Hey, that’s no way to say goodbye
Tumblr media
ahahahaha -trails off into weak sobbing-
...so many questions unanswered...
I’m liveblogging The Winchesters as a Supernatural!virgin. Please keep my lack of knowledge in mind if you continue...
In episode thoughts:
Uniform John?
I feel so sorry for people who work in train or bus stations and have to deal with people having crises. Especially back in the 70s. This woman looks very empathetic, but I so do not envy her the amount of people she would need to have to listen to give her their various sob stories.
Oh, hey Dean. You look like a lighthouse keeper.
How DID Dean get that letter?
I don’t know who this guy is. Is this Bobby that I’ve heard about? He seems cool.
Mary, Samuel, sweethearts, can we not talk about work? Or John? Can we just… talk about Mary’s future alone?
I don’t mind Millie talking to John about Mary, because she is kind of the only healthy reason he’s in the game, but seriously, Samuel, your daughter is walking a dangerous tightrope and so are you. Do some work on it, please.
Of course Carlos is into Dean. He doesn’t seem his type though, just as a side bar. Go see Anton, babe.
Okay, FINALLY, we have an explanation for why the akrida give a damn about Dean. I’m not sure I buy that he’s ‘not of this earth’ though. I mean, he was human, right? I don’t care if he’s dead or time travelling or whatever, he’s still ‘of earth’, right? Did something happen to him in show to make him more demon or angel or something?
Why did the Queen phrase this exposition dump the way she did? Why doesn’t she want Hunters to die? What’s her actual deal? What does she want?
Lata, why did you do that? You’re supposed to be a pacifist. I appreciate fighting back when you’re in a corner, but you were hidden. You should have stayed hidden.
Okay, pause. I have to work this through in my head.
So the akrida queen is actually just a human hunter drunk on monster ‘essence’ who is drunk enough to think that the actual solution to the problem is just wiping out everyone she was trying to protect. I can run a wonderful university without all these damn students running around.
I… feel like… I don’t dislike this twist, but I wish it had been seeded earlier. And once again, it very much feels like it’s talking to Supernatural’s audience more than me. This feels pointed in a way this show alone hasn’t earned.
I think I’ll come back to this in my final notes.
Lata, I don’t like the sudden violent turn, I’m sorry. I wanted you to be vulnerable and strong.
John, your eyeshadow, my BOY.
Please don’t burn down the clubhouse, I like it.
Oh good.
…the queen instituted religion on a plague species? I am… what? I’m so confused, I don’t think I was paying enough attention.
This scene between John and Mary would be really good if they’d earned it. But we haven’t seen Mary do anything Carlos hasn’t, and John hasn’t shown any actual respect for Mary, so this actually just feels like him telling her to stay behind so he can be the hero. Yes, I know that sounds salty of me, but mmph.
The scene between the queen and the boys is good though. Each of those exchanges were earned.
…okay, so I know the fans love the car, but uh… wow. Just… just wow.
That – that was a scene, friends.
Um. Car go portal?
I know we’ve still got a bunch of episode left, but that felt quite anti-climactic.
Oh, here we go. Something happened just now, I think.
Oh, Dean, stop being dramatic revving that engine.
Okay, we’re clearly missing some story. Flashback, please.
Dean, this is not a flashback. This is exposition to explain any issues Supernatural fans have with your show.
What song? Wayward Son, I’m guessing? I should listen to that one day.
What yellow-eyed demon?
Who the hell is James Hetfield?
THIS DID NOT END ANYTHING, MY FRIENDS.
SAMUEL! Good boy, Samuel, saying you love her. Well done.
So, is John also giving up hunting for a while? They both need to split up and go away from hunting and figure themselves out for a –
Oh goddamn it, Mary
I accept that the show needed this ending, but I
DID
NOT.
Okay, so this episode was not written for me.
This episode wasn’t written for newcomers, this episode was a direct response to the Supernatural show itself, and the fact that it was the final episode kind of proves that this show—The Winchesters—is not a spin-off so much as a sequel or coda. Which is fine. I think everyone who watched it knew that was what it was, and didn’t expect anything else from it. This was a series for the fans who didn’t like how Supernatural went or ended or… whatever. And I know the ones on Tumblr were at least very vocal about that, so that’s actually kind of awesome for them. I hope they’re happy with what they got.
