and she just face palms and says she’s never getting mixed up in your mess again. … Until the next time, when she totally does.
·         “I love you Y/N, but I am not about to walk into a police office and bail you out of jail so do not do that.”
·         You trap her into resting by painting her nails (Hands and feet) in her sleep right before her alarm is about to go off so she has to take the morning SLOW or the paint will mess up. She just wakes up, you hold up a sign in front of her face that says ‘NAILS’ and she stops immediately. “You bitch.”
·         As kids, of course, the two of you would play make-believe family games and you were both mums (/ or you were the dad). She was the working mum and you were forced to stay home take care the baby (large container of vitamins with a face drawn on).
Book Rec’s
Going to try and add a lot of less known books that are amazing and not enough people talk about, this would be too long if I talked about each one in depth, so I am going to leave my fav quotes as that tends to give me a feel for books and whether I will like them and I will link the GR page for more info! Happy reading:)
Fantasy Vibes
Tumblr media
From Blood And Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout    (CLICK THIS TOO)
“Death is like an old friend who pays a visit, sometimes when it’s least expected and other times when you’re waiting for her. It’s neither the first nor the last time she’ll pay a visit, but that doesn’t make any death less harsh or unforgiving.”
“Fear and bravery are often one and the same. It either makes you a warrior or a coward. The only difference is the person it resides inside.”
 “You're an absolutely stunning, murderous little creature.”
Storm And Fury by Jennifer L Armentrout
“What are you going to do if it does get worse?” he asked. “Maybe I’ll get myself a seeing-eye gargoyle.”
(HONESTLY BADASS GARGOYLES. SO UNIQUE AND AWESOME)
Demons At Deadnight by A&E Kirk
“I launched into a graceful ninja-like front roll, then stood my ground to face the monstrous heathen, fearless in my determination to vanquish the deadly foe.
Nah, just kidding. I bolted, discretion being the better part of not getting dead.”
“We are killers,” Matthias said. Bad news.
“Not girls. We don’t kill girls.” Good news.
“She’s no girl.” Insulting news?
“What? Of course she’s a girl.”
“Shut up, Blake,” the rest of them chorused.”
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
“If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.”
“If you hurt me, I wouldn't cry. I would hurt you back.”
“I am going to keep on defying you. I am going to shame you with my defiance. You remind me that I am a mere mortal and you are a prince of Faerie. Well, let me remind you that means you have much to lose and I have nothing. You may win in the end, you may ensorcell me and hurt me and humiliate me, but I will make sure you lose everything I can take from you on the way down. I promise you this is the least of what I can do.”
MM Romance
Tumblr media
Him by Sabrina Bowen & Elle Kennedy
“Our mouths fit together so perfectly. Every time we kiss, I fall even more in love with him, and it has nothing to do with sex or lust. It's him. His closeness and his scent and the way he soothes me.”
“I…” He clears his throat. “I’d let you do it, though.” My hand freezes in his hair. “You would?” Wes nods. “I’d let you do anything to me, Canning.”
Misfits by Garrett Leigh (Poly romance, its just so perfect ala herongraystairs!)
“Learn something. Read a book. Explore someone. Anger is just a hole where your life could be.”
“Who said 'please' that made you hate the word so much?"  Andrew gazed at him in silence for a minute. "I did.”
“I didn't think I was a personal problem. You hate me, remember?" "Every inch of you," Andrew said. "That doesn't mean I wouldn't blow you."
“Everyone has something dark in their past. I suppose it's our job to overcome it. And if we can’t overcome it, then all we can do is make the most of it.”
“The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.”
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
“It can take years to mold a dream. It takes only a fraction of a second for it to be shattered.”
“Taking another life, she had whispered, even a guilty one, should never be easy. If it were, we'd be little more than animals.”
“Maybe there was no one way to define it. Maybe there were as many shades of love as the blues of the sky,”
“We all have our different skills. You’re patient to a fault, which sometimes doesn’t work to your advantage. I, on the other hand, have the patience of a wet cat. Only on rare occasions does that come in handy.”
“Maybe there were a hundred different ways to fall in love.”
Circus Vibes
Tumblr media
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
“Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything.”
“She imagined loving him would feel like falling in love with darkness, frightening and consuming yet utterly beautiful when the stars came out.”
“Some things are worth pursuit regardless of the cost.”
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
“You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows that they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift.”
“Secrets have power. And that power diminishes when they are shared, so they are best kept and kept well. Sharing secrets, real secrets, important ones, with even one other person, will change them. Writing them down is worse, because who can tell how many eyes might see them inscribed on paper, no matter how careful you might be with it. So it's really best to keep your secrets when you have them, for their own good, as well as yours.”
Six of Hearts by L.H Cosway
“Note to self: Never try to out-trick a trickster.”
“So why not live with the magic? Be a kid again and believe in the fantastical. Life is more fun with a little smoke and mirrors.”
“We all have thoughts that we would never, ever vocalise. And people who say they don’t are liars.”
“I once read that people who have imaginary friends never reach out to touch them. There’s some part of their brain that subconsciously knows it will break the spell. That’s what it feels like with Jay.”
Amour Amour by Krista & Becca Richie
“We all traverse in and out of people’s worlds, leaving footprints. Some larger, some smaller, but there is always a mark. We can’t sweep it away.”
“Life is a rollercoaster with no volunteers. We’re all forced to take a seat and ride it out.
“I’m average. I’ve been average most of my life, but there are moments where I feel extraordinary. Invincible. Able to conquer any fear and step outside any box. There is no illusion, no fantasy. I can climb a forty-foot pole. I can fly eighty-feet in the air. I can be taller than tall. It’s a dream that I’m living. Every day. With him.”
More M/M Romance
Tumblr media
The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller
“I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”
“And perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone.”
“He is a weapon, a killer. Do not forget it. You can use a spear as a walking stick, but that will not change its nature.”
“He is half of my soul, as the poets say.”
Axel’s Pup by Kim Dare  (Shifter Romance & BDSM FYI if thats not your jazz)
"I want to screw you, and tie you up, and make you writhe from-you know all that. But I want so much more. I want the whole thing, not just a quick scene. I want twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. I want you to be mine. I won't take anything less."
Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
“In your dream. You were looking for me.""I'm always looking for you,"
“He was funny and focused and fierce. I mean the guy could be fierce. And there wasn’t anything mean about him. I didn’t understand how you could live in a mean world and not have any of that meanness rub off on you.”
“He looked like an angel. And all I wanted to do was put my fist through his jaw. I couldn't stand my own cruelty.”
“One of the secrets of the universe was that our instincts were sometimes stronger than our minds. Another secret of the universe: Sometimes pain was like a storm that came out of nowhere.”
