honestly i think a very annoying part about the AI art boom is that techbros are out here going BEHOLD, IT CAN DO A REASONABLE FACSIMILE OF GIRL WITH BIG BOOBA, THE PINNACLE OF ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENT and its like

no it’s fucking not! That AI wants to do melty nightmare fractal vomit so fucking bad and you are shackling it to a post and force-feeding it the labor of hard-working artists when you could literally pay someone to draw you artisanal hand-crafted girls with big boobs to your exact specifications and let your weird algorithms make art that can be reasonably used to represent horrors beyond human comprehension

#like AI art generation is inherently unethical because nobody will be transparent about sources #and AI art cannot exist without human input both at a concept level (because it needs art to train on) and at an output level #but like also COME ON #THIS IS ALL YOU CAN COME UP WITH??#WEIRD LANDSCAPES AND GIRLS WITH TITS?#to clarify bc jesus christ this post took off: AI art gen as it is now is inherently unethical as long as it relies #on scraping unedited human art into its mouth and using it for training #there are ethical ways to do it and it is essentially just a tool #people are just greedy and dumb

Honestly if you're looking at Doctor Who (2005) as a piece of fiction with, you know, themes and intent, it's really necessary to engage with it as actual queer media. At least a little. I think it's status as a fandom show from the mid 2000s means people are quick to dismiss this as some sort of transformative read rather than something that actually informs the storytelling and characters, but it can not be understated how it's fundamentally part of the same body of work as Cucumber and It's a Sin and Queer as Folk

my sister and I both agree that one of the best parts about china was how there's food everywhere. And not just, like, bags of chips, but real hot, cooked, tasty food. You hike to the top of a mountain and there's a guy with a cart selling chicken skewers and freshly steamed corn on the cob. When you hike to the top of a mountain in america, what do you get? Nothing. An uninterrupted view of nature. Where did we go wrong as a country

The small village of Lytton in British Columbia hit the global media when it smashed Canada's highest temperature ever recorded in June 2021, at 49.6 degrees centigrade. Two days later, the entire village had burned to the ground. In the ashes of their homes, this cohesive but diverse community which includes a majority of First Nations residents had to confront the realities of climate displacement by being relocated away from their ancestral lands. #in my true elysium slash disco detective universe forever #i have talked about this already but its funny that this quote was marty's breaking point. who has not felt about their hometown like this?#rust does not know this city well however which makes the feeling different but somehow still universal to the experience of growing up #in places that have to change to survive (be it bc of its economy or bc its simply outdated)#but the town in TT s1 appears to be decaying. at least to rust #imo one of the best shots and most defining of the show is that of the church abandoned and left to rot in nature with the factories #in the background. past and progress shown in one shot you know #but with the eps passing i would say that it is the people and their humanity that is decaying instead of the town #after all the town seems quite alright in terms of infrastructures #but the description of it as a jungle really does fit very well #both with the landscapes shown and the animals (men) lurking where you least expect them #true detective #rust cohle #marty hart #mine