I, as someone who has not watched Supernatural, mostly walked away… confused? Disappointed. Confused.
I know I ranted a lot, I got very angry, and even turned into one of those people I hate to see online who just throw vitriol into the universe. I’m sorry. I became the monster, I appreciate that.
So in a way, this episode has in fact brought me a lot of peace, because it reminds me that this series was never intended for me, and it was never speaking to me, so I was in fact inserting myself in a conversation I was never welcome in. So I never had the context, the show was never operating in the vacuum I was watching it in, so I can only assume I was judging everything unfairly.
Okay, you know what? This reflection got LONG. Separate post.

thinking about the uchiha and the senju *not* being on equal footing for once. Indra, when chasing power, became the Daimyo of Fire instead of squabbling with his Father and Brother. His relation to the Emperor (his grandfather) ensuring the line. So hundreds of years later, the Uchiha are the ruling family of fire- over civilians and shinobi alike. They rarely, if ever, actually *serve* as shinobi, but they maintain their abilities to the highest degree possible because it's part of how they keep an iron grip on all the shinobi clans who serve under them. (The sharingan is as respected as ever, but now with the 'divine right to rule' implications tied into it's manifestation.)
Tajima is the current head, but he's coming close to retiring and having Madara take over. Izuna's been raised as Madara's advisor; assassinations are still a concern but heirs dying is much less common. They'd never put the main family into danger, so all of their siblings are still alive, but they all got married off at young ages to secure alliances. (Even before they got married off, they were raised with the mindset that they'd be bargaining tools, and so Izuna and Madara were raised separately to keep them from getting attached).
The Senju aren't a noble clan, and aren't even aware of their connection to the historical line of power. But the Uchiha are aware of it, and thus start to pay extra attention when Hashirama marries Mito. Uniting clans...it could be nothing, but it could also be a sign he intends to usurp. They're careful about that sort of thing.
Izuna presses the advantage this gives them. The Senju will have to give in to any demands they make that aren't *too* outrageous, and there's been whispering about Hashirama's brother being a genius inventor. Madara asks for Tobirama's service to their family, separating the Senju from a very useful tool if they are planning a coup and gaining the Uchiha a very major boon if there's no coup in place.
Tobirama arrives, blandly polite, covered in dirt from the road, and the presumption is that he'll get swirled away into court life. He'll either prove foolish and end up dead sooner than later, or prove clever and thus useful. In which case Izuna will keep him in mind if he ever needs something invented, or investigated, or otherwise prodded with a stick. One day the Senju's power will fade- they'll make a political misstep, lose an heir, Hashirama will turn into a tree. Then Tobirama will get returned, with the expectation to politely acquis to any requests the Uchiha make for the rest of his life.
Izuna gets attached instead. Tobirama's extremely compelling to him for all their similarities and differences. The man is a younger brother devoted to his elder; Izuna cares for his brother by handling the tricky court manipulations that elude soft-hearted Madara. Tobirama seems serve his brother by being the harsh one, the firm one, the threatening one. He's ill-suited for court. He lacks any skill at manipulation but is very adapt at biting insults, which is a terrible combination and also very funny for Izuna to watch. Izuna was raised from a young age to be careful about assassinations; Tobirama was raised from a young age to commit them.
Tobirama doesn't know how easily their positions could be reversed, if their ancestors had made different decisions, but Izuna does. He takes a very mean delight in that- especially because he fully believes the Uchiha deserve their place. They *were* the better bloodline, the divine right to rule was indeed always meant to be theirs, and it really only could be fate that a Senju would end up serving the Uchiha. It's a joke that Tobirama can never know, and his ignorance makes it funnier.

These were the concept pages I drew for my original writer in the @vashwoodbigbang event! Unfortunately they have disappeared on me 😅 and also bc god hates me I guess, the day I was supposed to post these, yesterday, saw me dealing with first a wifi outage and then a whole electricity outage so. That was fun lmao
Details about the drawings below since. I don't know if my writer will ever post the story, unfortunately 😔
So this was originally coined as a stardust au! I believe it was primarily based on the movie that came out in the 2000s (?), though I believe my writer was familiar with both the movie and the book it was based on. Honestly, it doesn't pull much at all from the story itself, just the general concepts of stars.