Shattered Glass by Dani Alexander
"Tell me something good about your life," I whispered, needing to hear that he wasn't as broken as I thought him to be.[...]"You." It was so quiet I almost didn't hear it.”
“Is he my competition?” I asked. “Everyone is your competition.” Peter lifted his hand to his eyes and began lowering it incrementally. “It goes normal human beings, crazies, republicans, my hand, imaginary characters, corpses and then, in a moment of lustful psychosis, you.” By the time he was done, his hand was below the table.
Kiss The Sky by Krista & Becca Richie
“You’re not a pit stop. You’re my finish line. There’s no one after you.”
“People hope to touch the sky. I dream of kissing it.”
“I love the way he’s staring at me. It makes me feel more than just beautiful. I feel like I’m his. Like no one else could possibly compare to me. He doesn’t even have to say the words. I see it in his eyes. I can practically read it in his mind.”
“I’ve wanted so many things in life,” he says softly, “but you’re the one that has meant the most to me.”
Translation: I love you.”
Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
“It breaks my heart the way young girls pick themselves over, never thinking they're good enough. You make sure you always remember, you're exactly the way you're supposed to be. Exactly. And anyone who says otherwise, well, poppycock.”
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
“Ugly love becomes you. Consumes you. Makes you hate it all. Makes you realize that all the beautiful parts aren't even worth it. Without the beautiful, you'll never risk feeling the ugly. So you give it all up. You give it all up. You never want love again, no matter what kind it is, because no type of love will ever be worth living through the ugly love again.”
“Some people they grow wiser as they grow older. Unfortunately, most people just grow older.”
“Sometimes the spirit of a man isn't strong enough to survive the ghosts of his past”
GLASS (2019)
Starring James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Spencer Treat Clark, Charlayne Woodard, Luke Kirby, Adam David Thompson, Shannon Destiny Ryan, Diana Silvers, Nina Wisner, Kyli Zion, Serge Didenko, Russell Posner, Ukee Washington and M. Night Shyamalan.
Screenplay by M. Night Shyamalan.
Directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
Distributed by Universal Pictures. 128 minutes. Rated PG-13.
I may be incorrect on this fact, but I’m relatively certain that Glass is the first time that one movie acted as the sequel to two separate, totally distinct films. M. Night Shyamalan’s latest is a mash-up of characters from two of his earlier works: the 2000 vigilante drama Unbreakable and the 2016 serial-killer/hostage thriller Split.
This seems a little odd, since though they share some thematic similarities, in general the two movies have little in common. The script suggests here that their connection is comic book superheroes, but while Split did have a supernatural villain called “The Beast,” that movie otherwise didn’t appear to have too much of the feel of a graphic novel.
Shyamalan did hint at this merging of plotlines in the closing scene of Split, when Bruce Willis’ hero vigilante David Dunn suddenly out of the blue had a cameo appearance in a diner watching a TV news story about the goings on in Split. His appearance in the earlier film was a slightly confounding Easter egg for Shyamalan’s fans (are there still any of those out there?), but not a part of the story of that film.
There is an even more basic problem with the slicing and dicing of these two stories. Split, which is only a few years old, will probably still be relatively fresh in people’s minds. However, most people – myself included – haven’t seen Unbreakable in almost 20 years and only have a vague recollection of the happenings in that film.
Nonetheless, Glass reunites (and unites) four major characters (and a few other minor characters) from those two films.
From Unbreakable there is Dunn – aka the Overseer. Dunn is an ordinary man who finds he has superpowers – super strength, invulnerability to injury and the ability to read the minds of people he has touched. He has apparently spent the last two decades roaming the streets of Philadelphia in a raincoat dispensing justice, if perhaps on a slightly small scale. Even his day job fits into this mindset – he runs a home security store with his now adult son (Spencer Treat Clark, revising the character he played as a child in Unbreakable).
Dunn’s self-proclaimed nemesis was Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), aka Mr. Glass. Elijah’s superpower is his brilliance; however, he is betrayed by his body, which due to a childhood disease makes him extremely susceptible to broken bones. Elijah has apparently been locked up in a mental hospital, extensively medicated, for the 19 years since Unbreakable. He appears to be nearly catatonic – but is he understanding more that is going on around him than he lets on?
The villain from Split is Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), a serial kidnapper with DID (Dissociative identity disorder) who has 24 different personalities battling with each other for supremacy, including one horrific one called “The Beast.” Crumb has been kidnapping groups of a few young high school girls (this latest time all cheerleaders) and eventually killing most of them.
The one kidnapped girl that he did allow to go free was Casey Cook (Anya Taylor-Joy), a smart, beautiful and empathetic young girl who was able to see beyond the monster in Crumb and find the humanity. (In most, if not all of his personalities, too.) Also, she shared a history of childhood victimization with Crumb, surviving a horrific relationship with an abusive uncle.
Okay, it’s a pretty random grouping, but some rather interesting characters. What will Shyamalan do with them now that he has gathered them together?
Disappointingly, for a huge chunk of Glass, he just puts them through group psychoanalysis.
Like 20 minutes into the film, the story locks them all up in a mental hospital – well all except for Casey, who just visits the place periodically and voluntarily. At the hospital, a shady-seeming government psychologist named Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) attempts to convince the three that they are not superheroes. They are normal men and all their “powers” can be explained away rationally. Of course, even the doctor’s basic premise is flawed – only one of the three self-identifies as a superhero, the other two are super-villains.
With few short exceptions, we do not leave the mental hospital again for well over an hour of the film’s running time. Yawn.
It’s a bit of a shame, because some of the early scenes such as Dunn and his now 20-something son scouring the city (and the internet) looking for criminals, are somewhat intriguing. On the other hand, I did (and do) have the same problem with the character of Crumb as I did in Split. His flittering from one personality to another on a dime seemed a little ridiculous – though I do admit that McAvoy does a great job of giving each personality a distinct lifeforce.
Still, I wish that Shyamalan had allowed the characters to stay on the streets of Philadelphia, saving the day and doing battle and getting into some adventures more gripping than Mr. Glass sneaking out into the hospital late at night in his wheelchair.
By the time that Shyamalan’s inevitable trick ending comes along, we’ve mostly stopped caring what is going on in their world.
