I’m the missing namjoon anon from the other day, and I can’t believe since then we got a collab and the rpwp documentary announcement!! And of course joon had to go to the next level and got it to premiere at busan international film festival!

I just love all the moves he made for himself in chapter two but honestly, I have no idea how he goes back to the group after this. Going from putting out a ton of work that received insane critical acclaim to going back to being in the background of the group, singing something for 10 seconds, doing English songs. Would it be bad if I say I would prefer him to remain doing his thing solo?

Personally no, since I feel the same way. Then again I initially thought he was a solo artist when I got into him, it was just a fun surprise to later learn he was in a group. But the fun ended after I got into their discography and as I continued to listen through their eras he became less and less heard and so I became less and less interested, and that's kind of where I've been. I significantly prefer the rap line's solo music to BTS' music and that's been the case since like, at least 2020. And that's being generous 'cause all of my favorite songs were released during and before 2017...(back when their music was written more by the rap line who could have guessed lol)

Frankly, I dunno, and we'll never know. Chalk it up to fame and wealth and their connection that keeps BTS together at this point 'cause as artists they can not be any more different now. The gap is so massive in BTS' songs for who gets how many lines it makes no sense anymore why the rap line even show up other than to write the songs in the first place. Not even Namjoon's position as leader matters anymore, like sure he's still the most fluent in English to help them navigate interviews when a translator isn't provided but like, k-pop has become so mainstream there's no longer any good reason to NOT have a translator involved. Plus the other members have become more fluent so they can manage themselves more during future interviews, at the very least they should. So it no longer matters if he's the figurehead of the group in that aspect, nor does he even enjoy it, he said that in their last FESTA together, that he feels guilty talking over them, he does not like speaking for them.

I'll continue to enjoy everything that's left of RPWP and all of Namjoon's side projects while he was on his own and wait with tempered expectations for what's to come in 2025. But even if what the group puts out isn't a return to a form I enjoy (which is literally just more than 10 seconds of the rap line EACH, like the bar is so fucking low), I know at least I'll still get more music from the rap line eventually.