In this version, Vash is a star, and he decides to try and find his long-lost siblings (Knives and Tessla). In his search, he comes across a planet he hasn't visited before, and while he's descending to it, he's shot down by something mysterious that causes him rather permanent injury (not new; I believe he'd already lost his arm previously and he has all his scarring from travels to previous planets, this specific technology is just new to him).
He manages to crawl some distance from the resulting crater and is rescued by the odd pair of anthropologist Milly and journalist Meryl, who are tracking fallen stars on their planet in order to research them. Vash is horrified to learn that stars on this planet are rather brutally searched for and used for their power, so he tries his best to keep his real identity as a star secret.
In the next town, he learns about Star Cultists, who are the leading experts on stars. Our dear Wolfwood is one of them, and though he's a priest under the head of Chapel, he seems pretty jaded about the whole thing. He also spends some time poking fun at their visitor Vash when he stumbles on the doorstep of the church.
Unbeknownst to all, Chapel is the one who shot Vash down, and he suspects Vash is his target. When Vash, Milly, and Meryl skip town, Wolfwood is ordered to tag along with them against his will, and he begrudgingly forces himself into the group with his usual grace lol.
Through some shenanigans, including an interesting fight with Livio/Razlo who is a martyr (a human who ate at least part of a star and became consumed by it), the group all grows closer to each other. Naturally, Wolfwood and Vash hit it off with their usual ideology clashing and homoerotic team fighting. The tension comes to a head when both of the boys are drunk and attempting to stumble somewhere after getting kicked out of the bar, and with the help of liquid courage, Wolfwood admits to Vash that he's what's known as a "Star Eater:" a human that has consumed part of a star, and by some genetic luck, isn't consumed by it and instead gains some superhuman abilities so long as the magical tattoo (i forget what it's called off the top of my head fuck) that forms around the presenting star isn't broken.
Vash is understandably horrified. Wolfwood is confused by Vash's rejection bc he isn't aware Vash is a star; he's under the impression Vash is just some very talented guy Chapel really wants to feed a star shard in the hopes he becomes part of their superhuman cult.
Vash sobers up and manages to drag a very drunk and eepy Wolfwood to their hotel.
The next day is the turning point; the star cultists, including Chapel, catch up to them and confront Vash. Wolfwood has to learn very quickly that he'd been Wrong and Vash, in his panic, flies to where it feels most safe; the city's Star (storage area?? Idk). He ends up cornered there and, in his panic, accidentally goes nuclear trying to escape and blows up half the city in a column of flame. While he's barreling across the desert in an attempt to get away, he's trapped by a net the star cultists set up, made of the same shit used to shoot him down at the start, and he can't escape it on his own.
Luckily he's found by Wolfwood first, who's decided he owes it to Vash to try and fix his fuck up, and using his superhuman healing, he manages to free Vash. Both are exhausted and ultimately rescued by LR, who's been tailing them.
Tbh my memory's kinda foggy... my writer only managed to share up to that first LR fight, so I don't remember exactly what's supposed to happen between here and the fight at the orphanage?? I remember Vash somehow finds out what happened to his siblings (a hella long time ago, Tessla was consumed by the people of the planet and Knives, in his rage, fuckin just annihilated everything, turning it into a desert planet, and has been laying dormant for the most part since then) and also we learn that martyrs gain better control of themselves, and the crystal growth consuming them stops, when in proximity to enough additional star power. Vash, as a star himself, allows LR to easily think as they did before they ate a star shard when in close enough proximity.
Anyway, fight for the orphanage, Vash shows up in time to see Wolfwood getting his shit rocked and his magical tattoo (I'm so annoyed I can't remember what it's called. My mind is supplying sharingan and i know that aint it) shattered by Chapel, who accomplishes this by running Wolfwood through with his cane. Vash, believing Wolfwood's dead (bc like. Lmao it's pretty hard to live getting impaled, like, fully), loses his temper and basically obliterates Chapel. He moves on from Wolfwood's body to try and dismantle the entire Star church so Wolfwood's orphanage can stay safe. In this process, he confronts a Doctor Conrad, who was behind the whole thing, the remains of Tessla, and somehow Knives?? I think Knives, sensing Vash's anguish, just tried to fuckin nuke everyone, and Vash stops that. I feel like Knives dies in this process somehow... I think it was by saving Vash from something Conrad made??
By the end of it, Vash is wounded and exhausted, and ends up being saved by Milly and Meryl, I think.