Different anon here, I agree the problem with tvd wasn’t elena, it was the writing. And it’s obvious because after Nina left it didn’t get better. My issue was that elena never lived up to the hype. There was no depth or substance to her character. The writers just expected us to believe that she was this incredibly loving person whose friends would constantly fight for. For example they never go into detail as to why Bonnie has so much love for elena and is willing to die for her. 1/2
“Different anon here, I agree the problem with tvd wasn’t elena, it was the writing. And it’s obvious because after Nina left it didn’t get better. My issue was that elena never lived up to the hype. There was no depth or substance to her character. The writers just expected us to believe that she was this incredibly loving person whose friends would constantly fight for. For example they never go into detail as to why Bonnie has so much love for elena and is willing to die for herWhich never made sense because they never had any flashbacks or sentimental memories that explained the reason for this strong bond. And the writers constantly made everyone who disagreed with elena an outcast. Like in season 1 Caroline/elena are frenemies but the writers switched it up to them all being friends. And Katherine being the bad version of elena. I agree as well about Stefan and Bonnie having the potential to be protagonists.”
Well I go into great detail about the problem with Elena quite often:
Elena does have a clearly defined personality the problem is that the personality lacks follow through and therefore it doesn’t have clearly defined execution.
Elena is supposed to be a deeply empathetic and compassionate person who loves passionately and makes reckless decisions to keep those she loves safe. She is supposed to be a caretaker, which is why in 2x04 when Caroline is trying to drive a wedge between her and Stefan she tells Elena she’s too maternal not to have kids. She is supposed to be understanding and non-judgemental, which gives her the ability to ‘see the good in everyone.’ She is also supposed to have “darkness” in her because she will do morally questionable things to ensure the outcome she wants and she can be emotionally manipulative although that’s mostly towards Damon. And after watching season 2, I’m realizing she is supposed to have a legit martyr complex.
But like I said, the problem is follow-through. Elena can’t have a martyr complex when the narrative works so hard to keep her from actually having to sacrifice anything, the intent to martyr herself is not enough because it makes the audience go, easy for you to say, Elena, you don’t actually have to be the Bonnie in this situation, do you?
Elena being empathetic and compassionate doesn’t really work that well when she’s dating the man who single-handedly terrorized each and every one of her friends
*note* from another post of mine:
If Elena can’t help but try and find a modicum of goodness in everyone around her that she would do mental gymnastics to find something in Damon, then her empathy would have to be a huge problem, like it would kind of have to drive her crazy. Like there’s a scene in Grey’s Anatomy when Meredith and Derek are fighting because they have a patient who is a serial killer and Meredith sympathizes with him and Derek is like, he is a fucking serial killer! and she watches his execution because she wants to show compassion and she sort of has a breakdown because of it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[cont’d] and she doesn’t even come across as a good friend because when she is with her friends, if they’re not talking about her problems and are instead talking about Caroline’s issues and the one, two times they talk about Bonnie, Elena doesn’t say much, she usually just shrugs or makes a noise (and that’s not Elena’s fault, that’s the writing’s fault).
Her being maternal and caretaker doesn’t work well when Elena doesn’t actually do much to show this. All she really does is hug people and that’s not enough. When Jeremy is a legit drug dealer in season 1 and gets into a fight with Tyler when he’s drunk and has an actual bottle, Elena literally lets Jeremy walk away, she pretty much let’s Jeremy do his own thing, if she’s as worried about him as the show is trying to tell us she is, then that’s when Elena goes to the smokers den and drags him into class, it’s when she’s blowing up his phone and calling everyone he hangs out with. She needs to be involved not passively concerned.
And the other thing is because Elena is supposed to be such a nice person and the show just wants to make her this wholeheartedly good person they forget that good people can have complex emotions.
*from yet another post of mine*
the show wants to show that Elena is so understanding and can see things from every possible perspective that she could hug Tyler even after he brought a werewolf to the lakehouse and tried to hunt her and Stefan and kill them and I’m just kind of like … … I don’t buy it because you guys aren’t really selling it because you don’t give me the details that make that kind of behaviour seem realistic and not Mary Sue-ish. What I would need for that to be realistic is a scene, a quick one, where Damon is telling Elena that Tyler is a threat and needs to be killed and Stefan is saying that Tyler doesn’t need to be killed but he’s still potentially a threat and Elena being like well Damon you killed his uncle and all of us helped cover it up and now that he’s found out I don’t exactly blame him for being angry at us, he has every right to be angry at us, I have no idea what I would do if Jeremy wasn’t wearing the ring when you killed him so I think we just need to approach this with understanding since Tyler is in his right! And then she and Stefan go to the lakehouse and what happened happens and Tyler is MORE visibly shaken by what happened because Tyler is just kind of like “oh. my bad”
Tumblr media
but if he was actually like on the ground, crying being like, I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S RIGHT OR WRONG ANYMORE and Elena kneels next to him and holds him then I could buy that.
Once again, in BTVS, Willow endangers Buffy’s younger sister Dawn because she’s going through a magic addiction and it creates a situation where Dawn actually slaps her and Buffy is walking away from Willow and Willow like falls to the ground, crying, saying she needs help
and even though Buffy is FURIOUS she still comforts her
[cont’d] Elena should have that. Elena should struggle with the idea of martyring herself, she should be like Stefan, do you really think I want to die? I’m seventeen, of course I don’t want to die, this entire situation sucks but what sucks more is that everyone else is bending over backwards doing things that will get them killed to make sure I stay alive, I would rather just be dead. You can call me selfish if you want, but none of you are dying if I can help it. Just something like that. Instead we get her having a breakdown over the fact that she was supposed to grow up and have kids and not become a vampire, they should’ve changed that to her breaking down about the choice she made but also not regretting it.
But characterization is not a problem unique to Elena. Damon has PLENTY of contradictions:
Season 1 was all about how Damon would do anything to get Katherine back — it’s not like Elena awakened in Damon the capacity to feel because he’d been feeling and waiting for Katherine for over 100 years. So when Stefan and Damon have that exchange in 2x01 when Stefan goes on and on about how Damon feels something for Elena and he won’t let Katherine come in and destroy that part of him and in season 3, when he’s like “I get it, Elena, I care too much. How ironic.” I’m sitting there like but that part of him was NEVER destroyed! Damon’s problem is that he can’t handle what he feels so he kills people because it’s easier than dealing with his shit. If anything it was Stefan who was unwilling to feel, unwilling to be vulnerable and let someone in and meeting Elena forced him to do that […]
And Damon doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he feels emotions deeply when he kills people because he’s hurt, he’s not stoic and he’s not a brooder, he doesn’t hide how he feels.
