i don't think i have the text space to go off on this drink on twitter but i'm free here so anyway this drink fucking sucks. for non canadians Loblaws is a big supermarket chain where you can buy some ready-made food like sushi and okonomiyaki that i'm quite certain gave me food poisoning. apparently you can also get bubble tea.
ok so the drink. i live in an area with a lot of east asian stores and restaurants. i've been drinking bubble tea since i was a kid. the better ones tend to be made with fresh fruit (if you picked a fruit flavour), the mediocre are made with flavoured powder. this Loblaws drink is made with artificial strawberry powder that has a taste i can only describe as "off-puttingly medicinal". it's not even that bad, and it does taste more or less like strawberry, but it's not good either.
i don't think that's the end of the world. what is the end of the world is whatever the fuck they did with the tapioca. if you've never had bubble tea, just imagine an iced milk tea or fruit milkshake but at the bottom you've got these sweet, chewy balls of tapioca. they're more squishy on the outermost layer and a bit firmer inside. they are a ball. spherical. orb-shaped. round. pretty smooth, like if jelly was more chewy and sticky.
the tapioca in this drink wasn't even ball-shaped. it was a weird hard lump, kinda rubbery, disconcertingly firm yet kinda crumbly. it was at least sweet, which is probably the only similarity it has to pearls you'll get in a normal drink (even a mid drink)
i don't think it's weird that a grocery chain that has earned the people's ire for reasons beyond the food would put out a frankly horrendous artificial drink like this but holy shit it was just such a miserable experience even sipping a little bit of it. i wasn't expecting greatness and i was still let down. i'm kind of in awe at how wrong things went here. how did this happen? who let this happen? is this solely a product of too many cut corners? i know it's possible to make cheap bubble tea with artificial flavours that's still drinkable! i grew up having drank plenty of them! what the fuck!!! what the fuck!!!!!

Do you like non alcoholic and/or sweet beers? I'm personally a big fan of fruit flavored 0% ones that basically taste like soda or lemonade, but still have that little tasty tinge of hops.
i'm sure you mean well, but i usually stick to the hard stuff. it's a miracle that i haven't died from liver poisoning yet.

which flavors do you recommend? maybe i should give it a shot. i'm trying to cut back on the alcohol anyway...

With "uncle" Vaea being invited to many Ward-Kutcher gatherings, it was a matter of time until Amy joined in. Her connection with River was instantaneous. Just two friends, enjoying each other's company... for now.

Day 177: Lightly Flavored Zero Calorie Carbonated Water Gets Me Off
Personally, I'm a flavored seltzer enjoyer. That actually gave me a bit of trouble getting immersed into this tingler at first. You see, the most fervent seltzer haters I've met have always been people who like sweet soda. I had trouble imagining the person who is addicted to cola, but easily switches to seltzer over tap water.
Then I remembered that this story is going to introduce a sentient aluminum can later on and I chilled out a bit over the realism factor. We're living in a fantasy world where people are all nuts for flavored seltzer instead of it being a very divisive thing. And, hey, as someone who enjoys it, I like spending a moment in that world where nobody is cracking jokes about my delicious sort-of-grapefruit-flavored water. And, hell, the method of obtaining it makes this world seem all the better on top of that!

Things I expected on T: cystic acne on the face, increased libido, better muscle retention maybe some taste changes here and there
What I Did Not expect on T:
-acne not on the face but instead in the weirdest spots imaginable
-horniness as a permanent debuff, not an occasional status ailment
-Super sweet things now taste Awful. beer is a godsend though and must be had with every dinner for maximum enjoyment
-If I Do Not Go On A Daily Walk I Go Insane

I think I may have gotten sober? So I recently gave up alcohol for my first ever Lent (despite being raised in the church I didn't realize it was 40 days, fml) and somehow I did not immediately yeet myself off the sobriety wagon when it ended. My brother actually sent an extra beer home with me on Easter Sunday and I was mostly unimpressed with the brain muddle that resulted from drinking it. I thought that experience might be an anomaly but I ended up so stressed out over spreading myself too thin this weekend that I resorted to getting some very weak beer (2%) to try to power myself through editing a friend's story-
And I hated the feeling of drinking it. Maybe it's a coincidence but I am very fucking weird after being tipsy on Friday, like crawling out of my skin anxious and exhausted right now. Fortunately I have therapy on Tuesday to hopefully sort the feelings out, I won't be able to afford it soon but I would say that three months of venting two decades of mental health issues has possible decreased the urge to numb.

He smelled at one of the bottles of stuff crowded around the sink, a curious whiff into a man he was still getting to know. The reaction hit him fast. His stomach rolled over and panic flapped at the base of his skull, and he shoved the bottles away and into a drawer before he could question it. His dad had gotten mad a few times after practice. He'd gotten close to Jamie's face more than once, shouting about a pass he missed or something he hadn't notice or hadn't done correctly, and he smelled like these bottles layered with something else. Something sharp and claggy but always present, so close that Jamie swore it lingered under the fading steam of the bathroom.