When he recovers, it's to find he's lost his ability to leave the planet; while still functionally a star, his power has greatly diminished, his hair is black, and he can't even hide his wings anymore. Last I knew, my writer was actually merciful and let Wolfwood live! Albeit as a martyr (thus the wolf form with the uncontrolled star shard bursting out of the hole in his chest you can see on Wolfwood's page lol). Luckily he's got Vash around, so he gets to keep his mind, if not his human form.
With Knives dead and the star cultists mostly dispersed and no longer able to fuck with the planet, the story ends with our characters getting to experience rainfall on the planet for the first time in centuries.
.......
I like the story :P I imagine it'd be a lot better written out in actual novel form by the person who'd actually thought it up than my shitass, too-long summary lol.
Honestly my writer was communicating up until like, a month ago?? And then they just.... disappeared :/ which is weird bc I checked with my mod for this event (shout out to mod sana, @pushclouds, you're an amazing mod and I appreciate the heck out of you) and they submitted literally every check-in. Honestly I'm more worried for them than anything, if anyone knows what happened to @lohikaar I'd appreciate anything you can tell me. I hope they'll publish this story whenever they can, I'd still love to read it in its entirety.
Additional shout-out to @priellan for beta-ing the story they shared with us, and for overall being a super supportive team member :D
Also they did assign me a pinch hitter writer since we have no idea wtf happened to my original writer, so I'll be doing more drawings :D priellan agreed to beta for them too, which I'm super happy about! And thanks again to mod sana for your hard work and arranging that so quickly!
An admittedly strange first big bang experience, but I don't think it was overall bad, and I'm excited to work on more stuff with my new writer :D if you read this far goddamn. Thanks lol. See you again for sure on January 1st! (I'll try to post other shit between then and now hopefully)

'Radical feminist' is a role you have to perform and actively work towards not a label you can identify into. Lest any of y'all have forgotten: we are meant to be examples to the women and girls around us that you can exist and have a fulfilling life while defying patriarchal teachings and practices.

Random Ramble
I think it is hilarious how some people are so aggressive about sticking so thoroughly to canon, and not allowing for any room for imagination, because like, my brother in christ, canon does not exist.
None of these are real, the characters are not real, the story is not real. There is no such thing as canon.
There is only such thing as the op. The one who originally made the story and the characters, which is why we have copyright. So that no one can *make money off of these characters and the story*
But so long as you aren't plagiarizing the story in order to make your own money off of it. Once these characters are published and, in the world, everyone has free reign with them.
Once they are in your head, they are your characters. Which is why people interrupt their actions differently. Because the characters will appear different in your head compared to anyone else, including the author.
Idk the origins of the term canon, nor have I done any research on the topic (I'm just rambling) but tbh in my eyes it appears like we as a society have allowed money to ingrain itself so deeply into us as people, that we allow to dictate what we think. And this goes for the idea of canon.
Because the actual author is one making money off the books (rightfully so) it has become a sort of, is their way or the highway (this is just a half-thought through theory btw don't take it too seriously)
Which is why I personally love to take said characters and do whatever the fuck I want with them. Because whatever I make them do is in character for me, and even if it isn't, it might be for someone else. Because while they are in my hands, they are my characters.
Consider this a freedom post. You are free to think whatever the fuck you want, none of these people are real. Make Elain a villain, give Kosechi a love interest, make Feyre and Tamlin get back together after she divorces Rhysand. It doesn't matter what the og author thinks, so long as you aren't making money off these characters, you can do whatever the hell you want with them.
And I don't mean make theories crack, I mean you are allowed to genuinely believe this is the best course of action, even if you know the og author won't take it that way.
Cause personally, I do think Tamcien is a plausible ship, and I hope it happens in canon. Do I think it will? No, but Tamlin and Lucien are my characters when they are in my head, so I am allowed to think whatever the fuck I want about them. And same goes for people who disagree with me.
Like some people want Lucien to take over the world, I do not. Some people want Tamlin to die, I do not. Some people want a myriad of things that I do not, and both of those ideas are in character, so long as they are in your head.
Make elriel your canon, make elucien your canon. Fuck it, make Rhysand/Beron your canon.
The only person judging you in the voice in your head, and people on the internet and who gives two fucks what they think. Get as weird as you want, it's all canon, cause none of this is real.

There is ZERO logical or ethical reason to support sex-work.