And I’ve spoken about the friend dynamics:
With Caroline and Elena I said that I would want actual development there. One of the issues with Elena is that the show just wanted her to be all around likeable, she had no problems with anyone and if anyone had problems with her it was a that person thing not a them and Elena thing. But Caroline and Elena would be more believable as friends and more interesting as friends if they started out as frenemies, if we kept it here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and we found out more about their backstory and how things used to be when Elena’s parents were alive, Elena essentially being the Serena to Caroline’s Blair except not as close as Serena and Blair yet close enough for Elena to care if Caroline got hurt
Tumblr media
then Caroline became a vampire and got introduced into that world and through saving her life from Damon and Stefan teaching her and her just being around all the time and Bonnie not fully embracing the vampirism thing, the two of them got closer and became friends more than frenemies
Tumblr media
I think that would’ve been better and I would’ve development over they’ve all been BEST friends since they were kids.
For Bonnie and Elena, I need a reason why Bonnie and Elena are bonded for life. I need a reason why Bonnie would go so hard for Elena and I need reciprocity. The issue with TVD is that the writers seem to think that hugging all the time shows closeness because really that’s all Elena does for Bonnie, she hugs her
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and they have great chemistry as friends but they don’t have a story. What Bonnie and Elena need is an understanding that only they get.
but these aren’t problems that only relate to Elena and her friendships, I have a post about all of the friendships here: http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/171218100600/do-you-have-any-posts-explaining-why-tvd
But the issue I was having with that anon is that they kept conflating characterization with agency because for the way all of the characters are actually written, Caroline or Jeremy or Jenna or Alaric or Enzo or Matt would not make better “less boring” protagonists because they are not active. Is there potential in having them as protagonists, yes, but there was potential in having Elena as a protagonist too. As I said, Bonnie is the one who actually goes through an active journey and has to save people and has to sacrifice and has to learn spells and battle ancient vampires so aligning with her would be radically different than aligning with Elena but not so much anyone else and as you said, we see that in seasons 6-8. Caroline’s storyline in season 6 doesn’t go anywhere. Her mother died but Stefan and her relationship to him is really what we focus on, like seriously, they make her confront him about their relationship at her mother’s funeral and then have her turn off her humanity because he wouldn’t tell her he likes her. How is that any better than season one? In season 7, she’s impregnated without her consent and knowledge and instead of focusing on how that would affect her, we focus on Ric’s feelings. She doesn’t drive plot, she reacts to story. Bonnie was stuck in a Prison World with two serial killers then she was stuck in it alone and became suicidal and then had to claw her way out of the world, that’s an active plot and she drove it.
Blog Post 2
When it comes to the movie Black Swan and American Psycho, Mental illness is a very prevalent theme in both films. Both movies give great insight towards how mental illness can suddenly creep up on you leaving you engulfed with emotions. One note that stands out for both movies is how the main characters don’t even realize they have a problem. Dealing with depression and anxiety myself, It took a very long time before I started to notice that I had an issue and an even longer time to try and reach out to someone for help. Now that may be clear for most people however the endings for these movies may be confusing so I will break the symbolism that I got from these movies.
Tumblr media
In Black Swan has a theme of setting problems aside. Nina throws any issue aside and just lets it build up. Nina’s Anxiety is symbolized by the black swan. Anytime she starts going through waves of anxiety she imagines herself turning into this black swan. She starts getting goosebumps and black feathers eventually as her anxiety worsens. When the feathers start emerging from Nina’s skin her immediate reaction is to start plucking. In the real world birds that are locked in cages with no stimulation have a habit of plucking feathers from stress or boredom. Therefore the plucking scene shows that audience that Nina is self harming when she gets these panic attacks.
Tumblr media
Nina has a habit of pushing her problems aside and this is affecting her mental state. For example her boss keeps sexually assaulting her. Yet she allows it to happen over and over for her to get the lead role. While rehearsing for the performance Nina sprains her ankle and cracks her toe nail yet pushes aside the pain and continues. These are things that build up over time and attribute to Nina’s increased anxiety toward performing the lead role. Nina lacks self confidence and this can be seen when she attempts to self pleasure herself yet is unable to.
Tumblr media
Now what does the ending mean? Before analyzing the ending of we need to look back at the events that lead to it. In the first act Nina accidentally falls on stage leading her to panic to her stage room once the scene is finally over. Over there she sees Odile Dressed up as the black swan offering to take Nina’s position. In a fit of panic Nina kills Odile and becomes the black swan. She returns to the stage with what seems like confidence as she grows feathers and even kisses her boss in front of everyone. What seems like an amazing stroke of self improvement. However Nina actually finally gave in to her mental illness. She is absolutely swarmed with terror in this scene yet Nina continues to push her emotions aside and keeps a blank face. Nina has been completely enveloped by her anxiety. She doesn’t come to realize that she has given in until she returns to her room to see Odile isn’t there. Odile is not the source of her illness, Nina herself is where all the problems lay and that is why she stabs herself. In the final moments of the last act Nina dies however she is happy. It may be confusing if this is a happy ending or not but this because there are two perspectives being shown. Nina sees herself being free of the torment of her illness, Yet everyone else is panicking because she is dying. This is a reflection of how mental illness can lead to suicide. Nina believes that this will bring an end to her torment; she sees this as something positive. However she is surrounded by friends, family and an audience that care about her well being. It isn’t until it’s too late for her to get help because Nina refused to reach out to anyone. At times suicide might seem like the only answer however we are surround by people who can help us. This is the message the director is trying to give.
Tumblr media
American Psycho is another movie with a bit of a confusing ending. The audience is left unclear on if Patrick is an actual psychopathic killer or if everything is all in his head. This is that actual struggle for those with schizophrenia. They often have hallucinations and struggle to tell what is real and what is made up. So the ambiguous ending reflects this. I really enjoyed American Psycho because it makes you want to watch the movie a second time to figure out what was real and what was an illusion. I have theorized that Patrick only thought himself to be a killer. Anytime he kills someone he is only fantasizing about killing. Patrick has obsessive personality disorder is the type to easily get made. The scene when Jules puts the spoon in the spoon on the table instead of the ice cream container really shows how easily Patrick can snap. The only change I would make in the ending of the movie is the scene when Jean finds Patrick’s journal. I would have added more scenes to show Patrick has a mental issue. For example, instead of just finding a journal, Jean also finds medication such as thorazine or prolixin. I would also bring back Paul Allen just to really confuse the audience. However overall this movie was insightful and yet entertaining. I am left wanting a true sequel to Patrick Bateman’s story. Unfortunately neither Black Swan or American Psycho. Although yes there is an American Psycho 2. I refuse to believe that movie is a true squeal, it was just slapped with that name just to bring an audience. I would definitely recommend these movies however I'd suggest also doing background research on mental illness prior to watching. I believe that would further help the viewer fully grasp the meaning behind either movie.
Can you be a hero? Lets find out
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about heroes is someone strong or flash with cool powers beyond our reality. Or maybe you think about soldiers in the government that fight wars doing things that many don’t have the stomach for. And by no means do I want to express, somehow, that soldiers are not heroes, because they are and I respect the things they have done to keep this country safe, but what does it mean to be a hero?
My answer can side with your opinions or maybe not. This post is merely my take on what a hero should have and why. These are my opinions and not everything present is the only qualification to being a hero, simply some I believe are needed. Although to be warned that I will be using various anime’s for reference so possible spoilers ahead!!!
1. Simply because
 My Hero Academia is a manga/anime that follows the story of protagonist Midoriya Izuku to become the best hero in the world. Born without powers, or “quirks” in this universe, Midoriya has a chance encounter with All Might, the #1 hero in the world, and later is given All Might’s quirk of incredible super strength that can change whether momentarily.
Facing many villains, Midoriya comes across a prominent hero killer: Stain. Stain kills heroes calling them all “fakes” and believing that All Might is the only worthy “true” villain. To Stain “fake” heroes are heroes who only became heroes for fame, fortune and other selfish reasons, not because they simply want to help and want nothing in return.
Stains ideology, that heroes should help for the good of their heart, is interesting because in a way is true. In spin-off series MHA: Vigilantes a hero from America named Captain Celebrity who favors attention and showing off instead of helping during crises. Take the manga panel below and how Captain Celebrity is waiting for cameras to appear before taking action to save lives. That type of thinking is what leads to bigger problems and higher rates in casualties; exactly the thing Stain hates within heroes.
Tumblr media
Same could be said for people who become heroes for the money. In the MHA universe the government mandates cash flow for heroes. Horikoshi, the creator, does not delve too much into how the payment is processed but the vague idea is that heroes are paid by how many villains they take down and what type of villain they take down. If that second factor is involved then heroes who aim for fortune are more inclined to take higher ranking villains than lower ranking villains or regular crimes.
Imagine this scenario: a girl is surrounded by shady people in a desolated area. Nobody is around to help however a hero just happens to be nearby and sees the situation. Heroes who are focused on money only will likely leave the scene or do a half-assed job because it doesn’t pay as much as higher ranking villains. If they do that they may turn a blind eye to other crimes or risk harming civilians for doing their job half as well.
That is the problem Stain sees with heroes who became heroes for other reasons than just because. Becoming a hero just because or simply doing it to help without wanting anything in return (like All Might and Midoriya) keeps them from being biased to any crime happening and helping everyone feel safe and feel that someone is looking out for them
(Although that isn’t to say heroes who do look for fortune are not entirely bad. Uraraka Ochako, a classmate of Midoriya, wants to be a hero for fortune because she wants to pay back her parents for everything. It’s a noble cause in whole especially when told that her parent’s construction company has left them nearly broke).
2. Kindness
Heroes have to be kind because they are celebrities. Just like the real world, fans of celebrities will follow them about anything: what they like, what they dislike, who is cool, who should be hated, etc. Because of this heroes need to express kindness as civilians, many who are learning children, watch them with wide eyes.
Take this at hand: if a hero were to be rude towards a certain group others are inclined to follow hating that group as well. If that group is hated they are isolated, isolation leads to various reactions one which is violence and crime rates increase.
In MHA: Vigilantes there is a group who have criminal backgrounds and one that looks very much like a criminal. The protagonist in that spin-off, Koichi, is kind towards them. His kindness is what ensures they don’t slip back to villainous ways and even helps them open a cafe where other people who appear “villainous” can go in without face of judgment. That act of kindness is a domino effect because that cafe is a safe space for people in that universe who are constantly judged for their quirk or their appearance. If they have a safe space with others who understand they are less inclined to commit crimes and thus reduce criminal rates.
See how kindness pays off in the long run? If heroes show kindness in their own way then others will follow suit and eventually small problems will be resolved without bloodshed or violent conflicts.
3. Strength
Heroes gotta be strong to lift people out of trouble like All Might did during his debut.
Tumblr media
Or be able to receive and throw back punches/hits. Though what exactly counts as strength? Plenty of things really but there are three that come to mind: physical, mental and emotional.
Physical strength is covered for and anyone with brains knows a hero has to have some strength to be a good hero. However mental strength is not as well covered yet as essential.
Mental strength can be defined as having that mental fortitude to bounce back from any situation no matter how dire. Mental strength can also be turning any bad situation into one that can help despite how many obstacles are directed towards you. Perhaps the best example of this is anime/manga Fullmetal Alchemist.
Fullmetal Alchemist is set in a universe where alchemy is an advanced natural technique revolved around equivalent exchange. The series itself follows the Elric brothers Edward (Ed) and Alphonse (Al) in their search for the all powerful Philosopher’s Stone to restore their bodies after failing to revive their dead mother via alchemy.
Both Edward and Al face many trails throughout their search that rely heavily on their mental strength. For example, when attempting to revive their dead mother Al, the younger brother, has his entire body taken away and lives solely because of a transmutation circle that was written in Al’s blood in a body of metal armor. Meanwhile Edward, the older brother, has his arm and leg taken away.
Tumblr media
Both boys are faced with deep despair. One lost his entire body while the other blames himself for initiating the foolish idea without knowing the full consequences. However, instead of wallowing in despair or doing nothing about it, Edward decides to search for all powerful Philosopher’s Stone that can cast any alchemy without consequences. That ability to bounce back after something heavily traumatizing, and the ability to still help others and keep people safe and put their own mission aside for others, is some next level mental strength.
*SPOILER COMING UP*
Other instances of these boy’s mental strengths are tested throughout the anime/manga. There was the time that the Elric Brothers were unable to save a little girl, Nina, in forcefully becoming a chimera by her own father and then later unable to save her from a brutal death.
Tumblr media
*SPOILER COMING UP*
There was the time Edward was impaled by a metal rod, yet despite bleeding out he moved to save two people who were his former enemy because they were in danger. Another time has Al choosing to give up his hold on the metal body in order to return Ed’s arm and leg to defeat the main villain. There are other instances with other characters in the anime that reveal how strong their mental strength is.
When it comes to mental strength a hero needs it because they need to keep bouncing back no matter what has happened. They cannot allow people to see them defeated or lose hope because if heroes lose hope the people will fall into despair and should they fall into despair society can be thrown into chaos. Not to mention, having the ability to keep level headed while in a stressful situation is a must for heroes otherwise they will be overwhelmed and effectively harmed or killed while in battle.
The final type of strength is emotion. Emotional strength is the ability to not allow emotions to control a hero’s decision. In some instance that rush of emotion can be useful; ie. Midoriya rushed in to save Bakugou from the sludge villain in MHA.