I‘m not against sex-workers, who are women trapped under a patriarchal system which coerces them in multiple different ways to let men use and abuse their bodies. The very same men who look down on women in general. I‘m against sex-work.
And you can‘t take the stereotypical privileged middle-class woman who does OnlyFans or "enjoys getting paid for sex" as an example or justification. She‘s STILL getting objectified and degraded by these men, and even though she "feels" as if she‘s in control, she‘s not. Power and control are not feelings.
These "choices" are ingrained into them by the patriarchy and ultimately ONLY serve the men who benefit from them. Women‘s bodies are never a commodity. And consent can‘t be sold and bought. Sexual intimacy is either enthusiastic, mutual and has the same conditions for everyone involved or it‘s simply a violation of the female sex class as a whole.
When one woman can be "bought", all of us can. And no man should EVER be able to "buy" a woman or her consent.
Also, the majority of sex-workers are the exact opposite of the fake-happy and fake-empowered OF women. They‘re trafficked and ripped apart, their humanity is completely taken away from them.
And the focus shouldn’t lie on "What if SHE wants it?", instead ask yourself "Why should HE want it? And be in a position to purchase another human being?".
Embracing women‘s sexuality means embracing HER sexuality without strings (such as patriarchal conditioning) attached, not some man‘s who happens to have the money for it.
What do we call a man who doesn’t care whether the woman actually *wants* him and still performs the act? A rapist.

okokok. nedda explanation cause im kinda outta the loop. why are people hatin on marner. why does everyone keep sayin he and matthews shouldnt play together. why do so many fans want him outta the lefs? he did somethin? this aint right in my book, I dont like this atmosphere
only the worst ppl alive have those opinions, but essentially mitch asked for a fuck ton of money after putting up 94 points in his third year in the league and thinking he was gonna have to continue to deal with a coach that was specifically abusive to him for 5+ more years and the uncles have never forgiven him for daring to ask for money and getting it, lol. it's hypocritical and stupid and everyone's blaming the wrong thing... and then auston and mitch started to play together with frequency once babcock was gone (never let them play together til his fucking bitter end lol), and people thought it was mitch somehow pulling the strings and being a diva about that and insisting he play w auston when...... we literally have proof that that's auston's doing but okay. and that's not even touching the fact that he's just not typically masculine and he's pretty and that legitimately triggers men on the internet, but LOL.

Sir John died exactly as he had lived. Being dragged through the halls of something bigger than him something grander and more powerful than him, having no more agency in his direction than a cut of meat being brought to a banquet hall. I wonder if at the end he was equally pleased to serve or be served as he had been up until then.
Captain Fitzjames transformed as he died. I feel that he saw more and more clearly as more and more of him succumbed. There at the end of vanity I hope he took solace in being free. I can't shake the thought that in a way the sickness cleansed him, if only because the part of him that was an Englishman died first.
Captain Francis Crozier died when the boats first froze to the pack. Captain Francis Crozier died when he wrote a letter saying goodbye. Captain Francis Crozier died again that day when Sir John got his wish to move below. Captain Francis Crozier died alongside each and every sailor who perished. He died when his second to last remaining friend could go no further, he died again when his last friend joined him to buy the men but a few more days. Captain Francis Crozier died when his ship's boy betrayed him, he died when he saw Doctor Goodsir had lost hope. He died when he saw the devil having stolen a man's name was thriving here off the flesh of his men. And finally Captain Francis Crozier died when he used the very last of his strength trying and failing to unchain himself from Tuunbaq, but they had been chained together unbeknownst to either, ever since Captain Francis Crozier first died that morning on the ice.
Agluukkaq survives, because not a single Englishman did.

what's with the bold choice to make blitz forest green and remove all animal traits from his facial anatomy
hes green because in my rewrite, all imps are colored from the rings theyre from!! ive also switched up the colors from how canon is. blitz is from envy, so hes green! hes ""green with envy"", if you will. millie is the only member of i.m.p who stays red!! as she is from wrath.
this isnt a rewrite thing i just hate how imps look in canon LMAOOOO. i dont even know if id call the facial anatomy ""animal traits"" ?? theyre just noseless (as are most of viv's humanoids) and are weirdly long and stretched out. i dont. see what animal thats supposed to represent. lizards i guess? i read somewhere therye supposed to be dragon-esque/reptilian but i dont see it at all. i hate drawing it anyway so i just got rid of it.