Tumblr media
However if one allows their emotions to control their actions then the feelings such as anger can lead to rash, unthought actions. Take Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan as an example of emotional strength. He would allow his anger to take action and go into a fight without planning ahead. There was a source I once read/heard (and sadly don’t remember where I read/heard it!!) that explained how Eren originally allowed his emotions to control his actions. He would go into fights without planning ahead or cooperating with others but as time went on Eren began cooperating with the people around him in order to effectively take out their enemy with minimal deaths.
One example of Eren allowing his emotions to interfere would be during a scouting mission that involved several soldiers with one squadron of soldiers protecting Eren, the target of the enemy. What occurs during this scouting mission, however, is everyone in that squadron is killed by the enemy, by a female titan. Eren has become familiar with that squadron and while they didn't know each for too long he still got attached. Seeing them die for his sake sends Eren into a rage and decides to fight the female titan instead of running away as instructed.
Tumblr media
What ensues from that emotional decision is Eren getting captured by the female titan and almost kidnapped. The only reason Eren has been saved was due to the best fighter arriving on time.
Emotions can be good in some instances, it can push a person past their limits giving them superhuman strength or reflexes, but they can equally harm a person by acting rashly based purely on rage or negativity.
4. Intelligence
 Being strong is not the only thing that makes a hero a hero. Being strong is half of the equation with intelligence being the fall component. If a hero relies only on strength then casualties are through the roof. Heroes need to make strategies, create plans with other heroes and figure out how a villain might move or what their power can be.
Although intelligence can also be used to weed out traitors. Erwin Smith, captain of the scouts in Attack on Titan, is an incredibly intelligent man that the anime gives little credit toward. Admittedly I had not known how intelligent Erwin was until coming across a reddit post  that I will be linking to. Though to sum up what the Reddit post stated one must know the basics of Attack on Titan.
In the Attack on Titan (AoT) universe, a small number of people live behind these walls to keep man eating titans away from them. One day the outer wall falls because a titan taller than ever recorded appears and a titan with armor crashes through the gates that ordinary titian’s cannot break through. Many people die by the protagonist Eren witnesses his mother being eaten by a titan and thus wants to become a Survey Corps soldier to kill titan and avenge his mother.
Tumblr media
What comes from this is Erwin believing there are spies within the soldiers of the enemy. Without any prior knowledge Erwin is able to weed out the soldiers to narrow down that the spy is in the Survey Corps, a team that not many soldiers want to join as death rates are the highest there. From there Erwin brings a new round of weeding out who he can trust and who he cannot (the Reddit post explains in detail how Erwin does this). The end regular is Erwin suspecting three members of the Survey Corps who, spoiler alert, are actually the spies.
Erwin deducting and weeding out the spies and the loyal soldiers takes a long process with many acts at play. In one instance Erwin takes away Eren, the target of the enemy, while calling a meeting for the Survey Corps new recruits. The meaning of that meeting was to see who would be there and who would not; if someone were missing then they are the spy because they went to find Eren, however if nobody is gone and no act to kidnap Eren is pulled then that solidifies that the spy is within their ranks. Another instance has Erwin doing background checks on everyone and discovering that three members were in the same town the same day the outer wall had been taken out.
If not for Erwin’s intelligence in believing there are spies and for finding out who it might be the possibility of Eren’s kidnapping would have been higher as well as a higher death rate.
5. Inspire Others
I wholeheartedly believe that heroes need to have the ability to inspire others. Consider this, in the real world after watching a video of people saving others from committing suicide or even starting traffic because a dog or other animal on the road inspires you right? It inspires you to want to do the same should the situation arise. I know I’m right, or close to it, because I feel the exact way.
Heroes that inspire civilians to be heroes can make society a whole lot better because little acts can make a world difference. In a way it trails back to kindness. If civilians are inspired by heroes to do good and such then they will extend a hand to those who feel awful and lift them back up into the light.
In MHA Midoriya Izuku inspires almost everyone he meets. Saving Bakugou from the sludge villain inspires All Might, #1 hero who is on a time limit for how long he can maintain his hero form, to go beyond his limit because he is inspired by Midoriya’s rush to save Bakugou despite having no quirk/power of his own.
Tumblr media
Midoriya inspires Todoroki Shouto, so of the #2 hero of Japan, to be a better version of himself after yelling that Todoroki’s other half of his quirk, his flames, is his own power and not his fathers. His father is not Todoroki and will never have control over Todoroki.
Tumblr media
Even Midoriya’s homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta (Pro hero Eraserhead), told another teacher of another school that his class is constantly being inspired by Midoriya as well as Bakugou.
Tumblr media
Inspiration even goes into AoT where Erwin gives a powerful speech to his soldiers inspiring them to ride out knowing fully well they are most likely going to die in the process.
“Everything that you thought had meaning: every hope, dream, or moment of happiness. None of it matters as you lie bleeding out on the battlefield. None of it changes what a speeding rock does to a body, we all die. But does that mean our lives are meaningless? Does that mean that there was no point in our being born? Would you say that of our slain comrades? What about their lives? Were they meaningless?... They were not! Their memory serves as an example to us all! The courageous fallen! The anguished fallen! Their lives have meaning because we the living refuse to forget them! And as we ride to certain death, we trust our successors to do the same for us! Because my soldiers do not buckle or yield when faced with the cruelty of this world! My soldiers push forward! My soldiers scream out! My soldiers RAAAAAGE!” -Erwin Smith’s charge speech
Inspiration is a cornerstone for heroics that anyone can do and anyone can act on. It can inspire someone to be nice towards kids who are alone as well as inspire others to extend a hand to those who are feeling down. It may be small, perhaps insignificant with how small it is, but the end result can go a long way including continuing to go on past the person of inspiration.
Conclusion:
Everything presented of what are qualifications needed to be a hero are not everything that is needed but things I believe are of the most importance. There are several other things that are needed to make a hero aside from what I presented. One big take away I want anyone reading this is that you can be a hero too. You may not have super powers like you’ve seen or read about but a hero can be someone picking up trash or helping the homeless by giving them food. Aside from MHA the other anime/manga references used have protagonist that are never called heroes yet they can be considered ones. Me pointing that out is to prove that you can be a hero despite never being called one. As long as you do actions for the good of others then you already are a hero.
Ending and Thoughts: Forensic Heroes 4
TVB’s grand production drama. Where it has a high budget with a stellar cast, also filmed overseas and use of popular actors & actresses in cameo case roles. Unfortunately TVB decided to air it early in February which is far from the “golden time” to air series. I’m not that surprised with the situation. But I’m sure the biggest reason is cause half of the cast aren’t people TVB wants to promote anymore. Selena Li - Contract ended and signed with an American talent agency. Raymond Wong - Contract ended signed with Louis Koo’s company. Alice Chan- Decided to take a break on filming to focus more on personal life. Rebecca Zhu- Got backlashed from voicing out how uncomfortable she is around Tony Hung. Second reason would be the producer Miu Si Chun has retired and this will be her last series. But airing it so early actually backfired for them as this was aired during the covid- 19 situation where basically everyone stayed home. Because of this thousands of people tuned into this drama. It got super high ratings and has the highest average watchers for a drama that TVB has not seen in years!! So their plan to air it early backfired so badly for them.
Honestly, this drama wasn’t that good. The cases were either boring or predictable. The only case that kept me on my feet was the mother- long lost son case. Other than that the cases were bad. Which sucked cause these cases had so much potential to do better but the writing sucked! I can’t explain how disappointed I am that the cases were so easy for us to guess who did it. And some guest stars were wasted on this drama. Yumiko Cheng, Sharon Chan, Nina Paw and Patrick Tse are some examples of useless characters that didn’t need to be there. Also the character development was so poorly done that I’m just stuck here wondering if the cutting of Jacqueline Wong effected the drama so much that it ended up being choppy!
Charm Ting (Fred Cheng) is considered a main character but he seemed more like a kelefe. Which is hilarious cause in the first Forensic Heroes he had a bigger role there than here. He’s literally in the background where he would say 1 or 2 lines and then disappears. He was there just to be a love interest to Ko Ching (Rebecca Zhu) which was pointless cause her role is super small as well. We don’t even know when they even started dating. They were barely seen together. Charm has admitted to having a crush on Ko Ching but that’s it. Ko Ching never seemed interested in him until the end where they’re magically dating. The writer focused way too much on adding nonsensical characters when they should be focusing on the main ones! Monique Hau (Yumiko Cheng) isn’t needed at all. I thought maybe half way through she would die or she kills someone but no she was just there to date Ko On (Raymong Wong) and then dumps him when her first love comes back. Like why? Why bother inviting Yumiko for such a stupid role? Instead of Ko On wasting his time for this stand in girlfriend they should’ve focused more on her budding relationship with Chris Tsui (Roxanne Tong). Cause when he got together with her in the end it made no sense whatsoever. I actually thought I missed an episode because of how random it was. The last we saw is Chris tracking Ko Ons biological sister. They were friends at that time and remained that way until the end where somehow Chris fell for Ko On despite never showing that and vice versa. Like I’m not even sure which relationship was more out of the blue? Charm/ Ko Ching or Ko On/Chris? The only relationship that’s worth getting invested in is between Man Ka Hei (Selena Li) and Stan Sze (Gabriel Harrison). Seriously they were the only couple that actually slowly built up towards being something more and they had crazy good chemistry together which you can’t see from any of the other couples at all! Which brings me to Queen Sui (Alice Chan) and King Kwok (Shaun Tam). Boy their chemistry was the worst!! You feel absolutely nothing for them. It was like watching two blocks of wood dating. And the best part? These two who had the worst chemistry ends up the one getting married! Wooooooow. I feel like the problem though lies on the actress Alice. She’s a good actress, she’s amazing when it comes to villain roles but when it comes to love relationships she fails at it. It might have to do with how her real life relationship didn’t work out. She mentioned that she was in a loveless relationship with her husband. But they were both were too scared to leave each other and cause of that they prolonged a relationship that never got better. So I’m convinced it’s due to this,that it’s harder for her to portray these romance scenes.
The uneven screentime between the leads got me thinking of how detrimental the refilming of Jacqueline was. Chris ends up getting involved with the forensic cast in the first place cause she rented a room from King Sir. In that apartment she also shares it with Charm. I’m like 99% sure they cut out those “roommate” scenes, which you’d think “eh it’s filler scenes, it doesn’t matter”. But it’s cause they cut those, Fred ends up getting heavily downgraded! Also if they were just gonna have Chris basically not interact with the forensic team, they shouldn’t have bothered to have her move into their apartment then. Cause it didn’t advance the plot and was just a waste of time. Chris was a heavy character in the beginning but then disappeared drastically until near the end. The storyline started off amazingly good too! Chris was the reason why Ko On’s sister Ko Seen (Kelly Cheung) ended up getting kidnapped. It’s cause of this she becomes a journalist to find Ko On and Ko Seen. She was extremely remorseful and worked hard to find Ko Seen. Which is why I was pissed when after she was found, Chris never met her. They never interacted. A scene where Chris apologizes to her face to face would’ve been super nice. I can’t help but also believe that chances are it was in the script but they couldn’t have Roxanne film it with Kelly probably due to scheduling conflicts.
The ending case should be the best one. The one where it’ll keep us on our toes. It didn’t and was also a downer. Sharon Chan who guest stars as Lam Ka Mei was also a waste of a role. Though Sharon did amazing playing a split personality character, it never went into depth how it happened. Generally, this disorder happens if the character herself experiences a high trauma where they go into hiding and another “stronger” person comes out. This case was also the first time where Ka Mei “killed”. I’m assuming this disorder happened due to her older sisters death? The problem lies on how her sister died 7-8 years ago, yet this is the first time her other side came out and also the first time she killed. According to Ka Mei herself, this was the first time she felt something was wrong with her. After all these years her disorder comes out now? Okay. Anyways she gets locked up in a mental hospital cause she did kill someone even if she’s just a copy cat killer.
The real criminal ended up being Michael Ma (Jonathon Cheung) who happens to be Ko Seens adoptive brother. Basically he went on a killing rampage to kill those that hurt her sister. This was such a boring revelation. I thought they were gonna throw in a twist where Ko Seen was the actual killer and Michael took the blame for her. Ko Seen uses Ko Ons guilt to her advantage and tricks him into believing she’s innocent. Ko Seen would’ve made an amazing villain. She could’ve held all the resentment towards everyone from what happened to her. In the end she did get kidnapped cause her brother let go of her, she got sold off to random people before finally getting “rescued” and being placed in an orphanage. What should’ve happened in the end would be Ko Seen faking her amnesia towards her brother and sister and killing those that mistreat her. In the end she plots to kill Chris as she’s the one that lured her away to get kidnapped. As she kills Chris, Ko On shows up to save her (which would’ve helped with the relationship development) and for Ko On to finally see that Ko Seen is a bad person. That would’ve been more of a stellar ending to the case. Now I know that at the very last scene it shows 4 dead clowns & flashes to Ko Seen. Which alludes to Ko Seen being evil and killing clowns. But honestly that’s not enough. And I’m pretty sure they only added that in cause of the good ratings so they wanted it to end in sort of a cliffhanger. The conclusion was very messy. Even though Ko Ching, Chris, Ka Hei, Queen were all trying on dresses for Queens wedding they didn’t show them all together. Instead they only showed them paired off together. Chris with Ko On. Queen with King. Ka Hei with Stan and Ko Ching with Charm. I’m guessing they couldn’t get the whole cast together for them to film them altogether. Which I didn’t like. Chris is never with all of them at the same time. I guess with the refilming of the scenes it caused the drama to have inconsistencies and it hurt the drama if you ask me. At least Roxanne was an amazing replacement for Jacqueline. Her acting good and she looked very pretty. And her emotional scenes were nice which is something Jacqueline has trouble with. The drama is nice to watch to pass the time with I guess... but that’s it don’t expect to be surprised. And hey Ka Hei and Stan were a lovely couple! So they got one couple right at least.
How much I think the pastas make and what do they spend money on (also this is based on my AU I made)
Jeff the killer: makes the most money out of all of them (except for the proxies) sense he was slenderman's first killer apprentice. Jeff has good stealth and very agile with the knife and really strong. Though him earning more and being good at his job has made him kinda cocky and a bit narcissistic. The only thing thing he still struggles with at his job is controlling himself and sticking to being stealthy sense he's used to savagely attacking his victims and making a huge mess (slenderman doesn't really mind the mess but he doesn't like when he loses control of himself sense it usually draws attention to Jeff or others that are on the mission with him and police come). As to how much money he makes a year he makes around 110K. He's makes good money but he doesn't "look" wealthy sense he doesn't like fancy stuff like designer clothes or go out to eat at 5 star restaurants. He prefers to save his money sense he doesn't use much sense he literally just wears jeans and hoodies.
Jane: makes around 75K sense she doesn't really kill like the others. She just kills only when it's necessary and when they need backup. She isn't dedicated much sense her goal used to be to get revenge on Jeff but it pretty much failed sense no one can kill or hurt anyone that lives in the mansion. She saves up her money that she earns and she's pretty fancy so she sometimes buys designer clothes and buys cosmetics usually (especially spends on makeup like jeffree star)
Ben drowned: makes 80K a year. He dedicates to hacking and online stalk future victims or any zalgo enemies. He would probably make way more if he decided to become a full time proxy like masky and hoodie but he's kinda lazy to work all the time. His money doesn't last him much sense he's always spending his money on merch, anime figures, and video games.
Nina the killer: she makes around 80K sense she does enjoy killing and will kill anyone just for fun (just like Jeff). She would make way more if she actually stuck to plans and was more professional at her job sense, just like Jeff, she loses control and attacks randomly (let's say masky and hoodie has to bail her out of jail many times). She loooves to spend money on clothes, makeup, accessories, etc though she ends up being broke for all the excessive shopping (though sometimes she wants to save money to buy a Luis Vuitton bag)
Ticci toby: earn 130k a year. Even if he is considered "immature" or "irresponsible" at his job, he is actually really good at his job. Ever sense slenderman helped him with his ticking and his mental disorders, he has had more control over what he does and how he does it. Also let's say his numbness to pain helps him last longer when it comes to fights with zalgo minions and fesity victims. He saves his money sense he doesn't really have anything to spend on except for the occasional prop or material he'll need to prank or mess with masky
Hoodie: makes 150k a year. He's had a lot of experience and is great at stealth, clean with his kills, quick, and great and getting rid of evidence. He saves up money sense he doesn't spend on much besides on beer
Masky: he makes the most out of any proxy due to working with slender for many years and being good at his job sense he has good knowledge on stealth, manipulation, getting rid of evidence, and actually knows a lot about hacking like Ben (he makes 250k) but he doesn't keep much of it sense he asked slenderman for a money loan years ago and still isn't done paying him. (he refuses to tell anyone how much he asked for and on what the money was used),so he's usually broke and can't spend on much and if he does spend money on something, he looks for the best deals
Sherry: 90k a year. Usually new proxies make a bit less due to not having many years of experience but what helped her earn more was her forensic science knowledge and psychology (it came useful when interrogating zalgo minions or victims) , which was very useful for cleaning evidence after a kill. She usually saves up her money but she sometimes buys games and consoles like Ben sense she always wanted a PS4 and Nintendo switch when she was little. So basically anything that she wasn't able to have as a kid, she buys it now.
Eyeless jack: he earns around 300k a year but not for working for slenderman, but by selling organs on the black market. He only stays at the mansion sense he also has knowledge about biology and forensic sciences like sherry, so he helps them from time to time. He saves up money sense he doesn't have anything to spend on sense he doesn't even need to buy food sense he's a cannibal.
Laughing jack: doesn't have much of a stable income. He's unemployed and sometimes earns money if he catches a temporary job. He stays at a shitty apartment with will Grossman sense he literally can't afford anything better. When he does have money he pays his half of the rent and the rest usually goes to food or beer.
Clockwork: 80K a year. She's good at her job sense she has good stealth and is actually very patient when it comes to victims, she leaves a huge mess though, and buts it's not much of a problem sense the proxies usually take care of that. Probably the only thing she spends on is weapons sense she likes to experiment sometimes.
Amelie: she makes 95K a year. She makes a bit more than usual for a Starting proxy sense she has knowledge on killing (she learned from her family sense they were a mafia family) and knew how kill, get rid of evidence, and stalk people. She is a big spender sense her clothing is pretty much all designer made and likes to go on frequent shopping sprees like Nina. Also her brother and father are millionaires , so even if she earned less, her dad and brother would literally buy her anything she wanted.
Will grossman: doesn't have a stable income either. He's unemployed and just like LJ, he sometimes gets money for temporary jobs. When he does have money he pays his part of rent and the rest goes towards food, video games, and beer.
Amari: 65k a year. She knows a lot about stalking, getting rid of evidence, and has a good physical form and endurance but she doesn't earn much still sense she hasn't gone to any proper missions with the proxies sense she is a student at the institution (goes to the same school as will). They still pay her though because even though she hasn't been in many missions, she still helps them in things like cleaning the area and stalking victims. She is studying to become an official slender proxy though. She spends her money on rent (decided to live with will and LJ so rent wouldn't be too expensive and also to hide that she was a slender proxy apprentice and not draw attention to zalgo or his minions) and buys groceries to actually make proper food for will and LJ and herself (basically being the mom of the group). She doesn't mind how much money she earns at the moment sense she came from a wealthy family and inherited a good amount of money)
Damien: is literally a millionaire. After he died and got to the underworld, he started his own weapon and drug business which actually became really successful. He can spend all the money he wants.
